Just Brakes Fraud and cheating

I took my car to Just Brakes for new front brakes that were advertised for $99. The mechanic came to get me and showed with amazement that I had some kind of mysterious ailment with my front pads...they weren't worn evenly. He then showed me the rear brake pistons, pushed back the rubber seals to reveal a few drops of brake fluid, and declared that the pistons were bad and brake fluid was just 'pouring out' (never mind that in 4 years I had never added brake fluid and it was still at the full level). Sadly, he let me know that all would have to be replaced...including the front pistons. When I refused and stated I just wanted the pads replaced for $99 he let me know that it 'just wouldn't be safe' and refused to do the service.

They informed me the repair would cost $300 or so. My car was already dismantled and I was afraid to drive it without the work so I agreed to get it done. I left the car at the shop cuz they said it'd be a few hours before itd be done. After I left I got a call saying that they found a few more minor issues & the repairs would cost a little over $400. I wasn't happy about it but agreed to have it done, after being told they couldn't do the brakes if I didn't have the work done & they weren't able to reassemble the car without these repairs. They called me to pick up my vehicle & told me the total was over $1000. I argued with the man over the phone for a good 15 minutes about the cost & he lowered the price to $900, then $800, then $700 then $750... All the way to $550. Upon returning to pick up the vehicle the cashier told me the total was $650. I argued with the man even though he assured me he was giving me such a great deal & he could loose his job for doing it but wasn't getting anything accomplished except more & more upset so I paid it. They also informed me that there was another $300-$400 worth of repairs that needed to be done for the car to be safe. Mad as hell I left having paid $650 for a $99 brake job.

A week later my car starting making some horrible screeching noises & not properly braking. It got so bad that I felt it wasn't drivable so I had it towed into a local shop where they inspected the cars brakes system. I was told that the noise was caused by the rear brakes had been reassembled incorrectly & this caused additional damage. After paying stupid Just Brakes $650 I had to spend another $800 to fix what they screwed up!

Need to get my wheels barrier replace on the left driver side of my truck, the price started off at $500.00 dollar by the time I got a call the price was $1009.00. Okay, the manager was saying now I need to get my rotor replace, and I just had those done last year and brakes as well. Then the manager gave me the long story about my the tire falling off when he place my truck on the lift. Then I told him that I didn't have $1009.00 to get my truck repair, then he stated that if I didn't pay for entire repair, I won't be able to get my truck back with out paying something the minimum would be $500.00. Okay I drop the truck off on 18th of October and I explain that prior to leaving my truck that I didn't have the money.

So, I ask could I leave my truck here until the 31st of October, because I needed time to come up with money. Okay the manager agree I could leave my truck there and won't be charge a storage fee or diagnose fee. Okay after talking to the manager who was very disrespectful about not allow me to have my truck towed, I was speaking with on the phone and he never mention that my truck couldn't be towed. The store manager call me back a hour later and said that my truck couldn't be towed because it only had three tires, so he told the towing company that they couldn't take the truck. I wanted to have to truck towed back to my house which was walking distance. I called the corporate office and spoke the distance manager and he was worse the store manager. Bottom lines is don't ever take your vehicle to any of the Just Brakes they are about making money at your expense.

Just Brakes Really Bad Business Ethics

I know you have either come to this site to be proactive (I HOPE) or you just got "Duked" by Just Brakes and your complaint is like many of the ones on this board. You just went in for a simple brake job and Just Brakes Company came with a list of issues to fix or they tried to hustle you.

Please note... I want to know what's wrong with my car so, I can be proactive to fix the issue before it leaves me stranded but when I hear opinions from so called "Professionals" that does not seem to be legit, I begin to look further into the issue.

I went to Just Brakes for the $99.00 break special which I received. I drove off the the lot and my car's breaks were squealing loudly at every stop. I went home to wash my break pads because the break dust causes "MOST" Squealing from the brakes.

This did not totally fix the issue so, I took it back to find out what was wrong. I gave Just Brakes my wife's Cell (Which was not on their records) so, we could leave and they can call us to return when it was all done. Being my wife's number was not the original number they had to look up old records from the initial repair they had no records of the pre-inspection of my breaks.

Just Breaks Manager called me on my wife's cell and stated "Your Brake Calipers were bad and needed replacing to stop the squealing". I told the manager that it was not riding on the calipers and the calipers were fine because the car stopped fine and the brakes released fine when I let off the Brake Pedal and the only time I heard the squealing was when I was stopping.

