3mo Gift Subscription Never Received, Horrible Support
I ordered a 3 month Doki Doki gift subscription for my niece on July 23, 2023 along with a 3 month Japan Crate pre-paid subscription for myself. I received my Japan Crate on August 2nd and on August 10th contacted support because my niece had not received her first crate and the shipping status had not updated since August 1st where the status showed "Picked Up by Shipping Partner, USPS Awaiting Item."
I've contacted support several more times since then and each time they assure me that it's on its way. I contacted them again on August 21st and was told "unfortunately, due to unforeseen delays, your July Doki crate was not shipped on schedule. Please know, the crate has since been packaged and waiting for courier pickup." Since when?
I was provided the same tracking information which today on August 28th still shows "Picked Up by Shipping Partner, USPS Awaiting Item" and has not changed since August 1st.
Responses from support continue to be obtuse, unhelpful and sometimes contradictory. One day support responds with "Your July Doki Doki crate was picked up and is heading toward the USPS facility in New Jersey" and "Please continue to monitor your package using the tracking link we've provided for now" and another I hear "due to unforeseen delays, your July Doki crate was not shipped on schedule. Please know, the crate has since been picked up and bound to the USPS sorting facility."
Their offer for resolving the issue of my niece not receiving the goods I paid for is "we can help refund the July Doki seeing the delay is significant." What does this mean? Does this mean my niece will not get her entire 3 month gift subscription and only get 2 boxes? Will they refund me a third of the cost?
I have not replied to their proposed solution. I feel I have been scammed by a business that accepts payment without any intention of supplying the goods they're selling and has not meaningfully resolved an issue that is well within their control when I've made it clear that I just want my niece to receive the gift I bought from them.
I'm a huge fan of subscription boxes for myself and as gifts, but I will never again use or recommend Japan Crate.
Recommendation: Avoid Japan Crate at all costs. Use other, reputable subscription box services!

This company makes it hard for you to cancel your subscription
This company makes it hard for you to cancel your subscription. Ignores your requests to a hold on your subscription and charges you fees because of their mishaps. I've seen quite a few emails and only got responses to part of my request. I'm still in the process of trying to cancel and they are ignoring my requests. This has been going on for a month now.

They initially advertised free shipping with their boxes so I signed up for 12 months
They initially advertised free shipping with their boxes so I signed up for 12 months. Soon after, they started to charge for shipping. Unfortunately, I was not notified of this through phone or email and only noticed after I checked with my bank. I consulted with their customer support and there was no agreement on a shipping refund or even the chance of canceling my subscription.

I ordered a three month gift subscription for my niece as a Christmas gift
I ordered a three month gift subscription for my niece as a Christmas gift. There were some issues with her claiming the gift but eventually that part was settled. The gift box did not arrive as promised so I followed up with the company about the delivery date. They never responded to my inquiry about shipping the crates. I have since followed up with my credit card company to dispute the charge to my account. I would caution anyone not living in Japan to avoid ordering from this company. They post plenty of cute photos of their crates online but my guess is that few are delivered to overseas customers at all.

There was no warning before auto renewing, which is pretty typical with most companies
There was no warning before auto renewing, which is pretty typical with most companies. I think most reasonable people would appreciate, and expect, a reminder e-mail about a very expensive service. At this time, I don't feel that I can reasonably afford it, and they said that it's too bad and my fault. That's pretty awful customer service, but fine. However, there was an additional shipping charge that I would like removed, as I did not authorize an extra $60 to be tacked onto the total cost. If anything, I would prefer for this $5/month to be independently removed each month it's necessary, rather than the entire thing up front. When I brought this up to them, they essentially stated that I agreed to it already because it's been communicated through social media(which I do not use) & through an e-mail. The e-mail explicitly states that you can opt-out of the additional cost and resume your subscription when it is no longer necessary. They are completely denying me the ability to do this currently, stating that they cannot refund any portion of what was paid. This is the actual first time in my life I've had to complain about a company having such abysmal customer service, and unwillingness to help. I would steer clear of this.

