Select Care Benefits Network [SCBN] phishing scam

I contacted this company 12/8/09 for help with prescriptions. They took all of my personal identifying information: demographics, SSN, driver's license, credit card and medical history. They put themselves out as a pharmacy advocacy program. Today is 1/5/10 and they have charged my account $90. I have never received any services or products for this money. They said there is a non-refundable "application fee" and monthly charge for medications. I would have to put in writing that I want them to stop charging me. I should have known something was amiss when they said they couldn't issue me a receipht and could not email the "application forms". They have never sent any forms by mail and have refused to return phone calls.

Their website does not list a street address and does not have a link by which to contact them. All emails I have sent requesting a refund have been returned "undeliverable."

Beware! This is a phishing scam and they collect an inordinate amount of personal information. In the meantime, my doctor put me in touch with a local pharmacy assistance program and I have been able to receive my prescriptions for $10 for a 60 day supply with no "application fee" and without disclosing everthing from my weight to my SSN.

I applied for prescription cost help. Jim at SCBN said they could help. They are good at what they do...SCAM. They have taken $90.00 of my money and never sent me anything. When I accused him of being a scam and that I wanted my money back and that they are not to charge any further funds from my credit card he hung up on me. He lied to me and said I'd...

Select Care Benefits Network [SCBN] money rip off

I am very frustrated with this company. it started back in late August of 2009. My x-husband let my daughters insurance expire and has failed to do anything about it. he has this dream that he will be hired soon as full time with the company he is working for, and then he will be able to put her on his insurance. I had to step in. I have been trying daily to to get her insurance but since she has a pre-existing condition, so far not many insurance companies will take her. My daughter has type 1 diabetes and at the time was in desperate need of medicine, her medicine does not come cheap. i came across SCBN's website I made the call at first I was hesitant because while talking on the phone with the so called advocate there was loud music in the background. Future calls to this company had loud music as well. my After all the hoopla it was time for the bank info. i had made mention several times that I did not want the 90 dollars removed from my account on a Friday because I would not be able to get to the bank until late Friday. I did not want to suffer an overdraft fee. I had already set my payments in place for the money I already had in the bank. Several times I was assured that the agreement we made was that the money would be withdrawn on the following Monday. I gave my bank info with that understanding. Come Friday the money was withdrawn, WOW 90 dollars plus I was charged 62 dollars for overdraft fees because of the 90 dollar withdraw. I called the company and cancelled and demanded all my money two weeks later I received my 90 dollars but not until SCBN had to review the phone conversation I had first started with. That process took about two weeks to resolve.
My next step was for SCBN to pay for the overdraft fees they caused by pulling the money out on Friday and not Monday. Through many faxes (cause the company kept saying the faxes were not received or the fax machine had not been downloaded and for me to check at the end of the week, which I did and received the same nonsense.
when I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor I was always told they are in a meeting or one was not available or it was closing time and the managers had left. They said a manager usually comes in the evening and a call would be returned, never happened.
Final finale, here it is September 30, 2009, I finally received the call. to my surprise, SCBN told me they did cause the overdrafts. I was shocked if they would not have taken the money out and left everything alone until Monday there would have been the money to cover the 90 dollars. it was the end of the week and all my payments i adjusted for were coming in on Friday. what do they think that I am a tree and made of money. NOT. I live on a tight budget, being a single parent. I wish I would never met this company and I hope that many who read this. pass on to others who look to this company for help. SCBN makes it easy to apply, but then once you are in one is treated like a number and that's it. No customer service at all.

Select Care Benefits Network [SCBN] charged 170.00 fradulant charges

Recently my mother spoke to a company about getting help with paying for prescription drugs. Apparently she gave out to much information.
Long story short they pulled money from her bank account. When she called to complain they told her that I had signed up not her, but her Alzheimer patient husband. Having not spoken to them I called them and complained. They put me on a no music hold. One of those holds where your not sure your connected. After thirty minutes or so I was connected with Jason. He informed me after putting me on hold 2 more times that " The complaint was turned over to another department to view the recording of the phone call to my mother. It would be the end of the week before we would know anything. Not holding my breath on that one.
So, I did a little research. I first spoke with Consumer Affairs in Nashville. They said:
" Companies like this spring up all the time. My mother would have to write a registered letter to the company in this case "SCBN" and keep a copy in case the complaint went unanswered. If no answer or monies no returned, then the copy would be sent to Consumer Affairs to start the complaint process.
No doubt my mother has lost the monies paid. The link above takes you to a government website that has a laundry list of unscrupulous companies.
So I say to you "Caveat Emptor" "Let The Buyer Beware. "
Here is the contact for Consumer Affairs:

Select Care Benefits Network [SCBN] representative made mistake on app.

