Major disappointment
Visually stunning, and the real-time alerts are nice. However, I bought this for the calendar sync b/c TripIt calendar subscription wasn't working correctly. It worked correctly for a hot second. Since then, calendar sync has not worked. I did get it to sync to one of my iCloud calendars but only that one (not the one I wanted) and since I deleted that calendar now no calendars. Additionally, the dynamic import from TripIt doesn't work when a trip changes. I have to disable and re-enable TripIt connection to get it to register the change. At firsts, support was seemingly responsive, but despite several chasing emails they have gone radio silent. If you want any of the integrations, don't waste your money.
Recommend for USA/Western Europe only
I traveled to over 15 countries in December 2019 and January 2020. Unfortunately, Flighty Pro (Piaf version) didn’t help me much more than the airline app, Google, or even better, free direct texts from the airline. Specifically, there was little Flighty information when taking flights in the following cities: Belgrade, Bucharest, Kyiv (Kiev), Minsk, Istanbul, Chisinau, Québec City, and Montréal. Hong Kong and Taipei had up-to-date information, as if I were traveling in the US. ***Updates in Québec and Montréal with respect to gate and delay information was at least 15-30 minutes behind the texts I received from Air Canada and United.*** That being said, Flighty is on point for my domestic flights between Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Stay ahead of fellow passengers
The single best flight tracking app ever
Flighty’s fast data updates and push alerts got home home 14 hours before I was supposed to.
For a Delta SFO-DTW-DCA red eye flight I got a Flighty notification that my flight was delayed 10 hours. I got the Flighty notification and immediately went to speak to the gate agent to get rebooked. A fellow passenger was right behind me because he also got the Flighty notification. We both were able to get rebooked on a different overnight flight immediately.
70 seconds after we got the Flighty notification everyone else got the official Delta notification and a gigantic line formed. Flighty’s incredible speed saved me from spending a night at the airport or waiting in line for an hour to see if I could change my flight.
Has what others don't
My partner and I were flying this week. He was using the airline's app and I used Flighty. Every time I got a notification from Flighty, he said "how come my app doesn't do that?"
We particularly liked knowing when the airplane we were supposed to leave on had already arrived, the on time stats for each flight, and knowing that we would (well, that I would) receive a text notification if our gate changed (almost missed a flight once before without that info).
It was also cool to watch our flight in real-time in the app. Somehow it worked with just the minimal WiFi the airline provides without paying. The airline's flight tracker wasn't working, but Flighty was.
Thanks for all the information I needed to feel comfortable that I knew what I needed to for a great flight.
Held back from purchasing just yet
I’ve been using App in the Air for the past few years and have been loving it as it syncs and works seamlessly between my APPLE WATCH and iPad.
Recently discovered Flighty and have been playing around with the app but have been frustrated with so many features locked behind a paywall that is not the case with App in the Air.
Although I would love to purchase the full premium version of Flighty - the NO APPLE WATCH support is really holding me back. Also a really neat feature that AITA has is that they incorporate the airline livery on the aircraft that you are booked with as well as have the option to book flights and hotels through their app.
Once Flighty has full Apple Watch support I can’t see myself switching over just yet even though the UI seems much better put together.
Flight Geeks, This App’s for You!
Every time this app is upgraded, it only gets better! The live activities showing position on the runway and time to taxi are amazing. Add in a world map with my lifetime flying history (and stats), and I am in heaven. I appreciate knowing when the aircraft changes and notice far ahead of my airline as to relevant changes.
To the developers, three requests:
Please allow notification types to be customized. Getting a ding late at night for a tail number change is a little much. I would like to mute that or make it not appear with time sensitive messages.
Allow bulk import (perhaps CSV) of past flight history.
Improve the TripIt integration so that removing a flight there also causes it to disappear in Flighty, rather than manually having to remove it separately.
Otherwise, outstanding app!
Beautiful interface but flight into is often wrong or not updated
Downloaded the app and used it on a few international flights.
The first one from JFK to Cairo, Flighty showed arrival time as 3 hours delayed even before the flight took off, but the departure time was unchanged. The flight ended up taking off about 30mins late and landed about 30mins late. Of course, because of this Flighty showed the message "Arrives after departure time of connecting flight". This was all very wrong.
The second flight was from Egypt to Zurich. The flight took off about 1.5 hours ago now (I know because my partner texted me) and on Flighty it still shows "Plane is reportedly still at gate". Even other platforms such as flightaware are showing the plane as in the air with the current position.
There's no point having a beautiful interface if the information is so wrong. I'm not talking minutes off.
The Killer Travel App
I am a frequent flyer and rely on over a dozen travel apps to help with my travels. I log about 300,000 air miles a year and am in an airport 2 to 3 times per week, both US domestic and internationally.