Japan crate premium subscription
On november 2nd 2023 I was charged for my second box with japan crate. My first box, october 2nd, arrived within 10 days. This box is still completely unfulfilled with zero help from customer support. I have emailed customer support about 8 times about the status of my crate and receive the same response every. Single. Time.
I have now canceled my subscription because I refuse to be charged for a third box when I haven’t even gotten any updates on my second box. Halloween box for christmas….. Nice.
My order number is 171645
Desired outcome: I would either like my money refunded or a genuine update on the status of my purchase.
Inku crate still hasn't shipped.
I ordered the inky crate the first week of July but haven't received even an email update. I heard they are backed up, but shouldn't there be an email response? If they aren't going to send this month's, which is the one I wanted then I want to know how to get a refund from them. I've had issues with them before but not with them sending it out. Only with their DHL deliveries not reading the address or caring that they weren't at the right apartment complex. In one they weren't even in my state apparently.
Regardless, I want to know an exact shipping time for JULY's inku crate and if it won't be shipped this month and instead am getting next month's, then I want to cancel my order and get it refunded as I'm not going to deal with this again.
Desired outcome: Either direct response and proper information about WHEN it will ship and how long it'll take (and get it expedited for a months worth of wait time) or cancel and refund the order.
On October, 30, 2021 I ordered from Japan Crate for the price of $35.95 for the monthly subscription
On October, 30, 2021 I ordered from Japan Crate for the price of $35.95 for the monthly subscription. I would be charged a second time for the second month on November 30th of 2021 for another $35.95 before I received my crate. I still have not received either before I was charged for a third time on January 1st, 2022. Also for $35.95.I emailed in regards to this problem, I asked for at least a refund for the previous boxes. They sent me two tracking numbers that confirmed that labels were made but they were never shipped. I was refused a refund for all of the boxes that never arrived or the newest charge. I would like a full refund for all three months.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The business sent the wrong box and is now refusing to allow a return. Their customer service rep is rude, short and uncaring. I have returned the box already and expect a full refund.

Copying and pasting from my message to their support team: I ordered the February Japancrate and had my subscription email sent to me January
Copying and pasting from my message to their support team: I ordered the February Japancrate and had my subscription email sent to me January 21st. On the exact same day, I selected "Skip next renewal," after which I received an email confirming that I skipped said renewal, making April 1 my next renewal date. I never unskipped, and have the documentation of these instances. Nonetheless, last night, February 28th, my card was charged and I received an email saying "Your Japan Crate subscription has renewed!" I did not make this purchase, I did not unskip this month, and I need this resolved- it's an expensive and illegal charge for something I didn't buy.

I ordered a 3 month gift japancrate in January. Which to my knowledge was not a subscription so i would not be charged again. The prepaid gift is $143 and i was charged for another 3 months. I love the crates but i currently do not want and cannot afford being down $143. I have proof of it being a gift and not a subscription because when gifted a crate it is $0.00. Not sure if it is because the website being renewed and updated changed my gift to a subscription but I would like a refund asap.
Japan Crate charged me for a 6 month subscription. I canceled this subscription before this charge and even emailed them about making sure I am no longer subscribed. After finding out that I was charged I tried to access the account I had with them. Tried to use the forgot my password because I was having issues. None of my emails have an account associated with Japan Crate anymore. So they have my debit card information and are still charging me even though my account no longer exists. Tried to contact them via email (only way to contact them) and they are not responding.

They sent me tracking at that time for that shipment. *** shows the label was made Nov 29 but a package was never received and they are still awaiting it. Contacted them Feb 7 to let them know still nothing has arrived. And that I would like a refund as they never provide any tracking information indicating that these items were sent out to me.

Charged $281.70 for a renewal that was not requested. Did not receive an email stating there was an auto-renewing subscription about to renew. Ordered one time gift 6 months ago, and now have a second undesired and unapproved charge. Company says they are justified. Curious as to what sort of digital or hand-written signatures with SOLID non-repudiation they can provide.
Ordered a crate with lucky bag nearly a month ago with advertised 2-3 shipping which mind you it still advertises that on its website. Took weeks to get response when I reached out(via PayPal as email was no response) finally after 2 weeks roughly I got a response that its all ready and just waiting for courier.. well that was two weeks ago.. I asked a few days ago and again no response. No tracking. No update at all. Very upset and feel Ive been scammed
I had taken a 6 month subscription starting April and since then, I haven't received the April, May or June crates
I had taken a 6 month subscription starting April and since then, I haven't received the April, May or June crates. I emailed them before about not receiving the April crate and they told me that it would reach me before June 29th, which has not occurred. Further, they have deducted money from my account on 6th June and on 30th June without any explanation for it. I have sent multiple emails and complaints but they have not gotten back to me in over one week. On shipping the crates, they sent emails saying that they will send the shipping details, but they do not do so and I am unable to track the crates. Hence I don't even know if the crates have really shipped or not.

Like many other previous complaints I am extremely dissatisfied with the auto-renewal
Like many other previous complaints I am extremely dissatisfied with the auto-renewal. I did not realize the auto-renewal would occur and could not be cancelled for the whole term of the renewal. Whatever process is used on sign-up may have had something about this but it was not so apparent as to draw my attention at the time, and I am well-educated. I also note they had no trouble emailing with with marketing materials, but provided no notice of the pending auto-renewal. I contacted this company on the date of the auto-renewal as they sent out an email stating the subscription had been "successfully" auto-renewed. Nothing had been packaged or shipped yet. I told them I wanted to cancel and did not realize it would auto-renew. I was just told no. No refunds for the whole six month auto-renewal. VERY POOR PRACTICES that would be illegal where I live. I'm surprised this is permitted in California - if it is.

