This was an experience
It is rare for me to come across a game that is excruciatingly challenging, but has a reason for being. “Getting Over It” is not just a difficult game to play, but a testament for a player to learn that failure is okay. Every time that I fell from high up, sure I lost plenty of my progress, but I got faster at observing and adapting to my surroundings that it didn’t take me too long to get back to where I originally was. What each section of the game that seemed like an impossible jump or climb, later became just another bump in the road on my journey, because I’ve seen what failure looked and felt like from that before.
This maybe an homage to another game (similar in gameplay) called “Sexy Climbing”, but Bennett Foddy has put together something with his own original spin and artistic liberties that makes this game differ from it enough. In fact, I will go as far as to say that this is one of the greatest experiences that I’ve ever had playing a video game. When it comes to negatives… I honestly wouldn’t change a single thing about it. 10/10
Great Game, Worth It
I downloaded this game a couple of years ago and beat it once with a time of around 6 hours. I (obviously) was frustrated at the game but since I beat it I put it down thinking I was done with it. It stayed in my home screen for around a year and I never looked at it until one day when I decided to revisit it. This was both great and agonizing as the parts of the game that I despised were back to haunt me. But, as time went on I kept beating it and falling then climbing back up and beating it again. 3 successful climbs grew to 15 then 25 and soon I began wondering if I had it in me to get the golden pot. As time went on I kept getting wins and my pot kept getting more shiny. Once it was fully golden I decided to keep going and I’m glad I did as 6 hours of gameplay to win once became 30, then 20, 10, until I reached my record time of 4 minutes to beat the game. I understand that that isn’t nearly as good as world record material but I feel proud of my accomplishment. If you left the game thinking it was too difficult, try it again because it’s worth it.
Perfect, optimized and wonderful
I don’t know how they did it but Bennet and whoever he has helping him managed to get this game to run wonderfully well on iPhone X with beautiful graphics settings and even at 60p! Nuts!
Awesome, unique and fresh game with an entertaining philosophical overtone. Like I said before, do yourself a favor and buy this now. It’s even better now that it runs well and doesn’t totally obliterate battery life.
Old review below:
————————————————-
Playing on iPhone X this game looks awesome, and performs extremely well for 3 or 4 minutes. After that the device gets extremely hot, so much so that the screen will dim in its usual increments all the way to minimum and the GPU/CPU will slow to a literal crawl shortly after - like I’m talking maybe 10 FPS max. It’s funny to watch it become unplayable after a few minutes and then eat through 20% battery in the same time.
I’m happy to see this port to mobile, I know the performance issues will be taken care of. Do yourself a favor and download this game. It’s worth dealing with the growing pains. Keep it up Bennett!
Looking forward to playing this more
I’ve been watching PewDiePie’s videos on this game, and while it is quite clear that this game is rather difficult I am looking forward to playing it more (I’ve only just started).
There’s a few issues I have at the moment. (Before I continue, you should know that I have an iPhone SE on the latest version of iOS as of this writing). First, when changing the settings the screen will sometimes go black or a new game will start. I’ll have to force quit and open the app twice before I can continue as normal. Second, lowering the character doesn’t seem to work half the time, even though the mechanics of brining my finger up to lower the character’s body works at other times. Edit: maybe having an option to invert the control direction would be helpful? Third and last, the graphics are very very jagged. I’m assuming that this is because I’m on an iPhone SE? If the game could just be zoomed in a little bit on the SE so this effect doesn’t happen that’d be great.
On the whole the game is great and I’m looking forward to playing it more. Thanks for releasing it on iOS!
Brilliant Game, But Hard on my Phone (Edited)
I played some Getting Over It on my friends PC and loved it. It’s an uncompromising, tough as nails puzzle/platformer that sets you up for hundreds of little successes/failures that will make you experience a wide range of emotions (mostly exhaustion). I love that I can play it on iOS now, and the touch controls are surprisingly responsive. This is a great, fully featured version of the game.
HOWEVER after just a few minutes of playing my iPhone X is burning up. The area around the camera is hot to the touch. I doubt any real damage is being done, but it does make me worry.
I highly recommend you play this game, just maybe consider the Steam/PC version if you worry about your phone’s wellbeing like me!