Flighty combines all the best features of TripIt Pro, FlightAware and LoungeBuddy into a single "killer app". By adding flight route history data, actual plane tail tracking and live maps, there is no app I've seen that compares. The pre-flight tracking and in-flight notifcations, along with integration to Apple Watch are game changing.
There are lots of nifty features which enhace the travel experience, such as airline specific contact information and alternative routes, specific to your itinerary. I could go on an on.
The only downside is that it is the most expensive of all the travel apps I have seen. The annual subscription is pricey, but worth it, given the amount I travel.
AMAZING
Flighty has revolutionized the way I travel! As a frequent flyer, I've tried various flight tracking apps, but none compare to the exceptional experience provided by Flighty. Its sleek design, intuitive interface, and real-time updates make it an essential tool for any traveler.
Flighty's accurate flight predictions and proactive alerts have saved me from countless delays and cancellations, allowing me to adjust my plans accordingly. The app's detailed airport and airline information, along with gate changes and baggage claim updates, ensure a stress-free journey.
Additionally, Flighty's personalized insights and historical data contribute to better decision-making while booking future flights. It's like having a personal travel assistant in the palm of your hand!
In conclusion, Flighty is a game-changer for frequent flyers, offering an unparalleled level of convenience and peace of mind. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to stay ahead of their travel plans!
Calendar auto import fails for the frequent business traveller
Sadly, calendar import is almost worthless if you are a frequent traveler and corporate uses Microsoft Exchange. Exchange/Outlook, like Siri, has an awesome feature that will auto add flight reservations that appear in your inbox. It puts the origin airport as the location and then the subject is Airline Flight # to Destination.
But flighty doesn’t understand these.
Open a support ticket and it autosends the json. Support says meh…. It has to have the airport codes and flight number. Open the the json it actually has the airport codes flight number. Nice beautiful machine parseable format.
Ask if development has actually looked at it? Support blows you off with a we have lots of cases they might do it some day.
I mean, come on, it’s not like it’s an escoteric calendar platform. It’s probably the largest corporate email/calendar platform in use.
So yeah, can’t auto import from a calendar with autocreated consistent format calendar entries by Microsoft Outlook.
Half Baked
While all of the advertised functions have worked on my trips, I often found that useful data is not available or not consistently available.
The developer markets that you can see the plane's taxi and runway information. While that's nice and all, it is a good to have, not a must have. I'm surprised that the app doesn't support notification of when boarding starts and when you should head to your gate. Who cares about the taxi and runway info if one misses his/her flight (luckily I didn't rely on this app for that, otherwise I'll miss my flights).
The other item that needs strong improvement is the lack of plane information for international airlines. I travel more internationally than domestically and I find that I need to look up my flight info using the "free" resources I have than this app. That's what's surprising. If I pay for a service, I expect to get much better information compared to free publicly available resources.
Have potential but not there yet. Not for the serious travers, yet.
Not That Useful
I paid for the Flightly app for a single month and it just wasn't useful. During that time, I took 8 flights, and the info provided wasn't anything I couldnt get within the airlines own app.
Recently I took an Iceland Air flight. As the gate agents announced they were beginning boarding, the airlines own app went off with a notification to let me kow such. 20 minutes later, when I was already seated on the plane, the Flightly app notified me of such. Really not useful at that point.
The visuals and flight tracking are pretty but they're not updated as frequently as needed. On a flight to Minneapolis on Delta, the app never updated to show the 15 minute late takeoff or the fact that we were landing 7 minute early. We'd arrived at the gate and Flightly was still showing we hadn't landed yet (I had wifi access throughout the flight). The Delta app was correctly updated for the delay and early landing.
It's a bit silly to enter your boarding pass number and seat number into the app, when that info is all contained in the airlines own app, which you likely already have, as you need it for your digital boarding pass.
The lock screen data is nice, but again, it's not updated in real-time, so it's not that useful.
While the Flightly app looked cool at first, it really fell flat when it came to providing real-time information that's useful. Glad I didn't do the one year subscription and I won't be renewing my monthly subscription, as the app just isn't that useful.
New Favorite Travel App
Very frequent flyer here and have been looking for an app to make my travel experience better for a while. I use TripIt...but it just doesn’t cut the mustard in a lot of areas. If you are an American Airlines flyer this app is indispensable as the AA app is, well, complete trash.
Some things I love about this app:
1. Updates to flight plans and aircraft (though I wish the updates to the flight plans updated more quickly)
2. The color coding and layout are spectacular and makes information easy to find.
3. “Where’s my plane” is awesome and worth the price of admission alone. This type of information is the stuff frequent travelers look for and plan their airport time around. If you’re a United airlines flyer, you can get this through the native app, but Flighty puts the entire chain of flights right in front of your eyes.
