We stayed from 12/21/24 - 1/4/25 at a 2 bdr Grand Luxxe Villa advertised as 5 star. One of our rooms and patio was infested with Mexican Twig Ants that looked more like spiders and came out at night. They crawled on our daughter while she slept, and stung her. She suffered bad headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, blurred vision for days, and finally difficulty breathing before we realized the cause of her illness and called for a doctor to treat her for anaphylaxis as her bronchial had been compromised by this point. Despite several calls for cleaning, our room had filthy glass slider tracts, further insects, and mold in the shower. Upon check out we expected compensation, but after almost two hours discussing his with the manager, plus a phone call later from home, we were offered $400 off of our bill or an additional two night stay. It is our position that we paid for a five star villa and did not receive five star level accommodations. In addition, their negligence regarding cleanliness resulted in injury to our child and inability to fully enjoy our vacation. Since management was willing to compensate us appropriately, we felt it necessary to dispute the prepayment we had made with our credit card company towards food and beverage during our stay at Vidanta
