SPD Warranty Program taking bank information

today my husband i called because we had received a letter in the mail from SPD warranty Program telling us that our factory coverage had exspired and we could extend it, for a low monthly payment. So we decided that it might be a good idea considering our car just hit a 100, 000 miles. As a lot of people had said thatg the letter was stated wrong, it had said that we bought our car one month ago when we had bought a little over a year ago but we though it was a typo. Considering when we called they knew the year, make, model, and vin# of our car. So we decided to go through with it, so we gave them our checking account number and a routing # off of my check. Because they needed a down payment of 150.00 to activate the account then 125.00 a month after that. I told him that we didn't have the money in there right now so he would have to wait a few days, and that is why we gave him the check number instead. Nothing has happened yet but i look up this site right after and started closing my bank account right away, i have learned my lesson to many scams never again will i do something before checking up on it first. Wish me luck and hope they don't get a pennie out of me before hand! I plan to take further action with this scam by reporting it to the FBI, and goverment agencies, what i would like to know is how they got my info like my car make, year, model, and vin # all tell you one thing the dealer were i bought my car from is going to here from me tomorrow (KIA in Puyullup)!

Did you get response as to how they got your vehicle information? I too received a letter, but it was for the wrong vehicle.

SPD Warranty Program scams

I received a notice that the warranty on my 2004 jetta is about to end. I DON'T OWN a 2004 jetta. This is BS. The people running this company should spend time in jail. You should call them and pomplain also. [protected] manager G. Rareesh

We, too, just received a letter stating that the 2002 S60 Volvo we purchased "1 month ago". Wait, 1 month ago? We've had this vehicle since the summer of 2003. Though it may appear to be a waste of time, I think I'm going to give them a call [protected]) and give them the run around before telling them to f-off.

I recieved the same letter in the mail. They told me my warranty on my 2002 Durango was about to expire and this was my 2nd reminder. I never owned a Durango. I called them on it and they were very nasty and could not understand why I was so upset about a piece of mail, they said just through it out. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told there are many which one do I want. Very arrogant. So he gave me a supervisor but I think it was the same guy. This guy said his name was Rob Hays. LOL I asked who the president of the company was and he said he is not allowed to give out that information. This place is a big SCAM.

Misty, they do it on purpose: i got one for a Sunfire and I don't drive either. They just harvest names and addresses from phone databases and add any car they want. Then you get a recording claiming "overwhelming responses" when they only want to have you call asking where did they get your name and that car info, when in reality your call is to confirm a real person and address. Then they can either use you to spam with other gimicks, or to call and see how gullible you are to falling for this fake insurance scheme. They will try to trick you into giving out personal info on the pretext of "verifying" if you are possibly victim of identity theft. DON'T call them back, keep letter in case the gov't winds up having to go after them for any sort of fraud or identity theft from getting your info.