The Just Brakes Manager went on and on about how bad my calipers were and insisted I change them. At the end of our conversation I drove back into Just Brakes to speak with the manager face to face so, we can truly understand the situation. When I finally got to the area where my car was they had a guy working frantically on putting my wheels back on the car. I asked the manager If i could see the problem he says we have already put your tires back on but you need new calipers and kept with this and the reasons why I needed to fix this issue. I said to the manager why didn't you say this the first time you inspected my breaks and the manager said this is your first time here... I gave them my cell number a their it was, my first inspection saying nothing about my calipers so, this sounded "Shady" so, I took my car to my personal mechanic in Snellville, GA and after his viewing he said I had NO, Not one issue with my calipers and the reason my breaks were squealing was because of the cheap pads Just Breaks placed on my car. After my mechanic put on new Metallic Brake Pads... No more squealing! Imagine that... Just Brakes wanted to make more money on such a simple job. No integrity and No Business ethics. Take your chance with these guys but I promise you will not be satisfied with their work.

LEARN BY LISTENING TO OTHERS AND IF NOT YOU WILL SOON BE THE HANDS ON EXPERT! Thank you all for your thoughts... I will do my research before hand from now on and I hope you will too.

I went to Just Brakes in Snellville GA on 9/27/2014. The same issue i was having at that time is the same issue that I am having today. I took my car to the dealership for an oil change and at that moment it was discovered that Just Brakes never shaved my rotors as they claimed. My brakes began squeaking again-only louder. I paid over $200.00 for no services. I am very disappointed and i dont understand how are they allowed to stay in business..

Sadly the customer's experience is typical. I worked for Just Brakes for over 10 years and the store managers are pushed to "up sell". When brakes are repaired, using the best quality parts is very important. You never want to "go cheap" with brake parts or rely on minimum wage employees to repair your brakes. Be safe and take your auto to a trusted repair facility, ask friends and family who they trust if you are not certain who should do repairs.

My mother took her car four year old car to this location and was told that there were major problems (calipers, leak in the back cylinders rotors, etc) with her entire brake system. The estimate was nearly $800.00. She called me upset and I instructed her to have them put the car back together and take it somewhere else. After having another inspection done, it was determined that there is nothing wrong with her brakes... including the fact that she has another 3000 miles or so before the pads even need to be replaced.

We had a similar experience with Just Brakes service in Snellville about a year ago. They tried to convince me and my husband that our Honda 2006 disks are in very bad shape and need replacement. The guy said that I had only 2-3 weeks to drive before I have a big problem with my car. Of course, the repair price went from $99 for just changing the brake pads to at least $500. Fortunately, my husband realized what’s going on and refused an offer. A year later, I didn’t have any issue with my car as Just Brakes professionals were predicting and glad that we didn’t change Honda original disks to some cheap disks that would have been installed.

Just Brakes Awful experience

On February 16, 2009, I went to Just Brakes in Stockbridge Georgia, because the highly attractive advertisement promised customers $99.98 brake job for both front and rear brake pads! Upon completion of the inspection, the Manager told me that they only carried the front pads for my 2004 Toyota Highlander, and that the rear pads were a 'specialty' pad, since they did not have them in stock and charged me an extra $88+ to have their 'source' deliver them to the shop. To my surprise, other Just Brakes locations carried the same brake pads in question. Ironically, another customer came in behind me with a 2001 Toyota Highlander, so while the manager was away, I warned him of their devious tactics. In addition, both the manager and the mechanic tried to get me to cough up an extra $788 for a brake fluid flush, rear rotors and from calipers. Oh, and did I mention that prior to this, Toyota changed my oil conducted a full complimentary inspection of my brakes and rotors and advised that I ONLY needed pads - nothing else. I have the inspectors signature to that effect. The only reason why I went to Just Brakes is because it would of course be cheaper than Toyota fixing the brakes. In conclusion, stay away from the Just Brakes shady mechanics and managers because what they'll tell you is JUST CRAP!

Just Brakes Don't go there!

I went for the $99 special. I was told my callipers or struts or something were leaking and something was wrong with my rotors and it would cost me $1300.00. Thinking my car was still under warranty, I took it to the dealership for a second opinion. As soon as I told them I had come from Just Brakes, they told me verbatim the lines I had just gotten from Just Brakes and said they do that to everyone and should be turned in to the Better Business Bureau! I then had my brakes done by my dealership. Now I'm disgusted every time I have to drive past this place! This place should be shut down! This was the shop on Russell Rd. in Henderson, NV, and I will never return there again and I will recommend the same to others.

Just Brakes Unauthorized billing

I should have used this site BEFORE going to Just Brakes...then I would have known their practices!

