scam alert!! this company operates a scam business!! all fake!!
I signed up for this site here in Los Angeles in Jan 2019 and paid through PayPal for 30 day subscription. Within days of using it, I found over 80% of the listings to be suspicious and I reported many of them directly to the Roomster.com site and days later my account was deleted without any reply or explanation! What a scam! People reading this please don't waste your time or good hard earned money on this site. A total scam...no doubt about it! I can say nothing good here. Not one person I contacted appeared to be legit.. NOT ONE! unbelievable. I even found same person using multiple names and multiple pictures of girls.. same scam artist with different ads...unbelievable! These scams artists claim to be renting a room but all of them say they are out of town for work or school and ask you to send a deposit to hold the room until they return to meet you...WTF! Total Total Total SCAM!
credit card fraud - this company is fake and so are the listings: roomster.com
This company is a total scam. The use fake people, with fake ads to help you find either an apartment or a roommate.
DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. ROOMSTER.COM is a scam.
I signed up for the 3 days search. When I realized they were fake and the ads never panned out. No one ever returned my emails, I knew something was up. I cancelled my account. Then they started billing my credit card $24.95. I tried to call but they don't have a real phone number. I wrote emails and said not only did I cancel my account and asked for a refund, they billed me again. This time I started write emails to their fake site only to be told that I opened a new account and that's why I was being bill. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM. FAKE FAKE FAKE. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THE IS COMPANY.
This is a dishonest company. They are committing credit card fraud and using the internet. That falls under the FBI and federal law enforcement. Contact Federal Agencies to report ROOMSTER.COM
extra charges
Please be aware when you pay Roomster they continue charging till you cancel the service. I was not aware of it and was charged two more months extra till I notice the charges on my bank statement. I contact them to get partial refund and did not refund anything for the service I havent used. Please stay away from Roomster. They take advantage of you if you give them a chance. I hope they will be investigated.
billing charges
I initially signed up with Roomster in search of an apartment. On their website, they offer three messaging packages to allow you to communicate directly with potential roommates.
Apparently, it does not matter which package you choose - you are still billed for their most expensive package after several days.
I signed up for a 5-Day package for $7.95 figuring I wouldn't need more time than that to review housing options. Unbeknownst to me, after 5 days I get an additional charge for $24.95 having received any messages other than spam that's included in a free membership.
When I reached out to support immediately after seeing this, they never addressed the automatic increased charge even though I signed up for a 5-Day $7.95 subscription.
Very predatory and not transparent in my opinion. I would be cautious to sign up for any subscription with them. Would not use again.
unethical payment
Roomster had advertised that I would only have to pay $5.99 for a full access to their website/ app for a month. I had purchased the full access on 9/24/2018 at 2:11pm using my computer, believing that it will only cost $5.99, however it had actually cost $399.99. I no longer wish to have full access for this month and I would like to request a refund.
MY TID number is [protected]:1766355: [protected]
Please ignore the previous post. I was charged 399.99 INR (Indian Currency) = 5.49 USD (US Dollars)
subscription and payment
I was looking for rooms so I signed up for for Roomster. I was granted a five day free trial which ended on the 15th of Sept. I was intending to cancel my subscription because the service during the trial process was terrible. Most of the email messages were removed when I went to read them. Anyway. I was charged on the 5th day of my 5 day trial. That's not fair. This is false advertising. You can't change someone on the 5th day of a 5 day trial. I would like a refund. Thank you.
