About a month ago, I spoke with a very rude woman by the name of Elizabeth Hedges. I wanted to make a donation and after I had, she blocked me from all communication online. When trying to contact the organization further, I was threatened by a lawsuit. And I did nothing wrong, but ask questions. I know it sounds crazy to be treated like that by an org, but I was and people need to be made aware of who they are donating to!
DO NOT EVER DONATE TO THIS ORGANIZATION! I was taken aback by this womans behavior and I hope she isn't the director, because what a disgrace. If you want to donate to an organization that does good, donate to your local non-kill shelters.
I am hesitant to say this was a scam, but I believe it was. Something about them seems very fishy...
They are a scam, and are committing fraud. I too was blocked from all communication from them. I was asking for help to save my dog. I was referred to them, because they "supposedly" help families who need help with life threatening illnesses. My dog was on borrowed time, this place was my last resource. The completely ignored my plea for help, and blocked me. I had no choice but to let her go, because i had no way to pay for the surgery she needed in order to survive. I had already paid over $4000 out for surgery from a misdiagnosis and hospitalization. I am dying inside. I even asked that they respond even if they couldn't help financially and offer me some suggestions and resources. Even if it was directing me to a vet that would take payments. I fully understand they can't help everyone who pleas for help, but everyone deserves a response. What they did was so cruel.
whether they are legit or not that is no way to treat anyone especially someone is such desperate need of help!
I am so sorry for your loss, your poor poor dog. I'm so sorry.
Seriously Tammy? You’ve already heard that Elizebeth was very ill. It’s a wonder she was able to help me and the kitten we found in a cornfield in Dec! I was lucky. You try being on your death bed and still trying so hard to help these animals and their families. I’m sorry she wasn’t perfect towards the end but have some compassion for her and all the great things she WAS able to do. Elizabeth had a heart of gold starting up this business after her cat Alex was very ill. After receiving medical care for her kitty, she thought to herself ...what happens to all the animals whose families can’t afford to help their pets with a serious illness? And that’s how and why she started the organization. She used her own money and her own savings and never even tried to get reimbursed! THAT’S the kind of person Elizebeth was!
They are NOT a SCAM! They helped me And my kitty Joey with multiple surgeries! Anyone who calls them a scam was either rude to her or discredited the organization which is why they were blocked. I’m so sick of you people calling this a scam when I’ve had my own experience which was nothing but EXCEPTIONAL! By writing this, I can tell what kind of people you are and I would’ve blocked you too! How DARE you try to discredit an organization that does so much to help animals!
It doesn’t even sound logical that anyone would block you for being “a nice” person who “only” asks questions! This organization is wayyy to busy for people who discredit them or are rude to them. Just saying...
I was just blocked - I commented on a post about cat food- and agreed with the post and offered my experience with cats. She disageed and rebutted and I told her I did my research and thanks for her input. She sent me a private message and blocked me from the page. Told me not to let my ego get in the way. Um. Doing research and disagreeing is ego? They may help some pets, but she is not a vet. So done.
She only provides information from accredited veterinarians and researchers so IF you were blocked it was because you most likely were persistently trying to sway in an unhealthy direction; the people who read her posts. Trust me, I spent over a year in experiences with her due to the fact that we found a kitten with multiple broken bones who she worked diligently to raise funds for. This is her OTHER Full-time job and she does it because of her love for these animals who she’s never even met. Stop discrediting a beautiful organization Run by beautiful people whose only mission is to help animals.
I didn't know her, but I do know she died in March and had been ill for 2 years. Maybe her illness was making her say and do things she wouldn't normally do. It looks like she was doing good things for animal welfare over the years . RIP
I am a regular donor to For the Love of Alex. A couple of years ago when my cat got sick with cancer I asked for help. I did not get a reply so asked a couple more times. I did eventually get a reply saying they do not assistance with cancer due to costs and a couple of referral to other sites. I was then blocked from commenting. I had never posted anything negative and in fact had received several thanks from what I had posted as encouragement or condolences. I noticed that Elizabeth, the founder, would often post very negative things about vets she had disagreements with. I learned she had health issues and died a year ago. Those taking up for her in the organization seem much more measured in their comments. I assume she was struggling with illness and became difficult. I still give to the organization as they are one of the few doing this kind of work. It would be nice if someone now running it would unblock my comments.
I can’t say enough about For the Love of Alex! If it wasn’t for Elizabeth’s unselfish love for all animals, our Joey wouldn’t be alive today! We found him in a frozen cornfield in December with several fractures on both of his legs, trying to make his way over the ice.
I KNOW Elizabeth is dancing ballet in heaven surrounded by her animals she loved so much. I thank her every time I see Joey running around and loving his life while making us all laugh❤️😻
Joey!❤️😻 and his now girlfriend, Sassypants
Thank you for all you do!
You absolutely could not have spoken to Elizabeth Hedges a month ago. She passed away a year ago. If you are going to spread lies and false statements about people, you might want to check your information first. Not sure why you feel it necessary to badmouth this organization and Elizabeth, but at least have some respect for the dead.
Agree! Not sure why some people purposely spread lies about someone. That tells me all I need to know about the credibility of their complaint! Elizebeth has been gone for over a year now so unless they’re some sort of psychic, there is NO way for them to have spoken with her! Absolutely disgraceful and PURE EVIL to discredit Elizebeth after she’s passed. Only an insecure coward would do that!
I've been a donor to For The Love of Alex for many years. I can testify that they are a very legit and ethical organization that has helped save many animals' lives. When Elizabeth (the founder) was alive she worked tirelessly, around the clock in trying to help people get proper vetting for their pets in need of emergency veterinary care. She truly was an angel to the animals. Elizabeth wanted only the best possible outcome for these animals and she diligently raised the funds to make it happen. After she passed in February 2018 the organization shut down for a while so that a new board could be formed and the organization could continue its efforts in helping pets in need of emergency veterinary care. No, Elizabeth was not a vet but she was a very smart woman who dealt with veterinarians and veterinary specialists on a daily basis. She saw it all with the cases that FTLOA helped and in her own personal experiences. Because of this, her knowledge base was larger than the majority of laypeople. If anyone had a problem with her it was most likely because they were trying to be a know it all and giving her a hard time. Time was of the essence for these animals and she didn't have time for egotistical people who got in the way of the best possible outcome for these animals. I highly recommend For The Love of Alex and strongly encourage anyone who loves animals and cares about people to become a donor. No animal should ever lose their life, a limb or an eye due to lack of money.
