I had impulsively signed up for a Holistic subscription with an initial 30 day free trial on Shaw Academy
I had impulsively signed up for a Holistic subscription with an initial 30 day free trial on Shaw Academy. Upon signing up I was ensured that there would be NO CHARGE until the end of the 30 days. What do you know? Full charge of $44.99 minutes later on my PayPal account. I was immediately turned off and decided to cancel due to the LACK of transparency. To cancel I had to call a number provided (which I cannot find now) with a Ref#. They told me that they could not issue a refund because of the specific Ad I clicked on? But they would cancel my subscription at the end of the 30 days so I could continue to use the course I paid for - which I didn't even want to accept that offer. So I received a confirmation email to this effect. I forwarded this email to the Billing Department Email provided, and I got the whole speech again about no refund will be issued and an encouragement to continue using the course during the remainder of the subscription. WELL, now a month later I see a $69.99 charge from Shaw Academy. I immediately opened a case to dispute an UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE with PayPal. Good luck trying to find a customer service phone number because they are all not in service. So I forwarded the original email chain to the Shaw Academy PayPal email, also emailed the original billing department email and explained the whole situation and how I demanded an IMMEDIATE refund. I also found a message form on Shaw Academy and wrote the same thing, also attached the entire email chain to that message as well. This business is SKETCHY. Why is there no Customer Service phone number clearly listed? Apparently as of 2020 they are being investigated by Trustpilot regarding all similar issues customers are having with this "highly rated" company. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
I subscribed to Shaw Academy on 24th June for a 4-week free trial
I subscribed to Shaw Academy on 24th June for a 4-week free trial. Then I was unhappy with the experience since they kept on spamming messages and even called me when I didn't show up for online classes. So I tried to cancel the subscription. Apparently, you cannot cancel it from the website and you have to call a number to cancel. After waiting about 10 minutes on hold after calling this number, an automated voice said that my subscription has been cancelled. So I thought everything was resolved. But yesterday(2 months later), money from my account was taken out by Shaw Academy. When I checked my shaw academy account, the subscription is still active. This is a fraudulent activity and I found on paypal community that some other people have suffered from this fraudulent activity as well. Everything is wrong with Shaw Academy. Stay away from this website. You are better off using *** or other legit websites for online learning. I'm concerned why Paypal or anyone has put an end to this Shaw Academy fraud.
At the time of writing, I have talked to a manager from Shaw Academy but declined refund saying that my cancellation was incomplete. This is totally bull since I called them and cancelled it. However, they didn't send cancellation confirmation email to me so I can't prove that I cancelled the subscription. So I was just scammed $70 AUD and I suggest everyone to stay away from it. Some action needs to be seriously taken with this fraud education provider.
Anyway if you have already subscribed to the scam "trial" from Shaw Academy, go to your paypal settings > automatic payments> cancel Shaw Academy from the list. If you have used your credit card, call your bank ASAP or stop using your current credit card and get a new one from the bank. Stay safe everyone.
DO NOT JOIN! Terrible service. You can't pause classes at all. The option doesn't exist. Emails about buying course materials constantly barrage your inbox. They make it very hard to get out of a free trial. I had to call an international number multiple times and go through prompts. The program said my account was canceled three different times, and still I received 4 different charges on my credit card which I then had to dispute. Thankfully, Barclay had my back. I had even sent an email telling Shaw Academy I would dispute any charges, prior to the end of my free trial, and still they persisted in charging me. STAY AWAY.
I started off with 4 free weeks, then charged 69.99 which I knew I would have to do to continue; however; I also paid 54.99 twice in hopes of my certification already being paid for so i can get them and they applied my payments to some course materials I didn't even need. Then charged me 69.99 again, I requested to cancel for refund for misleading advertisement they then offered 4 more free weeks and certificates guaranteed (basically pitch a good sale pitch to keep me) I accepted and they immediately attempted to charge 69.99. They are still attempting to take 69.99 from my bank account which is now blocked because the bank states suspicious transactions from international company. Here is the kicker that has been about to request ALL funds back, they attempted two payments one called Shaw Academy and they switched the payment name BlueSnap now what is that? They did the attempt back to back for 69.99 all I wanted was my certificates for crystal healing and tarot reading but now I don't want nothing but my money back. I feel I have been scammed. P.s the people barely email you back and take forever to respond with a response clearly you do not want to hear if it's off topic
I am learning digital marketing professional certificate course created by Lovely Laura. The Course is very informative and interesting. Currently i am in module 1 lesson no 5 and i am enjoying learning this skill. Video content is quite awesome and the educator Laura is also awesome.. overall my experience is very satisfying. Love from assam to teacher Laura❤️
PLEASE READ. This is more for the business, but since your associated, I think you'd benefit from hearing this. Shaw Academy charged me for the Free course and wouldn't pay me my refund. Then while I was fighting to get my money back they pressured me to let them keep my money($194) in exchange for the courses. I just want my money back. I've been so upset and distressed about this, I haven't been able to continue the courses. If you know anything about this kind of practice going on you should do something about it. You've been a great teacher.
Under no circumstances should anyone sign up to this online education provider
Under no circumstances should anyone sign up to this online education provider. They make out that their courses are free for a short length of time but because they ask you to sign up by using a card even if you do cancel your membership within the allotted time they charge your card anyway! The hassle it takes to cancel is an outrage. When I did mine I had to cancel through them online as their was no number to call, I did just that but then found they had taken a payment from my card. I tried again to get in touch and was left with an automated number that spent most of the 7mins trying to get me to stay by offering me all sorts of deal. I came off the telephone completely confused as to whether I had actually cancelled or not. My next stop was email and what a performance that was. Every time I asked them to do something simple, I'd get an email back trying to sell me something else, it was very much no you don't want to do that, lets give you this free thing worth £100 instead. Err no thanks, I've spent the last few months trying to get my money back, given I didn't give them permission to take it out in the first place. I even had one of their customer service reps tell me technically it was my fault anyway for giving them my card details - Yep that's right I had to enter my card details to access the free course but its my fault I've been charged twice even when I cancelled following their own procedures within the supposedly free course element - Go figure! In theory I was told I would be getting a full refund back within 7 days, now I grant you I expected that to be 7 working days but we're 10 working days since that happened and still no refund. I emailed them again on Monday and was told I would hear back within 48hrs, still nothing from them. Whatever you do save yourself the hassle do not use Shaw Academy ever.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
I had gotten an email inviting me to try out 4 free classes for learning how to trade stocks and learn about cryptocurrencies. The invitation said FREE, so I watched half a video and really wasn't interested. Now Shaw academy is trying to charge me,What is going on? Why would I be charged $69.95 for something that is supposed to be free. Totally seems like a scam to me!
I paid a huge sum for annual membership and you still charge me huge sum for course materials. I am not happy at all with your organization. Also the pre-recorded classes can not be paused while attending class. On other similar classes I attended, you can pause video and continue from where u stop. I regretted sign-up for this.
This app is amazing I've used this for long time but right now I'm busy with some of work so I'm not using this app teachers are also very amazing over here.
Worst customer service. Broken promises and the platform worked for a while but not anymore. I have been trying to fix this issue but nobody answers in a proper manner. Not recommended at all.
I signed up for a 4 week free trial for a project management class on 11/15
I signed up for a 4 week free trial for a project management class on 11/15. When I signed up it asked for my credit card with the understanding that I could cancel anytime in my 4 week trial or be billed $79.99/mo afterwards if I would like to continue forward. The very next morning of 11/16 I had received two charges for $47.86. I immediately wrote to them saying there has been a mistake. Turns out when I downloaded the app I went to the upcoming class and there was a ppt available for download. I thought this was to review the upcoming class and what to expect. There was not a disclaimer anywhere about this being a billable item. I did not click any confirm button to make a purchase by downloading the item. I did not receive a receipt of purchase after I downloaded the item. They are now telling me that I purchased this item. As a web developer I know that the download will include if I clicked on a disclaimer or agreed to the purchase - however I have not received any further information on this. They are trying to offer me free months, however I have canceled my account on 11/17. I then received an email saying that I should sign back up and receive the same toolkit they billed me twice for now for FREE. I have reported this to ftp.gov/complaint as I do believe they are a scam company. They CAN offer refunds and they SHOULD. What they are doing is incredibly misleading and the fact that they can charge you without your approval or providing a disclaimer to make purchasers aware that they will be charged should be investigated immediately. IMPORTANT: If you have "canceled" your membership - be sure at the end of hitting Yes I would like to cancel 5-6 times there is a phone number that comes up and a student referral number. BE SURE TO CALL THAT NUMBER. RECORD THE CONVERSATION - I have seen reviews where people thought they canceled and were still billed.
So far I've learned a lot and have high hopes for completing the course. Instructor is educated and easy to understand. The app is easy to navigate.
I'm supposed to have 5 years free with everything included course kits and diploma. I can't start module 2 cause it wants me to reactivate my account which means I would be charged every month. When it's supposed to be free. I was really happy with everything until this happened, now I can't finish what I started with out paying for what they said was free.
I canceled this course last month mate ,can I get a refund azwel please
Best courses ever! I learned so much! The food you make is so delicious.

