Nuance Company has too many problems, so do their programs (Dragon NaturallySpeaking)

First, I have been using NaturallySpeaking for 6 years. Ever since an accident and I became a quadriplegic. I will just give you a simple list of problems with the software and the company:

1. This program does not work anywhere nearly as well as it shows on the commercial. If it was that accurate and work that well, I would have no complaints.
2. It seems like every version of Dragon gets worse and worse. To me the best version that I used is 12.5. Version 13 is not as accurate and just seems to wake up on its own. When you look down on your computer after talking with somebody you have a mumbled mess that you have to clean up. Dragon 14 is even worse than that.
3. Had to upgrade to Dragon 14 because I was running Windows 10 and I bought office 2016. Dragon 14 is the only one that is fully compatible for office 2016. Compatible, that's a joke. I had to spend hours on the line with Dragon Support. They finally gave up and recommended that I called another number and got my money back. Sad very sad!
4. This is really where the company shows how sleazy it is. Most people that use this program are handicapped. When you buy the program it allows it to be installed on 2 computers. That's great but… Say you have a hard drive failure as I had. I put a new hard drive in it and install Dragon. The license number is no good because it's been installed in 2 computers. I call Nuance and explained I had a hard drive failure and basically their response was "too bad so sad". I had to buy the program over again but they would give me a discount. Even Microsoft whose licensing can be very strict will take care of you if you call and explain the situation. Not Nuance!

I don't understand how a company like this stays in business. I also use Nuance PaperPort. This has a known problem and is yet to be fixed. Every now and then you get a message that PaperPort won't work because of compatibility mode. There is a fix on their message board to change the registry and allow the program to run. You fix it and every 5 or 6 months it does it again and you have to fix the registry. Nuance fix this! The last statement I have is the best speaking program out there is Google. My phone just does not miss a single word. It's accuracy is incredible. I wish Google would get into coming out with the program like this. It certainly would put Dragon simply speaking to shame. Come on Google!

I am disabled, and have been using dragon since the first version years ago. it has never been especially good, but the choices are pretty limited.the dictation program for Apple products is no better. When my second iMac failed after 4 years each, I went to a hewlett Packard pavilion. pricey. But I am a writer, as well as disabled, and up a Creek. I like the HP, installed dragon version 15. after a month, it stopped working completely, I called dragon. They told me cheerfully that my HP has 1.7 gH, whereas dragon requires 2 point GH. When I complained that that is not marked on the disk or the package, they said somewhat shamefacedly that it's on the advertising rmaterial. I am furious

According to the pop-up message that appears the first time after it is installed, Nuance DNS 13 is being discontinued as of December 31, 2018 and will not be supported after January 2, 2019. However, Nuance is giving you the "opportunity" to purchase its latest-and-greatest version prior to its release at a "discount."

This has not stopped retailers such as Wal- Mart and Staples (whose business ethics and customer service are best described as a joke ) from marketing a soon-to-be obsolete product, apparently with the full knowledge of the product's impending demise.

Nuance upgrade scam

I had purchased naturally speaking preferred several years ago and also fell for the new and improved upgrade purchases 3 or 4 times. When I purchased the last upgrade to version 10, had it installed and trained I learned it would no longer function with my medical office software. This was never a problem before. Since electronic medical records are becoming almost a necessity Nuance decided adding the word "Medical" makes the same software worth $1500 instead of $200. I could have saved $200 and still had a functional computer transcription solution for my small medical practice if Nuance would have made it clear that the upgrade would impose restrictions on its use. Hello Mavis Bacon, I guess I need to work on my keyboard skills again.

I have paid for an order of equipment from Nuance, and have a receipt dated 7/25/11. I paid to have it sent 2day express. I contacted them on 8/2/11, and they said "we have your order complete and will be shipping UPS one day air.It is now 8/9/11 and still no show.

Dragon software is good. The headset is really cheap and started falling apart almost immediately.

This company shows real genius at insulating themselves from customers. The process is much too cumbersome.

Two years later, I could write exactly the same comment. I bought a version that does not work with the new mac iOS and they want to charge me for software that will work. I have also been overwhelmed with email ads from them on other products. I can not recommend buying anything from them! Also will contact Apple and hopefully they will also not recommend them!

Nuance is just one big upgrade scam. I bought Naturally Speaking at full price and within a week they began incessant emails and telephone calls telling me that I needed to send another $100 for the upgrade. And, from what I can tell, if I fell for that, they would have another major upgrade a few weeks later and demand another $100

I feel like such a sucker for buying their software. As a result of my (and other people's similar) experience with this company, my company has removed it from the list of preferred software and they now advise us to buy something else. I don't normally fall for scams like this. I never answer those emails telling me some Nigerian prince needs my help or letters from fake banks. But I sure fell for this fraud.

Nuance Scam

Watch out for their upgrade scam. I have Preferred Speaking 9 and bought Naturally Speaking 10. The have a $50 upgrade rebate. The box I bought did not have the same sku as the rebate. People had filed the rebate and we being denied. I called the company and they offered no explanation, just the wrong box. Try to find an eligible box and buy that said the rebate department.

Do not expect your rebate from Nuance Naturally Speaking, it is a scam.

***ALERT*** A class action lawsuit should've been filed against this company or should be in the immediate works. Breakdown: 1) purchased the CD in 2015 (worked well for a few years), 2) purchased the online version (worked well for a few months), 3) purchased another CD in 2023 that will not accept the serial number that's clearly on the envelope.

Paid $2.00 for a "No-Wait" Service fee - so I can get my $20 Dollar rebate "sooner" than the 6-8 Month period they originally told me it will take. So for $2 less - they were to send me my rebate in 5-7 working DAYS. Well, it's been over three weeks and so much for the "no-wait". I'm waiting. what a rip-off. Sorry I fell for it.
