On December 1, 09, I spoke with a man named Alexander his extension is 75606. I was inquiring about mail ordering diabetes supplies for my daughter. After giving him my insurance information, I told him we have met our deductible so I'm pretty sure this might be covered. He TOLD me that he will check with my insurance company and call me back if there is a co pay. If you do not hear from me there is not a co pay. I waited for the call he never called me back. I received her medical supplies in the mail a few days later. The order date on the invoice is Dec. 3, 09 I thought, good everything is covered. A month later I received a Pending Insurance Claim Statement for 810.00! I spoke with customer service, he told me he saw the conversation on the computer I had with Alexander, he sent me to the billing dept. She did not see the conversation I had on her computer, and pretty much told me it's my fault! That I should have known that this was out of network. I never knew that! She didn't want to hear that Alexander was to call me back and tell me this, her replied was, we do this as a courtesy. We went back and fourth. She didn't want to hear anything. I just received another Pending Insurance Claim Statement on 2/9/10, there is no indication that my insurance company was notified. I also never received an Explanation of Benefits from Aetna. I thought I would at this time. Please help me get through to Liberty, I would never have agreed to 30%-70% let alone paying the whole amount of $810.00. I would have gone back to CVS and pay 25.00.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I'm buying my diabetic testing supplies from my local pharmacy right now. I have called Liberty three times, and emailed them once asking for a bill for my $135.00 Medicare Part B deductible from 2009. This deductible was met in the EARLY part of 2009. Now, I am facing another deductible for 2010 and I am not going to try to deal with Liberty Medical until they get my account straightened out. I wonder how there pricing compares to other testing supply companies. Anyone know?
Our first time testing supply order was forwarded to Liberty which is owned by our insurer Medco. They sent too large a supply for someone with boarder -line diabetes. We got a log form to submit to Medicare and a phone call from Liberty. We were told the doctor ordered supplies to test 4x a day This was a lie. Dr. ordered 2x a day only. Medicare requires documentation for reimbursement for high use testers. Later received a call requesting our approval for a reorder. I questioned the validity of the 4x a day testing. She back tracked and said, " Oh, the Dr. only requested 2x testing." I could forget the form. I don't believe this was a mistake. I would assume they are trying this scam on lots of people. They are out to rip off Medicare( that is the American people). Liberty Medical has a poor reputation with the Diabetes support I attend.
Advertising heavily on television, I am a victim of O'Bama Care, and wanted to set up an account with Liberty on some reoccurring medical supplies. I called on Sunday the last of July 2010 and as of 8/4/2010 they still haven't returned my call so I've signed up with another company who really hustled to be sure I was happy with their service. "Liberty" has a great name, not so much with their service.
I order my diabetic supplies on Dec 22 of 2009 and since I had met my required amount it would be covered minus co-pay. LM purposely held off posting the order until Jan 6 of 2010 and expects me to pay the full price. When we finally were able to get someone on the phone, the little abusive snot blamed my doctors office for not returning the request/prescription until Jan 3 2010 and blames me for waiting until the end of the year. They were abusive and upset my wife greatly.
I received a bill from Liberty Medical and I spent most of the day looking up my statements etc. When I found that my checks had been cashed, I called Liberty Medical. Apparently what they do is when you pay a bill they credit it to your past account. I have always paid my bills on time but as they wanted my copy of the checks (back and front) which I don't get. Some of these charges are from 2009. Ridiculous!.Needless to say I told them to cancel my account...I will pay them what they say I owe BUT I know I don't owe them anything ..If everyone did business this way, how could you keep track of what is owed? I'd like to see their tax records...
I will go to the local pharmacy from now on...
Someone should look into their billing depart. I paid the dang bill but I know I didnt owe it, they are ripping people off I am sure. They did the same thing to me as to nanny 81, saying I owed money, they need to be investigated and hopefully someone will soon.
My husband is a diabetic and has gotten his supplies from Liberty Medical for the past 3 years. We were told that most of his supplies would be covered by Medicare but if we owed anything, we would receive a statement. The first year, we did receive a bill, which we paid instantly online. After that, we never received any statements or bills from them. We received medicare statements showing they had been paying Liberty. He's had other health issues so his Medicare deductible was always paid towards other bills.. We thought nothing odd from not receiving a bill from Liberty, assuming the supplies were covered by Medicare, and never gave it a 2nd thought. He's a type 2 and only gets his testing strips from Liberty, nothing else.