Called for prescription help. The representative wrote down the wrong information (recorded) Got his name and have all pertinent information given on the recorded call, And they took $80 from my credit card. Call was on Friday June 19th and I got a letter verifing that my husband qulifies for this plan. Today is Mon June 23rd and I got a call informing me that his packet is on the way. When we went over the information, it was not what I had given Nick at all. I read it to her from my notes taken the 19th. Also I she asked that I just give her all info again and we do not qualify. Their policy is no refunds. NICE! Also this is $30 per mo. for 1 year. I don't think so! I have no use for this plan. I will get my money back and if I am told that I can't I will deal with that later.

Hello Shirley,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I have looked through our records and I could not find you as a member of our program. Your husband Don was a member and we in fact issued a full refund to him months ago.

If you would like to contact me directly, please feel free to call me at [protected]. We have resolved the issue, but if you would like to talk please feel free to call me.

Select Care Benefits Network [SCBN] money taken and no service

I called this company to get help with my medication. I was told that they could get me my medication for little or no cost. They ask for a one time application fee of $50.00 plus $20.00 for medication I needed. The first charge to my bank account was for $90.00. I received a packet in the mail to have my doctor fill out. I then called back in and told them I had changed my mind and wanted to cancel. I was told to send the packet back to them unfilled out and they would refund my money. In the mean time, they took $40.00 from my bank account in March and also in April. I sent the packet back to them with a tracking ticket. I called in everyday and asked if they had received the packet. To which they answered no. I checked the tracking number on-line and found out that they had received the packet. I called them back told them they had received the packet and gave them the time and date they received it. I was then told that it was in front of the reveiw board. I got a letter from them stating that they would not refund me my $170.00 because of all the work and labor they had put into it. Which was untrue, I never used their service nor did I receive any medication. I then received a call from a supervisor named Tim who was rude and obnoxiuos. He told me that I was and 'airhead and a dummie' and that he cancelled my 'membership as a favor, because I could be responsible for the whole years dues. I never signed anything or used their service. He said he had me on tape agreeing to everything and that in the state of TX that was a legal and binding contract. I asked to hear the tape and he said it would cost me $50.00 to get the tape and any other taped called I had with them. I was never advised I was being taped and told him this, to which he stated 'Shut up dumb a--!' He said I would not get my money back and that I should take my lumps like everyone else. There has to be a lawyer out there that will start a class action suit on behalf of all the people this company has stolen money from. This is theft by deception and we need to stop this place

I, unfortunately, contacted this company after my job loss in 3-2010. I was on the internet and was going to the maker's website to find assistance, and I saw a sponsered site for them for myrxadvocate, whic took me to SCBN. Mea culpa! I should have Googled SCBN or went to the BBB site, but I was so excited that I could apply for assistance, my head was turned. I thought that since the maker's website directed me to go to SCBN's site, they sponsered them. In fact, I thought I was applying directly to the maker, until I got SCBN's call.

They contacted me the first time, to tell me it would be a $50 set-up fee and $30 monthly. Then he called me back, to tell me that the program I would be applying for, had been closed, and that now the fee would be $452 monthly for 4 months. There was no way I could afford that, so I said goodbye. He kept calling but I refused to speak to him until he said that the fee had gone back down to the original $30 monthly. I received the packet, which I completed and my doctor wrote me the prescription.
It is now, at the end of May, no delivery of any sort. They mailed me a prescription card, but when I went on their site to inquire how much off I could receive with the card, no response. I have called them several times, since they took another payment in April. Now, they are telling me that the doctor's prescription was for the generic, and they would have to send it back to me. It wasn't for the generic.
I have a suspicion that they are just dragging their feet to keep getting their monthly payment, but will have one excuse after the other why I can't get my meds. In the meantime, I am forced to rely on a different medication for my Epilepsy, which doesn't work as well, but is cheaper.
I am considering my money spent a loss. How can SCNB go after a person for future payments if they haven't kept up their end of the bargain?

