scam dating service
Matchmaker International is an evil company. They will mislead you and even lie to you when they answer your questions to make you feel comfortable and confident enough to enter a contract with them. They do not care about their members. Their counsellors are worthless ### that send out referrals to clients, already knowing that the date will be an awkward...

I entered the Knoxville storefront in April of 2013 to inquire about the services offered by Matchmaker Intl. I was given a sales pitch by the owner, Mr. Hollifield, that the company has thousands of members at hand with whom they could easily match me. I was asked numerous questions regarding my ideal suitable match. I was then offered a Membership Fee of $750 which was explained to be a significantly discounted price and would be offered only if I paid that day and that I was to keep the price I was offered strictly confidential when meeting other members. Mr. Holifield offered a contract for signing which he explained to be strictly a formality, that they are backed by good business practice, run a Christian business and would have no trouble matching me with other members. Upon signing, I was to receive my first match by mail within a few weeks' time and subsequent referrals within 3 to 4 weeks. Over a period of 8 months, I received 3 referrals, all completely unsuitable and even going against qualities that I had specifically stated in the initial interview were unacceptable to me when asked by Mr. Hollifield. One match even told me that Mr. Holifield had called him and told him he would set him up with me if he would agree to pay the upgrade fee of $500 (but he was instructed not to tell me, of course).
In September of 2013, I began an active campaign of trying to reach Matchmakers Intl by placing numerous phone calls, leaving messages and even stopping by the office I had originally visited. Not once was my call answered during regular business hours and the numerous voicemail messages I had made typically received no response. My complaints with this business are (1) the service for which Matchmaker Intl received payment by me was never provided, (2) the contract they offer for signature is completely inequitable as written and the signature is coerced by offering a one time only bargain payment and (3) that this business is operating a scam as they do not seem to actually have the referrals they claim and they offer no or very little availability to their customers. I'm actually not assured that they are still conducting business at all.
I have filed my complaint with Consumer Affairs and the BBB and Holifield's response is always that they stand by their contract, which is completely meaningless. BBB has been paid their fee by Matchmakers of course so they are going to take no action and posted my complaint along with 6 others as resolved although I certainly have had no resolution. I would love to know how to initiate a class action suit if anyone is interested in joining or thinks it is worthwhile.
left with clients money
This dating agency closed their business without notifying clients. I had paid my money for unlimited dating mates. They left the business without honor the contract. I call them in february 2012 and their phone was disconnected and I was told by a past member that they closed the business with clients money. They left no forward information or new contact information.

matchmaker doesnt know what there doing
I became a member of Matchmaker International in March 2010. I asked for men that were at least 6’0 tall. Three of the 12 men I was introduced to were under 6’0 feet, one was even 5’10”, not even close. I’m 5’4” and like to wear heels, and love tall men. Also I explained to them that all the men in my family were taller and a man under 6’0 tall would not fit in. They ignored my requests saying the men were good matches, and the average man is 5’8” and all the men were taller than me. Clearly they don’t care or listen to what the client wants. Still single and out my money.

As a former employee, let me assure anybody; this service is a joke and a scam. The employees are phony and the reply above talking positive about the service obviously is an employee trying to save the company’s reputation by falsifying themselves as a happy member lol. Please don't be fooled. This company is a rip off. I say this because I was an employee and I know exactly how the company is ran. The owner Nancy Schollhammer is a greedy business owner expecting her employees to take advantage of people that have low self-esteem and make them feel like they could help them. Let me assure you, they are all liars and I am highly ashamed of my own self for working there for many years and stooping to their level to earn a few bucks by ripping off the desperate people that came in looking for hope that everyone in the office knew they wouldn't be successful in finding love. Sad. The company in fact sent me out to meet a man on a date even, to silence him from his repeated dissatisfied phone calls about what they have been matching him up with. I am a married women that they sent out on a date with another man, and told me to lie about my age, my career, my marital status, and other areas about me. They falsified the referral form they sent to him about my information, to make me out to be a legit single, younger woman. They also told him I had no kids...I in fact do have children. The purpose was to take one for the team as they put it, and to shut him up for a while (until he met his next match). I am sorry for my part in this so called service. And I have great guilt over the members we have all scammed and lied to, just to get them to pay up and enroll. We will all stand in front of our mighty God one day and answer for what we've done to these poor people. I can only ask for forgiveness for being part of all of that, shame on me, and shame on them (MatchMaker International). They know what they are doing.
You sound kinda shallow...Sorry to be direct but I am 5 ft 10 and have so much to offer a nice lady. Sounds like you just are too short. And why would you ever compare your other half to your family members. Gee I am very handsome, educated, well groomed. Your idea of a mate should be much more based on just height. Best of luck to you. Something tells me your probably still single.
fraud
You people are so wrong for jumping on these poor people who got scammed. Don Dare, a reporter for WATE news did a story on a widow who used MMI's services and they had sent her a man who had quite a lenghty arrest record. Here is the story if you don't believe it http://www.wate.com/global/story.asp?s=8672886. THIS IS A SCAM! And I don't care what church you say you belong to, or how wonderful a christian you are, for all we know Mr. Hollifield has his employees on here slamming these poor customers I call victims!