My car's brakes were squeaking, so I dropped off my car in the early morning for the $99 pads-and-shoes deal that they advertised - I'm new in Dallas, and thought they were my best option since I didn't know any local mechanics.

Mid-afternoon, I received a call saying that the car would need over $500 in repairs. The mechanic I talked too wouldn't give me too many specifics other than things like 'weak hoses, ' 'corroded rotors, ' 'dirty calipers' and such. He said it all in a tone that was like he was reading from a script.

However, I had had my car looked at by a mechanic I TRUSTED only about a month ago, before I moved, and he had only mentioned some wear on the pads. So I told the Just Brakes rep that I just wanted the pads and shoes replaced. He quoted me a new price, around $350, and said he wouldn't do any work unless I consented to at least that price. I told him just to put it back together and write me out a list of what was wrong, and I'd get a second opinion.

When I came back to get my car two hours later, the front right tire was completely flat! The mechanic vaguely mentioned something about how it was fine when they put it back on, and how 'slow leaks' can happen. These were 2-year-old tires that I'd checked one month ago and were filled when I came in. They finally agreed to fill up the tire, but accused me of 'cussing them out' and 'overreacting' when I simply asked to see a manager.

Five days later, and my tire is doing fine and has not lost any pressure. I'm not sure if the flat tire was due to incompetence or retaliation for turning them down, but I'm worried about what else they may have done to my brake system. I'm certainly doing my research before I take my car to another repair shop here!

JUST BRAKES IN TUCSON AZ. CHARGED ME $3150.00 FOR A WHOLE NEW BRAKE SYSTEM. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THEM TO DO THE WORK. THE MANAGER DAMEN REFUSES TO GIVE ME MY CAR, UNTIL I PAY FOR SOMETHING I DID NOT AUTHORIZE. I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER CAR TO GET ME TO WORK AND BACK. MY CAR IS A 1994 HONDA ACCORD. BLUE BOOK SAYS MY CAR IS NOT WORTH $3150.00. HOW CAN THESE GUYS GET AWAY WITH THIS? THANK YOU, ANNA IN TUCSON AZ.

My brakes were squeaking, but only in the morning. I called to set up an appointment for 4:30 on April 6th, 2009. At 4:25 went to Just Brakes and stated I would wait for my car. Eric and Darren went over my car pointing out crystalized pads, and worn wheel cylinders. It would cost me $509.99, instead of their advertised price of $99.88. I told them I am a single mother and could not afford that. They said just do the $99.88 and the brake fluid flush at $39.99. (Eric said that brake fluid flush needed to be done every 12, 000 miles) I told them I needed to call someone and ask them what they thought. They said don't get the brake flush because if you need new wheel cylinders it will need to be done again. I told him to do the brakes at $99.88, but not the flush. Darren said to bring it back when I could do all of it. I told Darren to just put it all together and I will think about it. I went to another company Palm Tire Automotive and had them look at my brakes. Palm Tire said there was nothing wrong with my brakes at all, they did not need to be replaced, everything was fine, pads were fairly new. I was one of the lucky ones who asked someone else. I am so glad I have friends who know about brakes, because Just Brakes sounded very convincing. I am glad there are some companies you can still trust, JUST BRAKES IS NOT ONE OF THEM.

Just Brakes Bait & Switch

I have been to some pretty sleazy places for car work but these guys top the list. I took my wife's car in for front break pads to be replaced and have the rotors machined since they advertised a good price. What was originally $99 to have the mentioned work done, sprang to $360 since the fast talking, pushy font desk guy insisted that they needed to add shims and a whole bunch of other stuff to the car so the job would be done right. I took the car instead to Sears and had everything done for $140. I called and asked Just Brakes why they quoted $360 when Sears did it for $140 and their response was, "Because Sears probably did it wrong". Needless to say my wife has had no problems after 2 years. These guys are crooks...DO NOT GO THERE !

Just Brakes Stay away!

Just Brakes in Lakeland, went there 4 Feb 09. 2 customers in the office had been there for 3 hours, bills were up to $1000.00 and $600.00. My GMC truck needed pads and the rotors turned. Within 5 minutes the bleed valve on my right calliper was discovered to be broken and leaking...wait it is not leaking the mechanic's wrench had fluid on it, but the valve head was gone and since one calliper needed to be replace the other side needed one also. The $99s were now close to $500, I left with the truck.

