Nokia poor customer service / after sales service

Dear Sir,

I write to you with both the utmost disgust at your “after sales service” in Dubai and barely an ounce of hope that this letter will be met with anything more than a ‘text book’ apologetic response. However, as a letter of complaint is probably the last stone to be unturned in my quest for some semblance of customer service at Nokia, I feel I have no choice but to undertake what will obviously be a colossal waste of my time and energy.

Allow me to start at the beginning. I purchased a Nokia 6710 Navigator from the Nokia showroom in Burjuman mall, Bur Dubai on the 7th of April. In just over 20 days, the keypad of my brand new phone began functioning erratically. When I took it back to Michael, the sales person who attended to me when I made the purchase, I was informed that I could only return / exchange a phone within 7 days of the purchase. However, he reassured that problem was most likely just a software glitch that could easily be rectified by performing a software upgrade which would take “approximately an hour”. Not one to make a fuss, I decided to indulge in some window shopping in the mall whilst I waited. After spending FOUR HOURS (when an estimate is quadruples, it ceases to be an estimate and ends up being just plain ignorance) memorizing every window in the mall, I was informed that the problem still persisted and that the phone would need to be taken to the Nokia service centre on Khalid Bin Waleed road where I was asked to contact the manager, Mr. Robbie.

I managed to find the time to visit the service centre only on the 29th of April. Mr. Robbie, who I must admit was a very polite gentleman, told me that he would try to have the phone returned to me the same evening, failing which, the phone would be returned on the 2nd of May as the service centre was closed on weekends. I received a text on the 2nd of May stating the job number ([protected]) and informing me that the service centre was awaiting parts for the repair. When I called the service centre for further details, the lady that answered could neither tell me what parts they were waiting for nor when the parts were expected.

By this time my usually boundless patience had began to wear extremely thin. I made a few calls in an attempt to lodge a complaint and was finally given the number of a Mr. Gilbert, who told me he was the manager in charge of all the Nokia outlets in the city. Finally! I had found someone with the authority and ability to end my saga. I poured my heart out to Mr. Gilbert who eventually asked me to send him a text message stating my name, the job number I was given and the model number of my phone. He claimed he would look into the matter “immediately” and get back to me. For a brief moment, I thought I had found the one person at Nokia who actually knew what the terms ‘customer service’ and ‘after sales service’ meant. How wrong I was! The fact that Mr. Gilbert did not bother to call me back was only half as disturbing as the fact that when I tried to call him back at least twice, he refused to answer my calls.

I was left with no option but to turn back to Mr. Robbie at the service centre for assistance. I called him up and he explained to me that the shipment he was expecting had a problem with customs at a port along the way. However, he claimed that the shipment had since been cleared and was already on it’s way to Dubai and I was given an outside limit of one week for the repair work.

This conversation took place during the first week of May. Subsequently, I received another text from the Nokia service centre that was identical to the first one. As I type this letter it is the 13th of May, which is a Thursday, and I am STILL awaiting the return of my phone. Being the weekend the service centre will be closed tomorrow and the day after that. If my phone is not returned to me today, it will be 15 days since I have given it for repairs.

Before this nightmare began, I was a staunch promoter of Nokia phones, proclaiming to all and sundry how convenient and user friendly they were. Practically every phone I have owned to date has been a Nokia. Unfortunately, I find that user friendliness is a BIG price to pay for total and complete lack of customer care. Which is why I have decided to sell my new Nokia 6710 when I get it back from your service centre and shift to another brand. I am fully aware that the loss of a single customer will not hurt your company in the least. I suppose it is that very mentality that has manifested itself in the service I had to endure over the last month.

Regretfully yours,

Sebastian Mascarenhas

After 20th day of my purchase of nokia 5610 model, the phone lost its display. I gave the set on 11th January for repair. I was told to collect the set on 19th January, on 19th when I inquired about the set, they told me to come on 24th January. On 24th they told me the set hasn’t come yet and inquire by phone before I come there next time. I knew there was some problem, so I had mailed your call center and had called up and told the matter. There was one response from your call center that I should contact after 48 hrs.As if I had made a mistake by buying nokia and now I have to spent on phone calls to call your call center again and again, and petrol to visit you nokia car center where the exact date cannot be conveyed., anyhow when I called up the call center again I was told on 28th January that my phone is ready and I can collect it. When I went there, I saw that my phone was not in OK condition and the flip was not working , to my worst shock, that my new phone for which I bought your 500 bucks casing to protect it from scratch was full of scratch, and a month old phone was looking like a year old phone. There also I compromised and I was told to come back and collect the set on 4th February. I gave a call to you call center again, and didn’t got any satisfactory feedback except for my phone bills. On 4th Feb, was told to call come on 6th Feb. On 6th Feb , they told me to come back on Saturday, i.e. 9th Feb, I called up your call center again, they told me to pass on the phone to the nokia care person in charge, and after talking to them , your repair executive assured me that on 9th Feb, I can finally have my set back. Here is 11th Feb, the same old story continues and I am told to call back on 18th Feb. I gave a call to your call center again and am told by them also to wait for 18th Feb to come as my phone panel is damaged.

My God is this the way, NOKIA traumatizing their customers. All modes (email, call center, calls) of complaint have failed to respond to my problem.