signed up for a 30 day trial of which on the 1st of December I decided It was'nt a great match for me at this time than I canceled online by clicking the red cancellation link. That link took me to a series of additional pages telling me not to give up on my goal ,,, and on and on. I belive it took me to about 5 or 6 pages just to *** cancel. Each page it leads you to it has cancel, than another offer. Finally on the last page it cancelled than gave me 5 digits( confirmation/reference code I guess) plus the number to call.
I called them to cancel and the lady offer me free tookit and told me there were sending the cerificate, mind you I never even had a chance to open their site and even see what the course look like or operate. But there were sending me a certificate. And I said NO i don't want nothing just want to cancel. She said the email will be sent to me to confirmation the cancellation. I never received the email. But the charge of $69.99 on my card. Called them again to refund my money since I never or will not be using the site. Representative told me they have never received my cancellation but she will send me the billing department email because you they can't be reached by phone. OKKKKKAy I hang up , waited 2 days no email, no email. I called them back again another representative helped that day. Stated it showed that I called and my refund was being processed and he was sending me the details through email. That never happened. Third time now calling and very frustruated I asked to get the biiling email over the phone, ofwhich he did. Email sent to billing. AUGUSTIN, the very first representative I talked was the one responding to my email. Letting me know I didn't cancel on time, ofwhich was a lie. I joined November 16 and I cancelled December 01. And on December 16 my card was charged $69.99. You do the math.
I'm still waiting for my refund and its December 24th.
This company will scam you! Dont d business with them
I registered with shaw today because i saw their ads that says free 4 week Excel online course
I registered with shaw today because i saw their ads that says free 4 week Excel online course. I saw it on Instagram. I clicked their name/profile picture. I was on their IG website. I clicked Learn More at the bottom and I was brought up on their main website. I registered my email and password, as well as my bank details. I received an email to download their app and I clicked and installed it. A pop up showed, i clicked eCertificate. An email received about toolkit, i clicked it. Then i received a text message from my bank that says they've temporarily blocked my card. I called them immediately. And viola! There was a charged from shaw of two Php299.99 which I was not notified of. I got stressed. I can't stop thinking how dare are they to steal money just by clicking something without any price on it. Like wth! Now, I am really trying hard to email to stop my subscription with them, delete my account and full refund my money. And you know what they said? They cannot refund because i already purchased it and its on their terms and conditions. I'm like, what did I purchased? You pop up something, make me click it, tell me that i need this and that but guess what? It is your way to steal money from our bank. Also, they even extended my trial up to 3 months instead of 30 days and give more complimentary. Like i don't need those. I demanded for full refund and cancellation of my account with shaw. I can't study on a academy that scams you. They say it's free and will just charge you after your trial period but nope, they charge you every click. Can someone help me to demand a full refund of my money? Can someone slap them with the words "cancel my subscription" and "give me back my money"? I need to call them as well as part of the final step of confirming that i cancelled my account with them like wth! Help me please. I just want to gain more knowledge this quarantine times, but i didn't expect this stressful situation would happen to me in order to get that "more knowledge" that i want. I've read what's written on every pop ups, emails, etc... But they just auto charge me for whatever i clicked.
I am quite disappointed by this
I am quite disappointed by this. I'm ashamed to say I did not research them before I signed up for the offer. I am certain they are vague for the purpose of misleading those who sign up and "forcing " them to carry on with course they don't particularly want. I've got a feeling that even if I had canceled in a timely manner, I still would have lost money somehow. They assure you when you sign up that they will remind you about the cancellation window. It's also on the membership page which has a countdown and when you go to cancel the subscription. But the next page alerts you that you will not be able to continue the trial classes even though that is what was offered. I also bought the bonus material ($40) since it came highly recommended as a good supplement but that is also no longer available if you cancel the subscription before the classes are complete. By the way, the bonus material is not really necessary unless you are DEFINITELY continuing to take the course. They bombard you with hard-sell emails and SMSs throughout the trial period, but not one of them is a reminder about the cancellation window as promised. It said I had one day left to cancel which was the day I took the last lesson and the day they also released the last portion of the bonus material I paid for. They quickly debited my account that same day for $70 and told me I was too late even though I had checked my account and the countdown the day before. It said one day left and of course it was the day I took the last lesson. I find that interesting. I am sorry I didn't cancel sooner as I felt like doing 3 days prior. I checked my email very thoroughly because I get many emails that I have to categorize and so I did some digging before the cancellation and after and I did not see anything resembling a reminder notice. I am not taking any of their courses. The course was good and I was glad I took it but it's not something I want to continue to explore as a career path. I followed through with the full module of 8 lessons and maybe I'll make my money back with the bit of knowledge I have. But I don't recommend them. I don't like the way they do business.
My experience is similar to all the others posted here - DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING WITH THIS HORRIBLE PLACE
My experience is similar to all the others posted here - DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING WITH THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. I landed a new job as a Project Manager and saw an ad for Shaw come through social media. I joined the free 4 week trial, knowing that due to COVID-19, I had been unemployed for over 3 months (I'm a contractor so no unemployement) and I wanted to up my skills. I had good intentions however as I love to learn and thought I would follow this course through once I started getting a paycheck. The courses are not ONLINE - they are scheduled a horrible times, you get texts and emails and "YOU MISSED YOUR CLASS" and way too much communication. When I was able to attend one class, I realized you can only take them 1 per week or something so to finish the course, of course they will take your money. I decided to cancel just five days after the supposedly FREE 4 week trial started and they make you call in to speak to a person. It's funny how you can call someone when you want to cancel but you can't reach someone when they've charged you fraudulently. I spoke with "Lannice" from "customer service" and she tried to talk me into keeping the membership, I refused and requested an email confirmation and that I wouldn't get charged. She confirmed that I was cancelled and would not be charged but that if I changed my mind I could just reactivate my account. I have the email. This was 5/26. Today, 6/20 I was charged $34.99. I have replied to Lannice's email 5 times, written a Customer Complaint Form on their site, used their so called "Chat" feature on their website, messaged them on Facebook and someone named AMELIA is now sending me an email saying that "she's sorry to hear that I didn't cancel my membership correctly but she's happy to tell me that they have extended my benefits for 6 months - happy studying!" I have worked in customer service and this is the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. THe $34.99 came out of my account this morning when I had less than $80 to my name to feed my son and I until my first paycheck on June 30th. This is stealing, fraudulent and not acceptable. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS COMPANY - they are SCAMMERS!
It's unfortunate that you cannot leave a ZERO star review
It's unfortunate that you cannot leave a ZERO star review. Shaw Academy is a SCAM. Shaw Academy uses deceptive practices in regards to "Free Trials" and one-click purchases. After signing up for the 4 week "Free Trial", I have lost $39.95 to a deceptive once-click purchase for their toolkit or certificate via a pop-up that completely blocked the course information page. You cannot simply exit out of the pop-ups. They employ the fault and deceptive practice of making it so that the "X" to exit out of the pop-up is the same as clicking on the ad itself. After clicking on the "X" to exit out of the pop-up, I found that it did not actually close out but that I ended up automatically losing $39.95 for a "toolkit". That in and of itself is worthless. I have also been inundated with text messages and emails to purchase more courses and the "diploma/certificate" for the course that I originally signed up for. I have demanded a refund as well as canceling my membership. Only the cancellation of my membership has been addressed so far. I have filed a dispute with PayPal over the fraudulent one-click purchase, but so far that has been denied. I am now filing an appeal for that purchase. I am also contacting the credit card company through which the charge was done through PayPal to see if they can help with a refund due to fraudulent practice or at the very least, put Shaw Academy on notice for their fraudulent practices. I left a review on TrustPilot as well and only received an "automatic" reply from Shaw, where I then have to contact them yet again but through a different email address just so I can demand the refund that they owe me. Shaw Academy recruits a bunch of people from India to write fake 5 star reviews for them to try to cover up the actual bad reviews they get, and many of those reviews clearly are fake and make no sense. There are a bunch of 4 and 5 star reviews here as well, that I guarantee are fake as well. As I type this, I have received 2 more text messages from Shaw Academy trying to get me to pick a plan and get "free" course material with it. This company is nothing but a SCAM. I will be blocking them via text and email, but not until after I get my refund back.
The free trial is pointless, because once you schedule when you want to view the classes they are scheduled for a week later, so you will not
The free trial is pointless, because once you schedule when you want to view the classes they are scheduled for a week later, so you will not have time to complete a course within the trial period. Their site and app is filled with click bait, single click purchase pop ups. Example, I clicked the one advertising that I could get access to the full course on my own time, and instead of taking me to an informational page explaining benefits and pricing, I was immediately charged the 69.99 membership fee. I contacted them and of course was unable to get my money back. I was able to get through the first module just fine, but then the second module I got through the first 3 videos and the rest were 'being updated'. I contacted them again, the first response stated that since I'm taking a new course, they're working as fast as they can to get the videos up, and the second response said they were doing an update to the app and were working to resolve some bugs. A few days later, all the videos were available. Now I am running into the same issue with the third module. They are making me schedule the classes, and although I can change the date of when I would like to view the course, if I miss it I now have to wait for that video to be 'updated'. These are pre-recorded, and supposedly the course was available for me to join 'live' at my scheduled time, so why isn't the recording available the next day? The app is terrible, besides the pop ups trying to click bait you (I have paid for the subscription, but still receive welcome messages and prompts to reactivate my subscription), it does not show which lessons I have completed, and the assignments don't update after you've taken them. I've actually had to complete assignments again on a desktop because the app will not register that I've completed the assignment. And then after that, the app still won't update. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times to get it to sync with my account. The course I'm taking does have some pretty good content, but this game they're playing is exhausting. Customer service has been responsive to e-mails, but they won't give you your money back after tricking you out of it, and who knows if they actually fix anything when a complaint is lodged.
This company exploits you and tries to get as much money out of you as possible
This company exploits you and tries to get as much money out of you as possible. Here is my experience with them, in detail.
As many know, companies such as Amazon, Adobe, and others, will automatically refund your payment if you cancel your subscription within a week (sometimes more) of payment. I signed up for a free trial, and the day after it ended (the MOMENT I was charged) I canceled. Here is what the cancelation process is like:
I had to click through pages of guilt tripping, confusing text to finally get to a page which told me that I needed to CALL to cancel, which is bizarre. I called and again had to listen to at least 15 minutes of guilt tripping and begging before I could finally cancel. I had to keep pressing specific keys to move forward. I cannot express just how unprofessional and exploitive this practice is. They said things such as "if you want to waste this opportunity and give up on your education, press 2" over and over again. Had I been someone less technologically adept, or someone who does not speak English well, it may have been impossible for me to cancel at all.
Next, since I was worried about getting my 70 dollars back, I emailed support with this message:
I signed up for a free trial and completed it. Upon being charged the day that my free trial ended, I cancelled my subscription. I was charged $69.99 and have not used anything that I payed for since I immediately canceled the subscription. Due to the current situation with Covid-19, I am in a difficult financial situation and this charge impacts my life. I would like to make sure that I will recieve a refund. Thank you for your time, ***.
Here is the email I recieved in response:
Hi ***,
Thank you for reaching out to us. I have personally reviewed your account and found the following details:
The subscription has been initiated as a 4-week free trial.
It was not cancelled during the trial period, so the payment was processed.
These terms are stated and accepted before account creation.T&C please see sections 4 and 5.
We are unable to process subscription refunds unfortunately after the trial expiry, as per the terms and conditions.
Sure it's legal, and sure if I had been more careful I could have avoided the payments, but their practice is extremely unprofessional and exploitive. I stronly reccomend another online course website. There are many which are much more reputable.
MY ADVICE- Do not sign up for "school
MY ADVICE- Do not sign up for "school". This is a scam-
I cancelled my "subscription" the day AFTER I signed up. I called and canceled. Sent email follow ups to make sure this "subscription" was cancelled and requested my initial fee of $43.11 was refunded to my credit card. I finally received my refund of $43.11 on January 25.
February 2- Shaw Academy charged my $52.81 - Please note I called and cancelled this "subscription" January 5.
February 3 - I have requested my refund- sent copies of the correspondence with the representative and their response is that I didn't cancel during the "trial Period" ( I cancelled the DAY AFTER i signed up for this mess). so now they offer this " we are providing you
with 6-months access absolutely free which is now activated in your account." - NOPE NOT EVER! I replied asking for my refund and sent the correspondence to them again.
February 4- I have received a response from the 2/3 request stating the following: "We are very sorry to learn that you have been charged even after attempting to cancel
or sending a cancellation request. The cancellation process was not completed either by following all the steps in your account or by calling the given number (within working hours) shown at the end of the cancellation journey. Hence, your subscription was still active and you were charged for the subscription renewal.
To start with a good note, for the amount you have been charged, we are providing you
with 12-months access absolutely free which is now activated in your account."
BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE... "We can confirm your membership is scheduled to cancel after the extended membership period thus ensuring no further payments will be processed."
SO ...I AM GOING TO ATTEND A "SCHOOL" WHERE THE ADMINISTRATION DOES NOT READ ( one email states that I did indeed call the school) NOR COMPREHEND. SECONDLY, I AM GOING TO ATTEND THESE "FREE" CLASSES AND THEN YOU WILL CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION! NOPE NOT EVER- WHEN *** FREEZES OVER!
As I have stated in my return email to them -
I will ask my credit card company to deny these charges as they are fraudulent.
I will notify PayPal that your company is running a scam charging AFTER cancellations.
I do not want to participate now or in the future with your organization.
I will make sure I spread the word that this is a scam-
DO NOT SIGN UP- DO NOT ATTEND- THIS IS NOT A LEGITIMATE ORGANIZATION-
I signed up for the 4 week free trial from Shaw Academy after my mother suggested it to me
I signed up for the 4 week free trial from Shaw Academy after my mother suggested it to me. She saw an ad for it on instagram/facebook for cosmetology courses. I signed up for the trial and was told I wasn't going to be charged until my 4 weeks was up. So I'm thinking "Okay sounds convenient, if I don't like the course then I can just cancel" right? Wrong. I had $0.00 in my account at the time so it was perfect for me to sign up for the trial and if I liked it by that time the trial was up I would have enough money for the course. They charged my card a few hours after I signed up in the total of $39.99. So I was out and about when it happened but I got a notification saying they charged me and immediatly was frazzled. Why would they charge me after telling me I get 4 free; FREE weeks. So I got home took a class and I didn't like it. I have just had a baby so my time is taken up by my baby, I don't get free time. I tired to work it in my schedule anyway. I finally got the time to contact them, which by the way finding a phone number and finding a way to speak TO A HUMAN BEING is ABSOLUTE ***. I searched everywhere for a phone number and finally found one (*** ( That number is now disconnected)) I spoke to someone and let them know 1. I was charged for something I wasn't supposed to be charged for. and 2. I don't have time because I have a baby and cant find the time to sit down and actually take the classes. The man I spoke to told me he understood how that can be and would cancel my subscription. AFTER offering me for more products and I refused that is. I had to wait for the transaction to post which took too long and eventually I forgot about it. I don't use that debit card I use my credit card so that's why. Well after I went through the website and thought I cancelled everything It's weeks later and they still tried to take money from me. THEY GOT ME TODAY 04/02 at 12:09 pm EST they pulled $69.99 of my card when I was in the process of sending money to my sister. My account is now overdrawn and I am *** THE *** OFF because if I CANCELLED why THE *** am I still being charged? excuse my language but you have to understand my frustration. I already am not working because of the pandemic and I'm a single parent. So when something like this happens is really nerve wracking. I will never sign up for anything online again and I will be cancelling my card and I better get my money back ! I will be taking legal actions.
DON'T SIGN UP FOR THE 4-WEEK TRIAL FROM SHAW ACADEMY!
DON'T SIGN UP FOR THE 4-WEEK TRIAL FROM SHAW ACADEMY! STAY AWAY FROM SHAW ACADEMY! I believe that the company should be investigated in regards to how they run their business. The language that they used to sell their products is quite misleading to consumers and they don't make it easy to cancel or opt out of a free trial even though we have multiple existing examples where this is not an issue with other companies or learning platforms. I had signed up for their free trial to try out one of the courses offered and I was trying to cancel the trial subscription way ahead of the trial end date. The process of cancelling is also confusing with the cancellation button greyed out during the process making it really hard to see. This is deceptive when you are trying to navigate through the process and making consumers think that the only choices that they have would be to select one of the options that they can actually see. The process was filled with asking multiple times whether I was sure I wanted to cancel, but not before being presented with multiple free add ons and offers to extend the free trial period. It wasn't until I spoke with someone on the phone after emailing twice to find out that they ONLY would CONSIDER a cancellation and/or a refund for accounts that are in the "trial" status. I had tried to explain to them that during the process of me cancelling and confirming multiple times that I wanted to cancel, I had dropped my phone. When I picked it up, I noticed that I was switched over to a "lifetime" subscription with nothing else on the screen. There was no switch/change account type option, nothing. I was told repeatedly over the phone that they won't be able to issue a refund, which I still can't understand why if I had expressed that I've tried to platform and it wasn't for me. I don't see myself using it beyond the trial period and it wouldn't be beneficial for me even if I was to keep it. They said that the only thing that they can do is to offer a couple of free add-ons to my account so that "I won't feel like my money is wasted". I mentioned that I was going to file a dispute with my banking institution and the tone on the phone instantly changed...trying to tell me that the process will take at least 3 - 6 months and even if the complaint has been filed, it's not a guarantee that anything would happen or that I would get my money back, saying all the things to try and get me NOT to file a dispute...in his "personal opinion". I've filed a dispute with my bank and now I'm just waiting to hear back, I hope this helps anyone who is even considering signing up! Just don't do it!
Shaw Academy doesn't even deserve one star
Shaw Academy doesn't even deserve one star. I came across this organization via social media and their promotion for their free trial. Before signing up, all information I read gave great emphasis that you will be notified a few days prior to your free trial ending. This disclaimer was the reason why I decided to sign up. I figured I wanted to learn a few things about photography since I was home more due to COVID-19. If I didn't like it or use it, they guaranteed I would receive notice of my free trial ending so I could cancel at that time without losing money. I ended up not utilizing the program. I did not sign onto any courses. Shaw Academy sent numerous texts and some emails reminding me of upcoming courses or missed courses. However, none of these correspondents addressed my free trialing coming to an end. I finally decided to log on and saw my free trial had ended. I went through all the text and emails and did not come across one reminder notification of my trial ending. I then went to my account and called customer service just to go through all the automated obstacles to cancel the service. A few weeks later I get one random email from Shaw Academy stating I missed a class. I was confused because I cancelled and had not received any notifications from them in some weeks. I also checked my bank transaction history and saw I was recently charged $69.99. At this point this was the second time I was charged $69.99. I log back in expecting to see my subscription status as cancelled, instead my status said active. I go through their ridiculous automated phone service to cancel the subscription and this time I signed back in to confirm the status had changed to cancelled. I finally found an email for their billing department and explained my ordeal. After a few days I got some generic response saying I did not cancel prior to my free trial ending and unfortunately they could not refund my money. They offered some unwanted free courses of my choice, claimed to be worth $399. Lesson learned about these "free trials." They charged me $69.99 twice. I never received a notification stating my free trial was ending as they so persistently advertised in their promotion. The first charge I was willing to let go of because I hadn't cancelled, even though they failed to notify me. The second charge should have been refunded because I did cancel and I find it strange that somehow their records indicate otherwise. I did some more research and discovered Shaw Academy lost their accreditation in 2019, no surprise. Do not waste your time and money subscribing to this "Academy." You're better off enrolling in a program offered by a traditional college/university or exploring your hobbies on your own.
Normally, I research things properly before i commit to signing up for anything but i did not do so when i signed up with Shaw Academy
Normally, I research things properly before i commit to signing up for anything but i did not do so when i signed up with Shaw Academy. I only read the reviews after the fact and after registering my PayPal account as a method of payment with them. After seeing so many complaints , I started to panic...I carefully read the Terms and Conditions and I saw that if you use a third party ( such as PayPal) as payment method you have to cancel the membership through the said third party. Basically to take Shaw Academy off Auto Renew with PayPal. Which I did immediately for fear of being charged without notice like other ppl have been. I was also receiving( like a lot of ppl here) a bunch of text messages from Shaw Academy but all I had to do was opt out and they never bothered me again with a text. Same thing with the e-mails. At the end of the free trial , i decided to reactivate my PayPal payment with them because, to be honest, i did like the classes and I was getting the info that I needed. After being charged the agreed membership fee, 2 days later an unauthorized charge of $39.99 posted on my PayPal. I checked my billing history on my profile page with Shaw Academy and sure enough i had an invoice there for that amount for an "Ecert". E- Certificate that i never purchased . I wrote Customer Support an e-mail as was indicated and i received an e-mail back saying that a rep. will be in contact with me within 48 hours. When it was getting closer to the end of those 48 hours and yet i was waiting for somebody to contact me, I picked up the phone and called them. A very nice customer service rep. , named Catherine, answered and told me that she will rely the message to her managers and somebody will be in touch soon. She also offered me an extra 28 days of the course for free for the inconvenience. She told me that if nobody solves the issue soon , I can e-mail her back . I had little hopes of any resolve , knowing other ppl's experiences but I was wrong. Nobody contacted me but one day later i had a refund from Shaw Academy, which was nice and fast so ... Yes, it is not nice that i was charged for something I didn't purchase but for me at least, getting a refund was a fairly easy process. If a situation like this happens again, i will simply cancel my membership through PayPal but i really hope I don't have to get to that point again because, how i said, i like the classes , i think it is good info , it is affordable and easy to work around my schedule... My advice to other students that have similar issues with this company and want to cancel - read the Terms and Conditions. If you paid through PayPal or any other third party( which I highly recommend for your protection) , cancel trough them, take Shaw Academy off Auto Renew and you won't have to deal with anything else. If you don't like the multiple texts and e-mails from the Academy, simply opt out of both and again you shouldn't have any issues anymore...I agree it shouldn't get to that point and being charged extra for things without your consent it's not a good way to do business and it does not emanate trustworthiness but that's something that the Company has to deal with. They probably lost and will lose a lot of clients by doing this but... I would say, IF you are getting something out of these classes, if it betters you on some level, if you enjoy the materials ...just don't give up. If issues like these appear repeatedly , then by all means, cancel , do what is best for you...but don't give up from the first issue that apparently can be solved and you get some freebies on top of it :)) One more thing... i see ppl have issues with the new version of the app and also with clicking by mistake on purchasing course materials ... If you have the possibility, use a laptop, desktop or even a tablet for your classes. I never had any issues not being able to watch or hear a class. The screen being bigger makes it easier to click on the X and not accidentally purchase tings too...

