One day the refrigerator stopped cooling.i presumed there could be some problem in the compressor.then i registered my compliant with dealer.the service engineer turned up and recommended that the regulating unit needs t be changed and other day he changed it and charged 500 bucks (including service charges).
Now i am very much surprised that a company like LG that claims to be the electronics giant has got serious manufacturing defect that its product that has just crossed 1 year old has started giving troubles and that too exactly after the completion of warranty.
My request is to tell the firm that people invest their hard earned money and go for the brands to invest,so this trust shouldn't be nullified.
The fan motor in the freezer compartment has started making a noise as if a bearing is going out and the back of the freezer is frosting over as is the side rail beside the ice maker.
The unit is a little over a year old. The frig we used prior to the LG lasted 38 years and never had a service call for the frig or the ice maker!
I am experiencing similar problems with my LG Refrigerator. I did not but it, but it came with the house we bought in Nov 07. It can't be more than 2 years old, if that, and now the Fridge part is not functioning. First the ice maker quit about a month ago, then a fan motor noise for the last 2 weeks, and not its dead. The freezer still works, but not the fridge. I'm sure I'm facing some kind of rediculous charge to fix it... prob better off dumping and getting a different unit all together from a solid brand name.
They don't make things like they used to...
Our fridge is almost 2 years old, and we've had at least 4 service calls already. When we woke up this morning we had the ER FF error for the second time, and the fridge wasn't working.
Frost in the freezer is constant problem as well as fan noise. We're lucky we got extended warranty! At this point, we'll keep getting it fixed as long as it's covered. And definitely will not buy another LG!
Same problem. Frost in freezer, knocking noise.
Bought LG French doors refrig with freezer on bottom less than 2 years ago. Besides water ruining my wood floors, ice maker stopped working 1 month after purchase and now the seals on the doors are loose so the refrig is VERY difficult to close. You can imagine my headache with small children who open and close the refrig all the time. Cost of energy just too high to have such an inefficient design!
LG french door refridgerator - purchased August 2007
since then we hav had the icemaker breakdown twice annd jam twice -four visits
The main cooling fridge broke donw 6 monthas after purxchase -everytihing froze in the fridge and it took them two weeks to freight the part in .
now one year after purchaes abd this repair everything is freezing again ithe fridge -we await the service man -he now lnows our house very well
This is impossible situation to have no fridge in summer.
Our old 36cuft GE never malfunctioned and 22 years later is still gooing strong..
I purchased an LG refrigerator in January 2006. In July of 2008 the freezer stopped working. A call to LG produced a list of local appliance repairmen. We call one and he diagnosed the problem to be a leak in the sealed system components of the fridge. All sealed system components are covered under a 7 year warranty. The cost to determine which of the components needs to be replaced could be $500 to $800 dollars depending on the time involved. Then we would need to pay for the labor to replace, of fix, the defective component. The problem is that the leak is small and has probably been there since purchase. It took this long for enough of the refrigerant gas to leak out so that the freezer stopped working. The unit cost $1100 new and we could be looking at 2/3 of that to fix it 2 years later. Calls to LG customer service produced nothing but the company line of " We do not pay for labor after 1 year". It is not reasonable to have such a large cost to replace components that are covered under warranty. I do not blame the repair technician as I believe that he was being truthful by saying that the diagnosis could be 5 - 8 hours as the leak could be anywhere in the system even perhaps in the tubing that is contained in the walls of the unit and not even accessable. Do not purchase LG products as they do not stand behind them in a reasonable manner.
I have paid for lg gl 258ve5 and they have delivered 258ve4. I want my money back
