I purchased two puppies from Polkadox Miniature Dachshunds located in Mulberry, Fl, ran and operated by Lauren Buglio. She did not disclose to me the first pup I had on deposit had an under bite until nearly time to take her home, She finally disclosed it to me because I decided to come look at the pup in person, the pup was almost 6 weeks old, you don't wait that long to notice an under bite as a breeder. She figured I"d be in love with it and take it anyway, which is playing on someone emotions and fraudulent. Unethical. I had already put a deposit on the second pup with her or I'd have not done it. She advertised the second pup as a chocolate and tan, it was not, as it grew it was clearly a red, a chocolate based red pup. In both cases I had deposits on pups and did not end up with what I thought I was purchasing. The second pup she sent home with kennel cough and ear mites. cost me vet bills of which she only wanted to pay a part of. The first pup also had ear mites and I had to buy treatment for both pups for ear mites. They both had dry coats and I had to purchase special oil shampoos to get them to get better, also had to purchase supplement for coats to add shine and health to them. I found her to be deceitful in her practices of how she does business, so buyer please beware of this breeder. She will not honor her sales agreement or the Florida pet lemon law. She also charges her clients the fee for which pay-pal charges her on the deposits and according to pay-pal any business operated thru them is not allowed to do that, charge for that fee, so I reported her to pay-pal. I am reporting her to AKC also. She did not have a business license in her county so I reported her to them also. She did have her sales tax license which is good since she does charge her clients extra for the Florida sales tax in addition to what she ask for the puppies. She doesn't keep her appointment times and will double book them and expect you at last minute to make other plans to come at another time. Which is difficult if you had to take time off work. She is just very unprofessional, and unethical and fraudulent.
thanks I was looking for a dachshund, I'll beware of that breeder.
I purchased four puppies within a short amount of time because I recently retired and for the first time in my life I didn'r have a job or kids and could devote time to having more than one dog to love and care for.
I am not a breeder, I get my dogs spayed. they come with AKC limited reg papers.
I am not a bad person, I was only trying to do the right thing and keep others from haveing the smae experience I had. I am very happy that eveyone else is happy and had a good experience with thisbreeder.
I will say we have resolved things. I wish no one any ill.
Again, I am happy that everyone else is happy.
Try adopting next time
I have purchased 2 mini dachshunds from PolkaDox and I have had ZERO problems with my puppies! They come with their health certs and my vet says they are in great health and have no problems. I have found Lauren to be a great breeder and have recommended her to numerous friends and family members. I have gotten nothing but compliments on both my puppies and everyone falls completely in love with them on-site. Lauren has always been very accommodating with me regarding visiting her to see the liters, and all her puppies are ALWAYS clean, healthy and happy! Lauren has also let me come see the puppies before putting down any money to make sure I was happy with the puppy I was choosing. Also, with each of our vet visits, both my puppies check out perfect! They are growing great and we have had zero issues with any kind of ailments. Personally, I feel that if you are making the decision to purchase a puppy, I recommend you make a conscious effort to go see the dog and ensure its the one you want before pulling something like this and dragging a good name and breeder through the mud. I will HIGHLY recommend Lauren to friends and family in the future, and I see myself and my family adopting another puppy from her when we are ready. Lauren is a great business woman and goes above and beyond to make her clients happy! Not every puppy will be good for breeding in the future. Maybe if that's your goal, you should make that known up front!
I personally know of 5 dachshunds theat were purchased from Lauren Buglio and theey are all sweet, loving, healthey dogs. My motheer owns two of her dachshunds (littermates) and I own two from a different litter. The 5the dachshund is owned by my motheer's mailman and he was thee one who directed us to Lauren. About 4 years ago, my motheer purchased a longhair chocolate dapple female and a longhair chocolate female from Lauren. They are beautiful and have great personalities. I fell in love withe theem when I would visit my mom in Florida and when my 15 year old dachshund died, I decided to buy two pups from Lauren. Knowing how wonderful my mom's two dachshunds are, I took a leap of faith and purchased my two littermates without meeting them in person. I now own a longhair black and silver dapple female and a longhair cream male. They are almost 2 years old and my husband and I remark almost every day about what good dogs they are and how lucky we are to have them in our lives. When I purchased them, Lauren was very accommodating to me which I greatly appreciated as I flew from Pittsburgh Pa. to pick them up. She kept thee pups for about 10 days until I could purchase a reasonable flight. I would highly recommend Lauren and would not hesitate to purchase another dog from her. I had no extra PayPal fees attached to my bill and in fact, I am pretty sure she only charged me a deposit for one dog, not two. The pups were seen by a vet prior to my picking them up and they were healthy. I find Lauren to be reputable, honest, and would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a dachshund.
