ServiceMagic Review: Legit Leads with Top-Notch Customer Service, But Be Prepared for Some Junk Leads
I gotta say, I've been using ServiceMagic for a while now and I'm pretty happy with the results. Sure, there are some bogus leads that come through every now and then, but overall I'm making more money than I'm spending on the service. And let me tell you, the customer service is top notch. Whenever I have an issue, they're quick to respond and always helpful.
Now, let's talk about those false leads. It's a real bummer when you get all excited about a potential job, only to find out that the customer was just shopping around for prices. But hey, that's just part of the game, right? I've found that the majority of these fake leads come from people who aren't really serious about getting work done. They just want to see what's out there and maybe get some ideas for the future.
But don't let that discourage you from using ServiceMagic. There are plenty of legit leads that come through, too. And when you do get a good one, it's usually worth the effort. I've landed some really great jobs through this service and I'm grateful for the opportunity.
All in all, I'd say that ServiceMagic is a solid investment for any business owner looking to expand their customer base. Just be prepared to sift through some junk leads along the way. But hey, that's just part of the game, right?
ServiceMagic Review: Pros and Cons of Using the Contractor Connection Website
ServiceMagic is a website that connects contractors with potential customers who are looking for home improvement services. The way it works is pretty straightforward - contractors pay a fee for each lead they receive, and then they have the opportunity to bid on the job. However, there are a couple of problems with this system that contractors should be aware of.
First of all, ServiceMagic gives the lead to two other contractors in addition to yourself. This means that you are competing with two other bidders for the job. This wouldn't be so bad if ServiceMagic made the winning bidder pay more than the two losing bidders, but unfortunately, that's not how it works. This means that you could end up spending money on a lead and then losing the job to someone who bid lower than you did.
Another issue with ServiceMagic is that some of the leads you receive may not be serious customers. You might get people who are just looking for estimates and have no intention of actually hiring a contractor to do the work. This can be frustrating, especially if you are a small contractor who is relying on these leads to keep your business going.
Overall, the leads that ServiceMagic provides are not very expensive, but if you are a small contractor and you go zero for five, it can definitely hurt your bottom line. So, while ServiceMagic can be a useful tool for finding new customers, it's important to be aware of the potential downsides before you start using it.
Disappointing Experience with ServiceMagic: Website Issues, Upselling, and Lawsuit Concerns
I gotta say, I had a pretty bad experience with ServiceMagic. I mean, I heard some good things about them, so I thought I'd give 'em a try. But man, was I disappointed.
First off, their website was a mess. It was hard to navigate and find what I was looking for. And when I finally did find a contractor I wanted to hire, the whole process was just a headache. They kept trying to upsell me on all these extra services that I didn't need or want.
But the real kicker was when I found out about the lawsuit against them. I mean, that's some serious stuff. Apparently they were doing all sorts of shady things, like cyber squatting and unfair competition. And it's not just some random person making these accusations - it's the United States Federal Court.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to do business with a company that's involved in that kind of stuff. So I definitely won't be using ServiceMagic again.
ServiceMagic Review: Not Worth the Money for Carpet Cleaning Businesses
I gotta say, I ain't too impressed with ServiceMagic. I run a carpet cleaning biz and let me tell ya, they ain't doin' us no favors. Maybe other companies have better luck, but for us, it's just a big ol' money pit. And the leads they send our way? Half the time they ain't even relevant to what we do. It's like they ain't even listenin' to what we need.
Now, I ain't sayin' the service is all bad. If they cut the prices they charge for leads in half, maybe it'd be worth it. But as it is, I'm spendin' way more than I'm makin' and it just ain't worth it. And don't even get me started on the liability insurance thing. They used to require it for cleaning companies, but now they don't? That's just plain dumb.
So, my advice? Don't waste your money on ServiceMagic. There's gotta be better options out there.
Beware of ServiceMagic: A Company That Steals from Customers and Ruins Businesses
ServiceMagic is a company that I had a really bad experience with. They took my money and did not provide the service that I paid for. They also removed my business phone number and replaced it with their own number. They even used my company name without my permission and put it on the internet. I was really upset when I found out what they had done.
I tried to file a complaint against them, but I have not gotten anywhere with it. I went to the governor's office and the attorney general's office, but they were not able to help me. I was not the only one who had a bad experience with ServiceMagic. There were many other consumers and contractors who were also ripped off by them.
The lawsuits against ServiceMagic were piling up and they still continued to play their old game with people's lives. They need to pay up and take responsibility for their actions. It is not fair that they can get away with stealing from people and ruining their businesses.
I would not recommend using ServiceMagic for any services. They are not trustworthy and they do not care about their customers. They only care about making money and taking advantage of people. It is important to do your research and find a company that you can trust. Do not make the same mistake that I did.
ServiceMagic Review: Overcharging Contractors and Frustrating Customers - Look Elsewhere for Reliable Contractors
ServiceMagic is a website that connects customers with contractors for various home improvement projects. However, there have been some issues with the company that have led to a big lawsuit. This lawsuit is due to ServiceMagic overcharging contractors, unlawfully charging cancelled accounts, creating false websites under the names of contracting companies, and more. These criminal and civil violations have caused a lot of problems for both contractors and customers.
