I subscribed to popular mechanics for one year. They sent me an email to renew subscription. I didn't and now they are billing me for what? There is no phone number to contact them. No email address nothing in the way to dispute or contact anyone! It all seems shady to me. Who is running this company? I would sure like to get my hands on them!

I agree, they sent me a bill for 19.99 for another years subscription. ... said it was due immediately.
I have never paid that much, or agreed to pay that much.

I have always signed up at the 12.00 a year rate..guess it's time to let this one expire. Too bad, I've had a sub for over 10 years...oh well, if they want to treat me this way, to hell with em!

Had the same problem with Readers Digest, and got sick and tired of their shady billing practices.

Totally agree. this is a copy of an email I sent to this collections agency about their tactics.
Dear Sir(s):

Some time ago I received in the mail a sample (ONE sample) of this magazine, which I never ordered, and then I received a bill in the mail. I tried to contact this company to let them know I didn't ordered their magazine but I was not able to find a phone number or an email address to contact them about this issue and their bill did not provide one either, so I took their bill and wrote "CANCEL, NEVER ORDERED, " and sent it to them, and I thought this was the end of it.

Now you mail me this collection notice trying to force me to pay for something I did not order, do not want and never received (as I said, someone sent me a one sample issue)? I have been unemployed for over a year, do you think I would waste the little money I can gather in this innocuous item?

I formally ask you to please cease and desist on this collection or I will be forced to denounce you and this organization to the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Protection Agency. You cannot ruin my perfect credit for something that I never, ever ordered; you cannot force me to buy something I do not have use for.

I also know that you, "Sunrise Credit Services, " are familiar with this approach by the Hearst Publications. I Googled you and this publication and found that there are several people who have complaint about similar problems with the two of you. Please see the web site that i have copied to this email: Hearst Publications Popular Mechanics — coercive subscription tactics.

Please feel free to call me at the below number so that we can resolve this problem. Thank you.

I do agree but they just took $26.00 out of my Bank account. The bank said it was a renewal type billing that i never said I wanted. I haven't received a Mag at all and they say they know nothing about it. I told them they should check to see if they have been hacked. For those who need it I finally found where to cancel a subscription on their web site--

I have tried typing in every way I can think of and cannot research
this article. I had saved the article on page 95 about the Native
American article. A friend spilled coffee and ruined it. I wanted to
recopy it and cannot believe it is this difficult.
Please tell me how I may do this. Thank You
