Fraudulent billing practices
Yesterday I saw an attorney position posted on another website and when I went to apply for this job was redirected to Law Crossing. In order to submit my resume I had to register using my credit card for one of their packages so I registered for the monthly one at $19.99 per month following the 72 hour "risk free trial" period. Needless to say within an hour the company deducted $449.00 from my account which is now seriously overdrawn! When I called the telephone number listed by the amount, a girl named "Bridget" said she would cancel my membership and have the money immediately refunded. The bank is also willing to remove the overdraft fees once Law Crossing does the refund. Now 24 hours later the amounts still remain and another girl named "Christina" is telling me that it will take 5-7 days to make the refund. When I explained that this was unacceptable since their "mistake" is holding up my accessing the rest of my money, she arrogantly tells me "well you should have thought about that before signing up for the concierge service." Bottom line is I NEVER signed up for this service. In addition when I viewed other attorney jobs on their site they all conveniently happened to be posted yesterday "July 16th" which is a scam and when I compared those postings to the same postings on other sites they were in fact currently inactive. STAY AWAY FROM THESE FRAUDS!

Misleading Marketing and Deceptive Practices
I signed up for Lawcrossing about a year ago when I had a job at a law firm that seemed secure even as many of my friends were laid off in other firms. I signed up because Lawcrossing seemed like a good resource to have as part of a backup plan in case something happened to my firm. I only glanced at the openings when I signed up but didn’t follow up on any of the job advertisements at the time. I have to admit that I was very impressed by the statements on the web site that said it is the largest collection of legal jobs in the world and the number of jobs that it lists on its front page were impressive.
In May of this year the layoffs caught up with me and I lost my job along with some of my friends. My firm even fired some partners. So I turned to my options and started to use Lawcrossing in earnest. After using it for a few months a found that it was a waste of my time and money. I finally learned that most of the job openings are red herrings and the numbers on the front page must be inflated. I don’t know for sure but it looks like Lawcrossing blindly lists anything from any company that has a legal department and concludes that there must be an opening available even if there really isn’t.
This finally clicked after one specific incident. I found a job on Lawcrossing and tried to apply using the instructions listed on Lawcrossing but I never received a response. I looked at the company’s web-site and it listed information about its large legal department and the company stated something about always being interested in improving its department with new talent. I contacted the human resource manager directly and she said that the legal department has had a hiring freeze for about a year. I asked her why the company’s web site said that it was hiring and she explained that its site never said anything like that but acknowledged that the statement that the department is always looking to improve with new talent is a statement used to demonstrate that the department always tries to attract the best talent but it NEVER lists job openings on their site even when they are hiring. I explained that Lawcrossing listed their job openings and she said “Really?!?!? I don’t understand how.” I sent her a copy of the job listing from Lawcrossing and spoke with her later. She said that the Lawcrossing listing was absolutely incorrect and it looked to her like they distorted the company’s language to create the impression that the legal department was hiring We chatted some more agreed that Lawcrossing probably tries to inflate its job listings by carelessly listing almost any company with a large legal department as having job openings instead of listing actual job openings. She said that she would contact Lawcrossing to ask that they no longer list job openings at their company but Lawcrossing still lists the jobs after a few months have passed.
After I realized that Lawcrossing’s database was not credible and that it would take me way too much effort to try to figure out what was a REAL job as a opposed to a phantom job used to inflate their job numbers I called the number that is buried in the Terms of Use to cancel but it was a weekend and nobody was available. That’s when I checked my credit card statement to see if there was a different number and realized that they are now charging $50/month (it was somewhere in the 30s when I signed up). I couldn’t believe that they were charging me $50 per month for this total garbage. Instead of waiting for Monday I just called my credit card company to dispute the charges and also requested as much money refunded as possible because I subscribed based upon misleading statements. I’m still waiting to hear back.
Because I realize that I may not get my money back because I wasn’t closely monitoring their services or credit card statement every month I did some extra research during my excessive downtime to learn more about the company and learned a couple of things. The company is NOT in good standing in either Nevada where it is incorporated or California where it does business. I’m not sure why this is or how long it has been in bad standing, but it is. Then I found out about that the company needs a license to operate this business and it did not have one. That means that I have a right to void my entire agreement and have all of my money refunded. In fact, who signed up when they didn’t have a license or while they were not in good standing in CA can get a refund of all of their money. People should stay away from Lawcrossing.
During these tough times every penny counts. I may just bring a lawsuit myself but am interested in turning it into a class action. I’m interested if there is anyone else interested in joining a class action lawsuit, potentially as the named plaintiff.

