I got signed up for this program by PG&E without even asking
I got signed up for this program by PG&E without even asking. If what they say in their ads is true and joining SVCE is really better for the environment, then I guess it's fine. But they should have been more upfront about it. I didn't even notice the extra charge on my bill. However, after 60 days, they sent me a mail explaining the program and that I can opt out without any fees. It would be better if they sent that mail sooner, like in the first few weeks, so customers have enough time to decide if they want to opt out for free.
Seems like a scam
Seems like a scam. I didn't sign up for this, I was "automatically" signed up for it. It's just an extra $15 charge on my bill, for nothing. There's no explanation of what this fee does. Also, electricity is a totally interchangeable thing. If they can make electricity cheaper with solar or wind or whatever, okay - if they can't, that means they put more energy into the system to make energy than they get out of it. Reminds me of ethanol - which costs more because it takes more energy to produce ethanol than you can get from burning it. It's not just not carbon neutral, it's worse than burning gasoline.
