Mike is a super down to Earth guy who does great work modifying guitar pedals! He's done 4 different modes for me so far and I'll be back for 5,6,7 and who knows after that!
Excellent communication, knowledge, and craftsmanship. Five stars is not enough! will definitely use Mike's services in the future.
Incredible above and beyond service. The modifications performed sound incredible. Can't wait to send more pedals to Modest Mike. Thanks Again!
hello. get a mod or a pedal. they are affordable. i sent mike an sd1. got it back with a sparkle mod. it came to life when i got it to an outdoor gig and cranked up. it does not get invisible. it does not get muddy. it sounds authentic , like on albums from the 70s. like a post production sound. it cuts very nice. just try it. fyi. about ten years ago mike modded a ge7 for me. still using it. no problems. good communicator and a very fast turnover. all good.
I emailed Mike back and forth about a modded MXR Dyna Comp compressor he had for sale. Mike answered all of my questions and was very gracious. I bought the compressor and WOW. I have a lot of compressors and this leaves them all in the dust- with two knobs. Virtually no noise with the sustain set at maximum, and it really sustains, better than any of my other units- including Wampler, Keeley, Forest Green, Pigtronix and more. All of my other units are noisy. Shipping was immediate and I received the MXR in three days. I'm very pleased and would not hesitate to send Mike more of my business. Five stars.

Mike is very communicative, fairly priced, has a fast turnaround time and produces quality work. I would use him again for my pedal modding needs without hesitation. Great guy!
Mike modded my wah pedal and it sounds amazing! First of all, he was super helpful over email and really took the time to answer all my questions. I got "the works" and he was also willing to add an output buffer (something he doesn't advertise) so I can run it in front of a fuzz pedal. I can't believe how great it sounds (it's like night and day from when I first sent it in) and would recommend him to anyone!
I heard a guitarist express his admiration for his Boss GE-7 graphic EQ that had been modified by Modest Mike's, and since I was already fond of my GE-7, I decided to try one of his pedals. What a pleasant surprise: my modified pedal was so much quieter, had a richer tone, and was really punchy in the best way possible! I was very happy with the result. Next, I was curious to try his impressive mod for the Ibanez TS-9. Not only does he install a striking blue LED, but my TS-9 has become so much smoother, with richer tone, better sustain, and the ability to maintain power chords for an extended period! I wondered where Mike had been all this time. It turns out that for over a decade, he's been perfecting his modification skills. He's quick, very reasonable, has an excellent grasp of what makes great tone, and incredibly, he offers a one-year guarantee with his mods. I haven't tried his other modified pedals yet, but if you own and enjoy an Ibanez TS-9 or a Boss GE-7, I highly recommend Modest Mike's modifications! Cheers from AZ-USA.
I recommend Modest Mike on any modification or repair work on guitar effects pedals. He communicates well and the turnaround times are always quick. I will continue to do business with Modest Mike. thx!
This is my second review, as I'm afraid my first review didn't fully appreciate & profess just how thrilled I am with my modest mikes GE-7 quiet mod. I've been a hardcore Luthier-Guitars-repairman since the 70's.Never occurred to me that modded pedals could be soo much better than a stock pedal, but I do know how much better modded guitars are. My MMM's pedals ((2) are a must have effects pedal. I tell you this; if you have a pedal you like, after Mike *** is done with his taistful mods, you won't believe what was missing!

Mike is awesome to deal with! Highly recommend top notch work will definitely do business with again..
As many have stated, I came across MMM by accident. I purchased a second-hand GE-7 that was modded by Mike, on the advice of a guitar slinger in the know. I wasn't sure what to expect but when I plugged in I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet and musical it was. It is a great pedal to have on your board. If you play a lot of different venues it will "fix" any sound problems you might have. So I sent Mike my CS-3 which hissed so bad I was ready to throw it away. When I got it back it was so quiet all I heard was my guitar! Mike was easy to communicate with and performed the work in the promised turn around. Give him a try. You won't be disappointed in his work.
Sent Mike my boss ds1 and he made it sound amazing took 1 week turnaround highly recommended

I have tried a dozen or so pedal EQ's over the last 5 years, and had settled on the GE7, but as well have had mine
I have tried a dozen or so pedal EQ's over the last 5 years, and had settled on the GE7, but as well have had mine modded at least 4 times. Finally, I got sick of it. The highs were never right and the lows could get thumpy. I sent mine to Modest Mike's with the hopes of trying one more time, after sending it to a well-known company which I will leave unnamed. In the end, Mike said he would sell me one of his modded GE7 due to not being able to do anything with it. I got his pedal and no sooner than I turned it on I was completely floored, never had I heard that EQ sound so good. I didn't even have to adjust it, just left it flat all across. I am really impressed with the quality of the sound running through it now, the best I have ever heard. Gave my board new life. This guy is for real.
Thanks Mike,

