Scam
I went to Doncosa Images on 2/24/09 for a "free" consultation. Mr. James Costa spent approximately 20 mins. with me. At that time I signed a contract and applied for financing. On the very next morning (less than 24 hours later) I called the salon to cancel the contract and the financing. I was told that I would need to call the billing department. I called the billing dept. and told them that I wanted to cancel the contract and service. I then called the financing company and told them that I wanted to cancel the financing. I was informed by the salon that no products had been ordered for me and by the financing dept. that the financing had not yet been processed. I was told that I could cancel my contract by Trish in the billing dept. after she checked with a supervisor (she stated that they were making an exception for me) and was told by Trish that I did not need to send anything in writing but then a week later Doncosa Salon resubmitted my loan application to the financing company and is charging me $4, 000.00. They will not send me a itemized bill as requested and I was told that they have instructed their billing department not to take my phone calls. If their charges for $4, 000.00 are legitimate than there should be no problem sending an itemized bill. They have had their legal counsel send me letters threatening me with slander because I have posted negative reviews on the company on complaint boards. Everything I have stated here is 100% accurate and is not slander. My intent for writing a negative review is not to harm this company's reputation. It is merely to state my dissatisfaction with this company and with their customer service. Their claim that the $4, 000 is being charged for hair for my order in my opinion is inaccurate since I was told that at the time I cancelled my appointment and my contract no products had been ordered, so I have to then assume that the $4, 000.00 is for the 20 minute consultation that I had with Mr. James Costa which was advertised as free. If anything was ordered for me it was done so after I cancelled my appointment and my specific instructions not to order anything for my account and therefore should not be my responsibility. (If hair was ordered for my account than where is this hair? Is it on another client's head now? Have you resold it? Because I have never seen it. If so why are you still charging me $4, 000.00?) My complaint with this company is also that they resubmitted my financing application after I had instructed them and the financing company to cancel it. I have contacted the state attorney's office because of this. I want a full refund of my $4, 000.00. As far as the first amendment is concerned, I am within my rights to post a negative complaint on this company. It is not slander.
Hair
Doncosa is Amazing For years I wore scarves everyday to cover the damage I did to myself from braids, weaves and relaxers. Last year I stumbled on Doncosa and was skeptical A few months later i got my hair puit on i could not be happier i finally have hair i have always wanted, and can even wear my pontail. Dont listen to the haters, it really works! By the way, to the girl who keeps going on and on on this thing...why didnt you just get the hair? Why did you back out? Did you even get the hair put on?

How long have you had it? Once you have it, you can't remove it. It weakens your own hair.
Did they patch test you first? Did they have you sign a binding contract first?
Have you had it removed for any type of maintenance? Check out your hairline. Is it thinning now more than ever? they are moving the hair up as they say due to too much pressure on the scalp.
When they removed mine, they did it with a pair of scissors and I lost 75% of my hair including the hairline hairloss. Good luck.
Doncosa has changed my life. It is awesome!-
amendment to previous post
Because the Doncosa Image Salon had their legal counsel threaten me with slander for giving their salon negative reviews I tried to edit my previous posts but was unable to on some websites so I would like people to disregard any and all previous post and allow me to be very specific on my grievances with this company. After my initial consultation, which was supposed to be free of charge, I contracted with the company for hair extentions and applied for financing. Less than 24 hrs. later I called to cancel contract and financing both with salon and Chase Bank. At this time my loan application had not been processed and no services had been performed neither were there any products ordered for my process. Initially Trish at Doncosa and the loan department at Chase both told me I could cancel, then a week later against my wishes and without my knowledge, Doncosa Salon resubmitted my loan application. They are charging me $4, 000.00 without having given any services or products. The owner James will not return my phone calls or email. I am disputing the charges with Chase Bank, I have filed a complaint with the BBB and I would like Doncosa to know that I am within my Constitutional rights to post negative feedback and will not be bullied. I am posting this review so that potential customers of Doncosa Salon can make informed decisions. If you do not want negative feed back then you should have treated me fairly or stop advertising on websites that invite customer reviews.

