I just had a phonecall from the social media people trying to see me facebook adverts. I explained to the man that we do our own facebook adverts and thanks for the call. He then became very aggressive and told me I was doing it wrong and if I was doing it right it would cost me €30000 a month. I told him again I wasnt interested he then became very aggressive and asked me if I would cut my own hair or would I get a professional to do it! I then asked him should every person with a facebook page be paying them to do their advertising and if so they must be making a lot of money... He told me to f*** off and hung up on me! great sales approach.. I think Not

I am having a problem with these people, who claim to advertise on Facebook. I cancelled the advert within the specified time but they maintain they didn't receive the letter for another 3 weeks. This then going into another month, hence they want more money. I have now sent a recorded delivery letter inviting them to take me to Court.
Has anyone out there had or are you having a problem with these people?
Many thanks
Hi, i don't usually post on forums, but after my conversation today with 'the social media people' today i am absolutedly fuming. My story is similar to many others i've read about today. it started in august when i got a phone call from them. they offered 1 month free advertising with facebook. our company took the offer thinking it was just that. FREE. after a few days we started getting calls daily from them and eventually decided on a 3 month package which we paid around 800 pounds for UPFRONT. Now after a month another 263 pounds was taken which we got refunded after several phonecalls. They done this each month during the 3 month contract and after the 3 month contract finished they kept on taking the money out so i phoned them and they said we have a contract that can't be cancelled without a months notice in writing! yet they were very quick to tie me into a contract verbally as no papers were originally signed! i said we have a 3 month contract which we paid for upfront, to which he replied;
'We have a recording of you agreeing to a contract by phone that requires cancellation in writing.' i am to be sent a copy of this verbal contract and am going to be charged 10 pounds for the privilege. In fact towards the end of the call he started raising his voice and tried intimidating me. i think this is a discraceful way to run a company and i can't believe facebook have associated themselves with this company. This is boiler room selling!
o i just want to assure anybody reading this that
1, i am not a disgruntled ex employee
2, i am not a rival company as i dont even know any other companies that do this type of business.
Kind regards
Glenn

I know for a 100% FACT that this company not only scams its customers but its staff as well. they have ahigh turnover as they take people on for 2 weeks hide a clause that if you dont make the grade you forefit your wages and get zero.
they have apo box in london as they dont want their cutomers to know that they are based in Manchester behind Manchester Picadilly, they dont want to associated with similar companies in Manchester
Online Web Services is an offshoot - a 'trading as' name used by Net66 Web Services Ltd.
Why was a deal struck with The Social Media People processed by a different company?
The YouTube item revealing real threatening phone calls from fictitious TSMP Director and Legal Agent, is now appearing at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IY-LQ4kFaa8
This is what TSMP will do to silence critics.
Good cal!
My one and only payment was taken by www.online-webserv - there's obviously be more of an address but that's all that shows up on my paper statement or the online one. Steve BadBiz Jones did a bit of investigating and I think all he could come up with was a company, which if I remember correctly, was in Canada. TSMP stated in emails that they had tried to take money from my account on two occasions but my bank wouldn't release any money. I checked with my bank and they said no attempts had been made. I have obviously 'lost' my debit card now and got a new one to stop any attempts anyway.
Fleet Trainer
What were the details on your card statement? I suspect that it is not TSMP who has taken the payment. If that is the case, you are under no contract what so ever. Advise you bank / credit card company accordingly and claim any monies back!
Also the advise from TF above is sound.

05-07-2011:
It's not just me asking questions of The Social Media People and its scam.
Everyones questions are repeatedly and contiuously ignored and dodged by the company.
When I recently (on 5 July 2011 that was 4 days and 2 days ago) answered the questions posed to me, I proposed that as a matter of honour and fair play Tom McVey answer a single question in return. But he hasn't - yet. Let's give him another opportunity.
The question is: What is the name, and Firm, of the solicitor who The Social Media People had telephone me on 5 April 2011, and which conversation was confirmed by your esteemed Director of Customer Service, Steven Jackson in his telephone message to me on 20 April 2011?

Over to you Tom; if you want everyone to believe you are the honourable, upright businessman you claim to be, you should answer a question posed by a customer, about a real event, and supported by evidence from your very own spokesman. What do you say?
Tom you are quite right
