My wife and I have stayed at Novotel St Avold,  on our to and from Switzerland, for a few years in the hope that it would improve.
It never improves and the staff are indifferent to complaints.
Last year we had a terrible time there.
We would like to stay there again this year but, if the problems are not sorted out, we will be looking elsewhere.
Below is a list of problems with the hotel
Coffee & Tea Facilities
Coffee maker had no water but it was wet inside which means it had been emptied
It did not fit under the tap so could not fill it
Unnamed coffee capsules which had dust on them
No milk or cream for coffee
Silly wooden stick stirrer
Strange variety of teas
Fridge
Not very cold
One bottle of water
One small carton of orange
One small carton apple
No glasses
One muesli bar
One packet of nuts
However, it is supposed to be a double room
Bathroom
No face flannels
Showerhead not very clean and leaked
Bathrobe was crumpled and looked like it had been used
Soap was in dispensers and no...ue wire or cable in the pool and it did not look very clean
There are no steps into the pool
Other problems
When we stayed on 3rd September the restaurant was closed due to there being a couple of meetings.
We were not informed about the restaurant until we asked to book a table. The receptionist did not care that we had driven for over 7 hours with a brief stop for a bite to eat at lunch time. I had to argue with the chef to make us some dinner as all that was on offer was pizza and I have a severe allergy to cheese.
The receptionist has never been really interested in any complaint which is why we do not normally complain.
In my opinion this is not a 4* hotel. I have stayed in hotels without any stars which have been better than this.
It is old and rundown. It would be better to knock it down and build a better hotel that is really a 4* hotel.
If I can be assured that the hotel will have made some effort to improve then I might be persuaded to stay and, perhaps, give a good review.

Desired outcome: A proper room that we are paying for, better fridge contents, better tea and coffee facilities, a better menu system than a chalk board, a better choice at breakfast, more friendly staff