Sounds like an awful salon ... the fact that they refuse to cancel paperwork for services not even started says that they are unethical and corrupt.
Worse still, is that if they have to resort to this kind of manipulative creepy “ bait and rob” practise, they are probably terrible stylists.
Really great salons have WAITING LISTS for their stylists !
This place sounds like it should be brought to
The attention of the ATTORNEY GENERAL !
Good luck ladies
same thing happened to me, they stole 4.200 dollars from me for services I never received. I think chase health is on it, meaning part of the scam. how the keep paying doncosa images for services never rendered is un excusable. I went to see them on a Friday, and decided that same Friday night to cancel but they were already closed, so on Saturday I sent them a fax to cancel, I spoke to 3-4 people in chase health all of them told me I was just pre approved for the 4200 hundred, that I will not be charge, 2-3 days later chase health paid doncosa images 4, 200 because they told the bank that I took the hair, its because I didn't like it, that is why I wanted my money back. this happened a while ago, but there's not a day goes by I do not think about what they did to me, may god deal with them.
I was actually a client for one year Stacy at the Manhattan office and Doncosa ruin my hair with your perm that was called a texturizer. My hair became limp and thin after going in with thick hair. My hair is opened underneath the net and you return every month for tightening which costs $90.00 hoping it it will not lossen which it did after a week. I wise up and used the hair I paid for to weave and strengthen my hair again. Don't listen to Stacy she is related to James. They are rip offs and will ruin your hair.
Thank you. I will look into that.
take any complain to the new they will make sure this company take your money. abcnew channel 7 or toher they will help you big publicity that people watch.
goodluck
This message is for any future prospective client who will do their research, as one should, when looking for a hair replacement company. As with any product or company, one cannot satisfy everybody all the time. This would be virtually impossible. However, Doncosa does try to do its best to produce what it promises, as well as address clients’ needs as they arise.
To claim that the Microdot™ Process or any other hair replacement method for that matter will cause damage is hard to identify because the people who come to our establishment have a pre-existing problem that may be on-going (progressive) or genetic. Most of the dissatisfied clients at Doncosa Images are not really clients at all. They are people who joined our program and placed a deposit for the ordering of the hair but then decided to cancel their application appointment. Take for instance the message from Doncosa vs. First Amendment, which happens to be the same person also known as Phoenix, Jane Doe and Iris. This woman came in for our free consultation and after seeing what we had to offer, she decided to join our program. She chose one of our financing programs to pay for the Microdot Process. She would not have to pay any interest and any money down for two years. She then decided she did not want to have her hair application. So Doncosa gave her back 50% of her money, as per their agreement. The deposit was retained for the production of the hair, which was acknowledged by her on her order form.
Everyone can have a personal opinion as well as enjoy freedom of speech, but when someone states lies and not the facts and does it in such a way as to hurt that individual or entity, it indeed constitutes slander.
James Costa is the inventor of the Microdot Process. He welcomes anyone into his consultations so the person can judge for themselves if this process is the best solution for their hair problem. It is a free consultation that is very informative not only on the Microdot method of attachment but also on how to keep hair healthy and strong. If you join our program and then decide to cancel the application for any reason you will always get 50% of your money back as per our agreement with you.
We welcome your interest and wish to share the opportunity to show you how the Microdot Process works on giving you the hair of your dreams.

I hope that they never cut off anyone's hair again as they did to mine!
Insanity and thousands of dollars later!
It will take years to get back the hair I once had.
Watch out and let's band together to take them off the market.
Isn't it interesting that Stacey does not use the Microdot process? Hmm, big red flag.

I just want to let you know that I have been a client at Don Cosa for a little over a year by now and I have to say that the hair that I purchased has been the best quality I have seen and I have been wearing hair pretty much all my life. The hair is well worth the money. It isn't cheap for a reason. I cannot complain. I am sorry that you had a bad experience, but I have felt nothing but welcomed there. Their customer service is great and I am sorry that you feel different.
