I called and asked to be seen by a female dr. I was told several times Dr Chris Allphin was a female. The day of the appointment in walks a male Dr Allphin. He told me I could come back and see a female. I'd already waited several weeks. No concern about the mistake the staff made. Blood work was done and I got a call back from the office telling me I was post menopausal, (yes, I knew that from a previous surgery and my age also indicated that, and the dr and I discussed that.) He said after an ultra sound I needed surgery.
At my pre-op I told him I would not want a breathing tube because one was used on my husband and his throat was injured and 6 weeks later there is still a problem. He told me we will cancel. I explained my concern and he told me I could go to Cincinnati to have it done or he could do a big c-section cut, those were my choices. I told him I'm a singer and don't want the chance of loosing my voice from the breathing tube. He was flippant, no empathy and basically our conversation ended. I told him I would think about this and let him know. He acted like he didn't care. I spoke to my husband, another dr friend and an RN in another clinic who all said cancel. There was no 2nd ultra sound to verify the finding from my first appt 3 months ago or the ultra sound.
I did call and cancel that same evening and said I'd return the prescription I now voided and pick up a copy of my ultra sound the next morning which they said was fine.
When I arrived the next morning I called to let them know I was there and what for. They put me on hold and left me. After 5 minutes I went in. All three front desk ladies would not look at me when I stated I was still on hold waiting for them to pick up. The phones were quiet and they were each just sitting there. No apologies again.
I can not recommend this dr or business to anyone. I worked in the dental field for 20 years and retired from managing retirement communities after 18 yrs. If any of my staff treated a patient, resident or family member like this they would be written up or fired and I would be making a personal call to apologize. I'm new to Idaho and am so shocked how unprofessional this office was.
