Smooth Away Total waste of money and time

Bought Smooth Away hair remover. I could have used an old piece of innertube and it would have worked the same. I have always been happy with the merchandise I recieve except in this case. The product doesn't meet with the standards of your other merchandise. It was a total waste of money and time. Don't believe everything you see on TV. It is supposed to remove hair instantly and pain free. Well it doesn't do anything except waste your time and money. This is one product that should be taken of the market and thrown in the trash.

My Aunt bought this and told me how terrible it was. I asked her if I could see it, as I was intrigued at how it was supposed to work in the first place. I burst out laughing when she showed me the sheets of 3M ultra-fine sandpaper that they had sent. Sanding your hair off?!?!? This has got to be one of dumber products I have seen in recent years.

Smooth Away Doesn't Work Well

My mom bought me Smooth Away from CVS. I used it, but it didn't work right. It only worked on certain areas, such as the sides of my lower legs, but not in others, such as my knees. Plus, it takes a really long time to get the hair away. Much more time than it is worth. Not to mention the fact that every time I want to use this product, I have to put a new pad on the surface. It only comes with five pads, so you have to buy more of it very often. This is a waste of money.

I used one at my friends house and it took 10 mins to remove the peach fuzz off my toe and it just plain would NOT remove the hair on my legs. It was a complete rip-off in my opinion; not to mention it left red patches where ever I had used it

This products claim of instant & pain-free hair removal is false. I bought this because I am diabetic, making shaving extremely dangerous. I have limited income but felt it would be worth the money to buy this product to protect against possible cuts from using a razor. This was a big waste of my money & I am ashamed to admit that I was taken advantage of...

Smooth Away Rip off ---DONT BUY IT!!!

I ordered Smooth Away 1/3/09 for my daughter using her $25 gift card she received for Christmas. The invoice came up as $14.99 (two pack) + $6.99 S&H = $21.98 right? wrong! The gift card went through no problem...leaving a balance of $3.02 which she later used for something else. By 1/16/09 the order still has not arrived. I pulled it back up on line and now it shows $14.99 + $13.98 S&H = $28.97 due? So I FINALLY get through on the phone to them (35 min wait) to be told my card was declined. No doubt...it was only a $25 gift card. So, I ask for the rep's supervisor. Carolyn is too incompetent to understand this simple scenario. I tell her we no longer have the gift card. She could re-charge $25 towards the order and then let me pay the difference of $3.97 in another form of payment. She couldn't understand that and flat out refused. Said I would need to provide another credit card...RED FLAGS! She stated there was no one else I could speak with regarding this...oh right...I just reported them to the Better Business Bureau and next I will go to the Food & Drug Admin...PLEASE DONT BOTHER - OTHER SITES SAY THAT SMOOTH AWAY IS MORE PAINFUL THEN SHAVING AND THE HAIR GROWS BACK FASTER...What a rip off! Buyer beware...we will go back to waxing!

This is not what it says, this is sandpaper on plastic. Its is 80grid sandpaper, you stick to the plastic, and then you rub your skin. You don't notice at first but you are rubbing off your skin and NO hair is bieng removed. After a few hours the area that you rubbed is soar kind like a sunburn or 2nd degree burn. This is a terrible product and no one should buy this.

Smooth Away made my skin very irritated and it takes forever to use. I returned it and was only refunded the $14.99 product charge and not the $14.99 ship/handling fee! On top of that, I had to pay $7.00 to send it back. The ship/handling fee is WAY too high for such a small box and the product sucks!

ordered smooth away and paid for fast delivery...still have not seen product...they say they have no information on my order but have billed my bank account $34...I had my bank fax over a request for refund...I was refunded $14.99...still haven't seen any product... time to get the attorney general involved... shame on the TV stations that allow smooth away to air on their station.

I ordered product, which came to $34.97. At the time of order, I was not told shipping charges. They charged me $25.96 shipping and handling. Much overcharged for a small 2 lb. package. It has arrived. I did not open. Am sending it back. And calling for a refund.

The product does not work as described. More importantly...they over charge you for shipping. They actually double shipped to us and charged us over $90. We sent back the first shipment unopened - as an unexcepted delivery through the USPS which is how they shipped it. That is what they told us to do when we saw that they tripple charged us. 2 weeks later, they say they don't have it back. I paid to send the 2nd shipment back, and they say they recieved that one, but they are only crediting us $14.95. So we are still out $75. This is a scam.

I wish I had read this before my aunt ordered this product. She phoned because she had no idea the shipping charges would be so exhorbitant. She just experienced the same nonsense, i.e. she asked to speak with a supervisor and the male customer service person just put her on hold for an extended period of time. When she did not hang up, he came back on and basically told her he wasn't going to transfer her to anyone.