this is a total rip off.
This place is a total rip off, I paid them several thousand dollars to provide with some introductions to women who I could potentially have a relationship with or get married to. When I went into their offices they told me they have many, many women in my city who match my criteria--WRONG. When I paid the money, there was literally no one that was looking for someone like me, I did not even get to go on one single date! Not one! When I tried to call them, they don't pick up their phones or pretend like they are too busy to talk to you. working with them was NOT fun. Please spare yourself the hassle.
Recently I have been working with a matchmaker named Nicole Westwood, she and her staff have renewed my interest in meeting someone through a matchmaker. You can visit her website a Nicolewestwood.com

poor matches to none
I was contacted by them through the internet, then invited to come to the office for an interview. They found out that I was lonley and zeroed in on my lonlieness. The girl that interview me gave me her card, and I left. The next day I got a call saying that they were running a special and that I could join for considerably less than quotd the day before. i knew they were putting me on, but wanted to join so took adavntage of the lower price. Since then I have had nothing but disappointment and frustration. They are a big joke and all you ever get for your money are promises!

outright stealing
On a holiday weekend, I got a call from Matchmaker. As a single person, I was feeling down, and they convinced me to come to their office to "visit'. During my visit, I was pressured to join, assured that the services were beyond anything I had seen on the Internet. They specifically addressed Match.com and eHarmony. In a dim office, the new 'Owner" a nice lady who affected a Scottish accent at times, pressured me to sign a contract. As I was leaving, she presented me with a possible dating scenario. The man she offered was a meterologist who I had already been corresponding with on Match. She said that she would check it out and get back with me- (his match.com profile must have been done before he joined Matchmaker). The next evening, I got a call from my credit card company investigating the charge. I immediately called to cancel, as I do not want to be associated with a company that needs investigation. I was assured by the owner, I think her name was Andrea, that all of my money would be returned, as no work had been done.
It has been a month, and they finally gave back $900 of $2, 400. The refund only came after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It looks like these folks will get to keep $1, 600. While they are thieves and liars, making up terrible stories about me, I have to take some of the blame. I visited them at a vulnerable time, and allowed myself to be pressured into something totally out of character for me. BEWARE- Matchmaker's contracts are very tricky, and they do not honor what they say. It appears from this site that I am not the first person they have taken advantage of in the Mobil office, and probably won't be the last.

I have worked for Matchmaker Intl. and it is a total and complete scam. They prey on people at weak moments and make them feel that they will be there for them, however once the credit card runs, check is written, etc., you are in and they stop "being there". SAVE YOUR MONEY & DIGNITY!

where are the honest people?
Complaint Rating:
I have had my share of meeting people that have lied, and even stole from me. Are there any good places left to meet someone in this country? I work hard and have a lot to offer someone and don't have a lot of baggage please tell me where to meet good, honest people...
matchmaker international of mobile is not a scam
It recently came to my attention that some complaints about matchmaker international are not true. I saw where an individual made a complaint stating that this company is a scam. I happen to have personal experience with this company. I have been a member for over a year now and I requested to be put on hold (not receive any more matches) about six months ago because I believe I found the person I want to spend my life with. Matchmaker International is under new ownership so any complaints prior to the new owner should not be held against them. I found out about the camplaint because I recommended my girlfriend to go talk with them. After she investigated them and saw that complaint stating it was a scam, she declined my recommendation, and the chance to meet some very intellectual individuals. The point of my complaint was to let people know that I was successful through MatchMaker Internation of MOBILE. Not everything you read is always true. Shouting out "its a scam" can and will ruin a businesses reputation. In which case my friend missed out on a great opportunity to meet new and exciting people. Nonetheless, I found the love of my life through MatchMaker International of MOBILE, and people need to know it's worth every penny to find that kind of love.

