he program FPL is promoting is nothing but a fraud, allowing FPL and said company to generate an enormous amount of revenue. I have been paying for theses services for years, $31.46 for home protection. Recently I had a problem and my septic system was ruined, caved in and required replacement. The work was performed by a septic contractor and properly supervised by Sarasota county building department. Obviously, when your sceptic system backs up into your home in every shower, tub and toilet, the problem is severe.
I acted immediately and had a new system installed and the collapsed system removed. A few months later, I realized that I had a policy with FPL through HomeServe Water Protection.
I contacted the company and discussed the dilemma with a representative of HomeServe. The short story is she told me to send a letter with a reimbursement request to Home Serve because it was after 75 days and that I should have called for a REPAIR. She further stated my policy covered septic tanks . I explained that there was no repairs that could fix the problem as the walls of the system collapsed, possibly from the hurricane.
I sent in all of the required documents and received emails from HomeServe Hello,
We have received your reimbursement information and are beginning our review process. Please allow up to 30 days for us to complete our review. If for whatever reason you have not heard from us in 30 days, please call the HomeServe 24/7 Repair Hotline at [protected].
Thank you,
HomeServe
Within two days, i received a phone call and was told by HomeServe representative that my request for reimbursement was denied. The reason was that i had not called for a rep[air prior to replacement and it was after 75 days. I informed the caller that I have been paying for insurance coverage for many years and that calling for repair was not plausible. The short story was
that you are denied. I asked that this denial be sent to me via email where I could see the reasons for denial, in writing. I was informed that such request is not available and that the company did not send out emails detailing why they denied a claim. I asked that a copy of the contract with HomeServe Water Protection that is paid through FPL be sent to me. That was not a request that would be granted. Thus, I pay for services highly advertised and recommended by FPL, paid for years and I am not entitled to see my contract or see in writing the reasons for denying my claim.
My circumstances are unique as most customer septic systems do not cave in. The hurricane of September 28,2022 most likely created the dilemma but that is unimportant.
What is important is FPL promoting this service and the surge shield protector coverage to its approximately 5 million plus customers. If 20 % sign up, 1 million customers per month at $11.95 for surge protection, which is a joke now that I know how it works and $19.48 per month for water protection program. WOW what a killing for FPL and HomeServe.
I look forward to your response.