I have buyed a new Nokia CDMA cellphone 3 days before, first problem what I have faced is there is a space given to put UIM but they have prohibited it strictly to put put anything there, after that I was going through the security settings first i was finding myself unable to change the security code as when i was entering the code mentioned in the booklet it was saying code error, after trying time to time I changed the same but just after that I do not know what happened my cell was working properly it turned off and just after that it was locked and I was trying to open the lock by entering the code since then it is saying CODE ERROR.

Since that day up till now I have shown it to 'n' number of technicals nobody is able to unlock the same, some are say that the given ESN no. is not matching with the software, some are saying that it won't be done, The service centre guys are saying that it will take a month for them to open the lock code.

I am completely harassed and do not know what to do.

Someone suggest.

I lodge a complaint about my Nokia-3250 GSM Handset with having the problems camera clarity, mmc rejected, fm not working, display blank on 16/05/07. After that I so many times visited your Nokia care (east patel nagar) center to ask the position of my Nokia-3250 handset end all in vain.

I further say that overall the swapped mobile Nokia3250 issued to me with the serial no. [protected] on 04/07/07. As I received the swapped mobile I inserted the my hutch/idea chip, the mobile gives no network connection. I further complaint the same and they have booked the complaint with job sheet no. [protected] till today it has not been repaired.

Very poor service!

Nokia not accepting nokia 6300 mobile for repairing

Be aware of fraudulantNokia Warranty services declaration for repairing of Nokia mobiles under and after warranty through Nokia Care Centres in India as they neither accept mobiles for repairing against damages caused by mobile batteries supplied by them exploding in use with mobile phones. One such case happened with Nokia 6300 IMEI [protected] on 01.04.2010.

Further they do not furnish their genuine postal addresses, the names of their executives and company owners etc on web sites to mail complaints in writing.

A written complaint sent to Nokia India Pvt. Ltd. 5th Floor, Tower A&B, Cybergreen, DLF Cyber City, Sector 25A, Gurgaon, Haryana “122002. India was returned back with comments “left out without address”.

Nokia is very frequently changing its trade name from Nokia India Pvt. Ltd to Nokia India Pvt. Ltd to defraud the consumers.

Below is the written complaint sent to them which remains unreplied.

Anyone buying a Nokia Mobile Phone must be aware of the fraudulent activities of Nokia which is unlike China mobiles.

Do not reply to that email or call that number. It is a scam. Nokia would NEVER have a @live.co.uk email address.

This type of email address is also popular with fraudsters.

Nokia jumbo prize

We are in new zealand and my partner received a text saying he had won 250 000 british pounds and we needed to email '[protected]@sapo. Pt' im not sure what country this email goes to but it doesnt sound like a british email address. But we thought we would email anyway because whats the harm and that money is worth more than double in new zealand! Although we both knew it sounded like a scam for sure.
I just received this email in my junk folder and reading through it sounds more and more like a scam I googled immediately and found all these different but similar emails and texts alot of other people received. So I thought I would add this on here as well as others in new zealand might have received the same thing. But this sould be stopped or announced publicly because I know alot of people howould be sucked in. Luckily I read about scams in magazines and didnt go any further.

Nokia service new phon not working

I’ve bought a Nokia 6700 classic on 25th Jan 2010. Ever since I’ve got this phone there is a problem of phone switching off on its own while talking, while on charging even when it lying idle. We went to the dealer and were told that the dealer has no responsibility after the sale is made and were directed to a Nokia Care centre. The care centre told us that the problem is with software of the phone and can be rectified by updating the software was given a target delivery 4 days. we got the handset back from the Care centre on without checking whether the phone was working properly it was delivered to us. Ever since then there is a same problem that the phone switched off again on its own and is not switching ON at all. After that the phone was again given for repair again there was the same problem phone switched off this is reaped after it is given for repair for 3 times .A temporary mobile was given to me after 3rd time of my phone send to repair and which was not even working. and they said they will try and give me a fresh phone as there is a problem in the phone now that I went to take the delivery of the new phone what I find is they are giving me a black phone instead of the chrome model which I had. and they tell me this is more expensive then your Chrome phone what I bought and which was up for repair or replacement and what they said is nokia is out of stock with the chrome phone and they will try and get it is next 7days. it’s been all most 3 moths I have got this handset and I got to use the handset I think for 1 month else its been with nokia care centre for repair
I would request you to kindly give me a credit note as I can`t trust your services anymore its hopeless I am in business of stock market and I know what pain I have gone throw by keeping a trust on your brand name NOKIA hope I won’t have a pain to use your new handset and will get my hard eared money back as follow I am giving my job sheet numbers

Nokia breakage of ear piece

Sir,
I have bought a brand new nokia bluetooth headset BH-105 within 2 weeks the earpiece of it got broken. I immediately, went to a Nokia care in chennai (ADYAR) I had a very irresponsible response saying that, they cant replace such damages, I dont think if u are selling a product U should also have alternatives options for the damage if faced. Im really upset with the response of the Nokia Care. I need a proper reponse for it. In Nokia website you have given a lot for your mobiles but very few for products like these.

Today I received the following sms :

"congratulation! Your mobile number has won & pound;350, 000:00 in the uk nokia lotto promo. Call +[protected] and email to [protected]@live.Co. Uk for your prize claim"

The message came from +229 [protected].

Please note that the body text has a non-standard english first word, and the sum in gbp is also non-standard : I have copied them exactly as I received them.

+229 appears to be the international calling code for the republic of benin.

Could anyone advise me how to prosecute these people?
