Home for Good Dog Rescue dog confiscation

We recently adopted a dog and at one point we thought that we would have to return our dog due to allergy issues. The issues improved and we decided that we could not part with our dog and would be keeping her. We thought they would be thrilled and went in person to tell them. The co-owners Toni Ann Turco and Richard Errico became livid, that we were keeping her and screamed, waving arms in my husband's face in front of the volunteers that if we did not return our dog immediately that they were taking us to court and we would incur all costs. Our dog was cruelly forced from our loving home and hearts for no reason. My son returned the dog to prove he had no allergic reaction. Yes, a rescue that takes away dogs so they can earn double the fee. I cried for weeks truly heartbroken. On top of that they then lied and denied the incident ever happened to the multiple agencies I reported them to. They proudly state that they have "no remorse" for the way they treat people. Toniann's favorite taunt is "take me to court".
They are unlicensed and unregistered therefore have no oversight. Even vet techs don't have to be credentialed. They are now the local pet shop without the rules and regulations ensuring the safety of the dogs. It is time for this type of rescue to be accountable to someone regarding finances, sanitation, record keeping etc. and the welfare of these animals. They are misleading people with flowery and untrue profiles of these dogs on their website. My dog was falsely advertised as "loving scenic drives", when in fact had severe car sickness and had to be physically forced shaking into a car. She must have had a miserable drive up from S. Carolina. The "fostering" involved a few hours in NJ before we got her.
They have well over 100 negative reviews from adoptees, staff and volunteers for a reason. They are a poorly run "rescue" headed by self gratifying little chieftains. Their zealously has left them heartless. Read the contract...you have no rights. Despicable, lying thieves. I miss my dog terribly and don't know how they sleep at night.

Home for Good Dog Rescue Mistreatment, Misled, Abusive treatment

My family and I submitted an application for a dog. Although we are dog owners and dog lovers, we had a dog that attacked my spouse in 2009 and we were forced to surrender her after working with our vet and trainers. We were initially denied our application, but after a lengthy phone call with one of the employees, the employee assured us that we had done everything we could and they better understood the nature of the surrender. We were then approved. We found a dog and we set up a meet and greet with the dog. We brought all three of our children and our dog to meet the puppy. Three of the employees who we encountered treated us disdainfully and rudely. They lectured our children and were very rude and curt with us from the minute we met them. Although they allowed us to play with the puppy and even hold him, they then brought us inside to meet with someone name Toni Anne. Toni Anne was extremely rude, to the point she was abusive. She seemed set on not giving us the dog, with really no explanation. Our children and myself began to cry at the level of frustration and confusion I was feeling. No one offered to help and her rudeness was witnessed by several people in the room, including a foster home couple. We were then told that we wouldn't get the dog based on our application, which had already been approved. When I tried to speak, she told me she was done talking to me and walked out of the store, leaving me standing there with three crying children. Since this happened I have filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce. These people seem to not actually want anyone to get the dogs. They are arbitrary and confusing in their system and it is cruel to allow a family to meet a dog, fall in love and then take it away for unknown reasons. We have adopted animals in the past from two other rescues, including St. Hubert's, and this has never happened. I think it should be noted that two previous foster homes from the organization, left because of the abusive and rude treatment of the director and owner. This is absolutely NOT a "charity" - it is a power trip for people with little else in their lives.

Home for Good Dog Rescue False pretenses, & abusive treatment

To whom it may concern:

I was hired as the Communications and Marketing Manager of Home for Good Dog Rescue. Shortly after starting the position, I witnessed several instances of what I would refer to as employee verbal and mental abuse.

The co-founders scream at employees, curse, and constantly gossip about other staff members, volunteers and adoptive families creating a hostile and highly negative corporate culture. They work you to death during the week, and then in addition try to insist you be on call on weekends without getting financially compensated. Although I was an hourly employee, I was harassed about working on communication projects on weekends from my home office. When I asked about compensation, they refused and said it was part of the job. (See email proof below).

They do not offer lunch breaks to their employees, and frown on people stepping out of the office for a break even though you work an eight hour day!

Importantly, HFGDR misrepresented my salary, and when I held them to the original promises during the interview and acceptance procedures they became hostile and said they couldn't afford my salary although they are taking trips via private jet on their rescue missions down South and constantly holding fund raisers to support their operational costs.

I have witnessed work place bullying and this is the most unprofessional organization I have ever seen.

They have had about 75% turnover of employees, and it's not a surprise to figure out why.

BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS IF APPLYING TO THIS ORGANIZATON. They are abusive, unprofessional and are not whom they appear to be. Just check Yelp and other reporting agencies for more information and complaints about Home for Good Dog Rescue.

After losing our terrier of 8 years my husband and I were ready to potentially adopt a dog we fell in love with online. After being approved for the dog, we were asked to come up with a plan for potty breaks since both of us worked. While we were completely willing to do so, and even asked for Toni's recommendations TWICE (after all it is almost impossible to hire a walker with no dog for them to meet first) she wrote my husband and I this one liner email that completely blind sighted us. What a rude, terrible woman.

If a dog is staying alone 8-9 hours per day, maybe you should consider why you would want to bring a dog into your home with your schedules.

We, along with the rest of America, work to support our families. I don't think that means we are unfit to own a dog...

I could not agree more. Toni Ann Turco is a fraud a sham an abuser and a imbalanced narcissistic personality disordered Hitler. Nothing she says or does makes any logical sense to a normally functioning mind. She makes Donald Trump look like Mother Teresa. I warn any people who are looking to volunteer or potentially adopt from this sham of a rescue to avoid this place like the plague. Save yourself and your sanity from ever having to deal with a full-on nutcase like Toni Ann Turco. I speak from experience!