Some items on the wish list:
1. On occasion, the app will treat the second/third leg of my flight like a new flight that needs to be “checked in” to. I’d like the app to detect that I’m only on a layover and potentially tell me how long that layover is. “You have 2 hrs 10 min at DFW. Your next flight is at gate C7” (Directions to my next gate like TripIt provides would be cool too)
2. I’ve been using this app about a month (roughly 10 flights) and most of the time the information is timely. 2-3 of the flights took a little time to update.
3. Airport maps (nice to have)
All in all I’m very satisfied with this app and can appreciate the aesthetics and thought that went into making it.
LOVE, but…
This app is amazing. So much so I gladly pay for the Pro subscription. However, there’s one major flaw. When you plug in a flight that has two flights under the same flight number (out and backs/round trip flights) you can’t select the right one! It automatically assumes which one you want, and you can’t change it. All you can do is delete it. Come on guys! This should have been thought of. ): Edit: This issue only happens when I search just the flight number. You can search by city pair and it finds the correct flight. Upgrading my rating since the amazing developers messaged back and clarified some. Thanks guys!
Response to developers: First, THANK YOU for replying back and asking for more info! That speaks volumes. If you’d like, share your email address (unless it’s somewhere I’m not seeing) and I’ll send screenshots. I work for a US airline and we have a lot of departures from the HUB, then the return back to the HUB has the same flight number. For example, AAL1782 DFW to MSP, then MSP back to DFW with the same flight number. Every time I try to add the flight before either of the trips has started or been completed, the app will only show one of the trips, not both. And it doesn’t give an option to dive deeper into the flight so you can pick the right leg. That being said, I did not realize you could search by city pair. I just tried that and it does find the right legs depending on which departure and arrival airport is searched. So it’s just when searching by only the flight number that issue shows up. Sorry for the long explanation. Again, thank you so much for responding! Literally the best app ever!
Not helpful when things go wrong
I had high hopes for this app but I feel disappointed. The app promises stress-free travel. However, one time, my first flight was delayed and I missed my second connecting flight. The app duly acknowledged the delay of the first flight and offered zero assistance or suggestions to rebook. I don't need an app to tell me "too bad, looks like you're going to miss your connecting flight" when I know that already. Offer a solution instead so I can call the airline and get it fixed in the best way possible. Even worse, the app still assumed I somehow made that flight - which would have been impossible - and sent a useless notification to inform me that that flight landed on time without me on board.
Another time I had again a delay and it was cutting close but I still made the connection, not thanks to the app however again offering zero assistance on the best terminal route to make the connection, just showing the time and departure gate that the cabin crew already announced when we were taxiing to the arrival gate.
And now I have a flight that is canceled but that is still kept on the timetable (with no bookable inventory) because the airline can apparenty not delete the flight from the schedule until every pax has been rebooked. The airline notified me 2 days ago of the cancelation, this app today still thinks the flight is going ahead as scheduled. Come on.
For me the promises of "pilot-grade data", "instant updates" and "unmatched notifications" have not been met. I understand that the app is limited by the information that it receives, but it could absolutely have been proactive and helpful in each and every situation above. For me, "pilot-grade data" means to be better informed than the average pax. Instead, I pay a subscription to simply have the information repeated to me that the airline already gave free of charge. 2 stars.
