NCO Financial Services Called 4 times for a collection that has nothing to do with me

NCO has called my cell phone 4 times regarding a collection that has nothing to do with me. Each time I have asked they remove my number, each time they said they would and obviously they have not. I asked for the address to send a letter, after much argument I was given the address, agent, Pratik, refused to give me the name of the President of the company. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor, put on hold for a long time, then told manager could not come to the phone, Pratik would not give me the name of the manager.

NCO Financial Services Robo Calls are incessant and annoying

These people are making incessant robocalls, six to eight times a day. We are not a consumer of their products, have stellar credit and no credit balances. In fact we have no debt at all. They also are close to infringing upon my consulting business name, NCOCompServNets, a non-profit consultancy.

We are of the opinion they are harassing us needlessly. Each day we tremble at the ringing of the the telephone. We had answered once and told them we did not know who they were seeking, had never heard of them, and would like them to desist from further calls. Under the Fourth Amendment we are supposed to be secure in our person, places, and papers. this sure looks like an actionable offense. How does one make them stop?

They called me and said that I had a debt and I needed to contact a certain person. I'm 17 years old. I have no debt. NCO is a scam, and I'm wondering how they got my number in the first place.

I am dealing with an identity theft issue and have a police report and FTC report. I started credit disputes, update contact in credit bureaus. NCO calls every hour i made them aware of issue. They still call, refuse to remove from credit. I have sent them a notarized letter registered mail. If they dont stop within 7 days I am filing FTC complaint as they are in violation of federal laws since police report number given and FTC report id given.

NCO Financial Services My bad experience with them

These people are on the border line of breaking the law! I had a babysitter with my daughter while I went out for a job interview. While I was gone NCO called and asked for me. The babysitter told me that she had my daughter on her hip (screaming) and couldn't hear the lady very well. The lady called her Ms. Smith (me) and she told the lady that she wasn't me that I was on a job interview and wouldn't be home until 3 or so. The lady then said, "Ms. Smith we need to get a payment for this account, you need to send us $38." Again, the babysitter explained the situation. The lady then says... "You just told me you were Ms. Smith! You need to stop pretending." My babysitter told her that she wasn't me and that I was at a job interview and she could call back around 3. It sad when no one in your house is safe from these people.

We know this by the bill we recd in the mail today. My husband called Asset Acceptance LLC and they stated they never sold our account to anyone. They still expect payment. HELP!

I manage my son's finances and they have been taking money out of the account twice a month, I wanted to change this to once a month but they refused to do it. My son works in construction and he isn't always working so I wanted to pay this company once a month. They have overdrawn the checking account twice leading to 4 overdraft charges so I told them that I was going to cancel the automatic withdrawal then the guy I was speaking to said they would turn this over to an attorney and then my son would not be able to have a checking account or be able to but anything on credit for five years. I think this is unfair to not work with me on this issue.

NCO has been pestering me for over a year now for my EX husband's delinquent credit card which he has since made adequate arrangements with the original creditor to not only pay, but to continue to keep and use the card. ( They seem to have to the poor judgment to think "I" am going to help them harass him.) They have since stepped up their game by stamping MY name onto the bill, trying to make it look legit. But I have NEVER had an account with that particular credit company. I pay my own bills, but I neither have the funds or the incentive to pay other people's bills.

Last year NCO Financial bought a 4 1/2-year-old debt. They reported it to Equifax and changed the date on the debt to make it appear that it is current. Instead of listing the entry under "Collection Agency Information, " Equifax is listing it as a Current Account. NCO is keeping the account current by charging me exorbitant interest every month.

Because the original debt is also still listed on my credit report, what I have, in effect, is a duplicate enty. As a result, the total amount of all my my debts has increased by more than $17, 000. Is this legal? I think NCO is doing this to intimidate me to pay them off.

Because the debt is more than 4-years-old, it, the statue of limitations on its collection has expired. So by changing the date, NCO is trying to circumvent the statute of limitations.

Is NCO allowed to charge me interest and thereby make it appear that the debt is current?

This is Typical of this company. If you research them on google. you will see that they "make up" fake bills on their system to look legit and then they buy your contact information from one of the many clearing houses available. They then start calling people demanding payment for bills they have no entitlement too. I have seen where NCO has actually called the family members of people who are dead and have been for many (40+) years telling the families the the person "died owing this bill..." and "You are REQUIRED to pay it or you are going to be sued..." and these SUPPOSED Bills are from companies that were not even in business 40+ years ago...go figure...so you DO have to watch these life sucking crooks. DO NOT give them ANY information and study up on your FDCPA and State Debt/Debtor laws...Something else you can do is tell them that you will deal with the ORIGINAL CREDITOR ONLY! and not them then send them a cease and desist letter. This is what I have done and they still call me in violation of that order but I turn it over to my attorney and the FTC and BBB ( I tape them when they call. I tell them I recorded the conversation AFTER the conversation ends and then IMMEDIATELY hang up). Totally legal as long as you tell them the conversation is recorded, nothing they can do (this of course depends on what state you live in).