Select Care Benefits Network [SCBN] overcharged

After 4 months collecting enough data to satisfy new member requirements, SCBN informed me that not only did I have to have a membership to obtain one medication, but now my husband had to apply for his own membership to obtain the one medication of his we needed help with. And you guessed it...that required another $50 app fee and instead of $40 per month for two meds as originally required it would now be $30 each.

I requested help with 2 meds from day one, and no one ever told me about separate membership requirements...after numerous conversations with different reps for months! I refused to submit any more forms and requested cancellation and refund immediately. I was told I then had to send written confirmation I wanted to cancel.

The next thing I received was another generic letter informing me I had to meet detailed criteria to be 'allowed' to cancel and of course nothing about refunding. Upon calling for a supervisor was told they'd have to call me back (again). I wonder if he'll tell me his name is Brad or what is the other one?

After being screwed by previous employers out of unemployment, insurance and 401k benefits we are tired of being cheated out of money. This time I'm gonna fight to get our money back one way of another.

Select Care Benefits is an oxymoron. Select Care INDEED! CROOKS.

Select Care Benefits Network [SCBN] scam

I applied to SCBN on the internet and was denied because I had insurance. The next day, Jim Moran of SCBN called me and after finding out that I had minimal prescription coverage (but some! which is supposed to disqualify me) he convinced me to give him my credit card information and join. The next day I received a long email which informed me that I would have to go to my doctor's office to pick up my medicines. Since my doctors are a three hour round trip away, I called to cancel.

I found out that my credit card had already been charged a $50 membership fee and $60 monthly fee for prescriptions and that it was up to the Board of Directors whether I would get a full refund. I was told to explain everything to the BofD through their website's support center, which I did. Then I got another long email telling me I had to return all 'forms or work product' to them — which I haven't received — in 30 days, and provide written documentation that I was ineligible — in 15 days. They didn't provide an address so I called and was given a PO Box.

They gave me examples of ineligibility: a letter from my insurance company, proof of increase in income, a drug company's letter informing me that my appeal was denied, a letter from my doctor saying that my medications had been discontinued.

All this and I haven't even signed any agreements! I have made many phone calls about this to them and never get any clear answers. I called my insurance company and they are going to send me a letter saying that I have prescription coverage, but will I get it to SCBN in 15 days? I have a really bad feeling about them.

Take money, but no product. Wants to much information -Also too much personal information. Don't understand why they need or want so much information. It's harder getting drugs from this company then buying I home. So I can see why there are so many complaints with this company. They want us together. But they don't want to give. They're not worried about our health or our conditions . They don't care that we are now depended on these drugs for our sustaining of life. Sorry there's nobody else out there that can help as people who are on low income who desperately needs help with the cost of medications.

I just recently tried to go thru a PAP program to get assistance with my meds., but was rejected...within minutes I received an email from SCBN, who welcomed me to their club...this was unsolicited...They were helpful in completing my applicatiions and mailed them to me...but when they refused to provide a physical address I became suspicious and check this site...Now they have already charged my account the $50 app. fee and the first month of drugs cost/ $60...on my card...now my request for assistance from these companies has not been approved yet and I have not sent in the packet...I just hope I get my $ back...can't afford to lose money when I don't have a job... So, whoever is reading this please cancel your credit card and for God's sake do not give out your bank account # to these people...They're very good at convincing you they are sincere, but again like many of these fradulent low cost health care companies, they are out to take advantage of people...I live in Florida and have dealt with this before...I should know to check this site before I do anything...Let's get these guys...It's a shame for people to take advantage when times are so tough...

