Shield Star Home Warranty Bad experience

Shield Star Home Warranty should not be on your list for home warranty companies. Please steer clear of this company.

(1) We had an issue with a line in our water system leaking. There is NO weekend response. "You must wait until the weekday before we respond" - July 17, 2010.

(2) Called on July 18, 2010, no answer on the phone for 6 tries. Then, when they answered, they said "you must go to the website to file a request. We will then get back to you in 48 hours to respond"...all this, with our water pipes leaking into our basement.

(3) On July 19, 2010, we sent a request for refund to the address listed as "Contact" on their website. Today we received the letter back, unopwened with "Not at this address" and "Please Return to Sender 7/30/10" on the envelope.

(4) On July 20, we sent an email request for a refund. To date, there has been no reply to that email at all.

I am pretty sure that ALL of this adds up to no customer service. Stay away from this company, their pricing is attractive...but they have NO SERVICE.

First time using shield star since coughing up $399.95. The took 5 days to respond, they sent out a plumber who both took $50.00 off me and said good luck getting them to do something more, like actually replace a leaking hot water heater. Dozens of calls and emails go unreturned. All calls got to answering service who's rep confessed she has gotten he share of similar calls as mine.

My built in microwave is broken for 2 weeks.Trying to contact customer service with no success.There is no working phone, e-mails rejected. I assume that this company went out of business. Will make a formal complaint to BBB and Oregon Attorney General. I want to get my $388 back asap. Please stay away from this people, IT IS A GROSS SCAM!

Shield Star Home Warranty Steer far away from this company

I had purchased a home warranty in Dec from this company. Some work was done in February to our satisfaction. We placed another order for warranty service on 4/1. Despite 24 turn around guarantee it took numerous callbacks to finally get service scheduled on 4/16. Upset with the service I cancelled the contract on 5/3/10. I cancelled because they failed in their contract section C #2 with aguarantee of a 24 turn around and mine was 2 WEEKS (with me being proactive!). I was told that, if there were invoices that they paid out that were more than the premiums collected that I would be responsible for them. I was ok with that. I am now getting calls from the subcontractors that Shield Star used demanding payment as NOTHING was ever paid to those subcontractors. Even the work done back in February was NEVER PAID. So, essentially, I PAID OVER $250 FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!I have tried to contact Shield Star and am not able to speak to anyone about the issue. The last time that I called to cancel the contract I was on hold for over 45 minutes. I have since filed formal complaints with the BBB and the Attorney's General for the state of AZ and NJ. STEER FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! IT IS A SCAM!

I have been trying to reach them since 2 weeks now. The calls are not going. I am getting a message "All circuits are busy now, please try agin later". They need to pay back money. I have faxed them the invoice, sent an email. No response.

I have attempted to use this plan and cannot get an answer from the company. You only get an answering service with no return calls or response to emails.

At this point, between the time frame of Sept. 8, 2010 and Sept. 26, 2010, 11 messages to the answering service and 10 emails have been sent requesting service.

Absolutely no response from the company in any way.

I have requested a refund and of course there is no response.*

You end up hiring an outside contractor and pay extra.

I bought a warranty this summer from Shield star, my microwave broke around thanksgiving, I called. For days it was all circuts were busy. I emailed got mailbox full. then found this website and calle the number for the class action, nothing from them either. I finally called my mastercard that i bought the warranty, I actually bought two, one for the house I moved into and one for the house I am trying to sell. My mastercard company is looking into it and I just had to mail ten pages of the contract that was emailed to me when I bought the warranty in July. I also tried the number again, now it has been disconnected. I went on the BBB website and now see as of Nov. they have been shut down. I want my 800 dollars! who do i contact to get that money back? any ideas please email me at ejmv82@hotmail.com or call me at 704/366-9699 thanks Emily

I represent an attorney in Tennessee that handles consumer protection class action cases across the United States for individuals in situations similar to this one.

We have recently been made aware of this company Shield Star Home Warranty and the complaints about account contractual deviations, billing errors, and other issues regarding customer accounts and service. We are investigating the potential to file a consumer class action against this company to bring them before the people and answer for their actions.

Shield Star Home Warranty Have warranty with Shield Star been waiting almost 2 months to have my dish washer fixed

Have warranty with Shield Star been waiting almost 2 months to have my dish washer fixed. Getting run around by company. thy want to give me $200 to buy a new dishwasher, the one thy do not want to fix is a top of the line GE cost new $900. The cost for the part to fix is $330 + labor. I told them just fix my dish washer. The tech that 1st came out to see what was wrong pulled out from doing work for this Co. thy tried to have him reduce his labor cost, but the part on line for a cheaper price. Thy keep telling me that some one will call to set appt to fix. Still wating when I call an speak to a Mr Chase same old story I guess thy hope if thy stall long enought I will take the offer and run like hell. Forget it I not leaving with out a fight. I will file a claim in court to be refunded all my money I paid this company. Also will file a complant wit the AG office for the state of NJ.

I was able to find SHIELD STAR through NY STATE insurance dept and they forced them last month to return my money! CONTACT THE NY STATE INSURANCE DEPT they have Shield Star's info. Google NY State insurance dept
