I bought a ruby with Global in an attempt to enter into an investment relationship with them. Initially there was great contact and everything was good. We discussed the economy and other investments and months later they sold my Ruby at a small profit and I reinvested into a much higher priced emerald. A year later I contacted my sales rep and let him know that I wanted to sell the item and was told that he could not help me and I would have to speak with another sales department. I spoke with him and let him know that I wanted my gem sold. For 16 months now I have not heard from them. When I call it usually takes a few call before I can speak with someone and they have never returned a call when I leave messages. So far they have not followed through on their end. They let me know 14 months ago that they valued the item at $16125 but so far have not made any attempt to sell it.
Well, it is 28 months later and they rarely contact me and have made no progress in selling the emerald. When I call to get an update, some times I have to call four or five times before anyone calls me back. When they call back there is always the same bs about the market changing to other markets and they are trying. They say that they will sell it and will get back to me, but here we are and they have no updates and no contact unless I initiate it. I would recommend that you use a reputable investment firm if you are looking to get into this market as Global Royalties is not interested in you after they can no longer up sell you.
Global Royalties has since contacted me and have stated that they will be more diligent in communicating in the future and will resolve this issue in a timely fashion.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Do not trust
In his post defending scam allegations on the [redacted], Mr. Brendan Hall, owner of Global Royalties, claims that his company has no consumer complaints, I guess he has not seen this site and several others which show numerous complaints against Global Royalties.
He writes: “Global Royalties Ltd. is a well respected firm with no consumer complaints. I would welcome any concerned consumers to contact me to discuss this matter further.” As I certainly feel that I have been scammed by Global Royalties, I tried to contact Mr. Hall to discuss my concerns with him, he did not take my call, he did not return my call, he is obviously not a man of his word. Do not trust Global Royalties !
I have invested many items with global royalties back 10 years ago, keep calling them and to no satisfaction can I get my monies back total investment at that time was $100, 000.00 I was verbally told my investment would turn to 5 times in five years time ya well not a penny so far.

Be wise.
I have invested in gems for many years with different organizations much like Global Royalties. Over the years I have found that gems are a good investment if you work with companies that have experience and a track record. Gem investments are not for everyone. If you are a person that favors quick liquidity, gems are not for you. I have taken gems to get appraised and I have gotten so many different values it frustrated me. But when I sold my gems I made money. I bought an emerald from a customers of Global Royalties that wasn't happy with the company. He sold it to me for $5000 and I sold it for $12000. Not my fault he didn't know what he had. As I said before--all investment have their risk and gems are no exception.

I find it interesting that people complain about a company only when they get into a money crunch. Anyone knows that any investment endeavor has risk. So to buy a gem or anything else to make money and think that there's no risk is simply asinine.
I disagree totally that that isn't true. Anything can be sold if you can find a buyer. And it depends on how much money you are trying to sell the gem for. Whenever you take a gem to anyone you have to understand that most jewelers aren't going to pay you retail for it. They are going to under value so they can make the profit if you sell it for less. And to have a gem accurately appraised it has to be taken out of the case. I'm not defending a company, I'm speaking about gem buying as a whole. I've made good money investing in quality gems from Global and other companies that sell them. As I would tell anyone, somethings are not for everybody.
The thing is that Global Royalties sold this as a no risk investment, I was told that the gems are of exceptional value and could be sold any day of the week ! Simply not true !
Can't get my money back
Almost three years ago i purchased some gems from this company. I have some concerns about the above noted company Global Royalties of Ontario also known as GR Gems. It would APPEAR that they are in the business of selling gems to clients, RATHER than investing gems for 6 months to a year for a tidy profit as they claim. I have contacted them countless times requesting to sell, they tell me they are going to send them to auction for me and it never happens. Either i have slipped through the cracks or they are in the business of DECEPTION for their own gain. I would like to retract my above complaint against global royalties. I recently spoke to them and they are taking care of things for me.
I bought 2 diamonds in January from this company, I called them in the summer 2014 to sell them back and they say call back in Winter because things are slow right now. I called back Nov 10 2014 and the company seems to have gone out of biz.
DO not buy diamonds from anyone as an investment! Believe me!
Actually Global Royalties did end up selling our Ruby just recently and we did make a profit on it. It is a business that is obviously just not for us but may be the right fit for others willing to invest more long term.

A quick search on Google turned up israel-diamonds dot com
One of many sites that seems to have a saturated supply of rubies and other precious gems. All of which are listed at a discount.
What makes you think you will buy a stone that others will be lining up to purchase? One that you most likely never get possession of.
Face it the world is full of gems, stones and salespeople. There will be nothing special about yours. Except the cash you wasted to obtain it.
Save your money.

I too am in the very same situation. We purchased a Ruby 2 yrs ago and were told that it would be sold within 6mths. It is still NOT sold and I have been given every excuse; economy, slow time of year, etc. I am sick and tired of calling them and even had their sales guy tell me, "... relax, it's only money"! Well yes, that it may but it is MY money and we want it back.
Wont return my money
Sold me some gems, 2 years ago. Just want to cash them in and get my money back. They tell me that yes, we will sell right away and get you your money back and it never happens. Anyway, just letting people know that I will continue to advertise that they are in the business of selling in their interest, not investing on your behalf. Be aware. Do not buy from Global Royalties in Ontario. If you have any questions or concerns or experiences please feel free to call me at [protected].
I would like to retract my complaint above. Global Royalties called and explained everything and has been very accomodating.