Signed up for classes with Shaw Academy and immediately cancelled and requested a refund - same day same time- with them and then also with PayPal. Opened a case with PayPal resolution center (on-line) to stop payment to Shaw Academy on 12/28 - same day I signed up with Shaw Academy and submitted a refund with them too - I have the emails to support same day request for cancellation. Here is a copy of the email: ***@yahoo.com To: Shaw Academy Mon, Dec 28, 2020 at 2:34 PM I started a cancellation process - I received an email with code # XXXXXXX. I looked at the time table, the only time I see that sort of corresponds with Texas USA time would be GMT, I think. Also, at PayPal- I have completed a request for "submitting an issue" and messaged them the steps I have taken in the cancellation process with Shaw Academy and described the next step I planned to take. In that message, I included the instructions from the FAQ help site at Shaw Academy to contact "***@shawacademy.com". When I entered into the browser for the support page- I found nothing that matches that address-only to be shown the "[protected]@shawacademy" website once again and which I already went to & utilized. Now I see from the FAQ to also go to "***@shawacademy.com" ( in order to receive a refund) - whilst using the registered email I used for registration - along with some other instructions - 1) a screenshot of receipt & bank statement 2) for payment used with PayPal please share the "email ID used for PayPal" . What is the "email ID" ? Is that the email I use to receive my information from PayPal? Please advise what else needs to happen to verify the complete refund of charges already submitted/transpired and the verification that the cancellation has been processed/completed - along with confirmation that there will be no further charges to me in the future. Thank you *** Show original message As you can see in the message I mention that I have already submitted a stop/cancel payment with Pay Pal and made a prior submission for cancellation/refund with Shaw Academy - and as I research and read about the various ways to perform this request - I update my information with them and request help to perform this submission completely and correctly because at different points on their website (like the FAQ) seems to be confusing and jumbled up. As you can tell by the copy of my submitted email above. Here is another copy of an email sent in reply to their message on my email ab Hc *** Dec 28, 2020, 19:26 GMT I started the cancellation process - when I clicked on the "cancel or pause subscription" - it took me to another page and that page was blank - I refreshed the page and still blank - logged out and went through the process once more - same results. No page came up with a phone number to verify the cancellation - I am submitting here in writing that I am cancelling my subscription - if more needs to happen please email me at : ***@yahoo.com - thank you, blessings & stay safe There is supposed to be a phone number to call (that gets sent in an email) to verify the cancellation/refund - which so far no message like that had come to me. Once I wrote to them that I read about their status on the ComplaintsBoard.com and informed them that I would be moved to file a complaint with the ComplaintsBoard.com should a refund be denied to me - all their direct communications seemed to cease. There is more emails and correspondence- I would share them all - I just don't know how to do it - I thought I could drag and drop somehow .. perhaps I can add some later if I can get some help on how to do that . Last correspondence I had with Shaw Academy: sent Jan X XXXX ***@yahoo.com Hello again - I am (once more) requesting a refund - I "immediately" requested cancellation & refund after initially signing up - literally. The payment had yet to clear my account from PayPal. I have looked at the ComplaintsBoard.com (ComplaintsBoard.com) and am ready to file a complaint - and inform PayPal too of my intentions and actions. Please send a full refund.