I have FINALLY found a way to sue MMI and get around their sneaky arbitration clause! Contact me here to get ALL your $$$ back from Matchmaker or Together.
I would like to file a suit, I have discovered they sell their "packages" based on income and that is why they have you sign that you won't tell what you paid. Sure some people meet the right one- it's all about odds, they set you up with others in your geographic location, sell you on hope and promises and once in awhile there is a lucky match, just like if you did it for free online. I for one want my $2, 000.00 back and I know many have paid more!
Matchmaker intl. is a scam people! any feedback on here defending them is written by an employee that the owner lou paravate threatens them to write. none of their clients would get on here and say anything good because they have all been scammed and are pretty pissed that they cannot get any of their money back. I was employed with mmi. the things they do are low to get people's money. stay away from this scam!
I think this person knows what they are talking about because it is a scam, they charge way to much and the people there are very weird.
Matchmaker International is a SCAM, I have a friend who personally worked there and she told me how she gets people to sign up for the dating service, anyone who says they are not a scam is a liar. My friend told me how they personally get your name and everything they do, so do not go with this company. It is not worth your money to do this...
i am tired of online dating

sorry you had the bad experience with those women wanting money, are you still using there online site? in response to your comments below.
matchmaker stole money from me, i am interested in a class action lawsuit, or some form of justice. the deal clearly stated:
Subscription Plan: 1 month for $34.95 USD
so you think, "ok i will try a month, its only 34.95", and then when the month was over they took another 34.95 from my bank account without notifying me, there was no authorization, no notification. i wouldnt have even known if i hadnt had been browsing my bank account online.
i am attaching a screen shot of what the page looks like where you pay. i dont know if there is a trick using fine print somewhere, it shouldnt matter whether there is any fine print anywhere because using fine print to trick people and make money by tricking people is a crime. they are pigs making money from unsuspecting people.
not to go off the subject but yes i also received emails from a girl who first claimed to be in Ohio, but she gave me turned out to be a number from nigeria. they use the Ohio claim because the ohio area code happens to be the same as the first 3 numbers of the international code for nigeria.
(edit) i just tried to upload the screenshot and it sent me an error message "document not found."
i personally would like to politely say that you my friend are full of it. You are just one of those typical employees pretending to be a customer so you can get money and keep your job. Hey don't feel bad Melissa did the same thing when she worked in Mobile. Yes, MMI is a scam and yes Lou Paravate is the biggest scammer I would not recommend anyone go to MMI. You are better off with myspace at least it is free and not 8, 000 and you can just block someone when you are being harrassed and did I mention the times they run out of people and swear they have so many at your consultation... seriously people you are better off with myspace or facebook at least you will know the truth a head of time
dating service
About four years ago i became a client of matchmaker international. What a joke. They gave me two referrals to women that had no goal or ambition. They had the personality of a slug and had more baggage then a trash truck can carry. Now come to find out they went out of business and did not tell me. Plus I am now out of $3000.00 and still no dates from them. Not like I really want them.
Yes they DO background checks. A PI that they hire does the checks, but more importantly they do credit checks and this is to see how much money is on your credit cards so they know how much they can get from you. This is a full blown scam. I do not care what office or who owns the office they ALL run the exact same way!
Jason Breaky, residing in Dallas, TX, was found guilty and put on probation on 11/4/09 for a period of nine (9) months for charges associated with his arrest in December 2008. Jason was arrested in December for charges including a) possession of marijuana, b) unlawful concealment of a handgun, and c) resisting arrest. Jason plead guilty to the charge of Resisting Arrest and has been on bond for the remaining charges until his case was heard this past week on 11/4/09, after rescheduling his case nine times.

MatchMaker International (Kansas City Office) does a back ground check and has never over looked someone with multiple DUI unless they were over 15 years old. Nor are there any felons. I would know I do the back ground checks personally and have for 10 years. Great Expectations (in KC) has had the problem and was mentioned as a local match making company but that is not MATCHMAKER INTERNATIONAL!
Yep they even had a newstory about what scam artists they were, setting up people with criminals with a record. A friend of mine called up and said he had a bunch of duis to see what they'd say. They said that's ok as long as you can pay to join!

If you are contacted by matchmaker international trying to set up an appointment for you to come to their office for an interview... Hang up!!! This company is a full blown scam. Matchmaker Int'l totally sucks! I see by other posts, a lot of people think so too! First, I was guilted or more like bullied by the owner's son into doing it. Instead of the $2500 I was supposed to pay he gave me a deal of $1500 he said and was going to take it out in monthly payments of $182. I said um hello that would be $2000. He quickly got mad and...