I took my car in and Just Brakes takes it all apart. Then tell me, "Oh, you'll have to leave your car here because we don't carry your brake pads, and those pads will cost you $300". Can you believe that? So I call Auto Zone and they it costs 25-40 bucks for the front and back. They tried to charge me almost triple the cost! Then they took 2 hours to put my car together. They even broke my brake sensor on the front brake! This business is ridiculous. It seems you can't trust anyone.

STAY WELL AWAY... my husband was quoted $99, then once they took the car apart was told it would be more like $650.. when my husband refused this they said that it would be a problem to put it together again.. my husband made the mistake of negotiating with them down to $330; only for us to return 5 hours later and get a bill for $454... when my husband argued with them the fact that they had quoted him $330 upon agreeing to have the work done they called him a liar and showed him some paperwork that he had signed that had not actually had the price displayed there upon doing so... bottom line is that this is a big big con... STAY AWAY.. you will get ripped off and robbed off your hard earned cash... they commit fraud and are cheats and liars.. will be reporting them to the BBB as well

I've also been checking the net for similar complaints, as it seems this company is flooded with them... how do these people stay in business? Surely consumers should be better protected and be able to do more about this sort of thing!

Today I took my vehicle to "Just Brakes" for their $99 special offer. I admit I knew that my rear brakes were in need of attention and was willing to pay some extra to have the matter attended to.
After all the wheels are off then the "danger" spiel is invoked and figures for fixing the potential hazard are spewed out like an election stump speech. Five hours later and $370 poorer the car is road tested? AND the front brakes were not attended to at all!
I was not the only person there entrapped by this $99 special. In fact NO customer that came in for it got it!
Another young man who waited even longer and who had just lost his job but was putting safety ahead of a trip home for Christmas ( he had just 66, 000 on the car but said he had a squeak) was taken for $265 and was "out of his mind" as to what his wife would do when he told her their $1000 until unemployment compensation came through was now $265 shorter!
This company needs to evaluate its business model as there are only so many people who can get taken without the word getting around.

Don’t be another victim, just don’t go Just Brakes, it was all scam.

Just Brakes ripping people off by utilizing bait & switch tactics to get people in and take apart their car so that they have no choice.
I went to Just Brakes on 600 E. Williams Cannon Rd at Austin, TX on 9/25/2017; I got terrible experience on their service.

Basically here is what Just Brakes Company (nation wide) will do to ripped you off

(1) They will offer to put your car up on the lift and mess up the car if they can. (They broke my disc caliper pin, and then they said my pin jammed inside the caliper, and then told me I need a new disc caliper). I think they think once they have the car on the lift, then they take your brake apart, during their operation, they tried to break something if they have the chance (I was not around my car area as they were checking my car).

(2) And when you want to go somewhere, they just don’t let you go, I begged them to put back everything(brake drum, disc caliper, tires) like before, they just said “because of the safety issue, they not going to let you leave, and one of the foreman told me, if I want to take out the car, I need to get a tow truck, They removed all the tires, disc calipers, brake drum from my car, how can the tow truck tow it away. They just want to keep my car there and ripped me off.

(3) They showed me some fluid that was just under some rubber seals around the two wheels cylinders on my rear drum brake. What made me suspicious though was when they tried to tell me that 3 or 4 more brake problems came out at same time, I'm a brake mechanic several years ago, the bake system for domestic car have not change a lot since then. I know 3 or 4 more brake problem would not all be leaking in the same way. I was 99.999% sure it was all a scam... Finally I need to pay $455 for all these unnecessary part replacements (2 wheel cylinders and one disc caliper). If I just re-surface the disc rotor and replaced front brake pads at other store, it cost only $69.99 at the most. Compared with $455, it is BIG different.

I took my 2017 Nissan Sentra to Just Brakes. I dropped it off at 10 AM. I called at 1pm and the manager said it wasnt done. he called an hour later and said the car didnt need anything, shocks, etc. were all fine. He called at 3 and said the brakes sit on a "special " boot that they do not carry and it would be an extra $50.00. I finally picked up the car at 4. 4 days later, I hear squeeking from the brakes, worse than when I took it in. I called the manager and he said they have to be broken in at least 300 miles. I said its been like 400 miles. He told me to give it another day or so and call him back if it repeats. So, after a couple more days, still squeeks, so I take it in. He changes the pads. 4 days later, still squeeks. I buy pads myself from Autozone and have a bud replcae them..no more squuek. $99.00 brake job comes out to 250.oo. Just Brakes suck

My wife's SUV seemed to pull to the right and had a shimmy when at 70 mph. We had suspected, due to mileage, that our brakes needed repair, so we got advice from my elder brother that "Just Brakes" specialized in well...just brakes. He reasoned that that alone made them a good choice for our repairs and they advertized a set price for the front and rear brakes. So we set an appointment. We took in a movie while the vehicle was checked out. When we returned there was a customer at the counter really mad that the repair bill was allot more than advertized. We waited and when it was our turn we were informed that our repairs needed would run almost $600! We asked what we owed at that time and were told nothing, so we politely went our way. The following day we went to the dealership where we purchased and were told our front end needed alignment and it would cost around $100. Everything else was A-OK they said. I advise that customers of "Just Brakes" get a second opinion before allowing them to proceed.

