We had a solar company that was going door to door in our neighborhood. The process sounded easy, and we were assured that the process would be overlooked the whole way through. We were told that we not only save on our electricity bill, but our payments would be $185 a month we would also be given a credit card to make the 1st eighteen months payments. This company has been very hard or impossible to get ahold of and if you do they say someone will call you back, but they never do. On 6/9/22 they came to our hose to do the install and then realized they had no panels, they put up the brackets and said they would be back with the panels in a day or two. They did not. We called several times, and no one would call us back. Two weeks later they came out to install my neighbors' panels and saw we had brackets but no panels. They called someone in the company and were able to get our panels. We have since found out that our bill will go $225.00 a month after 18 months. This was not disclosed to us. We have never received a card for free payments as promised. We were also to receive a gift card of $100.00 dollars but did not. We call but no one will get back to us. It has been a nightmare just getting someone to return calls.
Desired outcome: We would like our cards for the 1st 18 months payments as promised. Plus our gift card of $100.00. Would love if the company would at least talk to you or call you back like they say they would
I feel your pain! it has taken up 10 months to get our solar system up and running. we were also lied to about the process and the billing. the entire process has been nothing but a nightmare!
This is just one of the problems we all have encountered. Mine stopped producing for about a month. Continued to call and finally I was contacted, and the repairman came out and realized that something had to be replaced. It was done and no other issues since. Second, they promised money also which did not occur.
So any advice for me or what's the update on your situation I am in the same boat as you friend
They also never paid college students for working there. They ship them to a location, provide housing but don't pay the earnings. I contacted the state, the headquarters in Utah and the federal government and nothing is happening. They need to be investigated.
Easily one of the worst major purchasing decisions I can recall making. The people are nice enough when you can ever get a hold of them, but a year later our panels are still not delivering power. Every step of the process has entailed hounding the company for service, which is never done correctly the first - 3rd time. Lumio is basically a scam company as far as our service has been. Nothing but stress and regret, slam the door when the salesman knocks. Sorry in Seattle.
We got solar panels and based on utilities, were told to purchase a number of panels (alot!). It has been almost a year and our utility bill shows zero credit. I want to call an attorney and file a formal complaint. Lumio said they would do an audit and that was months ago and they won’t even call me back.
This may sound like a stupid question, but did they turn the system on? After 7 months of no credit, our power distribution company suggested we check, and lo and behold… nope! Not turned on, and in fact they had no finished the install. I was finally able to get help by contacting Enphase, who makes the inverters for the system. They gave me a different number to call and told me I’d I don’t get a response, call them back and they will put the pressure on Lumio. Lumio did respond and though we had trouble scheduling and a few no shows, the system finally is up and running and generating.
If you don’t have the Enphase Enlighten app installed and set up, your system is not completely installed.
Have you proceeded with the legal recourse. If you have, please update your experience and tell us how that panned out.
Very interested to know as I too feel like going the same route.
I was told that my panels would produce all the power we need. But now I am paying for 2 bills.
Lumio is disorganized. Most calls are an answering machine and they do not return calls for the most part. I have technical issues with the new solar system apparently not providing power as the electric bill is same as before the solar panel installation- $385. The one technical person stated the panels take 3 months to adjust and that is non-sense. They do not seem to know any technical info. I had to install a new panel outdoors for the solar panel electrical connection. They stated two poles needed and wanted a picture of new panel that has only two positions left for the circuit break. It was approved by the Lumio field tech and inspector. When they came out, it needed 4 poles not two. Two for power and two for the surge protector. I had to modify the new box with a circuit breaker sharing the furnace and AC instead of separate to get the extra 2 poles. I asked for a tech due to no savings on the solar and gotten nowhere so far. I am not paying the $200 a month until I get the energy savings they promised.
I am in the same boat.
I was told by the sales person that our system would create all the power that we need. Plus an extra 15% just in case as a buffer for really hot days.
But now not only does it not produce enough power, I have 2 bills and are paying more now than ever before.
Lumio scammed me into thier solar panels. They told me it was a bill swap which means I only pay for my panels and not my electric company which was the first lie. Now I'm paying a high electric bill and the panels and the company is refusing to setting this issue. The representative told me that if I want to pull out of the program I can and will not be held accountable for any cost, but they are telling me I have to pay double what my panels cost just to cancel my solar system. How does that make any sense. Now the representative who've been helping the whole entire time has gone ghost and refuse to text back or answer calls. I made numerous calls and emails and all they can say is someone will audit the system to make sure it works. Simply the panels don't produce enough energy for my house and now I'm stuck with paying 2 bills for a system that don't work.
We have had the worst experience with Lumio. At first the salesman told the roofer not to finish part time of our roof. I filed a complaint with the BBB and consumer protection agency and after 7 months they finally finished our roof and wanted us to be happy that they finished it. Second their salesman told us we would get a tax rebate for the roof and the solar. He lied there are no tax rebates for your roof. We have filed 3more BBB complaints and 2 consumer protection agency complaints. They offered us 4000.00 and wanted us to sign a piece of paper that we couldn’t talk about it on social media we didn’t take the money. They use deceptive and misleading sales tactics and I feel they should be investigated.
Class action lawsuit anyone?
I’m in the same boat. Signed the papers in March. Panels went up in May then nothing.
They said they contacted Sacramento utilities several times which was a lie. Found out it was a one time encounter in July and when I asked for money back for abandonment they said they were working on it. Just more lies. Right now looking for a lawyer to get this done.
Lumio is a scam!,pocket $45,000 and disappeared,I found them with my lawyer. We signed a contract 16 months ago to reroof and solar panels installation. They never reroof, just installed the panels on old roof to mislead the bank and secured the $45,000 project .Now I’ve been paying the bank loan for 10 months +++ attorneys fees in litigation. What a nightmare;never imagined this could happen in USA.
Lumio is not delivering the goods! It has been two months since they had a crew install the solar panels. After waiting 6 weeks for the power company to inspect the hookup to the grid they told me that I had to fill out a questionnaire so that they could pass it on to our local power provider. I had already done that, but I went along with their request. Nothing has transpired in the last several weeks, except to state that the power company is way behind to inspect and o.k. the connection. They fail to follow up with any real action and would prefer to delay while I have to pay for the panels. Lumio could hire private licensed electrical contractors to do the inspection. I think I will be forced to contact my attorney and will ask for legal fees. D. K. Stonebraker
I also had Lumio installed. The system has never gone to cover 50% and mostly only covers less than 30% of usage.( and my usage has not changed) I have called and requested service and analysis of data. I am now paying double for electricity.(what I pay monthly to Lumio plus what I still pay Duke Energy).
I now have a leak thru the vent in my bathroom that when an expert came to checked found the issue was the vent system was damage when they installed the panels. I submitted a request since the company would charge me to fix but if I did with them( the roof company) they would have to take the panels out and I would lose the warranty from Lumio.
I am still waiting on Lumio to do something about this weeks after I submitted there claim...
I don't even know where to start with these financially destructing corrupt organization makes me so sick we have extra bills now and no promises ever followed through with our roof is sagging which is the least of our worries honestly with the other things they have done us
