I've bought this Simply purrfect scoopable cat litter for some years now, but the last batch I bought in Costco Calgary was completely hopeless!
I could forget all about scooping up anything.
As soon I tried to scoop up the clumps they were just falling apart, so soon the litter became smelly and I had to throw it all out.
Have you change anything in your production lately?
I've just opened a new batch and I sure hope this will be better.
Kind regards

I've been purchasing and using Simply Purrfect litter from Costco for probably over 10 years and until the last year or so I have been extremely pleased. However, I have noticed a continual decline in this product over the last year or so. It no longer controls the odor and the clumping is very hit a miss. Sometimes it clumps the urine and other times there is just a large, unclumped puddle of urine that then will not scoop our with the litter scoop, as it just falls thru the sifting slots. I have put off writing any sort of review for several months, but have finally gotten to the point that I feel the company and any new consumers (as those using it obviously already are aware) should know about these issues. I am looking at changing the brand of litter I use by trying others on the market. I sincerely hope Simply Purrfect goes back to an older formula so that I may continue to purchase the product knowing it will do the trick. Thank you for your time.

I’ve been using this cat litter for a long time and have been very happy with it.
Not any longer- it looks like they have started just selling sand!
Doesn’t clump, smells bad after a day and is almost unusable for its intended use.

I too agreed 100%. When we first started using simply purrfect it worked great. Now we've been noticing it doesn't control the Odor and doesn't clumps when you scoop. We've also noticed there's some sort of Crystal like sand in the litter. At first we thought maybe it's our cat not digesting food. After doing some research on the internet other consumers are experiencing the same thing. I will no longer be buying this product.

I’m very unhappy with the new packaging purchased here in Richmond BC.
The cardboard box is heavier (there is more product in the box than the jugs) harder to handle and rips if you try to pour it out as I did with the plastic jug.

Scooping out of the box is a chore and it was much more time effective to pour.

Let’s review this at the consumer level ok?
It’s ok to admit a mistake and go back to the way it was.

Thanks.

This litter is terrible! We bought it today and put it in our cat box and right away my black kitten was turned gray from the dust. Now the inside of his nose has been coated white with sticky dust. With how hard I had to scrub the white stuff off the outside of his nose, I know this isn’t good for his little lungs. I’m now having to rush out to the store at midnight to get new litter so he’s not breathing more of this crap in. Has anyone else dealt with this? Seems like a health concern to me.

This is the worst cat litter I have ever bought. No odor control whatsoever and the clumping factor is almost nonexistent, on top of that there is so much dust put in the air when pouring that I can barely breath. I thought it was a good value and would be a quality product since it was coming from Costco, but instead it was a big disappointment!

I agree with all the complaints above. Your new formula is no longer cohesive enough to be functional. Attempting to scoop out the clumps does nothing more than redistribute the feline waste contaminating the rest of the unused product.

Waste of time, waste of money and unhealthy for the animals. "Scoop Away" will end up being cheaper in the long run.

Thanks for ignoring any productive R&D.

NEVER AGAIN! CYA ! ! ! ! !

Update to my first entry (above): For others that are also to cheap to throw away expensive cat litter, I started mixing SP with Scoop Away at a ratio of 1 part SP, 2 parts SA. The mixture now has enough clumping power to work like litter is supposed to.

Hard to believe Simply "Impurrfect" doesn't recognize the error of their ways.

Now if we could only get Scoop Away to purchase and use all the green plastic containers from Simply Purrfect after they go out of business, we would have a winning combination.

NEVER AGAIN! CYA ! ! ! ! ! 2.0 (still trying to get rid of the last batch I bought)

I agree with the complaints above. We have used this litter for years, but the recent batch does not clump and therefore the smell is awful. It’s a shame that the formula was changed, but with this new formula, we will definitely find another:litter to use.

Try Scoopaway, it clumps and odor is greatly reduced from this junk product.

I've been using the Simply Purrfect litter for many years, and noticed recently that the smell has changed from a piney clean smell to a perfume type smell. The whole reason I bought this brand was because it didn't smell like perfume. I'm now going to have to find a new brand. Not happy.

Like most other reviewers, I’ve been using this product for many years and the quality has definitely gone down hill quick the last year or so... it barely clumps anymore and doesn’t absorb odor anymore. I’ll have to find a new brand, this is a useless product now...

What happened to this litter? It won't clump anymore and it reeks of perfume so the box constantly smells like urine and perfume. And the dust? Horrendous, I have noticed both cats having strange breathing problem. I can't imagine what is in this litter now. I am changing brands, total shame used to be awesome.