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU 100%. I bought this product from Walgreens and used it on my legs because
I thought it would be a lot easier than having. WRONG! It irritated my legs so bad that I have like a razor burn kind of thing going on but it a ton of little painful bumps all over them. I definitely think they should take this product off the shelf.

Smooth Away Ineffectiveness of Product; Shipping

I ordered Smooth Away for Christmas with an optional order for replacement pads. I called to cancel the replacement pad order and could not get through. I was billed for the replacement pads. I received the Smooth Away order and followed the brief instructions for use to the letter. It did not remove hair at all and caused abrasions on my 11-year old daughters arms and legs. I was billed over $25 dollars for shipping, when it is advertised on the web at 6.99. I called Smooth Away and they would only give me a credit for $5.00. I am now exploring filing a small claims action against them and have contacted the Food and Drug Administration and the California Department of Consumer Affairs.

I was lucky enough to get the product on eBay for a much lower cost, to find out it didn't work at all. Does not remove hair! So do yourself and favor and avoid buying this product. Thank goodness it only cost me $10.50 including shipping to find this out. The infomercial is full of crap!

I too ordered smooth away and was charged a excessive charge of $25.00. I was not told the total amount and have not been able to reach anyone. I am going to call my credit card company to see if there is any further charges I be notified. The product states we can use it on our face but my skin was scratched pretty badly. I would not use this producte on my face. Also for coarser hair it does not work. I am very disappointed that I was charged $65.00.

Smooth Away Rip-off; deceptive advertising, over charging

From a TV advertisement I purchased the product Smooth Away, which was supposed to include the following for $14.99:
1 Large Smooth Away
1 Small Smooth Away
4 Large Smooth Away Replacement Pads
4 Small Smooth Away Replacement Pads

If I ordered that day I would get one free order of all of the above + s&h

When my box arrived the amount they charged my credit card was $57.94. They charged me separately for the Large and the Small Smooth Away. + they charged me $27.96 for the shipping & handling of a small box by Parcel Post weighing less than 1 lb.

They totally misrepresented their advertising, over charged for the shipping and ripped me off in general.

They have not been available by phone, e-mail or online customer service. MAJOR RIP-OFF.

Smooth Away Credit card over charged and nobody answers when I call to resolve issue

I ordered smooth away from getsmoothaway.com and it didn't tell me how much the shipping would be. I then got an email confirming my order for $14.99 with a $13 shipping and handling fee and a 4-6 weeks wait. I immediately called to cancel but nobody answered. In the mean time, I found out that my credit card was charged for over $80. I finally reached someone at smooth away and cancelled my order. They said that I would receive an email confirming the cancelation. Today, I got an email saying that my order has been shipped. I have called all day and no one answers.

I have also been getting telemarketing calls saying that I ordered from one of their partners and offering me suspect deals. It is very frustrating.

My bill was not displayed at time of internet order. What was advertised at $14.99+shipping and handling, turned into $60.93 on my visa card. I called smoothaway to complain and tell them i was going to send the product back to them. They said ok, and they would apply a $10.00 credit to my account, for a future purchase. When I asked about $50.93, smooth away said they wouldn't include that in the refund. I told them my next move was to call visa and see what they could do. My visa rep was named Kevin, he had a strong accent, and I asked where he was located? He said he was in India. I explained the situation to him and he agreed that he could do something about it, and gave me instructions on what to do Thanks to Kevin, in India, Visa rep, you did a nice job and your english was pretty good too.

I tried the small SmoothAway on my chin, and upper lip, and I followed the directions exactly, but I still got burned. It was like having a brush burn, and guess what, it did not remove the hair on my chin. I feel like I wasted my money. Believe me it doesn't work like on TV.

I agree with the comments posted above. It's very rare that the products we order on-line are worth the "so called" special on-line or television price.

Like some of the respondents, I try to find the product at regular stores. This way if there is a problem, we can take the item back and get a refund or at the very least, a store credit. The adage, 'let the buyer beware' is absolutely true. I've learned from my past mistakes and hope that others will learn from our collective mistakes.

I just got off the phone with one of their representatives and the trick is to keep waiting you will get through. I was just about to hang up when someone answered. I told her that i had been waiting for my package since the eigth of january and that we are now entering February and still no package. She then tell me that the item should have arrived already and that she would send out a replacement free of charge if i wanted. After reading all these complaints I told her "no thank you". I don't want to wait another month for it and i sure don't want them to "accidently" charge my credit card for the replacement. Now, i just hope they do credit my account cause when i asked her for a confirmation number she said that someone would give me a call back and give me it. That sounds weird to me but i hope they do it.

I too have been scammed by Smooth Away! You can't email them or contact them by phone. If you order online, there is no way to know your order was processed, so you try again. Then you are charged twice. Thinking the orders didn't go through, I ordered by phone. I only wanted standard shipping and said no to priority shipping, but when I received the bill, I was charged almost $27.00 for shipping and handling! I will never order anything from a TV commericial again.