I took my Expedition in because the brakes were grinding. They told me I Medes to replace the calipers and that I Needed new drums at the price of over $800. I had just lost my husband who always took car of car repairs and had just replaced the drums about 6 months earlier. Not knowing that much about calipers I agreed to that but not the drums. They said by LAW they couldn't let me drive out with these needed repairs. After me stating that I didn't have $800 to spend they agreed to just turn the drums, replace the calipers and brake pads for $387. A few weeks later I had my car checks by a reputable mechanic who told me that they had not put new calipers on my car. Just Brakes is the biggest rip off and they totally take advantage of people who do not know better.

1998 Durango $750.00 the first time one year later another $325.00. What a scam. The first time I almost had the entire brake system overhauled. I heard a little squeaking noise, took it back to Just Brakes and they told me that they had to replace some of the same parts that were put in less than 10, 000 miles ago and I would have to pay the labour. If I paid the labour to put the inadequate or defective part in why should I have to pay for the same labour for a part that should not need to be replaced.

So true that parts should last over 130000 miles and the pads for around 550000 if they are semi metallic. They put the cheapest of parts on every one's cars and over charge for the parts and lie and say everything is bad every time you go there. They should be closed down for good!

I went there one time and I have told everyone I know to never go there as I do most of the work on my car myself and I know what things cost. I just wanted my rotors machined on the car for the right price and I only had 50000 miles on new my car. They told me that everything on my cars brake system was bad lol What a joke! All I needed was the rotors turned and I took my own brake pads to them to use. They told me they had to order special pads for my car that would be $80 instead of using the $18 ones that I brought to them to install that were semi-metallic pad with a life time warranty on them. Well I paid for their pads and the rotors being turned but not the $980 of stuff that claimed it needed. The c****y brake pads were worn out in 3 months so I put on the good pads that I had already as they last 55000 miles or more.I drove that car for 200000 more miles with out having to do the back brakes they claimed were out lol. If they were out than the parking brake wouldn't work. This place will rob you blind and should be shut down for good as they rip off everyone that comes in their doors.

Just Brakes Same Just brakes complaint/ different day

Went to get the 99 dollar brake job from 'Just Brakes'. It was the worst experience of my life. The told me that I needed new rotors and calipers ( which I did not). I just needed new pads. My rotors were relatively new. He told me that he could not just put the pads on and the price was over 500 dollars. I told I cannot afford that. He told me that he cannot just do the pads again and priced it down to 400 dollars. Now, my brakes make a scrubbing sound when I press on the brakes after their repair and he told me that that sound should go away in a 'few hundred miles' of driving. I just went there for brake pads. Now, I have brakes that scrub when i press on them! NEVER GO TO JUST BRAKES!

Just Brakes Terrible experience

I called Just Brakes on 11/09/08 to get estimate for replacing brakes on my 2003 BMW X5. The rep. introduced himself as Bo-J and said it would cost $99 plus. He said to drop the car for an estimate. So, I dropped my car there and after 45 minutes he called me saying to come by and check to see what needs to be done. He wouldn't discuss the price on the phone. When I got there my car was on the lift with all four wheels off. His mechanic proceeded to show me that the boots on the front axle were torn and leaking oil. This seemed obscured since I just took the car to Honest-1 Auto a few week earlier for a brake inspection and they didn't mention anything about the boots being torn. Also the car was inspected at BMW dealership a few months ago! I just wanted to get the cheapest estimate available to replace the front brakes. My car has only 45K miles. It's highly unlikely that the axle boots would be torn like that. I think Just Brakes tore them! They wanted to charge me $550 to replace them. Also, they said I need fix the calipers because the piston is sticking. The cost = $220. Also, Bo-J said I need to replace both front and rear pads and rotors. The cost = $430. The grand total coming to $1200. What a Ripoff! I was furious. I told him to put the car back together and I am taking it somewhere else. He tried to convince me to fix it there because they would charge much less than the dealership. Upon leaving I told him that he'll hear from my attorney.