A few months ago, we received a past due notice that he owed something like $386, threatening to send this to a collection agency. He called them and asked how that could be since we've never received a statement. The young man he talked to insisted that everything concerning our address was correct on our account and we were being sent statements every month. My husband very politely told him his computer may say so, but he's telling him we have never received any statements. If we had, we would have paid our bill. The young man insisted that we HAD received statements. My husband asked him if he was calling him a liar! The young man talked circles around my husband, who ended up just scratching his head. He was told they would send us an itemized billing.. We never received it. Despite questioning if we even owed them any money, we started making payments to them, but after a few months of still not receiving any statements or itemized billing showing why he owes this money, we stopped sending in payments.. We will be calling them again and insisting they send us an itemized statement proving he does owe them money.
In the meantime, he's decided to buy his strips from the pharmacy. Less hassle, and he knows exactly what they cost, no surprise bills 3 years down the road!
This company should be investigated..Their book keeping practices are not real..!
I am on the front end of dealing with Liberty over the exact same issue as 81nanny. My mother is the customer and is meticulous about paying her bills. Several days ago, she gets a bill from Liberty with charging dating back to January 2009. Liberty says the outstanding bill for [protected] is $200.00. Yet this is the first bill she has received. Part of the secret to this mystery is this company is owned by Medco Health which has to be one of the worst companies in the known world to deal with.

What I don't get is why you folks on Medicare are paying *anything* for your supplies?!? Medicare Advantage plans are available in almost any area of the country for a $0 monthly premium, you do NOT lose your Medicare & you get your supplies for FREE!
Why on Earth would you pay Medicare deductibles & coinsurance when, FOR NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU, you could have a Medicare Advantage plan? Your age does not matter as long as you have both Part A & Part B.
Do yourself or your loved one a favor. Call Medicare and ask them if there are advantage plans in your area. Stop spending money you don't have to spend! [protected].
Same as issue as 81nanny. However, I kept a record of the person I spoke to (Letitia) who gave me a number to call and a confirmation number to indicate the bill had been paid - this in August, 2011. Today I get a bill, Nov. 2012, and am told they have no one by the name of "Letitia", no record of my phone call, and no such confirmation numbers. I was also told the number was most likely Medicare. I goggled the number and sure enough it is a disconnected number associated with Liberty Medical. I am reporting them to the Attorney General and good luck if they think I'm paying them - AGAIN!. I think this is a company that realizes most of its customers are seniors and are taking advantage.
Four times I have ordered my supplies from you. I have been told they would be sent. I am a long time customer of yours and I don't understand the delay. I NEED MY SUPPLIES as I am running low. PLEASE check into this immediately.

My husband has ordered testing supplies from Liberty Medical since year 2010. We have Medicare as primary ins., & Aetna for secondary. We never received nor been required to pay out of pocket, a bill from Liberty until Dec. 2012, for $55 which we paid immediately. We also have not received any supplies since the $55 was paid.We received a bill for $148 this week. I called for an explanation & were told auditors came in middle of January & went back two years & looked up unpaid balances from past two yrs & we owe it. I asked why it took two yrs to bill for uncollected balances. Actually because we have a secondary ins co. We did not owe them anything. I asked the lady to waive the balances, whoever heard of billing two yrs later for bills accrued so long ago which our secondary insurance co. Had already paid. I was told balances could not be waived, however, payment plans are offered. It galls me that they are ripping us off this way. Also, they call our house many times a day & late at night. I requested that all phone calls cease, we had enough sense to order supplies when we need them. Something is wrong with the CEO of the company that would allow this 2 year billing scheme to take place. How many customers are they going to loose over this rip off. I know we have quit them. I guess $148 is more important to them than an ongoing acct. does anyone know how far back a company can go back & change the prices to collect unwarranted fees?