Edit: after a number of improvements, the aforementioned heat issue on my iPhone X is almost entirely solved! Playing the game on max settings I noticed only a small heat up (normal for any taxing mobile game) and when I switched to battery saver mode (which removes a lot of the background art) the heat was gone almost entirely. I’m glad the developer is so committed to improving the mobile version of the game!
Oh the controls
I’ve played this for a while on PC. I got the hang of it there. The mouse to hammer connection made sense. It worked. It was/is frustrating, but in a fair way.
Changing up the sensitivity is key to surviving. But there are so many buggy spots. The ground just before the chimney must be made of ice because I can’t grab it and I just slip and slide down it. I can’t grab it with my hammer and if I sit on it I slide down it. I’m moving nothing and I just slide.
I keep hitting things that don’t exist, sending me plummeting one way or another. Just buggy random nothings.
My cursor just random shoots around sometimes, again, sending me plummeting down.
I’ve got over 3 hours in this and I keep playing because I’m blaming myself for not being good enough. I’ve got the controls down and know what to do, but the bugs keep ruining my experience.
Also, the camera reorienting the white cursor may be a big part of the struggles. It is super hard to compensate for that while playing.
I love these sorts of games, but I’ve gotta give it a 2 right now. It feels kind of unplayable. If I know what I’m doing and can’t get past the chimney... that’s a problem.
Perfect Game Bennett
Bugs have been fixed, thanks a whole lot Bennett! I will report to you anything I find that's glitchy or buggy in each new version! New update has fixed all bugs anything found I will report.
Edit: The only way to stream this game on twitch with 60 fps settings is you need to use omelet arcade, use 360 p (even this is too much for the game so it spazzes the hammer out) bet the game and since it tricks the game you are still streaming even though it says you aren't. Then switch the graphics to 60 fps, you're welcome for allowing for you to figure this out cause I know much about the game.
Double Edit: The game has its casual lag spikes constantly which are so annoying. Nvm I got to the top of the mountain once and there after there was no more lag and it ran perfectly. Edit no it did not fix it I still lag way more than im Supposed to.
Suggestion: you should add a bug/dev menu for making maps to upload and play for both pc and mobile, also the idea of livesplits option when streaming for those who speedrun of course. Nvm this won't ever happen...
Thanks for taking your time to read this Bennett really appreciate it! Know that I strive for the best of this game!
Hopefully you read this!like you have given the others a response.
extremely good game
I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone who didn't like flappy bird, or doesnt like rage inducing games, but to those who can deal with frustration, this is the perfect game.
First things first, you should probably get this game on a pc if you can, because its not that mobile friendly. if you’re on an Ipad or some sort of tablet, with a bigger screen, you should be fine, but if you're like me on a smart phone, its not worth it. even worth the sensitivity turn all the way down, you have to be extremely precise with your movements or else you might accidentally push off a wall and fall to the beginning, even though your finger was going in the opposite direction.
Secondly, to Bennet Foddy, if you’re reading this, please update the game and make it more smart phone friendly, because no matter what the settings might say, there are basically 3 sensitivity settings, high, way to high, and so insanely high that its impossible to make any significant progress without starting over every 15 seconds (no exaggerations, I timed myself at the highest setting, and my average time between falls was 15.87 seconds). other that that, Its a surprisingly fun game, and while the reward is kind of anticlimactic, the easter egg (the character from sexy hiking) is pretty cool.
P.S.
If you know what’s good for you, don’t ride the snake.
Life Simulator
Getting Over It is, I'll admit, rage inducing, but it is also like therapy. Not therapy like adult coloring books, or orchestrated music, But its own type of therapy. It is frustrating. It is rage inducing. It will make you want to pull your hair out.
Oddly comparable to life. Like Getting Over It, life itself is frustrating, rage inducing, and makes you want to pull your hair out. In a way, Getting Over It is kind of like a "life simulator."
Like the small victory of getting over the first tree, for example. It makes you feel good, right? Then seconds later, you're climbing your way up the mountain for the first time, and you take your first fall at the shed roof. Frustrating. Then, Usually, Bennet comforts you. "Don't let it get to you." -Bennet Foddy