The bait and switched $99.88 plus plus plus

I went into Just Brakes on 12/23/08 and the price qoute that they had given me was $1207.00 to complete all the so call work that needed to be done on my vechile. I was not truly advised about the hidden prices that this company have. I have a major problem with this company and hidden prices.
1. Nowhere was it posted or told to me before my car was taking apart I was only told that they needed to get in there and see what was going on. In reality this cost $40.00.
2. The brakes that they buy are from Advance Auto Parts for $23.29 but resold for 102.50. THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY.
The $99.88 was suppose to cover brakes all around but after pricing the parts for myself it was cheaper to buy the brakes myself and have someone else to put them on for a friction of the price. After having another mechanic look at mybraking system again. They have found so many problem to the point where I am going to trade my car because the repairs are too much for me.

The $99.88 was only putting money into there pockets and not reapairing what was wrong.

As long as I have breathe in my body I will never use Just Brakes again or ever refer a friend to this company. They broke my care. The all time low point was when the manager told me that if I was to have anyone else to do anything towards my brakes system that my warranty will be voided. I DON'T CARE ABOUT IT BEING VOIDED I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO THAT COMPANY NO MATTER WHERE IT IS LOCATED.

Just Brakes Rip off

I went here because Brake Check is a ripoff! While there, 2 people told me that they will try to *** over. They took my keys and had me sign the contract and had my car up on the rack before they even quoted me a price. All I need were my front brakes done. When I asked them the price, they pulled out a calculator and gave me a total of over $300 AFTER I signed for a $99.98 job. When I asked for my car they told me no because work had already begun and I signed a contract. I told them that the contract was null and void because they quoted me a job for all brakes when I only needed the front 2. The niceness soon flew out the window and we got into a confrontation. The manager told them to just give me my car and let me go. I got my car and left!

I had my 2006 Honda Pilot serviced at an authorized Honda dealership and was told that my brake pads needed replacement and was quoted $325. I opted not to have it replaced by them as I remembered hearing over the radio Just Brakes' advertisement about their $99 brake replacement deal. So I went ahead and had my brake pads replaced at Just Brakes. I was told it will take 4 hours to finish so I had my wife pick me up and went home. After an hour, I got a call from them telling me that some other parts need to be replaced and that it would cost me another $500, and if i did not have it replaced they will not be responsible for any accident that might happen due to the defective part, and there is no telling when will it happen. They even told me that it is possible that right after I drive out of their shop I could be in an accident because of it. I argued that I was just at the Honda service center and they did not tell me of any defects aside from my pads needing replacement. Just brakes told me Honda missed it. This is a clear case of bait and switch. I wouldn't be surprised if majority of those who had the $99 deal from JUST BRAKES ended up paying more than double. May this serve as a warning to those who are planning to have the $99 deal SCAM of JUST BRAKES.

I received a call back and was told that my car needed $1000.00 worth of

Just brakes promises a complete set of brakes for $99. When they get you in the door, they make up all kinds of other needs to get you to pay more. The parts they replaced on my sons car should have lasted the life of his car unless he was in a wreck which he wasn't. I spoke with their regional office and they stood by the fact that he did indeed need these parts. I told them I felt screwed and they did nothing about it. I would never go there again and I don't want anyone else to make the same mistake.

I am so pissed they tried to charge me that much. From reading other reviews I see I'm not the first they try to rip off. I wish the bbb would launch an investigation against them- and fine them for their cheating ripp off ways!. Well nothing I can do except warn you to not do business with them . Save your money.

I heard the squeal indicator on one of my brake pads while breaking and realized my brake pads where getting thin. For those of you who don't know, brake pad manufacturers put a small piece of metal next to their pads, which will cause the brakes to squeal as it touches the brake rotor when the pad has worn to a depth where it needs to be replaced. I know this because I have changed the brakes on my wife's car and my own car at least 4 times, and happen to be a mechanical engineer.

I entered Just Brakes, for their 99.88 replacement of my pads, because I didn't have the time to do it myself before going on a long road trip. I know that you can purchase 4 new sets ofbrake pads for around $60 dollars and $40 dollars in labor sounds very reasonable. Even if they wanted to charge me $100 in labor I would have been willing to pay but NOT EVEN CLOSE. After Just Brakes "inspection", which should be called "pull apart your brake assemblies and point to stuff while spewing out BS about what needs to be fixed", their suggested amount to fix my "problems" was $1, 200!

