with our expectations and they did not meet them
with our expectations and they did not meet them. The movers were also very unprofessional and did not handle our items with care. We had several items that were damaged during the move. Overall, we would not recommend Seventh Generation Moving & Storage to anyone. Save yourself the headache and find a different company.
This company is the worst
This company is the worst. They quoted me $2100 for my move, which included 30 boxes, a stationary bike, a Vespa scooter, and typical apartment furniture, as well as an elevator fee and a "long carry" fee. They said they would deliver in 3-5 days and arrive between 8-9 am. But they showed up at 1 pm and then told me it would be an additional $2800, including a $1000 binding fee. They didn't explain what that was, just that it was more cubic feet than quoted, plus an "other" fee of $81. The manager said it would take 2-7 days to arrive, but after 7 days, they hadn't even put our stuff on a truck. I had to spend $600+ on clothes for my wife and me so we could start our new jobs. After 12 days, they finally delivered, but then charged me another $75 for a "long carry" fee that they didn't tell me about. They hide fees and held our stuff hostage until I paid. They threatened to charge me $100/hour until I paid and even said they would charge me for storage if I couldn't pay. Don't use this company. They made me feel hopeless and mentally abused.
Seventh Generation Moving & Storage Complaints 2
Very bad moving experience
First, I need to say that I booked through a broker, and they share a bit of blame for the bad estimate.
HOWEVER, 7th Generation obviously did not communicate with the broker that hired them because when they arrived, they told me that the actual move cost would be $10,000 more than my quote. It was moving day, I had no other choice but to borrow the money and pay. The movers tried to compact things as well as they could which resulted in me ONLY paying $6,000 more than my quote, however the job was much bigger than they were planning for which resulted in a two day pack, putting me a day behind. The movers on this side had a great attitude, and I might even not be writing this review if things were not so bad on the other side. (Even though it felt like extortion.)
I thought that now 7th Generation was clear about the size of the move, and I had certainly paid for it. The driver showed up the morning he was supposed to, but no movers. They finally arrived about 2PM, three guys about 20 years old, and when they saw the job they refused to start until the next morning because it was too much. The next day they worked hard, one literally almost passed out from heat stroke, and because of the lack of people they did not put together the furniture as 7th Generation promised and I paid for. I had to insist that the driver help me get at least 60% of the plastic and moving blankets off and take them in his truck so that they didn’t leave all the garbage with me. (He wasn’t happy, but he did it.)
I had paid for a piano move, but the 3 guys would not move it, so 7th generation found 2 other guys who said they could do it. They showed up with no ramp and no specialized equipment, so I had to help them move the piano in. They could not put the piano back together, so I had to hire someone else to do it. At that point, I was just so thankful we got it in the house without damage.
Unfortunately, several other things were damaged. I let them know about three big items, but it’s been 19 days since the move, and I have yet to hear from anyone about reimbursement or the results of the insurance claim. They answered me at first, now they are just ignoring my calls and texts. Because they didn’t put the furniture back together, we have since discovered two other pieces that were damaged, and we still can’t find my son’s Playstation VR. At this point though, I’m going to stop wasting any more time and frustration about this move and let it go, but I wouldn’t feel right without warning others about my experience first.
Desired outcome: Reimburse for damages and overcharges.
This company should not be in business to care for people's treasured belongings! Poor attention to care, our belongings were damaged in packing onto a truck. Delivered with damaged Grandfather clock, damaged large entertainment center. They broke 2 legs off our entertainment center and then pushed it across our new homes wood flooring causing scratches and over $800 on damages to the floor. $350 damage to our old fashion popcorn maker that had never been used. Grandfather clock repairs of $350. Multiple crushed boxes, brand new plastic bins with damage to our belongings inside. Roughly $1500 additional damage done to our personal items. Driver even stated the truck was poorly packed. Boxes with fragile had heavy boxes, items into of them, crushing them. Have contacted company multiple times by phone, text and email. No response! Can't get them to help with cost of repair or replacement. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this moving company for any of your treasured belongings. No care, unqualified packers, and pure non concern from company.
Seventh Generation Moving did my move from California to Arkansas
Seventh Generation Moving did my move from California to Arkansas. Mayflower Relocation Services hired them to do it. I signed a contract that said it would cost $3.95 per cubic foot. But they charged me $6.12 instead. When they got to my house, they loaded my stuff and then charged me an extra $900. The contract said they couldn't charge me more if the furniture list stayed the same. But they did it anyway. They also took away a $300 AAA discount. They didn't give me my furniture until two weeks later. Some of it was broken, including my piano. They also didn't put together some of my furniture like they said they would.