Liberty Medical Company is a bunch of scamming defrauding piece of ### [censored]! BEWARE of them and do not get hooked up with them or you will end up being billed for hundreds of dollars that you do not owe, and they WILL NOT RESPOND or work out complaints!
I have had many complaints including their not posting my payments. Though I sent them evidence with my credit card payment bills by registered mail they never responded. But they kept sending me more bills. Talking to a rep I was told I owed about 5 $ and if I sent that amount no further payments were needed. I sent it. They cashed it. But bills kept coming. The irony is Medco referred me to them automatically and they do not seem to do anything about the complaints. In fact they did not inform me the customer that Liberty was under investigation or bankruptcy. Great way of doing business - millking sick customers! - simonized
my friend has a colostamy. Her condition is so severe that she uses 3 or 4 bags a day. Liberty will not send her medical records to Medicare to get a waver for the large # of supplies she needs. Medicare will not take the records from her or her Dr. She is house bound as a result of the horrible people at Liberty Medical Supplies.
I wish I knew a lawyer who would take her case/
I have been receiving supplies from liberty for several years. My wife's insurance is primary and I only have medicare part A. I have never received any statement that said I owed anything until3 days ago. I answered their irritating 2 to 3 times a day computer calls and selected that I wanted to speak with someone about my insurance and bill. I got a recording that someone would call me within the next few days. They say I owe 221.58 dollars. No explanation and covers from April to August this year. Remember, I have never been billed before! I wonder if they will call me back? All of the complaints astound me! They must be controlled by the incompetent government!
It has been a nightmare trying to get insulin from this company. I have been trying to have them ship insulin to me, since the 1st. It is now the12th. Yesterday, they said they received my prescription and would ship out the insulin. I called today to see where it was and those snotty women (I talked to more than 1), told me although they received the form from my doctor, they cancelled my order. They proceeded to tell me they couldn't say why. HORRIBLE COMPANY as well as terrible customer service.
I get continuous glucose monitoring supplies by mail from Liberty. I am now getting phone calls from them about once a day - they are offering to send me all of the supplies for which I am eligible - but when I go through the "choose which supplies you want" they are only listing supplies I have never ordered from them (lancets, insulin, test strips, etc.). When I go through the whole thing and say no to each option the call ends. Then next day they call again. Sure seems like a scam.
I have been receiving my insulin pump supplies from Liberty since 2009 NEVER have I had a problem until November 2013. My doctor's orders had expired and had to be renewed. I called my doctor's office on November 26 and asked them to FAX new orders. Two weeks later still had not received supplies. Called Liberty again. They told me they had faxed the doctor's office 3 times and had received no response. Again I called the doctor's office and was told the orders had been FAXED TWICE. Liberty and I went round and round and I still have not received supplies. Finally called the doctor's office again and they told me they would call Liberty. In the meantime we (Doctor & I) received FOUR different FAX numbers. My doctor's office called me on Friday, Jan 10 and told me they had spoken with Liberty and verified they had received the Faxed orders. Today, Jan 14, I called Liberty to verify the supplies were on the way. Liberty told me they have the order but they don't have a primary insurance for me. I have Medicare with a supplemental and nothing has changed in four years. Was told I would have send them the insurance information again. Normally, I am a very calm person but today I lost it...told Liberty they have all my information and have had it for 4 years and they better ship my supplies NOW.
I cannot understand what is happening with Liberty. All I know if I get these supplies, it will be the LAST ONES I GET FROM LIBERTY.
I put an order in through them in December. They sent 2 of the 3 things wrong. I called back, clarified the order, returned the 2 wrong supplies, was on hold for 1 3/4 hours. NO EXAGERATION... This company is a joke! There is only a note of "received wrong supplies" nothing more. If these supplies were for myself it wouldn't be so irritating, but they are for my 6 yr. old son. I have NEVER complained publically before, much less on the internet, but this is the worst company I have EVER dealt with in my life. I PLEAD with anyone reading this...RUN! I am in shock that this business is still in business, and wish I had checked this site out before I placed my order. NEVER AGAIN! Straight to the local pharmacy where I had NEVER had a problem...