Law Crossing is indeed a criminal enterprise. I have been employed for the last two years and have had no need for their service. However out of the blue is was billed by them for $236 for some random subscription service I did not authorize. When i contacted them to inform them of this unauthorized charge, they sent me some cryptic email indicating they will “cancel my subscription but I will have access to the account for another year and then it will be discontinued.” For one, the charge was unauthorized and was billing for services i never wanted or needed. This is tantamount to theft. Their institution needs to be investigated and shut down!
I signed up for one month of service online. When I checked my bank statement online the next day, they charged me $220 for SIX MONTHS worth of service! When I called to explain there was a mistake, the person on the other end was EXTREMELY RUDE and they refused to refund my money. They sent me an email saying that they cancelled my subscription, but that I can still access the site for six months with "no charge" to me --- I was already Charged! This company is full of decieving practices. I will dispute the charge as soon as it clears with my bank, and I have contacted BBB and the Attorney General's Office.
Just got off the phone with Dean Jonas and Cyrus Richard at LawCrossing. Although I cancelled my subscription a month ago, I still got billed for another month because I did not call prior to the next billing date (I actually called the same day as the next billing date). So, if you land a new job or no longer want the subscription after the start of the billing date, you still have to pay for the entire month. Unbelievable!
Also, their database stinks! Keep far away from this company. You will do much better on the free web-sites.

As a law firm employer, I can tell you that Lawcrossings is a fake. I get many, many phone calls and e-mails from applicants regarding a job they say I have posted on Lawcrosings. However, I have never posted a job there and that particular job does not exist. We have very specific requirements for all positions in our firm, and I am careful to list them whenver I post a job. The job posting at Lawcrossings does not contain any of these requirements. I have tried contacting Lawcrossings to find out where they got the information and to ask them to cease publishing this job, however, I have never received any kind fo a response from either e-mails or phone messages.
I have a similar situation with Lawcrossings right now. I did not get a single response for a single resume I sent out (and had more luck with craigslist and daily journal). I finally decided to stop wasting my money on them and am unable to reach anyone at the number they provided. I have left numerous messages to return my call so I can cancel- and nothing! I would be interested in pursuing a class action as well.

Sent an invoice with the wrong amount
Legal Authority is a company that provides targeted mass mail to potential employers in the legal field. I used their service, and I was thoroughly disappointed. Cover letters and resume contain several errors. They take forever to revise my cover letters. So you need to hassle them to correct even one sentence. That's not my main concern. I got a bill from them after 6 months of silence saying that I owe them over $1400. I purchased their service for $1200 and paid half according to their financing plan. I never owed more than $1400. I called the customer service, and she opened my record and said that I owe more than $1400 and other erroneous things. She was not apologetic at all for the mistake. She was indignant. So now I'm digging up all the records from January to send them a letter of complaint to them. It just makes me angry that they thought they can trick me into paying more than $1400.
I heard this is useless as well, because they just ignore you and if you call them they will repeat the same answer over and over again. So I'm planning to call them demand all the evidence/documents that they have to charge me with more than $1400.
This was my worst consumer -experience. Basically, you're going to pay for all your time and headache by incompetent people who edit your cover letters and resumes and moreover, by fraudulent billing system.
Scam billing
Lawcrossing.com received an F from the Better Business Bureau for fraudulent business practices. You are only capable of canceling via phone; however, even if you do cancel, they will continue to charge you, reportedly until you have the bank change your account information. They have blatantly continued to scam customers for years, and pay individuals to populate websites with bogus positive reviews in order to generate business. Do some research and think long and hard before you give them yours. For the record, the jobs listed are old with advertisements that do not match the requirements of the position but seem more appealing to applicants.

It’s a fraud website. Allow unverified, vilifying, defamatory, foul and tasteless reviews posted on its website against organisations of repute. It allows itself to be used as a platform to bully honourable organizations/companies. Law Crossing as a website should be pulled down.
Wow, LawCrossing is still scamming job searchers. Do not waste your money on this useless website. You can find better job listings through craigslist, your local bar association website, indeed.com and other free sites. I found LawCrossing.com to be useless with out-of-date postings and useless information. The only thing I got from LawCrossing was a bunch of SPAM.
Finally, if you sign up for a free or $1 etc. trial period then cancel within the required period, make sure to get a confirmation number, save it, and check your credit card to see if they are billing you despite the cancellation. I signed up for a trial period deal then cancelled within the required time frame by phone (the only option I saw at the time). The phone rep gave me a number but did not also email it to me. Unfortunately, I lost the confirmation number...
About six months later, I realized that LawCrossing had been charging my credit card every month even though I had cancelled! When I contacted customer service, they were extremely rude and refused to refund me my money without a confirmation number. I offered to compromise (refund for half the months) and asked them to be reasonable as they could check their records to see that I had not logged in during all those months. They would not budge.