In October I ordered a gift subscription for my daughter
In October I ordered a gift subscription for my daughter. On December 25th, she redeemed the 6 month, $ 200 gift.We have yet to receive a SINGLE crate. When I contacted them about it they told me that they had sent two out and I should be patient. When I let them know that I still hadn't received any and wanted a refund, I was told that due to supply issues, I would need to pay MORE to upgrade my subscription. I said absolutely not, I wanted a refund. I have been given the runaround and told that they shipped my items, but they won't provide me with a tracking number. THEN they told me that they CAN'T ship my items unless I pay EXTRA and upgrade. I just want my $200 dollars back. It was a gift for my daughter, who was experiencing a rough patch in her life; I thought it would cheer her up. But it's been nothing but trouble and lies from Japan Crate.I've seen numerous complaints about them since, so I'll know that it's not just me.

I purchased a gift for my husband R*** R*** back in 2019
I purchased a gift for my husband R R back in 2019. It was a 12 month subscription for Japanese snacks. So the purchase was a year ago. Last night I received notification of an autorenewal that took place in the amount of $380. I immediately contacted the company and asked that the cancel the subscription and refund my money. I also pointed out that they never sent me a notification that the auto renewal was going to take place to give me time to cancel the subscription from a year ago. I contacted the company and they said because i signed up for the subscription they will not refund my money and I'm stuck with $380 worth of snacks. Additionally, as these come from Japan the corona virus is something that should be taken into consideration as it is not something I want in my home. Had they sent an auto renewal notification (even if it was only a 24 hour notification) I would have canceled. It is irresponsible of a company to act without any consideration from their customers.

Since I moved in September I have received ONE of my crates
Since I moved in September I have received ONE of my crates. I promptly updated my address information on the Japan Crate website to ensure that I continue receiving my crates with my new address. Despite this, Japan Crate was still sending my packages to my old address. I submitted a ticket to try to have them manually update my address in case there was an issue with the website. I was asked which packages I was missing; at the time I didn't care - I wrongly assumed the problem would now be fixed. Since then I didn't receive any packages until this week, where the package was FINALLY delivered to my new address. Today I received a notification about my next delivery - to my old address. I tried logging into their website only to find that my account was deleted by them. I created an account under the same email and apparently they still have my old address on file because that's what was showing on my account page.I don't know what kind of sketchy scam they are pulling, but now I want my money back.

I bought a premium Japan crate on January 13th 2022 with delayed shipping
I bought a premium Japan crate on January 13th 2022 and was informed that shipping would be express, taking 2 to 3 days. However, as of February 27th 2022, the crate has not arrived. I've received no shipping confirmation email, despite assurances of delivery by February 28th. After multiple inquiries, support provided a tracking number that shows no progress beyond label creation. Subsequent attempts to engage with the company have been met with silence, leaving me without information on the whereabouts of my order or assistance in resolving the issue. The lack of effort to address my concerns is both frustrating and disappointing.

I ordered the March Crate (order ****) and I didn't get a tracking number (but they stated that it was shipped 25th February)
I ordered the March Crate (order ***) and I didn't get a tracking number (but they stated that it was shipped 25th February). A few weeks pass by, I asked them where the crate was. Waited nearly a week for them to answer. Got asked to confirm my adress. Waited nearly a week again for the next answer. The customer support was painfully slow, but kind. They agreed to send a new one, because the it probably got lost. Perfect, surely it would arrive this time. Right? A few weeks go by, I ask them for tracking number. This time I got one. This is where I discover that they scam people. They create a shipping label so that it seems that is has shipped. But they don't send it out. I've called DHL and they confirmed that there were no package up for collection. (https://www.dhl.com/br-en/home/tracking/tracking-express.html?submit=1&tracking-id=***. I am asking for a refund! I emailed them 6 days ago but they haven't replied. It seems that they selectively send out some packages to seem reliable, but from what I've seen, A LOT of people haven't seen traces of their packages. It's not worth the headaches, folks!