Great App, but not 5 stars
So here is my review. I took the liberty of purchasing “App In The Air” lifetime subscription for $49 and would have liked to try Flighty for longer (still would actually)…but the lifetime subscription is a bit high to justify at the moment at $249. I’m traveling a bit and may do another review later maybe. Here is my assessment. On the iPhone, Flighty was great and really beats “App in the Air”. Shifting between My flights and friends flights is much better. I liked the live tracking on the Lock Screen and this is where flighty shined over “App in the Air”. (Was just notified that “App in the Air “ has added this feature, so may impact this review, but for now Flughty kills it on the phone. As I used both apps a little more, it seemed that “App in the Air” was a little more useful however. Here are a couple things that I noticed. 1) Flighty looks great from an interface perspective on the iPhone 2) “App in the Air” works with the Apple Watch and has more features on the watch that I found more useful when traveling and works on the phone as well 3) I found that some of the gate information for plane arrivals on Flighty seemed a little delayed compared to “App in the Air” (this is where I’d like to try the pro version of Flighty a little more) 4) Flighty had a weird glitch last flight that had my plane going waaaaay North on a trip from Naples to Memmingen while offline. A little weird, but not sure if it was a one off (again where I’d like to try Flighty Pro for longer). Or if this is just a glitch. May have an opportunity to try before my pro version expires. 5) one feature I liked and thought was useful from “App in the Air” was the notification to head to the airport to get to the flight on time. Didn’t get this notification on flighty, but again if I had more time with the app…would continue to compare a little modre closely. So summary….it’s hard with my limited time to justify Flighty over “App on the Air” when both provide about the same information. Flighty experience kills it, but not having the Apple Watch integration (May come later) is a downside for now. I want to justify the larger price tag, but didn’t hesitate with the $49 lifetime subscription for “App in the Air”. For $249, big hesitation and for now justified I think. Would I like to continue evaluating Flighty? Yes, absolutely….but hard to justify if I have a lifetime subscription to the same data (even though the interface isn’t as good as Flighty’s). I have screenshots of the weird flight going North when offline. When I reconnected, it updates just fine. May not always be the case when traveling however. I can continue to evaluate and may update at a later date, but may cancel the subscription as I want to have an app that travels with me (lifetime) versus having to pay monthly. For now, may not renew…but hard decision since they both have their positives and negatives. Love flighty, but not sure I can justify….will update if anything changes.
Great for Tracking Family’s Past Flights
Flighty is an exceptional app that offers an efficient and user-friendly platform for logging flights, whether it's for the past, present, or future. As a frequent traveler and a tech enthusiast, I can confidently say that Flighty is the best flight logging app I've come across in years.

Fantastic Experience
Flighty is amazing, and I would reccomend it to anyone who travels regularly. Quick updates, easily navigable UI, calendar imports and tripit syncing are some of my favourite features which all just make flying so much easier. When they say worlds fastest flighty delay notifications, they really mean it: my flight was delayed by 30 minutes and flighty told me before the airline did!
Great UX
I love this app for multiple reasons. Practically, it’s a breeze to track upcoming flights across airlines and to watch when friends are arriving, timing my pickups. And as a flight geek, I love seeing my all-time stats. I hear it’s in the works, but my only improvement request would be to allow manual adds including support for former airlines like NWA, US Airways, Continental, etc. 10/10
St.Croix USVI Hampton VA
leaving Miami we hit a lot of turbulence. This app really calmed me down because I could see where we were and how fast the pilot was going I could see a lot of other planes and that made me feel better to know we was not alone in the sky. I LOVE THIS APP I shared it with all my family and friends. They had no idea about this app I think this app helps anxiety during flight. Cause not know is the worst

Flighty monitors your flight 25 hours before departure, tracks inbound flight history to predict delays, and provides arrival forecasts based on historical data, making it unique compared to App in the Air.
Flighty is a comprehensive flight tracking app available for free on the App Store, though it includes optional in-app purchases. It's designed for anyone planning to fly, offering detailed information about flights without tracking you via Facebook or Google SDKs. This means your activity within the app isn't monitored by these companies.
While Flighty provides detailed information on flights, including departure, arrival times, and flight paths, it may not update in real-time as precisely as some other apps. It gives a good representation of a flight's status and path, but for exact real-time tracking, other platforms might offer more up-to-the-second data.
Yes, Flighty includes a feature that directs users to a website detailing COVID-19 travel impact and restrictions by country. This is especially useful for planning trips during the pandemic, helping you stay informed about the changing travel restrictions and guidelines.
Flighty's Pro package offers enhanced notifications, including alerts for delays, gate changes, departure, takeoff, check-in, cancellations, and email TripIt imports. Additional premium features include "Where's My Plane?" alerts, FAA airport delays, connection info, and detailed flight path tracking.
Flighty allows for automatic syncing of flight information through email forwarding, TripIt sync, or calendar sync. By registering your email with Flighty and forwarding your flight confirmation emails, the app can automatically import your flight details, simplifying the tracking process.
Flighty is noted for its exceptional customer support. The development team is responsive and helpful, addressing users' questions and concerns promptly and with care. This level of support enhances the overall user experience and reliability of the app.
Yes, Flighty is a global flight tracking app capable of tracking flights worldwide. Whether you're flying within North America or internationally, Flighty can provide you with comprehensive flight details, including delays, weather conditions, and aircraft information.
Flighty stands out due to its user-friendly interface, absence of tracking by major tech companies, and unique features like morning and check-in assistants, which offer itinerary updates and help with connecting flights. Its focus on privacy, global capability, and detailed flight information make it a valuable app for travelers.
Opinions on the value of Flighty's PRO version vary. Some users feel that it is expensive and may not be worth the investment for those who only travel occasionally. Others might find the enhanced tracking features, notifications, and customer support beneficial for frequent travel.