Along the way, you come across the parallel rocks with the two lanterns. It takes you forever, but eventually you make it up there! You overcome treacherous obstacles. You may fall, and have to start aaallllll over again. Like in life, when you miss a house payment or get a bad grade on your report card. But you can do better. You can make it up. You can get back where you were. After all, "You've done it before. You know it's possible. Just do what you did the first time." -Bennet Foddy
Basically, what I'm saying is, Getting Over It teaches you how to cope with the frustrations of life. You should give it a try.
One of my favorite games. Five Stars
This game was really frustrating and lil' bit of rage when I played for the first time. But with the time I learned that it was my fault about feeling like that, so now I don't get frustrated very much anymore. This game is like a therapy, like if I fall from top to the bottom I have to do it good like last time I got to the top. Playing this game without hearing Bennett Foddy we will not learn nothing, I know it's annoying hearing almost all the time that guy as a commenter but it’ll make the game worse.
This game is about of practice of moving good the hammer with your thumbs and getting the domain of the game.
Getting Over It is not about getting over the mountain, is getting over the anger to not feeling like that anymore. To control your bad emotions. A tip is to take a breath and think about how did you feel about getting very up. I beat this game more than five times. Sorry if you don’t like my opinion but, this game is worth it when you get over it and feeling the best relief you've never had. In addiction I would like a sequel or a new feature of the game like custom mountains by players or a multiplayer race about who is going to be the first to get over that mountain.
I don’t know how to express my opinion about this game but simply I will say that even the game is really frustrating and raging, it’s worth it to play it when you’re bored, is very entertaining and interesting.
Thank you for reading my review of this incredible game.
Fantastic Game with One Problem
I love this game so much. I originally bought it on my phone and thought the controls were annoyingly difficult, so I then bought it on the PC, which, turned out to not be much better. I continued playing on my phone and actually almost threw my phone out of frustration a couple times. I would watch people on YouTube play it and it would make me hyped to try it again to beat it, even though I would still fail and get mad; but I never gave up. Anyway, after many hours of trying, I finally managed to beat the game and I was ecstatic. As of writing this review, I’ve beaten the game 8 times and it’s so much more fun playing it over because no obstacle makes me angry anymore because I know I can get past all of them. I’ve been speed running the game lately and I’ve gotten my time down to 18m21.850s which would be 22nd place on the leaderboard as of writing this. However, every time I’ve beaten the game quicker, it won’t replace my best time, so my stance on the leaderboards is quite saddening. Bennett, if you’re reading this, please fix this and replace your first time beating it with your fastest time so I have motivation to get my name higher up on the leaderboards. Thank you for reading and good luck getting over it.
Edit: I remembered there was a small glitch where after I beat the game and pressed “new game”, the sensitivity was set at the same, but in reality it changes to something much higher. If you restart the app it fixes it but just thought I’d mention this bug.
Broken and Pretentious
I hate how hard this game is. Now, I know that's not a good thing to criticize it for, since it IS a rage game. Hell, I actually like the take on rage games it has, since most of them are just levels packed with fake outs and trolls. That aside, I hate this game, the main reason being controls.
This should NOT have been ported to mobile. Swinging the hammer using my finger leads to the most unresponsive controls I've seen in a while. It doesn't help that the hammer's position is static instead of syncing with the camera, which means that the hammer will move on its own if the camera pans in any direction. And on top of that, collision issues! (Yaaaay!) I have had the hammer get stuck everywhere possible at least once, a main offender being that stupid BBQ by the slide section. And the Lantern tunnel. Good god the lantern tunnel. Bugged out every time.
My second issue? This game has an ego, almost. The narrator is painted as some voice of hope and reason, giving life advice and encouraging me to go on when I f up, when all I wanted to do was whack him in the nuts with my hammer and throw him off the mountain I'm climbing. He continuously goes on about "You see, my game is smart because it's always your fault messing up" when 90% of the time I fell because the absolute dice roll that is the physics decided to f me, or the hammer having a mind of its own and catapulting me to the side (I lost count how many times I fell down the hole by the BBQ.)
A pretentious, bug-packed game that paints itself as a work of art. I want my 5 dollars back.
An experience I will never forget