I delete my account some months ago but roomster still take money from my account why I delete the account
I have been trying to to cancel everything I managed to cancel and delete my account but you roomster you take money from my account why can you help me with stopping the charge on my account card please is it good if someone delete her account and you keep on taking money from her does it work that way in need you to delete it pemanantly because I don't want it anymore
billing
I have emailed number of times regarding charges to my debit card. I did not authorize these transaction . I login into Roomster to delete Pay Pal account and reoccurring charges. However, this issue still has not been resolved over a month. Charges exceed $40 and I would like these charges to be credited. I can be contacted via email at [protected]@yahoo.com
duped of money
I was looking for a room and someone pointed me to Roomster. I saw a few listings in my area and then I saw that they only charge $1.5, for a few days and hence I tried it. They had written in big that I can cancel the subscription anytime, but at the bottom, they had put some conditions for auto-renewal, which I wasn't able to see, and they charged me. I think that they should put this information at the top, not bottom. Besides, the rooms owners listed over there never reply, so the website doesn't deliver any value and is probably a scam.
Appreciate if someone can help.
account deleted
Hello,
I hope this message finds you well. I create a roomster account less than 24 hours ago. My account has been deleted. I was wondering if you could trouble shoot this issue and allow me log in as I still was suppose to have 5 days to find a roommate, since I paid for the account.
Email address is [protected]@gmail.com. My number is [protected].
I look forward to hearing from you.
the worst roommate site ever... beware!
This is by far the worst roommate site I have ever been on. Not only was I constantly bombarded by fake roommate emails, but I was charged 24.99 without approval. I was appalled at the lack of customer service and the unavailability. They promote a 27/7 customer support line but there is no one there but an automated message to go online and take care of it yourself. DON'T USE THIS SITE!
can't cancel my subscription bcuz I deleted my account
I had an accaunt throw my Facebook under [protected]@mail. ru accaunt I guess and I couldn't find a way to cancel memebership so I deleted it but I still going to get charged which I figured after. Customer service sent me a link to cancel subcribtion even tho I'm saying I can't do that since I deleted the account. So how can I cancel my subcribtion now?
roommate finding service
I'm new to this area and this was supposed to be a reputable service for finding rooms for rent. I signed up, paid, and got to look at availabilities for one day (7/3/2018) before my account was canceled. Is this a scam?! I thought that since you had to pay to participate it would weed out people that didn't really want to find roommates or rent rooms. I will chock the $8 loss to a learning experience, but hope no-one else makes the mistake of thinking this is a legitimate service. I will see if my bank's fraud investigation department will open a case on this company and let them look for ways to recover losses and hopefully recommend charges. If I had looked a little deeper into reviews I would have seen there are enough people complaining for a class-action case to be brought against Roomster.com.
my membership
My membership was cancelled immediately after I met this sketchy Nigerian girl Maryann whose phone number is: +[protected]. The "furnished room" was at 80 degrees, and she must have reported me immediately after I told her thanks anyway and that the temperature was jut too much for me, and I didn't want to make her wait on a yes or no...
I was charged a fee of 24$ after my initial 5 days trial
I just wanted to purchase a 5 day trial for $7 and then I did not even know when they charged me a $24 fee after the 5 day trial. I didnt see it explicitly written that my card will be auto debited after 5 days and I do not remember giving any permission to debit my card without my permission. The roomster site does not even provide a contact number of any customer service to resolve this issue.
roomster customer service
Bills, receipts, and subscriptions are only sent within the app and not email. I didn't realize it auto-Renews after the 5 day trial. I've already found a roommate and now I'm out $25 for a service that I'm not using and didn't help me. I cancelled the day of renewal after seeing the charge on my bank account. I asked for a refund as that is literally my food budget for the next week as I wait to be paid again. I've continued to just receive automated messages telling me I authorized the charges and still have access for the month. I'm not using the service as I don't need it, and I really need the money to eat. Customer service is awful and I would not recommend using this service. Craigslist is more helpful.
membership roommate finding
I got the membership to find a roommate and now I can't access it unless I submit for a credit report which I am not interested.
I cannot use the service that I paid, because the screen is locked up unless I apply for a credit report. Also, although I paid for the membership, they keeping annoying ads. This is causing a big problem because I cannot use the service "to find a roommate" because the website is unusable. They also want to force me to link my facebook photos to them.
can't get back my deposit.