One of the biggest issues with ServiceMagic is that they do not properly screen contractors. This means that customer experiences can be fairly random from contractors. While some contractors may do a great job, others may not be as reliable. This can lead to a lot of frustration for customers who are looking for quality work.
Another problem with ServiceMagic is that when there are issues with contractors, the company is rarely of any help. Despite their guarantees, they often do not provide any recourse for customers who have had bad experiences. This can leave customers feeling frustrated and helpless.
Unfortunately, we are not alone in having been massively overcharged by ServiceMagic. Many other customers have had similar experiences, and the only option for recourse is to take the company to court. This can be a long and expensive process, which is not something that most people want to deal with.
Overall, while ServiceMagic may seem like a good idea in theory, there are too many issues with the company to recommend them. From overcharging contractors to providing little help to customers, there are too many problems that need to be addressed. If you are looking for a reliable contractor, it may be best to look elsewhere.
Service Magic Contractors: Buyer Beware - A Review
I gotta say, I ain't too happy with the contractors I got from Service Magic. I used to use this site to find folks to fix up my crib, but not no more. You see, these contractors gotta pay to be on the site, so there ain't no real way to make sure they know what they're doing. When I was gettin' my kitchen remodeled, I had all sorts of folks callin' me up from my Service Magic request. Some of 'em were legit, but others were straight up frauds. I wouldn't recommend this site to nobody, but especially not to the ladies out there. You gotta be real careful with the contractors comin' from Service Magic.
Contractors Beware: My Experience with ServiceMagic
I gotta say, I had a real problem with ServiceMagic. I was doing my thing, providing top-notch service to all my customers, when one of them decided to complain to SM. Next thing I know, my account is cancelled! And get this, they didn't even bother to talk to me about it first. I mean, come on, I had paid them over $5000 for leads over the years and had built up a great reputation in my field. But no, they just cancelled me like it was nothing.
It wasn't until later that they called me up and admitted they made a mistake. But by then, the damage was done. And let me tell you, contractors, you don't want to mess with these guys. They don't care about you or your business. And to make matters worse, they'll keep using your company name and website even after they've kicked you to the curb (check out the lawsuit in the comments above). They'll do anything to point people toward their website and away from yours.
So yeah, I'm not a fan of ServiceMagic. If you're a contractor, I'd stay far away from these guys. They're not worth the hassle.
Disappointing Experience with JLP and ServiceMagic: A Warning to Homeowners
which is a big red flag. We tried to contact him to address the issues, but he never returned our calls or messages. It's disappointing to see that ServiceMagic, which claims to connect homeowners with trusted professionals, allowed this kind of service to be recommended on their platform.
It's important to do your own research and not solely rely on online reviews. While they can be helpful, they should not be the only factor in your decision-making process. It's also important to ask for references and proof of insurance and licensing before hiring any service provider.
Overall, our experience with JLP and ServiceMagic was a disappointment. We hope that ServiceMagic takes steps to ensure that only reputable and reliable service providers are recommended on their platform. As for JLP, we do not recommend their services and suggest finding a different cleaning and yard-service business.
ServiceMagic Review: Not Worth the Hassle for Established Companies
So, I gotta say, I was pretty skeptical when ServiceMagic kept calling me and asking me to sign up for their service. But, they were offering no sign up fees and all I needed was valid liability insurance, so I figured why not give it a try? I signed up in January 2011 and was told that there would be a charge for every contractor that received a "lead". Apparently, each lead would go to three contractors in our area and if it was an "exact match lead", it would cost more.
Well, on February 14th, we got our first and only lead and wouldn't you know it, it was an "exact match". I called the customer right away and tried to contact him again later, but he never got back to me. I called ServiceMagic to report the issue and told them I didn't expect to be charged for a lead that didn't pan out. They sent the customer an email and I got a reply saying he had found someone else. I told ServiceMagic that this wasn't going to work for me and that I wanted to cancel.
But, that's when things got really messed up. I was searching for my company online and found out that ServiceMagic had hijacked my Yahoo Local ad! They changed my phone number to their toll-free number and even changed my website link to their own. I couldn't believe it! And, to make matters worse, I found out that they had changed my original information on other sites where I had my company registered. I was so angry and frustrated. I still haven't been able to get everything corrected and it's been a real headache.
I think ServiceMagic might be okay for new companies that don't have a good web presence, but if you're already established, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm not sure how they managed to do what they did, but I don't think it's legal. And, I can't even imagine how much business we've lost because of it. I've spent hours on the phone with Yahoo trying to get everything straightened out and I had to agree to pay a monthly fee just to make sure no one can mess with my ad again. It's been a real nightmare.
So, all in all, I wouldn't recommend ServiceMagic. They might seem like a good deal at first, but they're not worth the hassle. And, who knows how many other companies they're doing this to without them even knowing it. It's just not right.

Disappointing Experience with Servicemagic.com: More Robocalls than Services
servicemagic.com is a website that offers services for homeowners and contractors. It used to be a great resource, but now it seems like it's mostly just a bunch of robocalls. I don't really see the value in it anymore.
One thing to watch out for is a number that keeps calling me: ***305. I've added it to my call blocker and reported it to NoMoRobo, but it's still annoying.
Overall, I'm not really impressed with servicemagic.com anymore. It used to be a good resource, but now it's just a hassle.