Repeatedly refusing to cancel account and continuing to charge me. They now use BLUESNAP payments so Shaw Academy doesnt show up on your bill and you have to dig around to find who charged you. Super shady and I have been arguing with them for MONTHS now to cancel my membership there are many complaints about them - can't something more serious be done? totally dishonest business obviously
ShawAcademy an learning platform has charged money from my account without my consent. When I sent them an email to give me with some clarification. I found out that the reply I've received is very similar to the one that other people also got. Which is this "You had reactivated your free trial subscription on August 21, with the offer of 28 days extra trial. Your trial then restarted from this date onward and since you did not cancel during, payment was processed on 20 September for the membership renewal as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership. " The statement about "reactivated your free trial" doesn't make any sense to me because from my what I remember, i've rejected those offer many times and certain that I've deactivate this account before the trial expires. However, it seems liek my account got reactivated without me knowing and then charged.
On August 26, I purchased a Groupon offered through Live Online Academy. The Groupon cost 19.99 plus tax and was called an Online Nutrition Course from Live Online Academy (Up to 96% Off) - Online accredited diploma in sports nutrition. Purchased on August 26 Expires: November 24, There's actually an EXPIRY DATE COMING UP AND I AM UNABLE TO REGISTER! I have tried multiple times to access the course and the Groupon code is not recognized. I have attempted to contact shaw academy through email with NO replies. This is a scam. Unbelievable that these crooks can continue to steal from people so blatantly. They should be prosecuted. I want a refund.
9/29 I was using my account. And next to the lessons there are ads on the side that say "get your diploma." When i tap on it to learn more, my cardvalet app notified me of a purchase. I DID NOT enter my info for this purchase. I also did not confirm this purchase. Shaw is refusing refund. Willing to record and recreate my experience to show how scammy their site is built. They should not be trusted with financial info.
Multiple attempts at cancelling subscription made, still charged twice
Multiple attempts at cancelling subscription made, still charged twice. Automated responses from all customer service avenues. I signed up for the free trial of their online graphic design course on 23/03. For a free course I was satisfied with the level of instruction, so I attended the lessons. I received at minimum two emails a day of mostly advertising. Every lesson also mentioned several times that students would have access to discount codes for 15% off purchasing Adobe software once those free trials ran out. I put up with this aggressive marketing during the free trial but decided the lessons were not worth paying for, so I selected the "Remind Me Later" feature on the cancellation page a few weeks into the course, but I received no such reminder. On 20/04 my credit card was charged $69.99 by Shaw Academy. At this point I was mostly annoyed at myself for not following up on my cancellation earlier. I contacted ***@shawacademy.com on 22/04 to voice my complaint. Their support site points students to email support for access to the promised Adobe codes, so in my email I requested information on how to access the codes. I got an automated email right away giving my query an ID number (#XXXXXXX) and which stated that support staff would address the concern within 48 hours. On 28/04, well over 48 hours later, I finally received a response which was clearly also automated. The email opens as if I had recently purchased a Tool Kit (which I had not). It goes on to say that it would give access to the other Tool Kits in compensation and that this would be activated on my account (which is not the case). Since this first subscription charge could be argued to be my fault for forgetting to cancel in time, I did not push too much. I did not use the service for a few weeks because it was a stressor that I wanted to avoid thinking about for the time being. In the final week of this subscription month I went back to watch the recorded lessons. There were fewer of them in this Module (6 as opposed to 8 in the trial) and in reading the lesson plans I knew I did not want to continue. I watched the lessons I thought might be interesting which lessened my feelings that anything was amiss as they are providing the service I begrudgingly paid for. Figuring the next withdrawal date would be 18/05, on Saturday 16/05 I went online to watch a few more videos before cancelling the subscription. My previous visits to the cancellation page involved clicking through pages where they try to sway you against cancelling and losing access to the site, and I had previously stopped on the "Remind Me Later" page. This time I had to click through a few more pages that then brought me to a page that says that I have to call +X XXX XXX XXXX to confirm my cancellation, with an account reference #XXXXX. The call center hours are 11am-8pm EST Mon-Fri so I could not cancel on the weekend. May 18 that I was to be charged was a Holiday Monday in Canada, so the lines were closed yet I was of course still charged $69.99. The next morning 19/05 I called at 11:57 am, before my scheduled 1pm course so that I could argue that I had not used the service yet. It was a 5-minute phone call with an automated voice where I "pressed 2 to cancel" about 5 times. My reference number was never asked for, but I was told I would receive an email confirming the cancellation (which I have not received). I used the phone number registered to my account, but otherwise no information was collected. On 21/05 I received an email from "William", the "head of Education at Shaw Academy" noting that I had missed this week's lessons that I was enrolled in. This is the same generic format as all their previous communications. The emails always suggest replying to them with any questions or concerns, so I did. On 22/05 I outlined my complaints in a email to "William". This time I did not even receive an auto-reply that it had been received. I waited a few business days, still no response. I called once more today (28/05) and heard hold-music for over 30 minutes before I finally gave up.

I canceled my subscription and haven't even visited this website in months. I'm living in my car my aunt sent me money for food and gas and I have 50 cents left in my account. Immediately after she sent the money they charged me 69.99. There Is no number to call I haven't ate anything for 32 hrs now and I cannot believe this has happened. I'm not receiving any response from them.
I signed up for shaw Academy because it sounded like a good idea to get some nutrition certificates that I wanted. The company charged my PayPal the $70 monthly fee 2 days in a row. I called and canceled my account on April 6 of this year and they said they would refund me one of the months and give me an entire year free. I have still yet to get a refund or any of the coursework for free. In between at least 25 emails and multiple phone calls back-and-forth they have told me for months and months I would be getting a refund. They had me send them my PayPal, my bank account, my Information, and I still haven't received anything back and our last correspondence was a couple days ago. This has been ongoing for over 4 months now. My PayPal is suspended because of them, and they just continue to tell me my refund is coming. I'm done waiting. I haven't been able to use my PayPal in months. Please help.
My daughter, who was a high school kid, was trying to sign up for the 4-week free trial of an online course offered by Shaw Academy last year on 17 July (using her email ID : ***@gmail.com). After she filled in required info, she then realized that the course did not fit into her time schedule. So she cancelled her registration right away. However, without any prior notification or email confirmation to me or my daughter, Shaw started charging to my VISA a monthly fee of $69.99 in Aug 2020 until Aug2021. During this period, there wasn't any email nor other type of communication that informed my daughter that she had been registered as a premium member, nor update/promo on course offers. My daughter wasn't aware that her membership with Shaw Academy was still active at all. Basically, the Academy had ZERO communication with her before and after the end of the free trial period in Jul 2020. This is really tricky, sneaky n unacceptable! So I want a refund of all the fees paid !
On 05/03, I made a payment of $41.99 to have a hard copy of my diploma mailed to me. Upon checking my bank statement I was charged 5 times. I contacted shaw and was refused a refund and had to process a claim through my bank. I contacted shaw via email numerous times and was assured that I would receive the diploma that I paid for within 30 days of my payment. Four months later my account with Shaw academy has been shut down and I have not received my diploma that I paid monthly fees and completed my courses for. I would appreciate a full refund of the fees that I have paid to shaw academy and a refund for my diploma that they refuse to send to me. I would also like compensation for my time lost.
Unauthorised payment of £49.99 made to Shaw Academy, despite cancelling my free trial within the trial period
Unauthorised payment of £49.99 made to Shaw Academy, despite cancelling my free trial within the trial period. They refuse to give me my money back. On the 17th April I signed up to a Shaw Academy course. This course was part of a free 4 week trial, after this period I would begin to get charged £49.99 if I did not cancel my membership with Shaw Academy. When signing up to Shaw Academy it states numerous times that there were "No commitments", "You won't be charged if you cancel before (insert end of free trial date)." and "If you don't cancel before the trial ends on (insert end of free trial date), you will automatically be charged the subscription fee of £49.99 every 4 weeks until you cancel." It also states in Shaw Academy's Terms and Conditions, "We will bill any Payment Method provided by You for your monthly membership fee at the end of the free trial period unless you cancel your membership prior to the end of the free trial period." On the 21st April , 09:34am BST, I called Shaw Academy on XXXX XXX XXXX. After speaking with a Shaw Academy employee, who was very reluctant to cancel my membership, he finally confirmed that my membership would be cancelled. Due to cancelling my membership during the free trial period I would not be charged £49.99 the following month. I received a cancellation confirmation email the same day stating "your membership with Shaw Academy has now been cancelled". On the 15 May , I received a notification from my bank and PayPal account stating that a payment of £49.99 had been made to Shaw Academy. To my surprise my membership status was still active (despite cancelling the membership on the 21st April). An unauthorised payment was made to Shaw Academy, due to a verbal and written agreement, that my membership would be cancelled on the 21st April, being broken. I complied with Shaw Academy's Terms and Conditions and cancelled my membership only 4 days into the free trial period, not using any of the resources provided to me within this free trial as I was not happy with the amount of harassment I was receiving from Shaw Academy (phone calls, emails, etc). I emailed ***@shawacademy.com on the 15th April , 11:33am BST, with my complaint and a request for a full refund of £49.99. I provided them with evidence of the cancellation (a screenshot of the email and phone call). Shaw Academy responded to my email and referenced my complaint with the ID number #XXXXXXX. Shaw Academy stated in their reply on the 15th April , 17:05pm BST, that "All aspects of this were made clear at registration, within your member's area and via communications. Since you did not cancel during your trial/billing period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership." I responded to Shaw Academy the same day at 18:42pm, BST, that I had provided them with sufficient evidence of cancelling within the free trial period and re-read the terms and conditions to find that I had complied fully by cancelling within the free trial period. I requested a full refund of £49.99 again. On the 18th May , 15:29pm, BST, Shaw Academy responded to my email, "I have personally reviewed all information and found that you had subscribed using your debit/credit card/payment method and availed of a 4-week free trial after which payment would be made unless cancelled. All aspects of this were made clear at registration and on the payment details page. Since you did not cancel during your trial period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership agreed by you on the registration page." They also went on to reassure me that "The first thing I have confirmed that your membership is cancelled thus ensuring no further payments will be taken." They also went on to state that I now had 6 months access totally free of charge worth $399. In another response from Shaw Academy on the 19th May, 14:51 BST, they change their reason for charging me as due to "subsequent payments related to it", they then proceed to offer me 12 months access worth $699, "totally free".

