urgent repair needed
Utility pole in my driveway was damaged in March Northeaster. NYSEG came to assess and work order was issued on April 9, 2018. Since then I have made numerous attempts to contact NYSEG and get repair completed. This has now become a safety issue. With each new rain and wind storm the pole is leaning over more and wires are drooping lower over my driveway making it unsafe for large vehicle such as fire, oil truck, etc.
This need to be repaired as soon as possible.
new electric set up
We submitted all of the proper information for a electric to be set up at our new house and I called the customer service line multiple times to get a date of when the electric would be turned on. I spoke with a Dave who said there isn't anything he can do, it will be done when they get to it. Then I asked to speak with a manager. Stacy came on the phone and she said she was a rep also. Very rude and unprofessional. She said orders are processed as they come but still refused and was unwilling to let me speak with someone who could give me an idea of when we would have electric. We were told on our first call with NYSEG when we submitted the work order that after the inspection was received at NYSEG, we would have electric within the week. Both Dave and Michelle are saying its going to be weeks.
new construction service
We have been calling NYSEG pretty much every single day to get a status of when our service would be turned on. Get nowhere each time. They couldn't provide a date or even a time frame. NYSEG engineer received our report on 5/17/18, and it is still sitting with them. When we asked for a manager, they would tell us the manager was on another line and would call us back.Same excuse every single time. And no one ever called back! Customer service is horrible as well. The lady(Employee ID 125676) I just spoke with even raised her voice. My house burnt down back in 2013 and new house is finally rebuilt. Electricity is the only thing that we are waiting on to be able to move in. I have a little boy, and my baby is due next week and my mom is coming next week to help . We currently live with my friend, but she doesn't have the room for all of us once baby is born. Representative could not provide me an number to the engineer. She claimed she was trying to give me information so I could make other arrangements. Well, the only information she gave me was "It's going to take a while and I don't have a time frame for you and I don't have a number for you to contact the engineer." Worst company ever! Unfortunately, NYSEG is the only service provider in our area. We are stuck with them!

5/22/2018 Bill went from no more than $250 a month for 12 months to $900.
6 phone calls to them and 8 meter readings 6 by me to a live person over the phone and 2 by their own people. one of these people I met at the meter the other had an appoint with me for 2-4:00. He never showed but I was told he showed up at 10:15 but no one was home. I was there all day no one showed.
I have been reading the meter for 5 years. I was told I read meter wrong
after repeating how many times the meter was read and being put on hold many times I was told the bill would be adjusted. great what was the new bill?
put on hold again. the new bill is $875. WHAT ? so now the bill is to be adjusted again but I have to wait 2-4 days to find out !
Once again told I read the meter wrong. I asked if they would like me to bring in the pictures of the meters ? I take pictures of the meters every time? they said you will see a new bill in 2-4 days CLICK they hung up !
power outage
04/05/2018 - In the past, NYSEG would at least give an estimated time of repair during an outage. The past couple of outages have been different.
It is ridiculous that now after being out of power for 15+ hours that we still can't get an estimated time of repair. Website numbers for amount of customer out of power has not changed and our outage is still being "assessed". The communication is awful. This is Unacceptable!
This same situation happened to our neighborhood, ending last evening after a power outage of over 27 hours. The communication with NYSEG was ineffective, requiring many, many phone calls, and finally a call to 911 by one of our neighbors. The repair crew was unaware of our situation. Meanwhile we had successfully found the cause of the outage, gave the information to NYSEG, who still didn’t convey it to the repair crew. Only after the 911 call and the arrival of the crew, did the crew get the information and from us! The repair and restoration of our service took a few minutes.

I've received two calls in the last three months where I've been advised I may have interrupted service. The representative ask for full social security numbers. You should only ever request the last four digits

I paid my bill before date that was needed to keep by agreement intact. I received a bill with a $200 dollar charge for cancelled agreement after I was assured it would not be. I now have to pay double in the amount of $485 just to have the said agreement reinstated when it should not have been cancelled in the first place. I am very disappointed with actions of NYSEG and how they act like crooks. As a mother of 3 children in my home, every dime is hard to throw away and bills are a struggle. I now have to figure out how to pay this amount because of someone else and their wrongful actions on my account.

What is it with this company? They never clear trees when they can and always have to bring in outside help when trouble occurs.

What should be on file is my husband's disability! What should take priority is the people who are disabled! My husband just had lung surgery and that doesn't seem to face you people. My neighbor is restored, majority around me is restored. I had called nyseg twice stressing my concern for my husband in a home with 0 degree feel. We had to spend time in the ER to help him, on top of that, my child is very sick. But my husband being disabled, he should have been the priority! I couldn't give a good God dam about your dam tickets like a laundry mat for restoration! We are still with no power, we have a generator, but unfortunately we can not afford to keep it going! It is after 4pm and I am sure someone will be here today to take care of what needs to be taken care of, a electrical wire replacement that you cut and our electricity! My husband is a very sick man, if anything happens to him, I will make alot of noise!
Understand this is my family, All Disabled and Elderly Residents should always come first!

Our power went out 4 days ago and not one nyseg worker or truck has shown up to do any work. Furthere, nyseg has it's outage report rigged so you can't actually talk to anyone. Zero information, zero work being done and no electricity which means no water. I can't get in touch with anyone, that's how nyseg has it planned out.
Lets get rid of the foriegn owners who are simply bilking ny customers without providing a needed service. Write to cuomo. We can get rid of these creeps who are robbing us if we plan together.

It has been over 24 hours that power has been lost in most of North Salem, N.Y. 10560 and there was minimal damage caused by the previous storm.And almost half of their customers are without power.As in Pietsch Lake community, the waste removal is powered by electricity.Yet they say power will not be restored until 3/5/2018.Of which most of our food will be spoiled.