I know of 3 people who purchased a total of 5 dogs personally--NONE have had any problems In fact we recommend Lauren to people, as they remark how gentle and friendly, the 5 dogs are ! I enjoyed dealing with her, she really loves her kids [dogs] ! I can't believe how nasty that person is ! next time she can go to a puppy-factory for perfection sure--------she can over pay and get what she deserves, , , , , I HIGHLY RECCOMEND LAUREN BUGILO & POLKADOXDACHSHUNDS ! I purchased 2 of the cutest, sweetest doxies, one is a dapple, , the other is a chocolate---who looks like her daddy, . I have always had doxies, Maybe this person should have bought a PITT-BULL to match her personality, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
I have 2 dachshunds from Lauren and have been nothing but happy with them. They both have been and are still very healthy and happy. When I got my first one she followed up, making sure she adapted to her new environment and she did the same with the second one, it just shows that she loves and cares about her puppies and where they end up. As for her business practices, I found her to be nothing but honorable and accommodating. I have and will recommend Lauren Buglio as a breeder to anybody who is looking for a dachshund and certainly would buy another puppy from her. The lady who made the complaint is absolutely crazy...she obviously does not know anything about puppies, she needs to do some more research on what she wants, go see the puppy when its first born and then go back a couple of weeks later and notice the changes. Look at what you buy in person and not based on a picture, lady I have to agree with for doxy...buy a damn pit bull or a snake.
We have purchased two puppies from PolkaDox. We got our male 3 1/2 years ago at 8 weeks of age and our female 9 months ago at 13 weeks of age. Both experiences were excellent. We went to see the dogs before we put a deposit on them. We spoke with Lauren on the phone and emailed, and had no issues with scheduling a time to see them. Lauren also sent us plenty photos of the puppies. If we had not been able to see them ahead of time, we would have asked for closeup photos or maybe even to skype to check teeth, etc. Both dogs came with health certificates from her vet. We brought our dogs to our vet when we got them, and they were both in excellent health, with absolutely no issues. Our dogs continue to be very healthy dogs, with great skin, coats, teeth, and demeanors. Lauren cares so much for all of her dogs and about the families that they go to. She has continued to stay in touch with us, and loves get photos and to hear about how the dogs are doing. We consider PolkaDox to be an excellent breeder..
I purchased two puppies from Lauren and they are perfect. I could not be happier! Lauren was so very nice during the weeks leading up to the pick up day always posting photos of the puppies. All the dogs are in her house and there is dog stuff everywhere:-) you can tell she loves them. Lauren didn't hide anything and the puppies I have are exactly as described. Their coats are beautiful and they are in perfect health! I will recommend her to anyone looking for a dachshund.
We have purchased 4 Dachshunds from Polkadox Dachshunds over the years (3 for us and 1 for my daughter) and have found Lauren to be a very professional and caring breeder. All of our pups are Beautiful, Highly Intelligent, Friendly and Healthy. We live quite a distance away and have had to come during evening and nighttime hours to see the pups. Lauren has been very accommodating to us. She has never cancelled an appointment and has allowed us whatever time we needed to be sure of our choice. My wife and I have been married for 43 years and are both dog lovers so we have had many dogs during that period. We can honestly say that Lauren breeds the best dogs we have ever had. they all have unique personalities but what they do have in common is that they are very friendly as well as having beautiful coats and great health. She seems to have the right combination for producing really sweet dogs without the "Temperament" problem we have run into with other Dachshunds. She must spend a lot of time with the puppies because when you go there they are always very clean and not afraid at all of humans picking them up and touching them. There are breeders out there that are in it for the Money and breeders who do it for the love of the breed. you can tell Lauren does it for the love of the breed and nobody does it better. When people ask us where we got our fantastic dogs we are thrilled to give them Polkadox Dachshunds name knowing they will get a great dog. Each time we have picked up a pup from her we have received all the proper documentation as well as a vet's health statement and shot records as well as a package of food that they are use to eating and a blanket toy with their mothers scent on it to help with the first scary nights away from home. Any questions we have had after the sale have always been answered without delay. We have found Lauren to be professional breeder of great integrity and we know where we are going to go when we are ready to add to our family.
My husband and I adopted one of her "retired" adult males. At first we were concerned with how a 5 yr. old would adapt to a completely different environment. Lauren assured us that he was sweet and loving and would do well. We made an appointment to meet him at her house and she was very accommodating on scheduling a convenient time for us to come by. When we arrived we were happy to see that not only was he sweet and affectionate but also quite beautiful with great markings. Her other dogs all looked beautiful, well cared for and happy. They have the run of her house and backyard and it is very obvious that she loves them. When we were there she had two litters of puppies and they were beautiful and healthy. If we were in the market for a puppy, we would not hesitate to purchase one of hers! When we took him home we brought him to our vet to be neutered and have an overall checkup with dental. His was given a clean bill of health and our vet could not get over his sweet disposition and beautiful markings. Lauren checks in with us to see how he is doing and we love giving her updates and send pictures of his new life. We would highly recommend her as a breeder!