When I started playing this game, I saw nothing more than a bad port of a steam game. After my roughly 8 hour play through of the game though, I realized that this version perfectly encapsulates what the game is meant to be. The controls are purposefully difficult to fit the brutal learning curve, the game is infuriating with it being very easy to lose progress, and all of Bennett’s quotes as you continue to climb. Everything the game is meant to be is here. But why is this game so worthy of 5 stars if it is so aggravatingly difficult? Well, what makes this game so special is the overall lesson you purposefully undergo by climbing this mountain. It teaches you the art of getting over it. If you think about all the things people try to accomplish, why do so many people fail? They are afraid and annoyed at the possibility of difficulty or failure. They would rather continue to live life the way it is then try to accomplish something meaningful because they believe that the end goal won’t be worth the work. Through this game I taught myself to stop caring about my failures. It taught me that no matter how difficult something may be you will eventually get over it with enough time. This game has taught me to believe in myself, and not give up on things that I thought didn’t really matter if I didn’t complete them. It’s taught me that anything I go for is like a mountain, with many moments of failure and progress. Finally then when you reach the end, everything you worked for makes your life better, just like the character at the end of the game.
Needs some small improvement
Okay, I feel like I was a bit harsh on this game and didn’t do it justice, so here’s what I actually think about it.
It’s what you would expect from a ported iOS app game. Is kinda down graded and it’s not the sharpest looking game, but the new update added a new feature which I feel like helps. I also feel like the graphics are slightly improved. Or more shiny. Now I don’t wanna brag or anything, but I’ve beaten this game at lest eight times and I feel like I know the ins and outs of this game. From here on I don’t thing you can fix the controls much, (thanks for trying Bennet) it’s just that dragging the hammer all the way around on a small little phone screen isn’t the easiest thing to do, bud if you have an iPad and play this game. I actually think that would be best. However, one that’s still a problem for me. Lag. Again with how many times I’ve played and beat this game, and while this is a hard thing to remove, the way the game deals with it is just weird. So when the games fps is slow, the game makes up for it by going faster. Since there’s no real time in the game you just swing really fast. At the radio tower you move really fast and even in some cases it crashes. But, I feel like that’s just a side effect of having this huge game on iOS with engine limitations. Cause there’s nothing like getting on the side of the tower and knocking yourself down all the way to the bucket. If you continue to make improvements this could be a fairly solid game.
It’s a fun game. To Bennet: no hard feelings.
Overall, it’s the B-est B-game of them all. B+
Sorry if this was really lengthy, just needed to point some things out.
Great game but lags a lot
UpdateSo I still think this game is really good as I’m currently trying to get the golden cauldron but I keep finding having trouble because of lag. It was just at the very end of the game but now it’s almost all the time and it messes me up and causes me to screw up and fall. I have tried 60 FPS mode but I find that actually makes it 10x worse. I hope this can be fixed so the game can be fair and not screw me over at almost every opportunity.
I really like this game! I think the concept of this game is very unique and fun but also also very challenging and unforgiving at times. The controls seemed very confusing and broken for me when I first started but after playing for a week or two I got better and better and I think they are decent and learnable (I have not played this on the PC). The only thing that kind of dampened the experience for me was Bennet Foddys dialogue about the game and basically games in general. Overall I get what he was trying to do but I just feel it was unneeded and was a bit annoying to listen to while trying to beat his game. Especially since he has this pretentious attitude about other games and tries to pretend his game is totally different when in reality there are plenty of difficult games that do the same type of things that this game does (he should try a game like dark souls). Also after beating this game 10 times, I can tell you that just like these “fake” obstacles from other video games Bennet talks about, there are methods and strategies to overcome every obstacle in this game. Thankfully you can mute him and I think the idea of the game then becomes more impactful. Overall I think this a fantastic game and definitely something that people should check out (especially if you love platformers like me).
*One last issue that I hope Bennet will fix is the game gets real laggy at the end and lag spikes will happen and cause you to mess up in big ways so I hope this gets fixed.
Really this game costs more money than it should have