As a contractor there is always an issue getting good print service for utilities. I recently encountered a nyseg Employee ( Kimberly needles) from the binghamton office. Supposedly an engineer. This woman uses so many illegal drugs I'm surprised she can put her pot pipe down long enough to even use a keyboard. Obviously there is no drug screen at nyseg if there are other junkies in the area that need a job.
constant short power outages every day lasting less than 1 minute surges
Been having an issue with short power outages every day since at least June of 2017. Power goes out and back on, shutting down TV, clocks, washer & dryer, water pump, and computer causing a reset of everything. These power "surges" outages are causing problems with new washer needed electrical panel replaced, water well pump (needed to be replaced), temperature gauge on oven have to restart oven temp (temperature failing needed replacement and needs replacement again), computer running slow, immediate problems with computer transactions lost (paying bills and power goes out, making order and it goes out - loosing data recorded)FIOS needs to restart (had to replace cable box and router this past year). Besides this being aggravating it is causing issues and costing money on all the above items. Service has been out and it is not our personal box or internal issues - it is street wide issue. This is unacceptable and outside line secure issues need to be addressed. If not resolved, group legal counsel will need to be sought out for reimbursement of damages these outages continue to cause.

I came home from work on Tuesday 10-10-2017 at 3pm to find my power was shut off. I did not receive a 72 hr notice one of representatives said they don't give them in summer months. It is 2nd week of October in upstate NY! Paid bill had my account restructured by 4 pm. (Western Union) called to give receipt numbers another representative said I had to email the receipt which I also did. Now it is 10-12-2017 and I still have no power. I have spoiled food and my house is freezing. I have never had any problems with nyseg until this. Also I have a child who lives here who is still in school. I am not happy at all with this treatment by your company. Also lost 2 days of work waiting for someone to come here to turn back on.
cost of electric and gas delivery contract
In July I received a NYSEG bill double what it normally is. When I investigated I was told I had not signed and return a contract with whatever company was delivering my electricity. Well I never received such a contract and feel this is just an excuse. I feel this is not justified and this month after I spent countless hours trying to figure out what would best suit my budget I received another NYSEG bil for triple what I should be paying. Do you really think that if I had received such contract I would have ignored and allowed myself to be billed these horrendous overcharges. Isn't it bad enough that one has to spend days trying to figure out what we would like to pay for delivery. I would think a follow up contract or a phone call might have been in the offing. My account number is NO1000007537491. This is a total rip off especially making me wait for an addional month after signing with a new delivery company. You have forced me to pay over 500 more then normal and this is highway stealing. Would you kindly look into this and tell me if there is some way I can recover some of this stolen money. loss of power
As of the 23rd I have lost power 11 times in the month of July alone. June was almost double that. It goes out anywhere from seconds to 9+hours at a time and could go out several times in a day. Often it's during the night which affects my alarm clock. When I call for an estimated time of restoration, I am greeted with attitude and and excuses. (too many people using fans and a.c. at once, cloud cover, we don't know) and more often than not they can give no estimate. I've lost a fridge/freezer full of food 3x this summer and have had numerous power surges and brown outs frying plugs, fuses and electronics (regardless of paying to have my circuit breaker and wiring updated). I live in a populated area approx. 100 yards from a major road. With the astronomical fees NYSEG charges, the necessary maintenance and grid upgrades should have been done already. Are they waiting for a complete system melt down? They run a monopoly. Being our only source of power, they take advantage of that. (If you choose to get energy from another company, you are still charged ridiculous fees by nyseg for delivery-or LACK THEREOF).

I am wondering, how many times we have to put up with power outages. These outages occur far more frequently than they should and it always affects the same 110 customers in my area. There has to be a fault somewhere in the lines that service us. Then, my bill is effected, when the power is restored, because of the power surge! Being on a fixed income, this is unacceptable, not to mention all the other inconveniences the outage creates.

We ordered Nyseg a few months ago to come down to add more power to our house, and they keep pushing it off. They came once, and said that we need to make a normal driveway to be able to reach the new meters, we did that right away, and we're still waiting since then. Our electricity keeps busting cause of high usage, in the peak hours - in the summer mostly - we can have a few hours that it keeps shutting off every few minutes. But nothing bothers them to come down...

I'm so upset and dissatisfied with NYSEG. I was on a forgiveness arrears program for a year. I had to literally fight tooth and nail to get thanks for consumer affairs aggressive involvement. In 11/2016 I was laid off from my job. In February 2017 I seeked help from Catholic charities for $102.44 for my NYSEG Bill. Then in March $ seeked help from HEAP in my county for NYSEG Bill. They helped with $401.00. Nyseg agreed with HEAP worker to not shut us off and to pay arrears we owed on 3 months of bills which will prevent me from being taken off the arrears forgiveness program that conversation took place at HEAP office on 3/17/2017. I received a termination in May 2017. I was taken off the arrears forgiveness program and no customer service representative could explain to me why or how but I took myself off. Then they could not explain to me where did $503.44 go to from 2 agencies that helped. I had no choice to contact attorney generals office and file a complaint 2 weeks ago. It depresses me so badly to see how these billionaire dollars companies take advantage of low income customers. I finally spoke to a representative from NYSEG who believed me and was baffled at what had happened she quickly told me to hold she had to bring account to her supervisors attention do you believe her call was disconnected. NYSAG has the coldest most emotionless phone representatives. Absolutely compassionless people work there without warning they showed up at my door demanding payment for a bill I never received or they would cut off the service. I called the service number for help and they just flat-out refused to help me. I spoke to two representatives and they both had the same too-bad for you attitude. This was truly an experience I will never forget.