I just got a bill from NCO saying they bought a debt from my hydro company, but I have a hydro bill from the past two months that has everything paid in full. NCO's bill did NOT include my name, only my address, and the bill came from an NCO office in a different province (Can). Is it possible that this bill actually has anything to do with me, or is it flat-out fraud? Could this show up on my credit rating?

Also, a few months ago I was approached by a solicitor who said he was from some local hydro company (assumed it was the 'official' one; the guy's act was really convincing and I wasn't suspicious so I wasn't paying close attention to what he said) and he wanted to see my bill, and that he could offer me a flat deal if I wasn't already getting it. I showed him a hydro bill but asked him to come back while I found some other paperwork for him. While he was gone I called the real hydro company and learned it was a scam and was told not to accept, so when he came back I told him I declined his offer. I then learned from a coworker that all they need to do is see a bill and they can hijack the payments and I've been paranoid ever since. Now I'm worried the fake hydro company is connected to NCO. The real hydro bill from December did arrive after that incident with the fake hydro company though.

Not sure if this is the right place to post; anyway, I'd appreciate any input; wish I could be of more help to others.

I had a Capital One Visa account that I got behind on (the balance wasn't over the credit limit at the time, just past due). They placed the account with NCO and I started getting calls 15 times a day, to my work number, my home number, at all hours, even on SUNDAYS. I finally spoke to someone at NCO and they read the usual "this is an attempt to collect a debt, this call may monitored for quality assurance (yeah right), your Capital One account, - we need a payment of $249 right away." I told them I was paying THROUGH the Capital One website, NOT them and that I had just made that payment and to STOP THE FREAKING CALLS.

The ### on the other end apparently did not believe me and said the calls would continue until they received confirmation that the payment was posted.

I think they're all in Bangalore, by the way.

I have had daily messages also from NCO on a "delinquent account" that does not exist. After a long discussion about how I did not owe any money the guy said that I could fax all of my info proving that its paid off to try to resolve it. I got suspicious and asked more questions. It turns out the SSN and date of birth that they had on record were wrong. I do not know for a fact but I suspect these folks are not legit. I sent the info to abuse@capitalone.com for them to investigate as NCO was claiming to to have bought my account from them.

The simplest way to clear this matter up is to contact NCO Financial Services Inc. and inquire as to why they felt this account had been transferred when the creditor claims no prior knowledge of any such transaction. Ensure you record the time and dates of your communications with NCO, including the name and agent number of the individual you spoke to. In order to speak to an individual with any kind of clout regarding this, you are going to have to ask for the supervisor in charge of accounts for this creditor, Asset Acceptance LLC, and inquire of this individual when the account came to be in their possession, and why it is the creditor seemingly has no prior knowledge of such a transaction. In order to back your claim up, you are going to need to have the cheque or money order receipt clearly showing that payment was made to NCO Financial, and in what amount. Offer to fax a copy of the cheque to both NCO Financially, and Asset Acceptance LLC. This should go a long way in clearing the matter up. If, for some strange reason, this fails to achieve that end, you will have to contact your government offices, and ask to speak to the regulator for debt collections. Once put through, you can explain your situation, and offer him/her proof of what you are saying by way of the processed cheque. Unfortunately, if you are unable to get a copy of either the cheque or money order (which always comes with two copies, one for the recipient and one for the debtor) used to pay this debt, it's unlikely you will be able to resolve this matter. However, that said, you should be able to get your hands on a copy of a the cheque through your financial institution. Money orders are also kept on file within the bank or credit union for, I believe, ten years. As such, for a fee, they can and will provide you with the money order receipt if this is how you opted to pay.

I'm sure, once you gather all the evidence, you'll get this matter cleared up in no time. Collection agencies are NOT above the law, and answer to regulating bodies. Providing you made payment, as you state, and can prove such, you'll find yourself with more help than you need in seeking out these regulatory bodies and advising them of your situation .

Good luck!

NCO Financial Services What a sleazy operation!