I wanted to order a short term subscription of their "Gacha Gatcha Crate" as a gift
I wanted to order a short term subscription of their "Gacha Gatcha Crate" as a gift.I noted in the *** on their website that "Gift subscriptions require a minimum of 3 months".This was perfect for me as I wanted at least a few months but not an indefinitely recurring expense. The order page for the crate has little for input, but I added 3 and checked out. I expected to receive three boxes over the course of three months but instead received three boxes all at once.I reached out to the company about the issue. In exchanging messages with *** I found that I was actually subscribed to get three boxes every month. While trying to seek a resolution she said that they could not accept any returns as they sell "perishables". This doesn't apply to the crate I bought, though, and honestly that is a stretch for the crates that do include consumable items.I was told that they were "unable to issue a refund for your received crates or give the next crates free."Ultimately, the only resolution I got was to adjust the subscription to only have one box delivered. However, in that case I am still out $82.48 for two extra boxes I did not want because their ordering page is unclear about what exactly is being purchased.I have cancelled the subscription instead and will look elsewhere for what I want. If I can get a real resolution for this I will consider ordering from this company again.

I would like a refund from Japan Crate, due to them not providing the goods that I have paid for, and their extremely poor and misleading customer service.2nd of Feb *** - placed an order for the Doki Doki crate plus free Lucky Bag, on Japan Crates website.Shipping notification was late (over 10 business days) - but finally informed that it had shipped on the 25th of Feb. This was after contacting customer support a number of times. No tracking was provided, but this was expected *After waiting over 4 weeks, with no delivery, contacted customer support who advised me to wait for up to 6 weeks *The item has not been received (up until today), and I asked for a full refund *Japan Crate refused to provide a refund and instead said they would send out a replacement.I was not happy with this resolution but asked for tracking details to be provided, to ensure (1) they had actually sent the items and (2) I could track progress and see if there were any issues *Japan Crate confirmed that they would provide tracking details, via email *April 11th - informed a second crate had been shipped, but no tracking details were provided.*I had to contact customer support a number of times, they refused to provide tracking and I have no assurance that they ever attempted to send the crates, either now or the first time it was 'lost'Japan crate has received numerous complaints online and I suspect they are holding on to customer's funds without having the goods to provide the service. This could be considered fraudulent activity. Please could you look into this, I would like to receive a full refund.

I was charged on April 18th, 2022 for a subscription I cancelled on March 12th, 2022
I was charged on April 18th, 2022 for a subscription I cancelled on March 12th, 2022. I was able to login and cancel the service. When I tried to login again, it told me my account didn't exist. I got an email saying that I owed $0.00 on March 18th, 2022; and I took that as a confirmation that my service had been cancelled. I contacted them on April 18th, 2022 after seeing the transaciton was pending, and they repeated to me in every email that "They couldn't cancel the transaction because I didn't stop the subscription in time".They have admitted in a previous response on the Complaintsboard.com site, that their site has been having "glitches" on some of the accounts. They did not mention this once to me once in the email chain. I've disputed the charge, and they waited until they shipped me a box to then challenge the dispute.I can no longer log in on their front page. There is a legacy page not linked to on their main page and *** They changed the site to make it impossible to cancel without looking at the site's html source to find the link. The only think I can think happened, is that they only forward you to the legacy page if you currently have a subscription, otherwise they tell you the account doesn't exist. I believe now that the email for $0.00 I received on March 18th, *** for the service after I cancelled, which is either them mistakenly loading old data from a recovery database, or them maliciously signing me back up for the service without my permission. When I see $0.00, the first conclusion I come to is that I will not receive the service anymore, either that or the service is now free (which I wouldn't expect).I want my $549.45 refunded, I should not be held accountable for their database issues. And do not reply with "You didn't cancel your service" because I know I did.

on the 14th of September I had placed an order with Japan Crate for a premium crate the total including taxes was $54.95 a month had not received the box when it had auto renewed for another $54.95 on 14 October. on the 27th of October i had sent an email to the generic email they have stating i havent recieved my boxe by the date specified and asked if they had any information on its whereabouts a day later on the 28th of october i receive an email back from a *** yes one of them is scheduled to arrive so to wait an additional 1-2 days and reach out if not received and "they'll definitely further assist me (what a joke!)". so by this point i'm getting pretty frustrated (29 October i get a notification that the November crate I'm guessing the one that was autorenewed had left the warehouse (so the second crate not the first. still had not received the first) then 30 October after the additional two days requested by *** i contacted them again still had not received even one box sked where it may be *** then replied on the 1st of November said my october premium crate was shipped on schedule and should have arrived and asked me to confirm my shipping address which i have used for plenty of online shopping so i confirmed my address on the same day (1 November ) all was correct. Nov 2nd i get an email back from guess who *** who says they have submitted a request to have it reshipped and i will be notified when it leaves and if the original shows then let them know. Geez you got high hopes *** obviously it aint showing up love.. any way theres a bit more correspondence between us i have also sent a DM on *** to them and Instagram and plenty more requested tickets on their website to date (10th of December ) i have not recieved any boxes or my money back which has been requested countless times please i don't care about the box. know you have messed up and give me my money back.