I WORKED AS A CSR FOR THIS COMPANY IN FL. HERE IS WHERE THEY SCREW THE MEDICARE PATIENTS;
1) THEY FILE PART B MEDICARE FOR THE SUPPLIES BECAUSE THESE ARE CONSIDERED DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND THEY ARE CORRECT IN FILLING IT TO MEDICARE PART B.
2) THEY TELL THE PATIENT THEY WILL FILE SUPPLEMENT INS TO MEDICARE PART B. WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU, IS SUPPLEMENT INS WILL NOT, I REPEAT, WILL NOT PAY THE 20% OUT OF POCKET.
THE PROBLEM IS SUPPLEMENT INS DOES NOT PAY THE 20% CO-INSURANCE DUE AFTER MEDICARE PART B PAYS; THE EXPLANATIONS FROM PATIENTS SECONDARY INS IS THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR DURABLE MEDICAL EQUPMENT AND TO FILE THE PATIENTS PART D DRUG (PRESCRIPTION CARD) YOU CAN NOT, I REPEAT, CAN NOT FILE PART OF A CLAIM TO PART B AND THE 20% COINSURANCE TO PART D.
IF YOU HAVE MEDICARE, GO TO YOUR LOCAL BIG BOX DRUG STORE AND BUY YOUR PRODUCTS USING YOUR PRESCRIPTION DRUG CARD.
I KNEW THIS INFORMATION WHEN I WORKED FOR THIS DISHONEST BUNCH, BUT WAS NEVER ALLOWED TO TELL THE PATIENTS THE TRUTH ABOUT HOW MEDICARE PAYS ON CLAIMS ALONG WITH A SUPPLEMENT INSURANCE.
RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
MEDCO IS ANOTHER AREA OF THE COMPANY WHERE THEY DON'T WANT TO GIVE FULL DISCLOSURE ON CLAIMS FILING. TALK ABOUT GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THIS DEPT. BEST OF STAY AWAY FORM BOTH.
HAPPY SHOPPING!
They could never follow directions said I wanted it shipped to different address operator was yes yes we can do that never took down the shipping address. The they kept getting insurance info wrong. I cancelled order they Keep calling claiming they need my insurance info to process claim. Sorry I gave it to you once you can not follow directions lost my dollars they want money no matter how they scam people.
Not only is this company corrupt, they are also incompetent to the point of causing serious harm to its customers. To be fair, there are a few competent individuals in the diabetes department, but good luck being able to reach them. Shame on BCBS for forcing customers with diabetes to use Liberty Medical Supply.
I've been trying to get supplies for my insulin pump for over a month from Liberty ( I still do not have them) I just got put on my insulin pump, and trying to get supplies I need for it . I had to get another bottle of insulin ( to take at night) in case they don't sent me the supplies- I'm almost out of them... Liberty Medical sucks.
I just received my first bill from liberty medical. It's been over a year. The amount was over $3000. Further, if I don't agree to pay it off over a year (that's +300 per month) then I can't get anymore supplies. This is outrageous. I completely agree with this complains and would gladly join any class action suit against Liberty Medical. I have no idea what I will do when our supplies run out. I guess we will just head to the ER.
If I did not have to use liberty medical, I would not, I have had nothing but trouble with them. Every time I call I get a different story and it is a hassle and no one seems to know what is going on. I recieved a bill from them for almost $ 1000.00 dollars, for charges spread out over a year. Eery time hadan order I was told I have a 0 balance and my supplies came with a paper that stated "patient portion " and I got a threatning letter stating I had 15 days to pay it or I would be sent to collections. When I called I got the, yes our billing system recently changed and yada yada, so now I am paying this astronaumical bill that they can't seem to send me statements or bills in the mail for, and every time I call I dread it because they never have the same Info I have to repeat my story, I have to tell them what the payment arrangement is, and get transferred to several different people, it is madening and I don't understand why they do not train their customer service reps to know what they are doing and get a better computer system !
An order tracing number 9012901990536041380141 for my diabetic supplies. When ordered, due to being completely out of supplies, and your company failed to get two new prescriptions for my supplies (same prescription sent twice). Your mailing department changed my order approved by your supervisor from over night to 7-10 business day with no authority to change the mailing. Someone in the Mailing department needs to be corrected, punished, and taught the correct procedures. I was not notified of the change. I am handicapped and have made at least trips up and down the stairs to see if it is here. Now UPS on the order of 9/25/14 cannot find the tracking number and give me no information.