Several years ago, I purchased a cell phone for my son with cerebral palsy to have in order for me to have constant access to him, and he to me, during his workday in a sheltered workshop for functionally disabled adults. Beginning two or three years ago, he began receiving calls from this company (NCO) regarding an unpaid bill by someone with a different name who apparently had this phone number at one time. My son is unable to answer the phone immediately when he receives a call due to his physical limitations; he must take several minutes to retrieve the phone from a special pocket on his pants, and then, seeing it is not from me, has me listen to the voice mail in the evenings. I have called this company repeatedly over the years, and they invariably apologize and say the problem will be corrected. But, it is all to no avail. The phone is only for emergencies, and, naturally, this causes my son great anxiety when it rings in his work place, and he is unable to immediately retrieve the phone. I have read online the numbers of complaints about this company, and see there is little recourse for an innocent victim like my son except to get a new phone number, at some expense, and hope for the better. What a sleazy operation!

NCO Financial Services Suing over paid bills

My husband received a subpoena today (5/8/07) for a June 1st court date with this company. The ironic part of this is that they are taking him to court for a bill that was PAID back on March the 28th. I have the credit card receipt to prove it! UNBELIEVABLE!

I hop they are prepared for a VERY interesting day when I point out to the judge that this date was PAID IN FULL!

NCO Financial Services Repeatedly calling my cellphone looking for a wrong person

I had bought a new cell phone and got a new number in Dec 2006. Starting from day1 I have been receiving calls from an unknown number where a automated voice speaks, asking me to call back at a [protected].

I came to know this is NCO financial and I promptly called them. They told me they are looking for a person (lets call him "X" ) about a bill he had not paid.

I told them that I am not the person they are looking for and that the number they have in their records must be old and incorrect , so kindly remove the number. Despite that complain, I keep getting calls everyday asking me to call that 877 number.

Later I kept getting calls from "Unknown" number, this time a human voice at the other end. I told them "again" that they are reaching a wrong person and they should remove the number from their list. The person was apologetic and assured me that the number would be removed and they would not call me.

The next day I got a call "again" looking for Mr "X" . When I told them what had happened, I was told that it takes 24-48 hours for the number to get deleted and he apologized. The moment I hung up my phone, I got a call "Again" from an "Unknown" number. I had it, this time I lambasted the person on the other end and he "again" assured me that this will not happen "again".

Well guess what, I got a call from them again, 2 days later. This time I had to be rude and bluntly tell them that they don't understand English and had to teach them a couple of cuss words. Its been a month and the calls haven't stopped. I get more calls from them, than my relatives and friends.

I am fed up, I don't know how and who to approach regarding this issue.

Are Farrell & Seldin junk buyers? Do they represent Capital One Bank or not? Cap. One sent my alleged debt to a Co. called NCO Financial who call me over and over, all day long. Now months and months later, I get a letter from Farrell & Seldin stating that they represent Capital One. I am asking for Verification of Debt. The letter also states that "no attorney with this firm has personally reviewed the particular circumstances of your account." And that they will obtain verification and mail it to me.

NCO financial just called MY BOSS AT HIS HOUSE... OMG! I recently got laid off from my previous and was unemployed for 6 months. I thankfully found another job and have been employed now for 1 year and trying to get my finances back on track. I could possibly get fired because of this. My boss just called and asked if I knew why NCO financial debt collection would be calling him. They even gave him the reference number to my case and my name... I'm in tears right now... How can they do this? Ruin peoples lives? How did they get his number ?

I'm wondering if anyone here knows about the statue of limitations and how some collections agencies, such as the common wealth and others re-start the clock on reporting limitations for people who've they had no contact with?
Last time I checked my report there was an item which was to be removed, according to that report on 4/10/09, and now my report says this account was opened last year. How can they do that if I've had no contact with them?

Hello there, I use to work for NCO for 2 and half years, it is "THE WORST JOB" in the history of the planet, I hate this company with a passion, they screwed me on my pay time and time again, they still owe me money but they found a loop hole in the legal system so they would not have to pay me, they also screwed up a few job opportunities for me. I have never hated a company more in my life and it's your lucky day I stumbled onto your rant. This company has made my life hell for the last 5 years now, even screwing me on my taxes. I would really enjoy helping you sue the "###" out of this company and heres how. The government installed a program called the National Do Not Call Registry or go to https://www.donotcall.gov/ and sign up right away. Wait 31 days after registering and if they call again after the 31 days go directly to the donotcall.gov website and file a complaint. I know with NCO's systems they can't get rid of the number for 90 days, so let the calls accumlate and for each time they call you after the 31 days, you can sue them $1100 per infraction/per call made to your phone. tell me if it works out for you!

If you win a law suit, please tell me, it will make me feel good inside, BRING THOSE ###ERS TO THERE KNEES AND DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT ###ING THEM OVER AS HARD AS POSSIABLE, NCO IS THE KINDA COMPANY THAT WOULD CUT OPEN A BABIES THROAT IF THEY THOUGH IT WOULD MAKE THEM EVEN $1!