I have known Lauren Buglio for 20+ years. I was a frequent client in her practice where she worked as a veterinarian technician. Lauren always greeted us with a smile and loved on my dogs as if they were her own. Lauren has spent valuable time outside her work hours giving me assistive information regarding my dogs. I have visited Lauren's home multiple times expected and not expected. Her home has always been clean and her dachshunds were always well groomed, clean, bright eyed and healthy. Lauren and her dachshunds have a special bond that is easily recognized. I am currently a show-hobby breeder for maltese. This lady must not be very informed regarding making good business decisions. Why would anyone wish to place a deposit on a puppy without seeing the puppy first? In addition, she decided to purchase a second dog from her even though she was dissatisfied with the first dogs underbite late "disclosure" and ear mites. If the dog had ear mites the veterinarian would have not issued a health certificate. Especially, with two puppies bought at separate times. While Lauren knows what ear mites are and treatment, the veterinarian would not have issued the health certificate for the puppies. Ear mites are easily transferred, what about your environment? In addition, I must comment on the bite of the "puppy". Puppies grow and their bite changes during their growth until at least 6-7 months of age. This is why all show breeders never sell a "show" puppy until this age. This puppy was sold as a pet, and if bite was a medical concern this too would have been a reason that the veterinarian would not offered Lauren the certificate. Same with the "dry coats". Lastly, did you know that the AKC does regular inspections of their breeders? Well, they do! So, what is another inspection by AKC to Lauren? Nothing! This is just taking AKC funding to do an additional inspection for no reason. This funding that is being wasted could have been better placed to help shelters or medical research for canine diseases.
Obviously the original poster has too much time on her hands. a hateful, spiteful person that lies and deceives. she is the one that is fraudulent and deceitful that thrives on drama. Leave the innocent puppies out of your Jerry Springer freak show, if you weren't satisfied before picking them up I am sure you could have gotten a refund without your passive aggressive, juvenile behavior.
If you are going to tell a story please tell the whole story. This lady lies and this complaint is only part of the story. She is buying puppies at pet price and trying to get some of her money back from the breeders. She has been buying puppies from breeders in the past few months as pets. Tell me who buys 4 new puppies in 6 months if not a breeder. Me thinks something fishy is going on with this lady's story.
I purchased a puppy from Lauren and have been very
Happy with my decision. I visited the puppy
Prior to pick up. Lauren sent me lots of pictures
Along the way, showing his progress. When we went
To visit Jack he was a happy, healthy little guy.
He was happy to be held, affectionate, and active.
Lauren's house is completely dedicated to her dogs.
While I was searching for just the right puppy for my family
I received many recommendation from other breeders to call
Lauren. I had visited Lauren's website and Face book, I saw nothing but positive postings. Lauren has kept in touch with
Me since we brought Jack home a month ago, checking
On his transition. When we picked Jack up Lauren walked us out
To the car giving Jack one final pat on the head.
Soon after we brought Jack home I took him to our
Vet. The vet commented on his good health,
His shiny coat and pleasant disposition. During the entire
Process I found Lauren to be an honest pleasant and
Knowledgeable breeder. I have recommended her to
Friends and family and will continue to do so
Lauren works very hard at her "business" and has been
A respected breeder for nearly ten years.
I have purchased two pups, 3 years apart, from Lauren and have personally known her for quite a while. I have recommended her on numerous occasions as a highly reputable breeder. One that cares not just for her pups but for her buyers as well. She called to check that they were adapting well and were getting along fine with the family. We have no health problems, no coat issues, no nothing. These were two beautiful, healthy puppies that have blessed our home. Lauren has worked very hard to become the knowledgeable, reputable breeder she is today, how dare you tear that down with your circus antics. She is the most caring and accommodating breeder I have ever met. I find it disgusting to have one person, whose intentions I seriously question, drive such a slanderous crusade against a wonderful person who just wants to spread the love of this wonderful breed. I find it incredibly sad that her pups are left in your hands and are possibly being mistreated. You should not have the privilege to care for these puppies...& if your soooo unhappy give them back, get your money back. I can count at least 14 people who spoke above me that would be happy to care for your puppies and give them a good home with HAPPY owners and HAPPY homes. Shame on you Lady.