YOUR MAILING DEPARTMENT HAS CAUSED ME MUCH SUFFERING AND NEEDS CORRECTION

Can you recommend a better company than Liberty who is informative, honest, and conducts business correctly
Liberty must have the most inapt billing department. My husband was told he would receive his diabetic testing supplies at nothing out of pocket. Six months later we received a past due bill. We paid the bill in full and canceled our account. Eight months later we received another past due bill that included items already paid, when we disputed the bill we were told they were new charges rejected by our insurance and we had received additional shipments and we would have to take it up with the post office.
I am adding my complaint to those above regarding Liberty's ability to provide adequate service to diabetic Medicare patients. At least six times since June 2014, they have claimed in writing or on the phone that my doctor's office does not respond to their requests for "medical necessity" to change my infusion site every two days. My doctor's office has heard this "song and dance" regarding other patients and Liberty. They have faxed the necessary forms each time. In fact last week, I was in the office and spoke to my doctor, his assistant, and the person who faxed the doctor's latest response to them. Liberty then sent me a written statement that they had not yet received authorization from my doctor. Frankly I don't think they own a fax machine, but are some kind of sham that takes advantage of Medicare and older patients' vulnerability. As one other person above said: RUN from Liberty Medical.
I have been getting my diabetes testing supplies through Liberty Medical since January 2015. When I initially called to inquire with Liberty about signing up, I told them to call me and let me know if I would be looking at coming out of pocket with any expenses before I would confirm that I wanted to get my supplies through them. About a month went by and I inquired as to what was going on and they told me that they were waiting to get information from my insurance. About a week later, I got the supplies in the mail with a statement indicating that I owed no balance. 3 months later, I receive a bill for $24.85 stating that this was my portion of the bill to pay. In addition to the Medicare Advantage Plan that I have, I am also enrolled in Texas QMB Medicaid which usually pays the deductibles and co-pays. I paid the $24.85 and then called Liberty Medical with the intent to cancel my account. The representative that I spoke with told me that my insurance was supposed to have paid out 100% for the diabetes testing supplies and she wanted to talk with the billing department to see why I received a bill. Turns out my insurance doesn't cover the lancing device or the the little useless bottle of control solution that they sent out. I told them to remove that from the account. They could've called me and told me that those items weren't covered, but no, they sent everything out and I got stuck with a bill.
They didn't send me a bill for 8 months, then I got a bill for $2700. I am trying to return items but they said it's past the 60 day return window. Does anyone know if there is any recourse? I will probably just start a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE = they ship supplies to the wrong address - post office charges additional postage fee - postage due to pick up your supplies - then LIBERTY says it's your fault -- go with them if you don't mind waiting for over 2 hours on the phone while they bounce you from person to person only to be told it needs to go toe a supervisor. I wish I had checked them out first also, am going with another company from now on. LIBERY IS HORRIBLE !
Liberty Medical Supply is terrible! They don't know how to conduct business or return phone calls. When I call back I am told that the service provider is not at her desk and to leave a message - so we play phone tag for days. I have been trying to order the transmitter for the DEXCOM Contuous Blood Glucose Monitor. I was initially told that they would provide it. This was back in Sept. After 2 weeks not seeing the item delivered I called back. I was then told that they couldn't ship the item because my insurance wouldn't cover the cost. I have been using the monitor since 2013 and received supplies from Liberty. My insurance sends me a notice on how much of the costs they cover and then Liberty sends me a bill for the remainder. I have signed forms stating I would cover the costs, but now Liberty won't send me the items ordered! With no explanation. So forget them - I am ordering directly from DEXCOM.
I'll try to make it short. My husbands' diabetic supplies were sent but they were the wrong supplies. I called and they said they would send out the correct supplies with next day air. That was on a Friday to be received by Saturday. Monday came and still no supplies. I called and they said it will be processed and will receive it tomorrow (Tuesday). Well, once more, not received. It finally came today (Wednesday) but only half of the requested amount! Again, they said that it was already processed after hours today for the rest of it to be sent out tomorrow. All you get are empty apologies. This company has gone downhill. I remind them when I call that I'm glad that the phone calls are recorded because if there becomes a health issue due to their neglegence that they would have the proof on their so called phone recordings. Let's see how long this takes to get the rest of the order.