I had signed up for the free trial and then got charged for a three month subscription which I didn't want. Then I emailed kept getting no resolution from the financial team as I never got a response back. I was able to log in and cancel with them but got charged for another 3 months. 139.00$ two times. I would just like to have my refund back.
Last year Dec 2020. I requested to never be charged again from them and to cancel all subscription. They proceeded to not warn me that $413 was going to be withdrawn from my bank account. I specifically told them I didn't want any more charges and to cancel my subscription and refund me this amount. They proceeded to respond that this was non refundable.
I took advantage of a 4 free course offer from Shaw Academy and they took advantage of having possession of my credit card information. I called and cancelled immediately KNOWING I did not want further courses at this time. I have since been billed three months in a row. I have written many times. They keep saying they tried to call but couldn't reach me...maybe because I have a friggin job. I look at the account and it's not active. Andk then in looking at account I see another charge for a toolkit that I sure as heck didn't receive for whatever it was for. and the was $26.99. That's $173.96 of hard earned money AFTER I cancelled. Shady and wrong kind of business practice.
I signed up for shaw academy with my pay pal account in January and cancelled the subscription in february. I should have been charged only once and then once i cancelled the account it should've been closed end of story. Come to find out from my ex husband yesterday they have charged HIS card several times. I don't know how they got his credit card. Makes no sense how they got his card through me. Anyways I was emailing with the support team yesterday asking for the refund. She said they found the charges under a super random email address. No connection to me at all. And her response was this that since the account wasn't cancelled they couldn't refund me. That is a load of BS! That was a fraudulent account! I want my money back and for there to no longer be charges!

I was mislead by the system to believe I still had one day left of my 30 day "free" trial but was charged the same day and then refused a refund
I was mislead by the system to believe I still had one day left of my 30 day "free" trial but was charged the same day and then refused a refund. I was offered the opportunity for a 30 day free trial for Shaw Academy through my cell phone provider as a supposed customer "Perk". After signing up for the free trial, I was left highly unimpressed with organization on several levels, which includes being mislead and subsequently charged without my authorization and then refused a refund. To further explain, I found the quality of the content was subpar and even outdated with a recommendation for a website (Klout) that has been offline for at least 2 years (this was in the second class I watched). At this point, all credibility was lost and I lost interest in pursuing education with Shaw as I did not trust their course content nor their claimed accreditation status from this point on. I was constantly inundated with promotional emails, text messages, phone calls, and very annoying pop-up windows (that disrupted the learning experience during classes) to buy this or order that, and yet I was not once even asked how I was enjoying the education or asked for my opinion on the course content. When I went to cancel before the free trial was up, I was taken to a page that said I still had one day left of my free trial and it urged me not to cancel and to take advantage of the day I supposedly had left to keep learning. So I thought I might scroll through some of the other course materials just to see if the quality of other courses might be higher than the one I had registered for. However, I didn't end up having time to look at anything else that day. So later that same day in the evening, I went to complete my cancellation as I DID NOT want to continue learning with Shaw Academy, and was shocked to find that my credit card had been now been charged $69.99. NOTE: I received no notification that my trial had expired (although I signed up for this alert) and received zero invoice or notification that I had been charged. I had to login and download the invoice from the site to obtain record of being charged. To add insult to injury, when I went to process the cancellation, I was informed that I couldn't cancel online but needed to call to cancel. Since it was evening when I tried to cancel, I had to wait until morning to call as it was outside of the stated business hours. When I called the next day, I was informed that in order to request a refund, I needed to email their billing department. So you can't even speak to anyone about a refund but they force you to call to cancel just so they can try to convince you to continue. What a joke. So I sent the email explaining how I was mislead with the message that said I still had 1 day left, and how I was charged later that very same day. I even had screen shots of this highly misleading message. It took them over a week to respond, and I was refused the refund. I tried to explain the situation further, how it was misleading, how the course content was outdated, and how I can't afford the charge as I'm out of work due to the pandemic. I was told that unfortunately, because I didn't cancel before the trial expired, they couldn't process a refund. What? I was told I still had one day left of this "free" trial, and that SAME DAY I tried to cancel and that SAME DAY was charged. I had explained all of this and the refund was refused. I don't believe that a reputable, respectable organization would be so misleading and make it difficult to cancel a free trial, and then refuse to refund someone who has no interest in their products/services. They should be ashamed of themselves for being so misleading and charging people who are uninterested in their services at a time when so many people are experiencing financial strain from the pandemic. I should also add that when I signed up for this "free" trial, the site stated that it would then be $49.99 to continue. And then once I signed up for the trial, the price to continue jumped to $59.99. And I was then charged $69.99. Highly inconsistent pricing on top of everything else.

This was the very first day of the free trial to this service (7/11), and the business had already charged $2.00 for no apparent reason, I have also sent a cancellation to their support system and am unsure whether they will confirm this. I have read from many other sources that this business is highly unreliable and will not provide refunds unless I file a complaint with the ComplaintsBoard.com.
Enrolled in good faith, wanted to end the service after free trial. It stopped for a month then restarted using a " slightly different " account number to resemble a new account instead of a reoccurring charge. It avoided the stop payments from my bank account.
Shaw Academy has been charging my credit card 69.99 a month since 01/01. Services were only ordered in 2019 by my granddaughter *** in 2019. At this time I only have 2 statements with the charges available. I have requested copies of all my statements dating back to 01/01. I have contacted the company via email and am awaiting a response.
I signed up for a free trial in January for some online classes. I attempted to cancel multiple times after some disputes with them shortly after signing up, and then on February 11th I was charged $419.88. I had gone through the phone prompts and had received emails and was told that my account had been canceled. Almost every time I called I was unable to speak to a representative and they don't publicly provide have a contact number listed. I tried going through my credit card company and they provided information showing that my account was still active at the time my card was charged. I am trying to get a refund for this amount and am going through any avenue I can as I can not seem to reach a representative.

An unauthorized pending charge was placed on my account same day I was closing trial for something I have no idea for,was told I couldn't be refunded I was attempting to cancel my free trial because I wasn't doing the work,I failed the two assignments I did,I just wasn't feeling how the courses were being done so I was in my account getting out of all my classes that I once was interested in but none I was interested in enough to purchase anything for the classes that had to be paid for separately well I was going to message them after I got out the classes as I finished that I had a Message from my card account PayPal stating that I had a pending transaction of $39.95 as soon as I seen i cancelled my card and wrote to Shaw Academy about this issue they stated that it couldn't be refunded because it was done kit for the class and for diploma which I still didn't understand what this thing was they stated it was final and I stated I never purchased this for anything to be final it stated it was for blogging which I never would of bought anything for no blogging class so I know I didn't purchase this.I looked in the membership part of my account looking to see why they still had my card info and there it was from when I registered for the free trial which never was stated that it was going be up there to be used for any purpose at all besides for being charged for the service after the trail which I still had like 20days left of my trial a long time but I wanted it cancelled which I was doing prior to this.but where my card info it stated for security reasons the CVV would have to be put in to be charged which it wasn't& I didn't put it in for any other purchase besides the thing for the trail so how can the keep charging my card then they state per there policies that I couldn't be given an refund which is crazy it's not like I purchased this thing and changed my mind after clicking on it and looking at it and deciding I didn't want it but that's not the case,I contacted Shaw Academy right when I seen it after seconds after my notification from the card company&it was still even pending for a day and half before the lifted the pending transaction to complete transaction. But they keep telling me they couldn't refunded no matter what the cause was, they called trying to sale me another special I even spoke to the person asking if I could speak to someone dealing with me situation as well he stated that it had to be taken care of only threw email, that he would email them regarding me situation, even himself stated that it shouldn't be a issue to get a refund being that I never wanted this to be purchased or to have purchased any extra items,Even emailing from him and me informing them I spoke to an employee and they even sent email with guy I spoke to for a survey,& me asking for someone to call me not email till this day still no person contact no number to call only contact was threw email, they kept offering to spend more money or to give me more then I was unauthorizly charged for,for a discount but still they wanted me to have to still purchase &spend more money it's ridiculous how the customers service was then was told they added stuff to my account which I didn't cancel it left it how everything was when I was received the unauthorized pending transaction notification, but I paused everything so they couldjt say my account was closed that was another reason I couldn't be refunded but as I did the was no classes or anything just my info nd card number which I also asked to be removed which they stated I had to email them to have it removed.. All They did was said the added some more things which also say is purchased never explained how it would be used or what for being I am not in any classed as I stated & told them when I was canceling my trail but even if that was for replacement of there mistake they still not replacing my money,b/c I still have to buy more time to use it by time this resolved trial would expire. My card account *** closed so if they refunded it would have to be deposited into ACCOUNT#XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX& ROUTING#XXXXXXXXX