List of Things they tried to claim need to be fixed:

1. Front rotors below minimum OEM thickness and must be thrown away. $160 apiece. Recommended minimum thickness for Ford OEM rotors 1.12" which includes any where that might occur with a new pad change. Measured thickness at Just Brakes 1.117". That's 3 thousandths of an inch! They REFUSED to put new pads on my vehicle, without changing the rotors because the DOT will not allow them to if the rotors are below the manufacturer's recommended thickness. This is complete horse manure! PLEASE find me a set it stone DOT document that states this. Another reputable dealer put new pads on the next day! By the way a new rotor will cost you no more than $60 at autozone, if you own a full size pickup. Much less if you own a car.

2. My brake fluid has "sediment" in it an needs to be fushed. $147. And by the way this needs to be done once a year or your brake system might fail. WHAT?!? I can buy newbrake fluid for $7 and siphone out the old fluid with a turkey baster. By the way, if your brake fluid contains WATER, and you are doing heavy braking, like towing a trailer down a mountain, the water might boil when coming in contact with a hot brake cylinder and cause brake issues. Never in my life have I heard of "sediment" causing a problem and by the way, how do you suggest "sediment" got in my closed hydrolic loop?!? More horse manure.

3. My caliper assembly is sticking and needs to be replaced on the two back wheels. $247 a piece. After his BS about minimum rotor thickness and sediment I stopped listening to his explanation.

4. Brake fluid has seeped out of my back rear braking assembly and "contaminated" my parking brake assembly. $300 to replace assembly.

5. etc, etc, etc,

TOTAL: $1200.

When asked which of these "services" I wanted to have performed. I simply stated "I want you to replace my pads" after which they answered. "The DOT will not allow us to replace your pads if yourotors are below the minimum thickness, Your minimum bill is $462. At which time I said, fine, I'll do it myself, Please put my brakes back together. Then I left.

The next day, I went to a 5 Star rated, honest mechanic and had my brakes inspected. He said you need new pads on all four tires, but the rest of your brake system is fine. I had him replace them all and I gladly paid him $325.

DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO JUST BRAKES RIP OFF TACTICS! GO ANYWHERE ELSE! $99.88 is just a tactic to get you in the door so they can try and confuse and scare you into parting with your money. BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE!

I was the victim of a classic bait and switch at Just Brakes.

I went in to have a four wheel brake job for 99.88. I was sold two other services so as to do the job completely and properly and avoid future problems. Price $266 and change.

Instead I got a two Wheel brake job for $255 and change. They knew when they took the job they did not have and would not get the parts for the rear brakes.and yet they proceeded without my authority. And all the more the job was not done completely and properly to avoid future problems.

Little over a year ago I took our van to Just Brakes as it was in a need of having the pads and shoes replaced. Of course the calipers needed to be replaced as well. Not knowing any better I ended up paying almost $400.

Yesterday my wife took the van to Just Brakes as she wanted to make sure the brakes were fine before our trip up to the mountains. She was all happy having had the brakes fixed before our trip, this time to the tune of $600. When I finally found the paper work for last year we found out that of course the calipers needed to be replaced yet again.

When she showed up with the van, the work that was done by that very same shop did not show up on their computer. To make things worse she provided them will all kinds of information about the brakes and their behavior, which gives Just Brakes the green-light run up your bill even more.

The bottom line is that we feel we were taken to the cleaners. The calipers having to be replaced in August of 2009 and then again in Dec of 2010. Yeah, right!

I went to confront the manager about the issue of the calipers, and he seemed to at first taken aback with the fact that the same repair had been made a little over a year earlier. He recovered very quickly and very adament about the repairs were needed.

The bottom line is: Don't make the same mistake as us and take your car to Just Brakes. There is not such thing as a $99 brake job as the replacement of the calipers are not included in that price.

Just Brakes What a rip off

I visited a just brakes in Lubbock a few days ago just because my front pads were making a squeaking sound. Mind you that my car only has 30.000 miles on it. Isaac the store manager called me out after about 2 hours of waiting and shows me my thick pads. He insisted that I needed calipers rebuilt front and rear of my car. This is after Kirby told me that there shouldn’t be anything else wrong with my car after he just walked around my car and finger felt my rotors. Then Isaac calls me out and tells me that I need two new rotors and the calipers, hardware and possibly a master cylinder. B.S. Isaac tried to make me feel I had to do the work or my brakes could fail at any time. I knew he was using scare tactics at this point. I took my car to the dealership and another shop down the street and they both said that the noise should work itself out. After a few days the noise went away and has not come back. The other shops also informed me that they have had the same complaints about Just Brakes. I will tell everybody I know not to take there vehicles to Just Brakes.