I am in the same situation as many of the poeple that have been scammed. why prey on people who need meds. money taken from my bank account before I sent in paper work. I had a funny feeling about them. to good to be true.80.00 dollars up front for what. then 30.00 taken out of my account and no paper work completed or sent in by me. my daughter said mom you need your meds send in your paper work. glad I didnot and also cancelled bank account. my instincts were right I may have lost my 80.00 dollars but they will not get anything else from me. why do they need the packet back I have very personal info and I don't want these crooks to get their dirty hands on. look before you leap. if I had seen these complains before I lost my 80.00 dollars!

That's correct Johnathan. We are a membership service of patient advocates that assist people with getting drugs from the Patient Assistance Programs. If Marcybgood had used her membership she would have received her medications and recognized great savings in her time as a member. It is unfortunate that she chose not to use her membership and she admits that she did exactly that above. Marcella also complained to the Better Business Bureau and Select Care even offered mediation through the Better Business Bureau to sit down and talk about her membership, but she has declined for the last 6 months to take us up on our offer.

We would still like to assist Marcela with the programs and help her receive prescriptions as she originally signed up to do. Select Care can only assist her if she chooses to use her membership and Select Care will even offer to give her husband and herself six free months of membership if they would actually like the assistance they signed up for.

Marcybgood,
From reading everything above, it looks to me like you joined a monthly membership organization and you pay membership dues and they offer services to assist you in getting your medications. Why did you not call to stop the monthly charges sooner if you were not using the services? It’s like you ‘forgot’ about everything for more than a year? Membership companies like gyms, tanning salons, insurance premiums and discount plans charge monthly fees. They keep charging you until you cancel and they never refund people if they didn’t use the services because they didn’t want to or forgot about them. What took you so long?

My husband has had SCBN for almost 2 yrs now and we have never had a problem with them until now. He has not had a refill on his script since Nov. 2010. I have been trying to get in touch with them but I have been on hold for over a hr and 20 mins. They are still taking the money out of our checking acct. I hope this is not a sign of what I have been reading.
I can tell you this is riduculous. Has anyone reported SCBN to the BBB? I can tell you if they mess with our money I wont hesitate to turn them in. We work to hard for someone to take our money without giving us our product. I will let everyone know what happens when I do get through to them.

When they ask you to write a letter to the "Board of Directors" to cancel your membership. There is no such thing as "Board of Directors", that is all BS. They are just giving you a run-around. The owners of the company should be sued for sexual harassment. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR BANKING INFORMATION...USE YOUR CREDIT CARD, THAT WAY YOU CAN DISPUTE.

I have to say, this company is quite clear from the begining regarding its refund policies which I listended to just today. None of what you have writtin should be a surprise if you had read the materials and listened to the legalease the are required to give you before activiating the plan. It was made quite clear to me what is nonrefundable. I am very happy to find a place to handle all the inbetween contracts, appllications etc after spending 1 1/2 years without my meds. I will sleep well knowing that they are dotting the I's and crossing the T's for me so that I do not have to add all of that stress to this arduos and ongoing procedure. The ease of obtaining my services and not having to worry about messing up the application and renewal process is worth the minimal fees charged for the service. Granted, it might not be for eveyone, but it cut months of work out for me and is getting my on my meds sooner than I could have done alone. My advice to anyone pursing this avenue - pay close attention to the information they give you - which is recorded - and take the time to determine if this is right for you before afixing your signature to anything. I feel I was adequately informed on their procedures. For me this service is literally a life saver.

Beware! Beware! Beware! If Mr. Brad Williams thinks this company is in good standing, he needs to be on the customer side of things. I contacted this company to get help with my meds due to loss of insurance. I spoke with Drew; a very fast talker and a great con artist. I told him I was still looking into other options; Drew assured me I could review the packet and return it for a full refund if not satisfied. After reading their packet, I was not satisfied with the services they offered. Nowhere in our conversation did he state my $155 was 'non refundable'. I called them within a few DAYS of receiving their 'packet' and was told to send the packet back along with a letter. I sent this info back certified mail. I received a reply that they did cancel my membership; but none of my payment was refundable. I called the company back and spoke with a very rude, unprofessional female who told me she wasn't getting me a supervisor or manager, and I didn't need to know the CEO's name or phone number. I did send Mr. Williams an e-mail; still have gotten no response. I have attempted to call the above number; always a busy signal. He's busy allright; busy avoiding customer complaints and issues he doesn't want to resolve satisfactorily. They got me for $155, which at this point I am considering fraud and am going to pursue this to the full extent of the law. These people are working with the FDA? Hmmmmmm