I heard a guitarist say how much he liked his boss GE-7 graphic eq that had been modded by Modest Mike's and already
I heard a guitarist say how much he liked his boss GE-7 graphic eq that had been modded by Modest Mike's and already loving my GE-7, thought I'd try one of his pedals. What a pleasant surprise: my modded pedal was so much quieter, much fatter, really punchy in a great way! Very happy. Next I thought I'd try his badass mod for IBANEZ TS-9. Not only does he add a great blazing blue LED but my TS-9 is so much smoother, fatter, better sustain & hold on to power-chords forever! Where has Mike been? Apparently for 10+ years he's been refining his mod ability.. He's quick, very reasonable, has his finger on the pulse of great tone, & Holey moley provides a year guarantee with his mods. I haven't tried his other modded pedals yet, but if you own & enjoy an Ibanez TS-9 or a Boss GE-7, I highly recommend Modest Mike's mods! Three thumbs up in AZ-USA
Mike is the man
Mike is the man. I had gotten in over my head. I thought I could modify a pedal on my own. It seemed easy enough, I just wanted to change out the foot pedal button. The button was so loud when pressed that I could hear the click through the vocal mic during recording, and I wanted a silent click. I found the button on the internet, which was getting complicated. I thought it would just be a button with two wires, but it was a super quiet mechanism with 9 connection points! A 3PDT button. And then it turns out that all 9 connections are to the plastic board. I couldnt figure out how to remove the old one, let alone attach the new one. I asked the original pedal manufacturer to help, they said they didnt mod their own pedals (they were a boutique shop). Then asked a competitor who did mod pedals to mod this one, but they would mod their competition! I decided to try the work myself but started to mess it up. So I went on the internet and found Mike, but how could I trust him? I found a local electrician who fixed computers and he quoted me a lot of money and asked questions that worried me. So I emailed Mike and he said he would first speak to the new button seller. finally, someone who was at least willing to step into my world and talk to someone for me. This one step he made to talk to the button seller made me feel like someone was working with me. We talked on the email for a while about what the problem was and what the solution was, and eventually I sent the pedal and new button to Mike, who continued to be talkative and helpful, and finally did the work perfectly. A simple job for him, perhaps, but he was the person I needed. Excited about new pedal problems and having him on my team to help me.
I started out with having Mike mod my Cry Baby GCB-95 wah wah pedal
I started out with having Mike mod my Cry Baby GCB-95 wah wah pedal. The ON/OFF switch needed to be replaced and I wanted an ON/OFF light installed, so I went with the whole "modest mike mod" on it. I was not disappointed. Mike was very nice on the phone and answered all my questions. After receiving the pedal back in a very short amount of time, I was very pleased with the sound of the pedal and the way everything worked. So, I then decided to attend to some of my other, almost forgotten, pedals with Mike. I sent him my vintage MXR Distortion Plus, a Boss Chorus CE-3, and an Ibanez Tube Screamer Overdrive Pro TS808. I was impressed with all the work he did on all the pedals, but the standout success story is the TS 808 Pro. WOW! He turned a pedal that I hated to use, [Square ON/OFF switch that frequently malfunctioned, the hated mini-jack for the power supply, and an ON/OFF light that was barely visible] into a "GO TO" pedal now. The new ON/OFF switch solved my biggest concern with the pedal. Now I can turn it on and off quickly, without the frustration of a malfunction, plus the pedal still looks like it was made that way right out of the box. Also the mods he did expanded the sounds that I can get from the pedal making it far more versatile. The new "ice blue" light looks cool, and is very easy to see from any angle. The new power supply jack makes the pedal compatible with every other pedal I own; no longer a need for an adapter cable. This entire mod went well beyond what I thought could be done with this pedal. Kudos to Mike! I would also like to mention that I purchased his Mod-ed Rat pedal. My question is, where has this pedal been my whole life? It's a power house! I was loving it when I played it "stock." Then I kicked in the mod switch and it was over the top KILLER! I can see this pedal as a "GO TO" addition to my pedal board now. It was such a pleasure dealing with Mike too. He was very patient in answering all my questions and concerns and emailed me pictures to help me see what the finished job would look like. I was very fortunate to have stumbled across his website while surfing around for gear. Mike will be my "GO TO" guy when it comes to guitar pedals from now on.