The complaints are true. The job listings are available free in other places, and you can't cancel except by calling, which is difficult to do. I thought I had signed up for 3 months, but was auto billed for another 3 months. As soon as I saw the bill on my credit card I sent an e-mail. I finally got a response with a number I could call. I called, told them I hadn't used the service in more than a month and didn't want continuing service. They agreed to cancel, but refused to refund what they had already charged me for going forward. I'll watch closely to see if I continue to get billed, but these people are unethical. Use a different service.

LawCrossing has made a lot of changes to it's website. It seems more user friendly now and the jobs that are posted are better than they were in the past. They have also included a live chat feature that enables you to talk to a live representative. They have been very helpful with helping me find jobs that fit the criteria I am looking for. Their customer service was really good. They cleared up a bunch of questions I had about the website and options I had available to me.
I decided to take advantage of the 3-day trial. I signed up, but did not receive any sort of email confirmation. I found that LawCrossing had hundreds upon hundreds of redundant listings. For example, if AT&T had at some point posted a job listing, LawCrossing would show that listing dozens of times, each time with a different town or city in my metro area (i.e., a single job posting that probably originated from Indeed at some point may count as 50 unique job listings with LawCrossing). I went through hundreds of LawCrossing listings and did not find anything that looked remotely fresh. Accordingly, I tried to cancel one day after signing up. The website states: "If at any time during your membership with us you are not satisfied for any reason whatsoever please contact our customer service department" ("Guarantee Page").So I clicked on the "Contact Us" page. On that page, the only options were to send a comment through a form or to use the "contact [at] lawcrossing.com" email address. So I sent a email requesting cancellation. I never received a response so a few days later I sent a second email requesting confirmation. No response. Nothing showed up on my credit card statement so I thought nothing more of it. Then a few months later, monthly charges of $30 or $40 started appearing on my statement. I disputed the charges and LawCrossing responded by claiming that, although they had obviously received my written cancellation notice, I had not called the telephone number that in my opinion they work so hard to conceal. In my opinion, they are obviously quite practiced in this response. My bank ate one of the charges and disputed the others, but in my opinion this indulgent approach by my bank is exactly what allows rackets to perpetuate.
I fell victim to these punks also. I was fortunate to have paid through paypal. I cancelled the subscription and disputed a duplicate charge. I am hoping paypal resolves this to my satisfaction. The customer service line was a condescending jerk, and would not let me speak to his supervisor. Not only that, the jobs it showed were nothing special. I can find these jobs on a free site just as easily.
Do not waste your time with these jokers.

Hopefully, if the BBB isn't getting you anywhere, this will. I don't understand why their web site hasn't been shut down if they are defrauding so many people. That is the very least they can do until you can get your money from them in court.
sorry for the typos - I was offered 60 days of a trial period. Another huge red flag about this is I never had trouble registering. I just NEVER registered. lol I just visited their site and used my old info and that's when i found out things had drastically changed. You'll see the services they now offer and the prices.

Years ago LawCrossing.com was offering a trial period free of charge before they asked for your credit card info and I tried it back then and found most of the jobs were the same ones on other sites and knew then that I could get the same info for free using Indeed.com and a few other sites. I believe this is when the company was doing okay, but now it appears there have been drastic changes where even the trial period requires your credit card info and the cost of the services went from $25-$40 to $100+ it's incredible! Right there, that told me something was not right and a red flag went up. When I didn't use the trial period this time, but they still remember me from my old email account when i tried the free trial offers years ago, they emails me offering me over $3, 000 worth of "gifts" which were just resume critiques (probably computer generated) and the like and 60 trial for only $7.77. That made no sense either. Why that amount? Especially after asking for so much in the first place? I could tell it was a scam and all they wanted from me was my credit card number and then i would be screwed with not getting my money back when I read about how they would also "credit" me some $99.95 for the Resume critique, etc services. I thought to myself..."CREDIT?" So, it sounds like they would not actually charge me $7.77, but the $99.95 but "credit me" the remaining or whatever. I don't have the exact dollar figures right but you know where I'm going with this. After I saw that I looked for LawCrossing reviews and scams on Google and found this board and I was right.
I tried to sign up for one month. The next day I checked my bank statement online - they charged me $220! I called to tell the that this was a mistake and that I did not authorize the charge. The man was very rude and stated that they would not refund my money. I am so sorry that I ever entered my information on their site... I have filed a complaint wiht the BBB and attorney general... How can this company continue to operate when clearly there have been several complaints made against them? =(
