Bad service
Unfortunately, I would not recommend Optimum First Mortgage, Fountain Valley, CA for a mortgage. We began the refinance process with them end of June 2010. All requested documents, records and even appraisal were received in their office by the 9th of July. Long story short we heard little to no contact from them through August 19 other than I would call for an update and be told excuses such as the lender was overloaded and there was a question with the appraisal. Over these 6 weeks no one ever requested a verification of employment from either of our employers – this was suspicious as usually this process begins immediately. So August 19th, frustrated at this point I made a call to their office the day before the 45 day rate lock expired and was told the lender said the appraisal came in too high. They did not offer to extend the rate and help work it out. My loan rep Cody offered to see if another lender would be available. Two weeks passed and I never heard back from Cody. Now having lost 2 months’ time, our low interest rate and $365 on a wasted appraisal, I emailed them and ask for a refund of my appraisal fee. My last response from them was this…..
Carmen,
I will have my manager get in contact with you today. Thank you.
Optimum First Mortgage
Unfortunately, something is very suspicious about this whole process.
That all said, we decided to start the process with a local company – we sat down with them on Tuesday August 31. In 3 ½ weeks we have now already signed loan documents and will close early next week. By the way the appraisal came in $25K higher than the first one. Bottom line – find a local mortgage company or bank referred by a local real estate professional or friend. And don’t take a chance on Optimum First Mortgage.
Refinance
I have financed and refinanced homes more than half a dozen times. My experience with Optimum First Mortage was the best. The rates were the best I could find in my online searches and my only worry was that the service might not be up to par with other more expensive options. I can say without question my worry was unfounded as the service with my refiniance this fall was the best I have experienced-ever. Thanks again for the professionalism, responsiveness, and competitiveness of your company and it's offers.

The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Optimum First Mortgage refunded this borrower their appraisal money because we could not complete the loan for them. The issue was the lender would not accept the appraisal due to the lack of sales comparables. Although this is not common it does happen with every lender or broker. Customer service is our top priority, if any potential or existing customers have any issues or concerns please contact upper management. You can reach us by calling [protected]. Carmen, I see that you believe if one person out of 54 treats a client badly, you hold it against all of the agents. :(
That is sad, I have three kids and a wife that I support on my income, I am honest and would never treat anyone in a way that I wouldn't want to be treated. I picked this company because of the integrity of the owner and the people that work here. If you read our reviews on the BBB website you will see hundreds of 5 star positive feedback.
In case you didn't notice, you are the first client to post a complaint on a complaints website about our company. Our biggest pride (until you're comment) has been that we have NO complaints, and now because you had a bad experience with one representative you are trying to change the lives of at least 50 people not including the dependents that rely on the income of those people, by suggesting that people do not give this company a chance.
I am sure you will be glad to hear that Cody no longer works here.
If possible, I hope you would change your comment to reflect a real estate agent and not the entire company. Did you ever try to contact another person at Optimum First besides your loan officer to advise them of the situation?
We are not hourly workers here, we are licensed agents, it is the responsibility of that agent to process your loan. Nobody else would be aware of your situation if you did not tell them.
PS
I do not represent this company, I am just an honest family man trying to support my family to the best of my ability.