Just Brakes Bad business

Bad Bad Bad experience. My husband took my 2007 infiniti i-35 ...He was made to wait 5 hours... 2 1/2 just for the diagnosis. Quoted on the phone 120.oo then once they had our car opened up it became a 380.00 estimate. When my husband told them he would just take it to the dealership for 250.oo they made him wait another 2 1/2 hours switching him btw three different mechanics ...all of whom tried to convince him it was *too* dangerous to drive away...telling him he would have to sign a waiver and they could not guarantee the condition of the car once they put it back together. They refused to give him his old parts once they had completed the work...it gets worse. When I called corporate I find out they do not use waivers and it was all scare tactics to get my husband to pay for the service. Bad business kids...very bad.

well if you look at the box of brake pads at the auto store (friction masters) it tells you the exact same conditions the tech told you and in OEM specs state that all hardware be changed everytime you change your brakes. also your own owners manuels tell you to change your brake fluid every 20, 000 miles or every year for the average person. there good and bad techs everywhere you cant just assume that all are out to get you!

Just Brakes is a bunch of bottomfeeding, leeching ###! I had a similar experience with the Just Brakes in Sarasota, FL. They tried charging me over $700 for a pads, rotors, calipers, discs, etc. (basically every part that can be replaced.) When I told them I was taking my car to my mechanic for a second opinon they quickly developed attitudes, argued with me, and attempted to intimidate me into letting them go ahead with the work they falsely claimed my car needed. My boyfriend ended up getting in a verbal confrontation with both the manager/receptionist(?) and the shop foreman (who by the way, was obese, and sat at a desk with his feet up eating the entire time taunting my boyfriend.) Eventually, after having to call the cops, I was finally returned my vehicle. When I took it to my mechanic he ended up charging me $220 for new pads and rotors. The rest of problems Just Brakes claimed I had did not exist. This was apparently of no surprise to my mechanic who has seen most of Just Brakes customers with estimates and bills ranging from $700-$1500. Even corporate sucks. When you call to complain they just argue with you further, suggest you're threatening them, and defend the unprofessionalism of the employees. I have vowed to tell every single person I meet about my experience. Infact since this experience, 2 days ago, I have spent all my time contacting media outlets and filling out countless complaint forms on every consumer protection site and any site associated with them. Just Brakes will be sorry they ever tried to rip me off and/or treated me with such disrespect. And yes, Bob Marshall, with "customer care" THAT IS A THREAT. I probably won't be satisfied until I see this company go down.

Just Brakes Complete Brake Job

On 08/07/2007, I had a complete brake job done at Just Brakes, 4845 S. Pecos Rd at a cost of $520.64 (invoice # [protected]) which I was informed included a life time warranty. On 05/01/2008, I had to return the car to have two wheel cylinders (leaking) and a brake hose replaced (installed wrong) after only 13, 000 miles. I was informed that I had to pay labor charges, which after discussions, ended up being $40.76 (invoice # [protected]). I am still upset at having to pay any labor charges because had the work been done properly the first time, I would not have had to return this quickly for repairs. I will also submit a copy of this to the better business bureau if I am not satified with a reponse from you.

Just Brakes Inflated repair prices

Just Brakes. It should be "Just ***." How in the *** I go from an 889.00 quote to 411.00. The tech talked like he was reading from a well rehearsed script. The manager didn’t even give me a chance to talk. I’m a disabled vet who just came back from Iraq and I was explaining to the manager that I’m on a fixed income and he just blew me off and kept talking. Now I was around a bunch of crooks in the Middle East for over a year which is ok, but to come home and have to deal with your own countrymen being crooks is outrageous! Then after I declined to have the work done, they huddled around and looked at me as if I was a joke and received a lecture about an organization that you all belong to and that you can refuse service. Well the joke is on you. I will be calling Dateline NBC and 60 minutes. Better yet, I will forward this to Michael Moore, a BIG supporter of troops, especially disabled ones, and let him know how you take advantage of people. I will never step foot in a just brakes facility. I use to get my brakes serviced by this company but never again.

I totally agree with you they are JUST FAKES! They lie to everyone about the vehicle needed a total brake overhaul which is not necessary most of the time. They told my about $900 on a new car even. Master cylinder is bad, drums are bad, rotors are bad, hoses are bad, pads are bad, shoes are bad, wheel cylinders are bad, calipers are bad. All I needed was my front rotors turned LOL. Brake Check is a lot cheaper and does a much better job when needed. I do my brakes myself but when here to have the rotors turned on my car and they told me everything was bad on my cars brake system. They really know how to lie to everyone that comes through their door at Just Brakes.
