With all of the confusion regarding student loans, my loan was transferred to Nelnet from US Dept of Education, prior to loan repayment becoming active again. I use online banking for all of my bill payments. I made the payment to Nelnet for October. I had to go online and try to figure out where to send the payment.
On October 30, I received a check in the mail for the monthly loan payment amount from Nelnet. The check was made out to Nelnet with my student loan information. Apparently, the payment was mailed to the wrong Nelnet address. They have multiple addresses for student loan repayment(s). Instead of them sending the payment to the correct location in-house, they mailed it back to me with instructions to send it to another Nelnet address. I took a photo of the returned check and mailed it to the "correct" Nelnet address that same day (October 30).
As of today, that payment has not been applied to my account and it shows past due! I tried to email them but they are unresponsive. Now, as I am typing this, I am on a phone hold with an approximate 89 minute wait to talk to someone! Who has time for this? It's no wonder that student loans and repayment are a nightmare in the US!
Claimed loss: $204.29
Desired outcome: I want the payment applied to my account and Nelnet needs to improve their ability to talk with customers!