Terrible game, amazing disguise
I can see what he’s done here, make the worst game possible to make people mad. However even though the point of this game is to make people mad this still doesn’t make it a good game. In fact it is one of the worst platformers of all time. The controls are clunky in the first place on pc and it now takes it to a nonexistent level of control. No sensitivity bar like on pc either. I feel he had the intention of making an ok platformer that was meant to beat; however not having enough money or resources he crapped out this and claimed it was just to make people mad. This does not make it a game anymore more of an interactive experience to teach you some things are just not possible to do, to teach failure which all in all is a good message but do not claim this is a game. Games have a goal for you to beat that experience is supposed to be enjoyable yet sometimes very very hard. With this “game” there is no enjoyable experience there is some pleasure after the pain however you feel like you’ve wasted the most amount of time in your life. You achieved nothing absolutely nothing the whole experience makes you want to go into everything with a negative attitude. And after you beat it you only get more mad at the developers. This man should not have made as much money as he did making the worst game possible and claiming it to teach you something except it doesn’t it really doesn’t. Please don’t waste your money here if you want a beatable game pc is beatable however this is really just not possible and a waste of time. Thank you for reading and Dev if you’re reading this admit the point of making this game. EditThen the dev responds acting like he added a feature that actually helps the controls be some what manage able at this point I feel like he's genuinely trolling me taunting the fact he shat this out and made tons of money making some kind of game thats control based yet has some of the worst controls of any mobile game ever I really don’t understand it its like you could care less about the controls because people aren’t going to be able to return the app like you take peoples money and in return give them minimal effort just disgusting honestly. Please if you read this again please please PLEASE put some effort into this not saying all games on the charts required lots of effort but they definitely took more time to make than this money grab. Look man I just feel like you took my money and in return purposely did as much as you could to piss me off.
A different type of frustration
Let me just say this right off the bat: I loved this game—I still do. But I have had several bad experiences with it.
To start, basic control problems. Yeah, I get that with a touch screen, it is very hard to perfect, but come ON! I can hang on the edge of, let’s say, a cliff, with no problems, mainly. But when I put my finger down to move the hammer, the shaded circle which represents the path the hammer takes somehow TELEPORTS to anywhere on the screen, so naturally, the hammer goes that way, and FLINGS me off the cliff. This actually happened several times, especially in Orange Hell, and will probably continue to happen until it’s fixed.
Also, in a few places, the hammer man (Diogenes?) goes through a period of extreme hypersensitivity, thus making it virtually impossible to safely control him. (Basically, fix the sensitivity! No matter where the dial is set, the game seems to follow its own rules, or rule, which seems to be “prevent the player from winning, no matter what the cost.” (I mean, more than is fair, anyway.))
And yet despite this, I still managed to beat the game. After launching myself off the cell tower and maneuvering through the asteroids, the credits started to roll. You can imagine my relief and excitement. Then, right after the second part of the credits (like, the paragraph “design, script, blah blah blah by Bennett Foddy,” before the song even started), the game crashed, meaning I was kicked out back into my home screen on my device. When I got back on, the game had restarted, at the part where the guy gets out of the cauldron and grabs the hammer. Naturally, one would assume the game thought I had watched the credits and sent me back to the beginning, so no complaints there, but the ONE THING that I wanted to do was SEE THE SECRET at the end of the credits!
I have started again (what choice do I have?), and I hope that it doesn’t happen again. If it does, I...
Don’t know what I would do. But seriously, Bennett, I hope you had enough patience to read to this part, because you forced every player who bought the game to do the same. Just please, fix the random crashes and sensitivity issues and you won’t hear a negative comment about this game from me ever again, because I love the game. I just hate the mistakes that have been made. So, just update it, Bennett. Thanks for reading this.
UPDATE
All right, Bennett Foddy. You’ve got some explaining to do.
This update was written seconds after I defeated the game again, dealing with the same sh...stuff AGAIN. I thought the crashing was just random bad luck, but right when the credits started rolling, the entire game crashed, AGAIN! I put a lot of work into the game, and I thought it would pay off, but it just kicked me off before I saw the secret of the game, for a second time. I don’t think I’ll ever take this game seriously again. So sure, the game is unforgiving, but it also responds to touches that never even happened, and at all the milestones in the game, there are episodes of hypersensitivity. I am unbelievably angry right now. You’re probably not even going to read this, because it’s just a speck in the other reviews. But, in the off chance that you’re reading this, I just want to say, for my sake, and anybody like me, fix this, please.
I guess I’ll just get it on the PC until then...
Getting Over It Complaints 18
Good game, terrible app
I love this game, but the app version is terrible, mainly because of the controls. It took me forever just to get up near the devils chimney and I still can't even make it to it. I think this game would be so much better if the controls were different, or maybe you could use a Bluetooth mouse with it (If apple allows that). Not worth $5