I had emailed my cancellation notice but scbn still took $65 out of my account today. I had notified the bank but for some reason they didn't withhold payment as I requested. I will fax a letter to the number that was listed on the
'push 1' and see if that will do anything. This is not a good company. I was promised medications the end of September but didn't get them until the end of October and $180 poorer.

to Mr. Williams... how can your company be in good standings in your community? Honestly? If ever you were to need help and got the go around that we, as consumers have then you would be agreeing w/ us 100%! I have a brainstorm right now... why don't you call as a consumer and pretend to need meds and see what happens to you? Call them and use a fake name, fake bank acct, fake whatever... just be in our situation for one moment and I guarantee you that you would feel EXACTLY as the rest of us do and get EXACTLY what we did...NOTHING! Good day Mr. Williams

ohhhhhh the crap these people put me through. I can't even begin to explain everything I have gone through w/ these people... let me see if I can make a VERY long story short... 1st call, talked to Joseph, he submitted my app over the phone, called me back, said I was approved, got my banking acct info and said packet should come in the mail in 3-5 business days, never asked for anything else but ASSURED me that everything would be done and started and should receive my 90 day supply of meds w/in the end of the month (October 2010), he said to try to hold out buying my meds cuz I should have my meds by the time they were due through the pharmacy that they would get my meds through... 2 weeks went by... 2nd phone call... I called Ashley (which was supposed to be my case worker) gave her my member i.d #... put me on hold for literally 20 minutes w/out even coming back to check on me periodically (guess she was hoping I'd hang up), finally returns to tell me that my paperwork was never entered in the system and she transferred me to Cody (they had my banking information however, go figure) he took all info again, said I needed proof of income from 2009 and awards benefit letter (i receive death benefits from my 2nd husband for our son)! Joseph NEVER asked or told me I needed these so right then and there I should've hung up and been done but being a naive girl I gave them the benefit of the doubt (mistakes happen, right?) cody said they would draft 80 of out my acct (50 for app fee and 30 for first month of meds) and packet should be in mail again 3-5 business days... packet comes 1 week later and the medicine that they had on the paper was COMPLETELY INCORRECT, I called Ashley ( who is the rudest person I have ever spoken to), told her I just wanted to cancel cuz of all the mistakes and I could've used the 80 by then to get my meds (one med cost me 285.00 per month) she asked me if i had a printer that she could e-mail me over the correct form w/ the correct info w/ in the half hour... 2 days go by and I still have not received an e-mail... i called her back and she said that the paper wasn't typed up w/ the correct info as of yet and it would be 3-5 days before she could e-mail this to me...again, another 3-5 days... whatever! I told her I wanted to cancel and wanted my money back (by the way, they drafted out 140.00 instead of the 80.00 that they told me) ! she said I would need to put it in writing for the refund request but they don't normally refund since they are just an advocate program that assist's in finding pharmacies to get the meds through. I told her that they haven't assisted in anything but heartache and to me robbing my bank acct... still, I sent in a 2 page letter and FINALLY received in the mail today that they do not refund partial or full anything. that their assistance was paid for in advance, are you frigging kidding me? What did they assist in? HEARTACHE, , , , , , HEARTACHE, , , , , HEARTACHE AND ROBBING MY BANK ACCT... I will do everything in my power to get this companies license suspended and get the word out that they are FRAUDS... I'm a God fearing woman but don't mess w/ people that really need help... i honestly don't know how these people sleep at night or live w/ themselves knowing what a sham of a company they really are

This company has been taking money from my account for more than 6 months now, and we have only recoeved one supply of medicine! They have been asked to stop taking money from my accountant more then 3 times! They have caused me to overdraw in my checking account! You will get no straight answers from them when you call! They need to be shut down as a company and they need to reimburse peoples money! They are a pathetic excuse for a company! Now I am writing them a cancellation letter, because now they tell me that thats what I have to do in order for them to stop withdrawing money from my account! I am sending it certified and there better not be one more cent taking from my account! I will contact a lawyer! This is simply not right!