Minutes after starting a "free trial" I was directed to a page that offered a product for sale
Minutes after starting a "free trial" I was directed to a page that offered a product for sale. Never clicked a buy button but was charged $42.79. Ticket #XXXXXXX: November 13 I was interested in taking some nutrition classes online and was drawn to Shaw Academy as a result of an ad offering a free 28 day trial. A credit card number was required to activate the free trial which made me weary but the advertisement was clear that there would be no charges if the subscription was canceled prior to the 28 day trial period. I have no issue paying for services that offer a quality product but figured this would be a good way to trial the company before deciding whether or not it was worth any money. I have successfully navigated countless free trials, some of which have led me to purchase more content and some that have not. Minutes after I started the free trial for Shaw Academy, one of the limited links presented on the first page navigated me to a page that offered a "Tool Kit" that was clearly not free. Since I hadn't even had a chance see any free content I had no intention of making any purchases. At no point did I click the "Buy Now" button but once again, there were limited links available. I saw a link that said "Get Modules Now." Since there was no mention of a purchase along with this button I assumed this would lead me to some of the free content advertised. I clicked the button and was taken to a page that stated I had just been charged $42.79. Without attempting to access any further content I began looking for a way to contact customer service. My web searches immediately revealed that there were several thousand complaints against Shaw, many of which sounded identical to mine. Once I found a contact number, I called the customer service line and spoke to a woman who said their website is set up for "one-click" purchases but that she couldn't process any refunds. After I refused additional free products offered in lieu of a refund, she gave me an email address I would need to write to in order to request a refund. Having felt immediately that this was some sort of scam I canceled my subscription straight away and sent an email to the address provided requesting a refund. Within a few hours I received an email from Andrew stating that in section 5.8 of their terms of service (a 7-page document) that it clearly states that one-click purchases will not be refunded, an issue I didn't expect to worry about since I was only hours into their 28-day Free Trial. He said the purchase price was clearly stated on the website and that their terms of service clears them from any obligation to refund. While I did agree that a purchase price was displayed, I informed him that at no point did I hit a buy now button associated with that purchase price and I had zero intention of making any purchase before having an opportunity to trial a single second of content. Through a few email exchanges he continued to lean on the 7-page terms of service but he offered me several additional free products and certificates as well as an extension of my free trial to 3 months since he was not going to refund my money. I had already canceled my subscription and since my first free trial costed $42.79, I had no interest in seeing what his addition free trials were going to cost me. To summarize, I was charged minutes after starting my free trial after clicking a link that made no mention of a charge attached to it while searching for content offered to sample for free. I consumed exactly 0-minutes and 0-seconds of content and downloaded 0 files as a result of whatever it was I was charged for from the time I began and ended my free trial (which was only active for the space of a few hours). The offer of a 28 Free Trial was extremely deceiving and with nearly 3,000 ComplaintsBoard.com complaints it appears that the goal of it is to trick people into buying something, refer them to the terms of service if a refund is requested and offer additional products or services for free as a courtesy once a refund is denied. I see no value in a certificate issued by a company with a C- ComplaintsBoard.com rating.

Scam. I didn't even start the trial month, and the period wasn't even over, that these thieves took 49.99 from me, without preventing or informing ! Scam, I didn't even start the trial month, and the month period wasn't even over, that these thieves took 49.99 from me. Since then I have logically asked for a refund, but they categorically refuse by pretending everything and anything with repeat tickets. I have seen that I am not the only one, but se are a lot in the same case. I hope that with this complaint the thing will change. I asked for a refund of the 49,99 that were taken unfairly and without my consent. I explained that I am a student in a difficult situation, I can't afford to pay for something that I didn't even try - to believe in - in the first time ! I have been tricked by their Facebook publicity sayin precisely « Subscribe now to our free month trial of Marketing Digital online course ! ». It was supposed to start in 7 April, and logically to end in 7 May if we count 30 days. But the context of Covid-19 made that I had to change my home location, and I couldn't even start the program and I didn't attend to any class, not even in the supposed first day (7 April). So I never started the programme, and still I was keeping a close look to the end of the trial date to unsubscribe before (7 May), regarding the term of the contract and the publicity. It happened that in 4th May - due to a better personal conditions - I wanted to start the month of trial and try the Shaw academy. So I sent an e-mail asking If it's possible to start from now the month of trial, since I didn't have any time before. And I planned to unsubscribe till the 5 or 6 May, depending on their answer and before the first deadline. My e-mail was sent at 5 AM (Paris Hour). What did the Shaw Academy do ? In 12 AM I have seen that my account have been debuted from an amount of 48,99. Without any answer to my e-mail nor any notification. Everything is done to fool the consumer and to trick him, by no clear information about the contract duration and no notification alarming about the end date of free trial for example. And I learned - after they took money from my account only - that their month of trial, is not really a month, but 4 weeks, which mean 28 days. It's a clear lie in their first Facebook Adds, that tricked me and unclear conditions and terms of contract. Whatsoever, I did the calcul 7 April + 28 days give us and end subscription at least in the 5 May at 23:59 PM, which mean in 6 May and a proceeding payment in 6 May. But still what did they do ? They took my payment in 4th May morning. Which is a complete thief and an unfair payment. I asked for a refund with all these information, but they just don't give it any attention and just want to keep the money stolen, without any shame ! They dare to force me to follow their course for a kind of great deal « Oh we offer you 6 free month trial in place of the refund ! ». But who would want the services of a scam company ? And who would pay even 1$ for even a lifetime service of this Scam Company? Now I have seen that their are Facebook groups of people that have been scammed, and their are a lot of reviews given in website like trustpilot by other people. I am sure that the « good opinions » are fake. I am asking refund as I haven't been clearly informed about the terms of the contract, as I was tricked by false advertising information in Facebook and as I never started one course. They know it and I have received e-mail and message telling me that I never attended to even the first class. Since they are talking about the term of the contract, know that I agreed for a month trial, which they changed into 28 days, but I never even started it, and without speaking about the fact that it was supposed to start in 7 April. If we add 28 days, it was supposed to give me at least time to take the decision to unsubscribe until 5 May. But they took my money in the 4th May ( this while I was sending them an email explaining my situation and, naively, a special demand!). I ask for a refund of my 49,99 and a sanction against them.

Shaw Academy LLC made cancelling membership as difficult as they could while maintaining lack of professionalism over the phone during the process. I originally found Shaw Academy LLC through an Instagram advertisement. They advertised a 30-day free trial subscription for their Interior Design class. I signed up on 8/17 and scheduled my four classes up front. I chose one each morning at the same time for the following four days. During the same day I signed up, I received four different auto-generated e-mails pressuring me into attending on-time, warning me not to be late, and that my class would begin in less than 24 hours as well as one that generated near the scheduled class time. I thought this was alright for a so-called educational company, but in hind-sight it really was an unnecessary amount of e-mails flooding my inbox. I could not attend my first class and did not cancel or re-schedule. I later saw two e-mails alerting me that class had begun and the teacher was waiting. Then I received a more in-depth e-mail after I missed the class that led me to believe I left an actual physical person without a class attendee and caused them problems. This is not true as I began the class the following day and it is simply a pre-recorded video with a pre-recorded audio from a person. I decided I did not want to take this course as it unfolded and took steps to cancel the membership as I did not anticipate following through with the course. My main complaint begins here. I looked up how to cancel, followed the first step and as with similar companies I raise my brow at, they required me to click a link to continue the cancellation process on seven pages after my initial request to cancel. With each page, they used pressure ads to convince me to stay. This was not a problem for me personally, but for many it probably succeeds. I reached the final webpage and instead of confirming my cancellation with no further action required on my part, they give only one option: a phone number that I was required to call to complete the cancellation. It came with a reference number. I immediately called anticipating that I would be further questioned and pressured to stay, and I was not wrong. The line connected and the conversation began with loud room noise and chatter constantly happening. The gentleman on the line thanked me for calling Shaw Academy and asked for my first and last name as well as my e-mail on the account. Choosing to be slightly difficult, I only gave him my name and the cancellation reference number listed on the webpage. He did not understand what the reference number was and simply asked for my e-mail which I promptly gave. He then asked what he could help me with and I said "The reference number is for my cancellation please." He responded by asking me why I wanted to cancel. I simply said "Because I am no longer interested in having my membership." He replied repeating his previous question. I repeated my previous response. He then scoffed and repeated his previous question. I repeated my previous response. He then started talking to someone else, a slight pause, then repeated that he simply wants to know why I am choosing to leave. I repeated my previous response, knowing it was a sufficient reason. He paused again and sighed, while asking me to give him a moment while he worked on the cancellation. After another brief moment, he asked me if I was interested in any other services they provide to keep me with the company. I repeated my previous response a little differently: "No thank you. I am simply no longer interested, please cancel my membership." He informed me that he'd be sending a confirmation e-mail for the cancellation to occur, which he did. We ended the call and I received the confirmation e-mail. It took a 6 minute and 9 seconds phone call with a grumpy customer service rep that I had to execute myself on top of 7 webpages of pressure ads to cancel a free trial. It makes sense they start the goodbye email with "Thank you for your time earlier." They obviously require minimum phone time of their reps, which is a sad business model.

Shaw Academy has fraudulently retained and used my credit card info to bill me for classes never taken and confirmed to be canceled 3-1/2 months ago. I began a trial membership with Shaw Academy on 6/5 for which they required payment info in advance for billing in the event I decided to continue the classes at the end of the 4 week trial. I canceled the trial membership on 6/13 and received confirmation of cancelation the same day. Please see the following excerpt from their cancelation confirmation: "As mentioned on the phone your membership with Shaw Academy has now been cancelled. We appreciate you came to us with serious goals and we want to do all that we can to help during these challenging times. What we would like to do now is to give you an additional two months totally free of charge. There will be no recurring charges thereafter. There are no strings. Just two months totally free of charge as a thank you to you and to help you achieve your goals. If you want to keep studying after that's great, if not there is no issue - we just want to help and we hope an additional two months for free will help you achieve your goals." This offer was never accessed or utilized in any way. On 9/28 a charge was posted to my credit card by Shaw Academy for $34.99. I contacted the immediately regarding the fact that they retained my payment information that should have been purged and had now fraudulently posted a charge to my card. They responded with the following email containing the spurious statement that I reactivated my membership. Please see the following excerpt from their response below: "Hi ***, Thank you for reaching out to us. I have personally reviewed your account and found that you had cancelled your membership on 13-Jun-2020 and you have reactivated it on 29-Aug-2020 with the offer of free Toolkit and E-certificate. Your trial then restarted from this date onward and since you did not cancel during your restarted trial period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership. Click here(https://www.shawacademy.com/terms/) to review the same in particular section 4 and 5. The first thing I have confirmed that your membership is cancelled thus ensuring no further payments will be taken. The second thing: I want to help you achieve your goals which is important for you. What I am going to do is to provide you with 6-months access as I am going to ensure you benefit from our professional certifications. I have gone and activated this additional membership on your account and you have now 6 months access totally free of charge meaning you can complete the course you initially joined and many other courses as you wish." I did not at any point reactivate any membership with this company nor did I authorize them at any point to retain and or process any charges to my payment information that they have illegally retained. It has become quite apparent in finding the numerous complaints filed against this company for this same exact and similar reasons that they are utilizing this "free trial" membership as a means to acquire bank information for their alleged students which they will then retain and process charges against even after cancelation by stating they wish to provide you some free account access to say thanks and help you out thus providing the cover for why they retained your banking information and then alleging at some point that you reactivated your membership and post charges against your account for which they will deny refunds but again offer free access as a remedy and thus continue the cycle of fraud. This company last year was battling insolvency issues and placed in conservatorship for a period of time followed by the loss of accreditation. I believe this scheme of fraud was and is the tool used to artificially inflate their financials and enrollment records as a means to end their financial troubles. This is all public information and the bow that ties all of these same and similar complaints together into a package of motive, opportunity, and intent to defraud. Fraud, wire fraud, RICO ?