Don’t Get This Game
This game is way to glitchy. I was at the top and for no reason at all I loser control of the gamer and it pushed me all the way down from the top, I wasn’t even touching the screen at the time this happened. I wasted $5.00 on this game. Don’t get if you don’t feel like loosing all your progress for a stupid reason.
Edit: Ok thank you, I’ll try it out.

Game breaking glitch
I really enjoy this game, but I can never get it to work properly. I stopped playing for a few minutes one day and came back to a screen filled with a greenish-blue background and black squares. It did not show my character, but I can hear him move. I deleted and reinstalled it, only for it to do the same thing. It’s a game I love to play, but seemingly can’t.

Simply doesn’t work
From what I have played of this game it has proven to be very fun, but it just doesn’t work. As soon as I close out of the app 1 or 2 times, whenever I try to open it it just brings up a black or partially black screen with no character or background to be seen. The only fix I have been able to find is to delete and reinstall the game, which deletes all save data. Please fix this issue

PC was much better
This version of the game was crappy because every time you got to a part where you would hold the hammer against a wall you only have the amount of time it takes to get your finger to the side of the screen until you reached the edge and had to lift it, which would end up in you falling. Also, whenever I had to lift my thumb up my hammer automatically lost lol friction and I would fall.

Game breaking bug
I love this game, I’ve had it for over 2 years, beaten it probably 10 times, and up until a few months it has worked perfectly fine. However, lately there has been a glitch where you get to the endgame, after the credits, and you continue floating forever, I’ve left my phone for hours on end, but have been unable to reach the time screen for a ling time now, Please do something to fix it

Good idea Bad execution
This is one of the worst games I’ve ever played on my mobile device because it makes so many sudden movements I put the sensitivity on the least it could get and still it is so very jumpy the graphics are terrible for most apple devices and this game without a mouse is the worst investment ever on a mobile device however it is a very good game on a computer so if you want this game get a computer with a mouse

App Crasg
I’d give a good 5 stars because this game offers some unique and humorous self aware gameplay that is something fresh from what most people would be used to. However, the app will allow me to play a game and then i cannot close the app and start it up again without the app being stuck on a halfway loaded image of the background.
Please look into this as i am working off an iphone 6s and i would like to be able to have fun with the full effect of this game.

Great game. Crashes too much
Ive had this game for 4 days and on 3 separate occasions the game has crashed and has not been able to work even when i close the app completely and open it back up or turn off my phone. It usually takes over 5 hours for the game to even successfully open, which is completely ridiculous for a $5 game. This last time the game has not been able to open the entire day and it is not able to be played. This crashing is terrible for a game that isnt even free. I honestly want a refund

Does not work!
I have iOS 11 on my iPhone 6s as well as the newest version of getting over it. It’s been one day now since i bought it and I’ve only played it once because it will not load anymore. The loading screen will pop up, but when the game opens it’s either black or just the green background. When i move around, i can hear it, but i cannot see anything. Waist of $4.99, not even to mention the huge downgrade in graphics. I wish there was a way to refund this. Don’t even bother buying it on iOS.

Glitches ruin it
Love the game. I guess if you want to call it that... kinda just played because I’m stubborn. Major problem-I’ve gotten over half way up the mountain twice now (from deleting and redone loading the app) and when I reopen the app hours later it’s zoomed in on the background with black squares on the screen and there’s no resume button or any other option but to look delete and re download the app. Very annoying because I’ve done this twice now and spent hours on a game I paid for and can’t complete because of glitches.