I have only experienced a very caring and gentle breeder. We purchased one puppy for my granddaughter and he is the sweetest and gentle and happy little one name Simon. we have had him to the vet and we have had no problems. That has been approx 3 yrs ago now my other daughter has gotten another male from Lauren and I can only rave and say what a wonderful and honest person she is.
I can only say that everyone I know that has had any dealings with Lauren she has worked with them and helped if we needed anything. If you are so unhappy with the little ones how are you actually treating them? I believe Lauren would work with you if there
has been a problem which actually sounds a little crazy to me. Hats off the Lauren and her little puppies.
I am sorry the above note was actually mine !

I am a breeder friend of Lauren's. I have known Lauren know for several years now. She is a very caring and loving person who loves her dogs and puppies very much! There is nothing she wouldn't do for them. She spares no expense giving them the proper care that they deserve. I know she keeps them up to date on their shots, de worming, feeds them good quality food, and takes them to the Vet when needed. She takes pride and care in her breeding program and it definitely shows! I do recommend Lauren to Customers when I don't have what they are looking for.
If breeders didnt exists, animal shelters wouldn't be so overcrowded. So caring and loving my a$$.
Newyork that is just part of the problem. Neglecting to have your animal fixed, irresponsible owners that do not socialize their animals or dumping them off their animals off in a parking lot. Pet stores that sell mainly puppy/kitten mills, and not properly containing intact pets, so they can become or make another animal pregnant. I used to feel the way you do, but some people want a certain breed, and for ethical breeders, they can provide healthy animals. It is unethical breeders, that abuse their animals by making their mothers breed over and over, not provide veterinary care for their animals, and making them live in despicable conditions. I worked at a high kill shelter, I am aware of how many aware how many animals are killed because of stupid people. I have several pound kitties, abandoned cat's, and I have fostered many kittens from the pound I worked at. One beautiful kitten, was just because she was to beautiful, and I did not have the heart to have the vet tech euthanize her. She is now living with my brother and his family. But my opinion changed after my experiencing a ethical breeder. I wanted a Bengal cat and you rarely find them in shelters. I only found a couple of half Bengal cat's, like one time. I found a ethical breeder and have a beautiful energetic Bengal who has enriched my and my family lives. There are horrible breeders, that is why you check out and visit the cattery or kennels you are getting your animal from. Also, most ethical breeders do not sell their animals pet stores, most want to have some type of interaction with potential adopters. You want to make a difference? Volunteer at a high kill shelter and help facility adoptions. Help educate people the importance of spay and neutered is important.
I tried Adopting a little boy from this breeder and she blew off my questions. She was condescending to my questions about the puppies health and temperament. She said they were to young to see a vet and they had no personality. Most responsible breeders take their puppies see a vet within 48 hours of birth. She refused to plan ahead a visit for me to go see the puppies stating they were to young now. Which, I knew. But I wished to know days I could drop on by without a tight schedule to make sure the puppy grew up in clean environment.
Ps. If you do research some breeders have even known to hide their unhygienic areas by scheduling exact visit times. This is why I like breeders with open door policies most of the week days so any interested buyer can drop in for a surprise visit. Breeders should answer every question the buyer has, give akc papers and pedigree on the parents, should have atleast one of the parents on the property. get to know your breeder and do A lot of research.
Remember : AKC papers don't mean the breeder has good healthy breeding habits and kennels. The akc Has 9 inspectors that inspect ALL their breeders. Does that seem enough for a nationwide club? There has been incidents where AKC breeders have knowingly sold to puppy mills or have been running kennels in similar conditions. Don't worry about papers worry about health, temperament, conformation.
One thing is absolutely for sure, you do not know Lauren Buglio. She was not being condescending toward you, she was being honest with you. Newborn pups have not developed a personality yet and she is very protective of them which to me is what a good breeder should do. Over the years our family has purchased 4 pups from Lauren and are about to purchase another one. WHY? Because she breeds Beautiful, happy, healthy dogs with great personalities that all come with their papers and proper vaccinations. And yes, we still have to make appointments to visit her, she also works for a living like the rest of us do. I have never taken it as a personal affront to me because i have to make an appointment and I can tell you we have met all the Dogs and have seen their living quarters and they are all happy and very healthy. If you visit Polkadox Dachshunds Face book page you will see how much she loves her dogs and how much people who have purchased pups from her love their dogs. You definitely have the wrong perception of Lauren and to me it seems wrong to write a negative comment about a breeder without even meeting them or visiting their establishment.
I have had the privilege of owning 3 doxies from Lauren for the past 5 years now and Lauren has always been honest, helpful, professional and extremely kind to work with. I have highly recommended her to friends and family and she is an excellent breeder with high quality, gorgeous dachshunds and I will be back for another one soon.
