Umovefree customer service

I used umovefree for the first time and I'm disgusted. I had to leave town for a family emergency, my gf called and switched my move time. well someone on YOUR end did not notate my acct and the movers show up at 330 when I changed my slot from 1-2. I leave my home and the movers show up, when I'm not even there load my stuff up and leave. They didn't call to verify when they were on their way that it was even ok to come after I changed my move time. They listened to my babysitter which again inst my fault because I was told the movers would call when on the way which clearly didn't happen. Had they have called me you guys would have known I switched the time and you're too late I'm going to the airport so we could reschedule. Finally the movers call looking for me when they reach my new apt and they cant get in. One of ur representatives Susan or Susanna whomever was completely unprofessional I had to leave town for a dying relative she was unapologetic said it was a personal problem and I should plan my vacation better. the president of the company cant remember his name but I work in a call center too and it probably was just another agent because again no notes were on my acct, then called me and asked what he could do.. he then told me they would return my things and I could schedule a new move when I got back I'm in town now and I cant get my stuff moved. I was told my move credit was used but I'm sure you guys got paid already for free because you didn't do anything for me I found my own apt and just put u guys down for the free apparent move. So now I would like my items moved and the 200 credit because this has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced from someone who already got paid when I signed my lease and u didn't even help me find the apt I did y'all a favor. so I hope to receive a call about someone coming to move my stuff tomorrow morning or ill take my experience to corporate until something gets done.. because the way I was treated during a difficult family time is disgusting and that woman should be fired. PLEASE CONTACT ME AT kelona.[protected]@gmail.com asap my family has been sleeping on the floor because of what seems to be a mishandled misunderstanding..

Umovefree Very bad service

Very bad service, Not only their moving service so bad but you will not get any rebates if you want o move on your own.

No one picks up the call for status update on rebates and no returns the calls.

Please find other apartment movers, this has very bad customer service.

Disclaimer: I work at UMoveFree in the marketing department.

It is unfortunate that the process takes time. I used our apartment locating services last year when i was in a jam and personally know the agony of waiting on your rebate. We are working internally to make things more transparent to the customers. To that end I wanted to post a few resources to help those reading these pages and comments.
http://www.umovefree.com/howitworks/ - brief explanation of the service
http://www.umovefree.com/rebate/ - more in-depth resource on the rebate
http://www.umovefree.com/free-move/ - more in-depth resource on the free move offer

the worst part for me was not knowing what was going on with my rebate. To make it clear we can't pay a rebate until the apartment community pays us. Most wait 90 days to pay to ensure that the tenant doesn't skip out on their lease, after that it's anyone's guess when they pay but 90-120 days is about the average. When you talk to your agent ask them the average payment time for the apartment community you selected.

if you can't reach your agent, please feel free to contact me via email which you can find in image form here (so i dont get destroyed with spam) http://i.imgur.com/1z3Zf.png I will do my best to reply directly to your questions or get you to someone with more knowledge in the office.

TxC does not work for UMoveFree, Sigma Relocation or our other subsidiaries. Note that all of our executive and support staff are located in Irving, TX and the DFW metro. Also note the willingness of our CEO, Nick Barber, and myself to readily admit that we work here when replying.

The original post says that we dont offer a rebate if you move on your own, that's incorrect. The Rebate is designed for those who wish to move themselves and would like the money more than a moving service.

I look forward to answering any more questions / concerns. Please email them to me at the address provided above and don't post them here as I won't be checking this thread very often.

I agree i used Umovefree to find my appartment and while i was looking for one i got a call or email every single day about "claiming my rebate after i moved" but since i have signed the lease i havent had a single call or email and it is completley impossible to get any replys. Over all i have to say umovefree is a scam!

That's funny this response is exactly the same as another response to a Umovefree complaint on this site. Seems very suspicious and from reading a couple of other responses it's probably a Umovefree employee. Buyer Beware!

I used umovefree.com for my apartment search and then move. I wasn't thrilled with the service but I would give them another chance.

First they contract out to other moving companies. The guys that came to move me were in a truck with a different name on the side, not the company I was quoted when I talked to umovefree.com and not the company quoted on the contract. The company quoted on the contract is about 4.5 hours away from me and the guys that came had a local number and location on the side of their truck. There were two guys and the 'main' guy had his son with him. None of the men spoke English and he apparently brought the son to talk with me. His son was about 10 and he was nice, spoke English perfectly and even helped move items that he could move.

Now what I didn't like. They dented up EVERYTHING they moved..which was not a lot. I had my family help me move boxes and end tables leaving just 10 items for the movers to move. My bed was already taken apart when they got there and the washer and dryer were unhooked and sitting in the living room waiting for them. They had to bring the bed out of the bedroom as well as a desk and they ended up hitting the corner wall with either the bed or desk causing a big chunk of paint to fall off. There are numerous dents and scratches on my bed frame as well as a few spots where they ripped my mattress and box spring. The entertainment center, while beat up before they arrived somehow ended up even more beat up by the time it made it to my new apartment. They also managed to put a HUGE dent in the floor when they brought the washer and dryer into the new apartment.

Now onto the contract I had to sign. The fount was smaller than most contracts making it harder to read but I wasn't going to sign anything without reading it no matter how hard they tried to make it. If they had centered it differently they could have put the contract on the page 4 times and cut the paper saving them money. I had to sign the line that states a household good carriers liability for loss or damage to any shipment is 60 cents per pound per article...Take that how you want to, that very well could be a standard contract in the moving industry. This is the first time I've used a moving company so I don't know what a standard contract should read like. The contract also stated that if I went over my 2.5 hours I would have to pay the movers 22.50 every 15 minutes.

Now onto the drive to the new apartment. I was well aware that I had the men for 2.5 hours and I also knew that moving 10 items was not going to take up the entire 2.5 hours but the men found a way to do just that. The drive from the old apartment to the new apartment was 6 miles. According to mapquest it should take about 15 minutes and on the day they moved me traffic wasn't bad and so it should have taken 15-20 minutes to get to the new apartment. There was also no turns, it was simply one major street that we were on for the entire 6 miles. It took the moving men almost an hour to get to the new apartment. They were following me to the new apartment and they kept their speed under 20 miles an hour the entire time. The normal speed down this road is 45 for the first 3 miles or so and 50 the other few miles. They also made sure to catch every single light, which was about 10 lights. When I tried to speed up to the normal speed or even 5 miles under they just got further behind me, they never tried to keep up with me. In the end that part didn't matter to me because they finished on time and I didn't have to pay them anything extra, but I find it significant enough to mention here so that anyone that uses this service is aware of what they do.

Overall they did what was asked, they moved the heavy items from my old apartment to my new apartment and made sure there was someone there who spoke English so that I could communicate with the men. I was not happy in the least with the condition of my items once they arrived nor was I happy with the dent in the floor and chunk of paint that fell off due to the movers hitting the walls with my furniture. I think the drive there was ridiculous and used just to kill time but since they finished on time I guess that isn't such a big deal. I think next time I might just get my family to help me move everything and use the money from umovefree.com to buy them all dinner as a thank you instead of using the movers.

I found UMoveFree online. They contacted me almost immediately upon registering for their site. I found an apartment to move to and scheduled everything. On moving day the movers were two hours late. I called Umovefree and the person I had been dealing was busy and would have to call me back. She never did. After the movers arrived they looked at everything...