NCO Financial Services They continue to call and harass me

NCO Financial Services has been calling me four or five times a month about a school loan that another person with the same name took out.

I confirmed that the social security number was not mine on three different occasions, but they continue to call and harass me. I have been unable to access the BBB anymore, because they are all on line now and the people at this “business” refuse to give out any information about the business or even to give their last names. I was told only that the Company is out of Barbados at Harbour Road in St. Michaels. What can be done about such people who gather more and more info about us, but will not even explain to us what they are calling in regard to or who they are? This “company” needs to be strongly investigated. Is there a way to get this info to someone who can do something about this?

If you owe your bill pay it. Look at the situation in another way. If you were a business, key word business, and persons over 1 million people owed you money and you were paying someone to collect your debt what would you expect them to do. Yes I know we all have our hardships and some companies are willing to assist when possible, but sometimes it's debtors who make persons be rude. Yes the phone calls may be upsetting, but if when they call you shout and be rude and cuss out the people who are doing their job, then do you really expect all of them to just sit there and listen to you without saying a word. And as far as wrong numbers go, you might get a call or two from NCO, then any other person calling y ou for that wrong person, is always going to be NCO for you. My advice when getting a new telephone number from your service provider ask if it belonged to someone previously.

Thanks!

My step-daughter who lives in Alabama (23 yrs old) gave them my telephone # for what reason I'm not sure. Evidently she owes them money. As I explained to these folks (NCO), "What does that have to do with me?" They call and harass me at least 3 or 4 times daily. What can I do to stop these idiots from calling my home and disturbing me?

Dear Ms. Mendivil,

Hello, my name is Attorney Joseph Mullaney. I read with interest your post to a complaint filed on www.ComplaintBoards.com. I have represented consumers against companies that mis-program their computers to call the "wrong person." I have found that the only way these companies change their policies is to be hit in the pocketbook. If you have a residential (non-business) telephone number receiving unlawful telephone calls, you may have a cause of action. Did you know that you may be entitled up to $1000.00 under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 U.S.C. 1692, et seq. and another $1500.00 for each automated (prerecorded or artificial) telephone call under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, 47 U.S.C. 227, et seq.?

If you wish to speak about your matter, please email me. If we agree that professional representation is warranted, I represent consumers without any upfront costs or attorneys fees. Instead, they will be deducted from your recovery and/or awarded by the court against the defendants. I hope to hear from you soon because there are important statute of limitations governing your possible action.

Very truly yours,
Joseph A. Mullaney, III, Esquire

NCO will never leave you alone.

If you do owe money, do NOT pay by credit card over the phone. Make them send you a bill and then pay through registered postal mail. INCLUDE with your payment a notice such as "By accepting this payment you agree to remove any negative marks placed against me on my credit report regarding this debt. If you do not accept, this payment is void."

A month ago I started receiving phone calls on my cell phone from NCO Financial. Someone named Greg Adams had given them my cell number as his business number and then apparently skipped out on a loan.

They were, from the 1st call, rude, and completely unprofessional. The one polite and helpful person I contacted assured me that they would take my name out of the computer and I would not be called again. That lasted two whole days. Their computer would call at 8 am, 1 pm, 8 pm. I informed the individual who called yesterday the I was filing a harassment complaint with the FCC and the Better Business Bureau. I filed the FCC compliant yesterday and haven't received a call last night or today. If they were a reputable company they would hire cautious, professional people. They would also verify telephone numbers through the carrier prior to calling. The logic that the person who skipped out on paying what they owe gave them a valid phone number and is then lying about who they are vs. the person having made up a phone number to begin with escapes me. Do NOT Deal With This Company.

I personally have never dealt with such rude and sarcastic people in my life.I know that i owe a certain amount of money to the collection services there but as i told them many times i will pay when i can as i am on disability from community Services. I even offered to pay $ 5.00 a month and was told that the amount was not enough so the way i see it my account is payed because they refused my offer that i was able to pay. They call my house anywhere from 2 to 3 times a day leaving messages for me to call, my reason for not calling back is everytime i tell them my situation and that i'm disabled they become quite rude so hang up i do not need these people causing me stress and making me feel uncomfortable . when they call the display always says out of area. If my daughter calls me from her work place that also is what comes up on my call display,my point is if an emergency comes up and my daughter calls and i don't answer the phone because i think it is nco i will be holding them responsible if anything happens to a family member if call display shows out of area. I am now in the process of sending them a copy of what i get a month from social services so they will believe me,my family members are also thinking of seeing a lawyer on my behalf and to see if harassment charges can be layed on this company and for causing me undo stress which causes my illnesses to make me sick and mental stress as well.