Worst game ever
Why on earth would you put this on an IPad. It's already hard enough on the computer. Even when lowering the sensitivity levels, mr. pot idiot bounces off every wall. I understand that this is the only way for you to make money but come on. It horrible how much time you spend. There should at least be a darn checkpoint here or there. This game is far worse than clash royal who I also gave a one star rating to for its poor content. I would appreciate it if you read this comment and fixed some of the game. I expect an update soon. No, I'm not saying thank you.

Ben, can I have my money back?
I enjoy your work and willingly paid money for this game! Please fix it so I don’t feel like I was scammed. I had fun playing the game at first, when it was working. After launching the game for the 5th or 6th time I got the same bug many others have mentioned. Working sound but black boxes and backdrop with nothing else. After that the game is broken every time. The only fix was re-downloading and installing. Now that doesn’t even work and it’s been a month or more. As I understand the aesthetic of getting over it is to coax rage and frustration, I hope this isn’t an intentional mechanic...

Fun, but lots of issues
I enjoy the game in and of itself, minus all the technical issues with it. I can’t play this game for long periods of time because after about 30 minutes of playing, the hammer starts to gain a mind of its own. I the controls get worse the longer you play it. Another problem is about every other time I open the game, it is completely broken, and frozen in place. Some parts of the game are way more difficult than they should be. The part that really makes the hammer sensitivity go crazy is from the toilet to the orange. That part is nearly unplayable in its current state. I would give it 5 stars if it weren’t for all these technical problems.

plz fix this
So the gameplay is really fun and this game is really fun in general everything about the game I like, BUT I quite the game and then went back on it few hours later and it showed this weird glitched out screen, so I figured well sometimes this happens, so then I restarted my iPhone 5s and went back on it and it did the same thing. So basically I have to keep re installing it every time I have to play it which takes like 5min and it doesn’t save my progress and that voice keeps mocking me and playing stupid music, I also tried it on my iPad and it also glitches. So good game but I would like it a lot more if that didn’t happen thanks for reading.

Disgustingly unrefined controls
As someone who has beaten the game many times on pc, I was excited to see a mobile release. To my dismay, the controls are so awfully refined for a touchscreen that it makes me wonder if more that an hour of coding was put into it. The sensitivity bar changes virtually nothing, the tracking is inaccurate, and letting go and tapping again mid grab will cause your hammer to flail unpredictably in any direction. My suggestion: go get the game on your computer if you want a genuine experience. It will be miles more worthy of your time and money.
EDIT: The no acceleration mode fixes many of these issues, but many still exist as this game is still developing to its full potential on mobile. Good work!

Flawed adaptation to touchscreens
This is a mouse game. You should probably get it for your computer instead.
That the controls are clumsy is kind of the point, but in the original you have ways of making it at least feel right for your own mousing habits. That is, you can set the sensitivity and acceleration. That's also true in this version, but without a mouse, acceleration is a confounding design problem, not a helpful feature. When the input device is the output device, you want direct 1:1 manipulation of what you touch, like any system scroll view or picker control, or the slingshot in angry birds. Pointer acceleration on a touchscreen feels like typing in mittens, and not in the way that the game seems to intend.
What made me stop playing was a performance issue while using the 60 FPS setting on iPhone X. When the game drops many frames during a drag, input acceleration produces unintended jumps in motion, even with sensitivity and acceleration turned all the way down.

About Getting Over It
The game is set in a surreal world where the player controls a man stuck in a cauldron with a sledgehammer. The objective of the game is to climb a mountain using only the sledgehammer and the player's wits. The game is designed to be difficult, with the player having to navigate a series of obstacles and challenges that require precise movements and careful planning.
One of the unique features of Getting Over It is the way the game handles failure. When the player falls off the mountain or makes a mistake, they are sent back to the beginning of the game. This can be frustrating, but it also adds to the game's challenge and encourages players to keep trying until they succeed.
The game's graphics and sound design are simple but effective, with a minimalist art style and a haunting soundtrack that adds to the game's surreal atmosphere. The game's humor is also a standout feature, with Bennett Foddy's dry wit and self-deprecating humor adding to the game's charm.
Overall, Getting Over It is a challenging and unique game that has become a cult classic in the gaming community. Its challenging gameplay, quirky humor, and surreal atmosphere make it a must-play for gamers looking for a challenge.