We used this service to find a room in Austell GA. Put down the $ 500.00 deposit through Wells Fargo bank as instructed from Jonah Bennett the person we thought was renting rooms, turns out he stole our money and disconnected his phone. We also can't delete the account so that roomsters can stop charging us fees. Please help. I will be reporting tbis to Better Business bureau.
No Phone Support

Legitimate business' offer many ways they can be reached so they can be accountable.
Roomster does not have email or phone support. Unless you have a Facebook account you cannot log in. That means if you are not a Facebook user, you are being discriminated.
Attached is Roomster's log in page that also serves as Contact a customer service representative link.

housing service
I think one of two thing is going on. First: every craigslist ad that referred me to the roomster site to get an appointment to see housing is an ad that roomster is placing themselves to direct you to themselves to scam us and steal our money.
Second: roomster pays ad writer for every one of their ads that includes a direct link to roomster saying just do one of these thing, go register, create an account, or something and I will call you with an appointment to see the property. When you click on roomster the ad writer gets paid for that first click. It's called (pay per click) and if roomster is able to charge you any amount of money like 3.99, 5.99, 7.99 or 29.99 recurring charges the ad writer get an increasing kickback. There are real (pay per click) companies out there that have a companies put border ads on there companies website and every time you click on that border ad and get redirected to another website, the site that sent you there get a pay per click fee deposited directly into their account. With the second method the writers are the criminals and law enforcement has to prosecute thousands of people.in the first case there I only one corp. Roomster to bring a class action against. But rooster has to pay a pay per click company to run the scam and create someone else to blame for the criminal acts. The last company I ran into made rooster look like armature hour. I was able to shame the customer service phone agent so much that he showed his hand by with out me asking he canceled my original order for $149.95 with a different company and had the $149.95 but back into my checking account by using a debit card reversal that showed up on my bank statement. Before checking out another company with a very tricky ad tried to up sell me other product and when I declined that second site made it very difficult to finish checking out with the first company since I had already entered all of my payment info for the first. The second company automatically charged me for everything on the tag along site. He tipped his hand by saying to me after I told him how hard it was to get back to the first site to just pay for the product I wanted. That he would check with the software code writer for their web sites to see if there was a problem with their websites. I told him to think about what he was doing to people by working for such a disreputable company and he surely could find a real job. Then he refunded the shipping of 6.99 and something called mailing insurance fee of 3.99 and a second product I hadn't ordered for 6.95 and the up charged 17.88 for a shipment sent out because I had not cancelled my order on time. Sometimes you do not have to wait for a class action court to just make lawyers rich. Make it personal for the person on the phone. Good luck with your various exploits eliminating the slammers from the face of the world. Thanks, coramdeo4jc. That means, (do everything in the face of god for jesus christ.)

I created a profile on Roomster on February 20th, 2019, in search of a room/place. After completing the registration for the so called free service, I was asked to upgrade the service. I did not and soon realized you cannot open the messaging feature without doing so. You may however send messages to possible openings. I messaged well over 30 people in regards to their homes for rent or people renting their rooms out. I received email alerts that several people were sending me messages so I upgraded my service to 5 days for $7.95 ... which is foolish enough, but when I opened my messages, I only had four messages! Not several like my email alerts had claimed. Two of these messages were from two different woman (different listings anyways), with relatively the same listing requests. After sending them both my email around 3:55am they both emailed me back with identical responses one right after the other by 4:12am. Requesting an application fee of $75.
The other two were from Apartment realtors, which I never inquired about apartments, not once.
Roomster.com is a bunch of scam artists on one site. Anyone who returns your messages, is always out of town for work or something in the same sort.
After reading these other comments I was scared of being charged for the full subscription and went to "Settings' to cancel my subscription. I sent a message to customer service asking if this was a scam because of what happened with the two women, and the fact no one was returning my messages. They replied with a simple answer to keep with it for more than a week (which is passed my 5-day trial) and people would soon message me back. I soon after went to my profile and deleted all my personal information, then deleted my account.
