Door
I would like to give them zero stars. The door on my therma tru front door spontaneously broke and I bought a brand new house straight from the builder. It is 1.5 years old with no evidence of tampering at all. I called my builder who is claiming this is not their problem. I called therma tru who said that glass is not covered under warranty unle...

Ordered a new door through Home Depot but quality control issues were discovered on the door after it was installed. • Top of door corner is chipped & rough-edged (looks like it was also painted over to try to hide it) • Large crack in the doorjamb by the bolt insertion • Small interior trim was not secured and nail holes were not caulked • Sloppy...

Purchased a Therma Tru front door in Oct 2013. The first winter the door was fine. The winter of 2014/2015 was a long snowy winter but with a new front door and lifetime warranty we thought we were set. The door started to leak and failed. The water got in between and the door swelled and became unusable. Contacted Therma Tru to file a claim since they have a warranty. First was told by management that this past winter was "an act of god" and the warranty on that fact is null and void. Really, when has snow in New England been an act of god! Contacted the BBB and realized that there were many complaints concerning customer service. They proceeded to help us but told us that they do not respond well. Therma-Tru sent our a "third party contractor" to evaluate the door. When I asked the gentleman who pays for his services he told me Therma Tru. SO how is this a third party opinion? Well no surprise to BBB and us it was then decided that the door was not installed correctly and that was the reason the warranty is deemed null and void. Okay Therma Tru which reason is it? This company does not honor their "LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY". Very bad customer service un to which the contractor who installed the door has stopped using the product.
Rotten door
At 2.5 years one of our Thermatru doors was rotten, though it has a lifetime warranty. Thermatru inspected and found that defective assembly at Huttig, the exclusive Thermtru supplier., Had voided the warranty before the door even left the shop at Huttig. So we asked Huttig to replace the doors. They agreed, but would not deal with 3 point lock replacement...

We had 3 ThermaTru patio door sets installed in our home in northern Wisconsin late summer 2021. We headed south for the winter in November, and in early April 2022 our children when checking on our home noticed that the finish on the door frames and brickmold was peeling off. We contacted the dealer, who told us that the “paint” is not covered under the ThermaTru warranty.
He did offer to repaint the frames and brickmold, nut we declined the offer because we have no reason to believe that a second coat of paint applied on site will adhere any better than the factory-applied first coat. Instead, we have ordered three replacement doors from Pella at a cost of $28,000 and will have to eat our loss but will never have anything to do with ThermaTru in the future.