Shaw Academy did not refund me for a "toolkit" I never received the download for
Shaw Academy did not refund me for a "toolkit" I never received the download for. The product didn't download, and I provided a screenshot. On July 11th, I signed up for a Free Trial of Shaw Academy's online Web Design Course that includes learning HTML, CSS and Java. Certain parts of their terms were not disclosed upfront before accepting the trial until you could access the FAQs, such as that I'd have to choose specific dates and hours to take my courses, that there would be costs for toolkits which they claim help students perform better and include the instructor's slides (yet they don't mention either that you can re-watch the recording of the class as many time as you want when buying the toolkit), the cost of e-certificates for each module or that the diploma itself costs $119 and the cost charged after the trial is $69. Had I known about the some of these details, I wouldn't have signed up for the "Free Trial". After signing up, since I read that most students who don't buy the toolkit don't perform as well as the students who buy a toolkit for the modules, I decided to buy a toolkit for $39.95. The first time I purchased a toolkit, I was immediately charged in my bank account for $39.95, but the download (I included a screenshot to their billing and customer service departments) had just funny looking letters and numbers and there was no download. I would click the download button, and nothing would download. I tried repurchasing, and was charged again for $39.95 and did receive a normal downloaded toolkit as one would expect. However, Shaw Academy is refusing to refund me for the toolkit that didn't work, even though it is obvious there is only one toolkit in my course section, not two. And, you can still see the funny characters listed on the download in my profile where the downloads were to take place. Their refusal to refund me is the primary reason for my complaint. However, I would warn anyone considering Shaw Academy not to sign up. They practically abused my text, Messenger and email by sending me at least 10 or more messages a day either reminding me of course materials available, class times, drawings, sales, discounts on the diplomas which cost $119 when the course is over, and they would have spammed my Whatsapp too but never connected with it for some reason. My experience with Shaw Academy was that the coursework was mostly outdated. A lot of the courses available are up to a year to two year's old. There are not that many courses to choose from, and their primary habit and goal seems to be inundating the user with spam to sell their extras or their products and services. It is, to me, a sign that they are not having much luck with sustaining a healthy amount of current, consistent curriculum for students of the academy. I must admit that I am disappointed that I can't take the particular course. But, when I tried to cancel, they didn't make it easy. I had to call them on the phone with a PIN to access someone to talk to about the refund and cancellation, they told me they would cancel my course but go ahead and give me two free months anyways. They told me they would escalate my billing issue regarding the refund but that I would need to contact billing separately because otherwise I wouldn't hear back from billing. This was Kaytlin P that I spoke with for the initial cancellation call on July 17th. So, I emailed billing while on the phone with her. The cancellation email she sent to me had an offer that I was supposed to respond as Satisfied or Not Satisfied and then I told her I didn't want anymore free months or anything more from Shaw Academy, and I chose Not Satisfied. She said that was fine. She said my account had been successfully canceled. The response from Thomas in billing was frustrating because it was as if he didn't even look at my screenshots or read the email I sent. He said in the email that sometimes people accidentally purchase something twice, and their policy does not allow them to refund for instances such as that. I wrote back frustrated as can be at this point. I have not heard back. Account still active!

Attempted cancelling within the free trial period, yet keep getting charged fees
Attempted cancelling within the free trial period, yet keep getting charged fees. Customer service has been extremely useless. I want a refund. I have been going back and forth with Shaw Academy via email for 2 months now. A series of issues I have experienced are common looking at the complaints on ComplaintsBoard.com. Attempt #1 to cancel my membership was on the 28th day of the free trial period - May 20; signed up on April 22. I got prompted to a page saying to call a number to confirm cancellation. I did multiple times, called within "support hours", but conveniently the phone call was automated "The person you are trying to call is not available, please try again later". I did and still nothing. I emailed them on May 20 and received an automated email acknowledging my cancellation request and someone will be in contact with me. I contacted other listed phone numbers of theirs but seem to be out of service or invalid. The same day, I checked my bank account and $69.99 was posted that day. In order for the amount to be posted, they would have charged my account a couple days prior to my free trial expiration. It takes a few days for an "authorized" transaction to become a "posted" transaction. This is common knowledge. My partner who works for the bank I bank with also said this. I contacted them about this, as well as a charge of $34.95 posted on my bank statement on April 23. I have received countless emails on their marketing end to purchase this or that, with no intention of purchasing anything. I never realized by clicking an email to view tool kits, etc, without clicking "buy" I would be charged $34.95? After emailing about $34.95 & $69.99 charges and telling them to cancel my account, I received no email back. I look at my junk folder and the email is there. It says I have to forward the email to ***@shawacademy.com to cancel my membership and I did. By this time I have received another charge onto my account of $69.99 posted on June 17, a total of $174.93. WHY is it impossible to cancel my membership? I emailed back about this and their response was to give me a lifetime membership for "free". I didn't want this, I wanted my $174.93 refunded and membership CANCELLED, not extended to lifetime access. I replied back again. Every time I reply, a new representative repeatedly ignores my actual request and sends automated marketing content. Even after my "free" lifetime membership was granted, I received ANOTHER posted charge of $69.99 on July 15, totalling to $244.92 in charges! Will this continue each month? I emailed again about this and the response was "Hi ______, Thanks for reaching out to us again! Having checked our records, I could see that you're a Lifetime member of Shaw Academy. The Lifetime Membership has been offered free for you. The lifetime membership is just one-time payment and you do not have to pay anything extra for courses. The lifetime membership has the following benefits:Unlimited Access to All Courses(Both Foundation and Advanced modules)Interactive Live Webinars & Recordings in HDWeekly Assignments & QuizzesPremium support round the clockNote: The additional resources (Toolkits), E-certificates and Hard copy diploma are available at an additional fee.If you wish to continue further, We're happy to enable FREE E-certificate, Toolkit, and Hard copy diploma for 1 complete course instead of a refund. If you wish to accept the offer, please provide us with the course name that you would like to get qualified? So that we can enable the offer kit in your account. If you have any questions, please just ask.Your Friendly Neighborhood Shaw Academy Support Team.Kind Regards,Shane" How do I have FREE lifetime access yet charged again the other day? This is by far the worst customer service I've received and a giant pain dealing with this for 2 months now. I don't want "free" things just to be charged each month instead of issuing a simple refund. I just want my $244.92 refunded. I am frustrated these issues are clearly not being resolved, charges keep happening and money is just being thrown out on something I attempted to cancel during my free-trial.

I saw an advert on Instagram offering 4 weeks of sound engineering course introductory lessons for free, 9 days later they stole over £200 from me... march 21 - I saw a link on Instagram for Shaw academy which advertised a special offer of 4 weeks free sound engineering professional diploma. I always loved making music and never really had the time to learn professionally so i thought it was a good way to check it out without any obligation to spend money and if i liked it then i could look into it more (no mention of price anywhere on advert). i clicked and it took me to their website where it clearly stated that it was free for 4 weeks of at 2 lessons per week and showed the course breakdown, again no mentions of costs! 22/3 - i received an email from William (educator) at Shaw academy saying that i need to download the app to get all the benefits of the course, i didn't as it was just a free trial I wasn't bothered by not having the app. 23/3 - i received an email mentioning i could get digital certificates and course materials etc... i thought this was a bit spam-like but i didn't really pay any attention, it wasn't any information i really needed so didn't respond. 25/3 - i had another email this time from Anna Bateman (student guidance manager) stressing the importance of downloading the app and that it would make the learning experience better, i didn't do it as i didn't think i'd need the app, the original advert didn't say i needed it! 26/3 - I received a phone call from someone at Shaw academy (a learning coordinator but i don't remember his name) who asked me how i was getting on, i replied that i hadn't had any time to look at any of the lessons yet, he said i could schedule the next session which i did and i also asked him when was the date i'd need to cancel by to ensure i didn't incur any costs or charges, he told me it was the 17th April so i had no worry that i would be charged until that time, i had made a note to try the first lesson and decide from there if it was good worth pursuing or not. He sounded friendly and helpful and i had no reason to think there was anything fishy going on. 28/3 I received an email confirming i had scheduled my lesson and asking me if i'm all set to start learning and displayed a link i could use to reschedule. 29/3 - I noticed that there was a transaction on my bank account from Shaw academy and saw they had taken £219.99 from my account which was showing as pending, i immediately emailed them and stated that i wanted to cancel my free trial and membership and that i didn't consent to any payments being taken from my account. I also tried to call their number but it was an automated out of hours message saying i should call back during office hours. 30/3 - I received an email response from Manuel at 1.16am on the (less than 5 hours later) saying they don't have the option to cancel my subscription via email, i should call back Mon-Fri between 9am-5pm and follow the cancellation process/journey. i thought it was strange that they couldn't cancel my membership via email but they were able to write a tailored response at 15 minutes after midnight to tell me how to cancel during office hours on the phone which would end up being an automated service. later that day i realized the money had actually left my account and I filed a complaint with my bank which takes 5-10 working days to come back. I responded to Shaw academy demanding a refund and telling them that i had children to feed and had no salary coming in. 1/4 - i received a phone call from Britto at Shaw academy, told him my situation and that i didn't consent and want my money back, he said that in my previous conversation with the other guy i had been informed of the membership (which wasn't true), he said he needs to check that call recording and he would call me back in 24 hours, i told him i wanted a copy of the call either way. 2/4 - i received an email from Britto saying the best help they can do of now is process partial refund of £109.99 and make sure i have access for 12 months with e certificates etc... 3/3 - I responded demanding full payment.

Signed up for free trial, cancelled, was reactivated and charged for 2 months and no refund issued as of yet, no response back from email
Signed up for free trial, cancelled, was reactivated and charged for 2 months and no refund issued as of yet, no response back from email November 18/20 I signed up for a FREE 4 week trial of an online course but to sign up you have to give your credit card number to access. My plan was to cancel before the trial was up. I was accidentally put in the wrong course and emailed about this issue on November 19th and was given the right course plus the other one but I also asked to cancel which they couldn't do apparently. It told me to access my toolkit and when I went to access it, it automatically charged my credit card 49.00$ when I was not informed of there being a charge at all or notified. It just told me to go to my toolkit and as soon as I clicked it was unlocked and instant charge to my card. I contacted them on November 19/20 and they would not give me a refund for it stating the toolkit was automatically on my account and because I have access to it I've paid for it and they can't refund. I was unhappy. I received the response on November 20/20. I had called and asked for a refund and also to cancel my account as I had no interest in dealing with this company because I was unhappy with their service and the way I was treated. They were not upfront about charges. On November 23rd/20 I had contacted to cancel and I had received an email confirmation that confirmed I cancelled my account with them and would NOT be charged for any other months and that my account would be inactive or deleted. It also mentioned giving 2 months extra FREE of charge...which didn't happen. I received my credit card statement January 14th/21 and it said I had a charge to my credit card on December 23/20 from Shaw Academy for 55.99! This was not authorized and my account was supposed to be cancelled and inactive. Besides that fact they were wanting to give me 2 months free anyway regardless. This is so very wrong. I had tried calling to discuss this but had no answer. I also tried a query online and did not receive any response. On January 19th/21 I had sent an email to billing about my charge in December and asking for a refund for it as I did not authorize it and nor did I think my account was active because it was cancelled and inactivated or so I thought. On January 19/21 I got an auto response saying someone would answer within 48hrs. On January 21/21 I received a notification from my credit card company stating I was charged AGAIN from Shaw academy for another 55.99 charge! What the heck! It's supposed to be cancelled and inactive! So I called shaw academy and spoke to someone asking why I was charged and why my account was active. She was not sure as she said she can see it was cancelled November 23/20. She said she would notify support. I asked about a refund but she told me she could not do that and told me to email which I had already emailed them on January 19/21. I received an email on January 21/21 again confirming the re cancellation of my account and being put inactive. She said she couldn't delete the account or credit card number and I was unable to do this myself online. I have waited over the 48hrs for a response from previous email and received nothing so today January 22/21 I emailed a reply back to the support/billing place on my inquiry email as a reply stating it's been over 48hrs for a response and I've received nothing from anyone and that I need my refund for the two months I was charged for that I should never have been charged for in the first place! Ideally I would like both months payment back and a refund for the toolkit they didn't tell me I had purchased but in an email I received they said that refund was not possible. The lady on the phone said that I should be issued a refund for the two months I was charged for. I am still awaiting any response back and waiting for a refund at this point. I am disgusted with this company and the way they run. You can never contact them or get a hold of anyone and it's practically impossible to call someone or talk to someone or even find a phone number for them. Its impossible to reach them.I want my refund