Worst company I've ever had to deal with and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I could go back several years worth of problems but will just try to sum up my current problem. My grandson needs infusion sets and reservoirs for his insulin pump. We are leaving for a 30 day trip in a week. I counted his supplies and determined he would be short of them so I contacted Liberty 2 weeks ago and explained the situation. I was told no problem since they had shorted me 2 boxes on his last shipment but would need a letter of medical necessity from his doctor which they would acquire themselves. I called his doctor the same day and explained the call and to be expecting a contact from Liberty. Thinking all is well I didn't make a follow up call back to Liberty until 5 days ago when I hadn't got the supplies that were supposed to be sent express shipping. I was told they had sent a request to the doctor twice but didn't get a response. I called the doctor right away and was told she never received anything from Liberty as is normal and would be happy to respond but needs that request to do so. I got her direct cell number and called Liberty back. I made sure they had the correct FAX number on both ends between doctor and Liberty and asked Liberty to call the doctor directly to make sure this is resolved and they said they would. They also stated they would send me the tracking info within 24 to 48 hours. I never got anything so I called them again. They said they are still waiting on the doctor, doctor says she is waiting on Liberty. I'm pissed and had Liberty to call and speak with the doctor while I was on hold to get this fixed. Was told all should be good and was promised a call the same day once the order is shipped for my own peace of mind. Guess what...no call! Now I want to be finished with Liberty for good but it looks like my grandson will have to go off his pump during our trip and start injecting again. He's bummed and I'm royally pissed. They said they would start an offical investigation into why this happened and call me in 14 days. We won't even be here...GRRRR!
I haven't even officially done business with them. I've applied to use their services and had several phone calls with them but have never received the first prescription through them. It's been months. I've never seen a business run in such a manner. I'm 54 years years old and have had my share of experience.
My insurance company Blue cross blue shield forces me to use Liberty for my diabetic supplies against my preference. I took Liberty weeks to send my initial supplies to begin with which put my health at great risk, I ended up buying one on my own to monitor my blood sugar which was a good thing as my sugars where dangerously high and required immediate medical attention. Where I not medically trained, I wouldn't have known that the symptoms I was having were those of hyperglycemia which required treatment and medication immediately which would have been life threatening if I had not obtained my own meter and realized how seriously high my sugar level were following my surgery.
I got my first shipment with an invoice stating $0.00 balance due. 3 months later I received my next shipment with another invoice also stating $0.00 due. As a brand new type 1 diabetic following a surgery which removed nearly half of my pancreas this was a relief as I'd been off work for 3 months and had a mountain of major medical bills and was struggling just to survive. The next time I received a call from them in regards to ordering my new shipment of supplies I had no concerns as of yet as I had every reason to believe my supplies were covered by my insurance as my previous invoices had indicated no balances due and I had received no bills indicating otherwise so I ordered my next batch of supplies. The next thing I knew I received a bill for 6 months worth of supplies all at once a few days after ordering the new shipment. I immediately contacted Liberty and told them not to send the new shipment and if they did it would be refused. I sent a complaint regarding their billing practices as it should not have taken more than 6 months to bill me for supplies. By this time I had been of work on medical leave for as much time and had little and intermittently no income. Furthermore, I was notified by the company that I was credited for the last shipment which was sent anyway and refused, however they continue to charge me for it as of this new statement which I have just received. I will be notifying my insurance company first thing Monday morning that I believe they are committing fraudulent billing both to me and them. I have tried calling but can't seem to get anyone to answer the phone. I will continue to try to call then and reach a resolution to this issue. As a relatively new customer to their company I hope this is not their standard of business but reading these other comments I have to wonder. So it seems I must agree with the above comment they seem to have issues with getting supplies to customers in a reasonable amount of time, poor communication when there are issues, loosing orders from physicians, and extremely poor billing practices which I have to agree should be investigated.