Unauthorized Charges on an inactive account - poor customer service to remedy the situation going on 2 months back and forth by email and phone
Unauthorized Charges on an inactive account - poor customer service to remedy the situation going on 2 months back and forth by email and phone I have given Shaw Academy adequate time of now @ two months! Phone calls & emails leading to NO results! I can not nor will not attest to their product as I did NOT attend any classes in the so called 30 day FREE trial period as I realized I had been mistaken to what classes/certification I had signed up for to be something totally different and not anything I could make use of at this time of my life and career. So now that I have that out of the way... Signed up 10/16 for thier 30 day free trial, purchased the advertised "Tool Kit" for $39.99 same morning & became researching the classes I was to begin on 10/18. Missed/ rescheduled first 2 classes due to work I continued looking over the materials and began to realize my mistake, but being i had 30 days decided to try making sense of this specific program. On 11/15 @ almost realizing how much time had passed jumped online at @5:30 am to begin cancelling the trial to only be directed to call them once open for business hours several hours later, I instantly called at 9am to only be told that my trial needed to be cancelled the day before & transaction of $69.99 was received. Once I stated my case I was told that it was being esculated to finance & they would be in contact with me to receive my refund, she could not approve anything in regards to the transaction on her level. I was told this would take a few business days most likely before hearing back BUT instead of a phone call or email I received notification from my banking institution that my debit card was charged in the amount of $89.99 on 10/18! Now sitting at a total of $159.98 due back to me, I instantly jumped online to double check for an email in regards to what this transaction was even for to begin with, then checked to ensure I had not been contacted by the finance dept due to my escalated phone call from the 16th and to NO AVAIL nothing ...called immediately and spoke to someone else and was told they could not see why or for what the $89.99 charge on 11/18 was even for and that left no doubt nor reason why it wouldn't be refunded immediately once processed in their "finance dept" in which I was told an email was sent while on the phone with me...I requested a phone number and contact person so that I could have direct contact with the finance dept and was told they had no phone number but i could email them at the address provided which btw took almost a week to finally receive after several phone calls and emails sent in stating I never received such an email address to send the email to! I have consistently sent a numerous amount of correspondence via email as well as numerous phone calls made and SO much time wasted & still no funds returned at this point almost 2 months later! Each time telling me to contact them after they "supposedly" attempted to call me but NO voice mails left once! After the first email they sent me stating to ensure I answered their call I stated that they MUST either give me a phone number so that i could program it in my phone so it would not be marked as spam by my phone company and/or they MUST leave me a message (voice) with contact information so that I actually could respond via phone vs email as email has gotten me nowhere! The emails received by me seem to all be auto botted not even a real person i believe sends the emails out & I have saved all of them to the best of my knowledge to prove what has been accomplished & or done and what has not! have begun my reviews to state how awful this isto happen not to just me it seems but many others that are just trying to better themselves & families by attempting to continue their education! They will take funds that do NOT belong , they may tell you they will refund it but don't and give every excuse in the book to how there is no one the general public can contact by phone its all done via email even when you email finance NO ONE RESPONDS other than an autobot stating to answer your phone when they call!

Their ads say, get a month free
Their ads say, get a month free. But when you try to access the classes they charge $69.99 & won't refund your money. Thousands have reported.help plz This is their strategy. They lure you in with a Facebook ad that promises a free month of lessons with the option of canceling at any time, without being charged. So you sign up and add all your billing information thinking you're going to be charged after 30 days if you still like the program. So after I signed up I went to Access the free lesson because it was time for my class. It asked if I wanted to open module one. I clicked on it. It didn't give me any prompts saying I would be charged or that I didn't have access to it in the free trial. Before I had a chance to open the video, I got an alert that said I made a payment through PayPal. I panicked and I closed the website. I contacted PayPal and I emailed them saying that there must be some mistake because I just signed up for a free trial and i tried to access my class and it hadn't even been an hour since I signed up and I still had 30 days. Then I got an email back from the school saying my free trial had expired. How could that be? It hadn't even been an hour and I was supposed to have 30 days free. I have been part of free trials before so I couldn't understand it. Then I asked for a refund and I'm still trying. I gave them authorization to charge me after 30 days so their charge is Unauthorized. They run ads saying the first 30 days were free and that is a lie so that is also fraud. I haven't opened one single video and didn't consume any content so I deserve a refund and even further compensation for the hours I have spent trying to get my money back. I do not know if my information is safe with them or if they will be charging me in the future. I do not actually believe that this is a legit school because Trustpilot has a warning on their page stating that most of their reviews are bought or incentivized which has them above a 4stars. The other Trustpilot page they don't send people too is @1.2 only because you can't give 0 stars. It's a SCAM I was confused so I started researching the school. I found out that they have been scamming people and stealing money from people. There is an actual Facebook page called Shaw academy scam With thousands of people who have been charged illegally and who were manipulated by an ad that was falsified. Some people even had to change their credit cards Because the school kept charging them even after they canceled their memberships. They don't only steal your money with false promises and with one click baits that have no prompts or warning that you're being charged or even ask for authorization. they actually continue to charge people who never got their refunds and have long cancelled. PayPal can't do much about it because they are disguising their services under Subscriptions. so PayPal doesn't know that you signed up for a free trial and that you're supposed to be charged at the end of the month and not on the day of your signing up. So because they know that the subscription title and the charge will protect them, they are basically stealing money from people. And also they are charging all of us $69.99 which is the highest subscription they have. After I wrote a review on trust pilot They responded stating that I was charged because I tried to access module one. They started changing their story. Then I learned from the people in the group that they will change their story over and over and try to wear you out. some people had to send hundreds of emails just to get their money back and most people never did and some are even still being charged after having canceled everything. Please help us stop them. Please help us get our money back. Please help help us help other people not to fall for thIs scam. Please help us by reporting them to Facebook so they're not allowed to make false advertisement and steal money from people. Please help us stop them from operating worldwide, from getting business licenses and from doing this to other people. Please help us so people not robbed of their limited resources during a pandemic.

After clicking an ad on Facebook for a 4 week free trial for Shaw Academy I was billed/charged via my paypal acct, unauthorized charges $39.99, $
After clicking an ad on Facebook for a 4 week free trial for Shaw Academy I was billed/charged via my paypal acct, unauthorized charges $39.99, $69.99 On 11/11 I was directed to the Shaw Academy site from an add on facebook. I opted to explore a 4 week "free" trial. After inputting my paypal information, I unknowingly subjected my bank account to being fraudulently charged. The first charge occurred within 24 hours of starting my "free" trial. On 11/12 while trying to navigate the newly downloaded app I was required to use to access services I was charged $39.99 without any confirmation to authorize payment. This purchase was for an e-certificate for completing the courses I was enrolled in. At this point I couldn't work around the app without being redirected to various pages, offering more "certificates, toolkits, diplomas". I attempted to go to the mobile website to find a customer service number to question the charge to my paypal and also requested this be refunded as I did not authorize this. I could not find any contact info, number, or email for customer service or billing. I had been receiving spam calls, texts, emails-harrassing me that "I had a class to attend, I was late for class, my report card was not well, reschedule my misses classes". These emails were coming from my teacher, educational advisor, and various other members from Shaw but I still had no way to actually contact these supposed people. I google searched for a phone number to Shaw. I waited on hold/followed the automated prompts and was unable to be transferred to a rep because I did not have a student ID number to enter to proceed. So I returned to the app to see if my profile had and ID listed, it did not. I was beyond frustrated at this point and tried to cancel my membership. I couldn't figure it out and pop-ups to "get the necessary tools needed for you education" would not go away. In fear that I would accidentally purchase something again I exited the app. Throughout my trial I never accessed the app, any lessons, classes and received numerous daily reminders that I was not doing so. I continued to try and contact customer support/technical support. I received an email on 12/11 that I had a 3-day extension, shortly after that I was charged $69.99 for a 1-month subscription. Again this was unauthorized charges that were billed to my paypal account. The only reason my account was still open was because I still had not received a refund for the initial charge. On 12/12 after googling "how to cancel membership and speak to customer support" was the only was I was able to proceed with cancelation. I clicked through 7 different screens, each of which offered some incentive to keep my membership. Then finally I had a student ID. Still my membership was not canceled, I had to call a toll-free number to finish. That number was customer support, I explained the troubles I had with the site, app, billing to the representative Brandon. He was very understanding, he had offered to make the videos viewable offline for me since I was unable to "attend" class, I explained I still was upset and wanted to cancel the account. He then told me I had to speak with billing to initiate the refund process. Thinking I was going to be transferred to that department he proceeded to tell me I had to email them. He sent this in confirmation to my email and I did as instructed and emailed billing. I received confirmation of my inquiry and a 48 time frame was given to allow them to respond. No phone number or other contact info was listed. On 12/20 I still had received no response so I contacted them again, Notifying them that if I still did not receive a response and refund I would pursue contact ComplaintsBoard.com. Norman responded-spelling my name incorrectly, misspelling other words throughout the email, ignored my request for the e-certficate refund and denied the subscription refund offered an annual mem+toolkits+certificates . Sent me and invoice for 1)membership $839 2)toolkit $22.99 and 3)certificate $6.00 all for free. I was not satisfied, Roy responded I should be appreciative and this was compared to a gym mem

I wanted to improve photography skills and the course was very helpful. The instructor was very knowlegeable.
Course delivered what it said it would. Very knowledgeable instructor. Went a bit fast for me sometimes as I was new to content. No complaints otherwise.
Still updating from last one month .Assignments and lessons are not opening, only shows coming soon
I was coerced over phone into signing up to an extended plan which was supposed to give me access to all materials and certificates. However upon trying to access these materials I was charged a further significant amount and when I rang customer service they were extremely unhelpful and we're unwilling to make any sort of refund. Absolute scam, stay away