Wow, something is really going on with this litter. My cats have been acting up like they have allergies or something and the litter smells like cat urine all the time. The dust and smell is off the charts . I thought maybe I can give this litter a chance and see what’s going on online and sure enough here are other people seeing the same thing I am. This new litter is straight garbage. I want to be refunded for all the litter I have been wasting my money on with this new formula. Why would you change something that works perfect? everyone is clearly a big fan when Costco dropped it and now because of the change in formula and quality I can now see it getting kicked again. Good luck, I won’t be buying again.

Same experiences as noted above. Have been using Simply Purrfect for years and loving it.
Had no fragrance, clumped and scooped easily and there was no dust. With the new formulation it does not clump, has a horrible, overpowering, faux floral scent (really objectionable) and a cloud of dust appears when new litter is poured into the litter box. Doubting myself, I tried a second jug of it, thinking the first one was just a bad batch; sadly it seems to be the new recipe. I will be returning the unused portion and trying to find a replacement brand.

The cat litter is so dusty and turns into cement🤦 it broke my scoop trying to scrape it off the litter box. The cat litter gets everywhere. It's disgusting

Awful doesn't begin to describe this cat litter formulation. Once I finish this box of litter, I will not buy Simply Purrfect because I LOVE MY CATS and do not want them to die from respiratory complications. The dust level of this litter is the worst I have EVER used...ever! Not only do I have to wear an N95 mask so that I don't get fine dust in my lungs, but I am very concerned as to what it is doing to my 3 cats.
Costco, take this off the market before you get sued for wrongful death of their cat(s) due to dust inhalation.
PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMULA! It was heavier but it had much less dust.

We have been using this litter for a long time but have become very disappointed with it recently. It is horribly dusty, couldn't figure out why the cat was not wanting to use it until I realized how dusty it is. It does not clump very well, the clumps fall apart. Also does not cover scents very well. Not sure what changed in the formulation but it is extremely poor. Will not be buying this litter again.

I agree with all the comments above especially the lack of clumping, dust and used to be good. I wrote to Simply Perfect but we should be directing our attention to Costco to apply pressure as it seems that is the only retail outlet.

I've been using Costco's purrfect litter for years. The product has been changed to a new formula that doesn't clump and stinks of an obnoxious perfume odour. I returned 2 boxes yesterday. I've now ordered from Amazon it's more expensive but they deliver monthly.

We have been using Simply Purrfect litter for years and it was doing good. Now they have changed something and it's horrible. We got a 2nd cat that is a pooping machine. We have 3 cat boxes and there is absolutely NO.NONE odor control with this brand. The house smells horrible now. I have to try to find something new that our older picky cat will use. I can't handle the smell any longer. I don't like to complain but the old formula was working and now it's not. YIKES... Change it back.

I bought 5 x14kg pails at Giant Tiger ...worst product I have ever used...Clumps disintegrate a soon as you try to scoop...GT used to have Simplicity in a similar pail and I was very satisfied with that qyality versus value...Stay away from the Purrfect

I read with dismay the feedback provided by once satisfied users of Simply Purrfect cat litter, and the lack of anything but a standardized complaint resolution reply by the manufacturer.

Our experience matches those listed -- what was once an efficacious product has undergone a change in formulation and is no longer 'as advertized': it fails to clump or provide odour control, and in my opinion is dangerously dusty to animals and humans -- especially given the respiratory risks of the current pandemic.

It's of interest that there is no specific information available regarding the sources of the ingredients Simply Purrfect lists. I too noticed the difference in colour (thanks to Laginvula [1 Oct 2020] for the visual confirmation) between the two formulations, and it's likely the product's decline is in direct proportion to the inferior quality of ingredients -- presumably the clay.

Regardless of whether this is motivated by profit margin increase or dimished availabilty of original ingredients, the end result is that Simply Purrfect...well...isn't. Since we can't know what's in those pervasive dust clouds, please consider the inherent risks to your lung health, and to those of your loved ones.

November 24, 2021
I recently complained to the Canadian office of the company that makes Simply Perfect litter. The product is mined in Wyoming, USA. The newer white jug contents (by comparison to the older green jugs) don't clump. No problem the rep sez, "I'll send you a refund check for the three jugs whose contents are defective". That's a lie; no refund.

But I have a solution: Put some (maybe 5 to 10 lbs) of the nasty stuff from your litter boxes back into each white jug, and take it back to Costco. They have a full record of all of your purchases, so there is no verification problem. You bought a defective product from Costco, and now you're returning the defective product. And now you can clean your litter box(es) and put something different in it/them. Most litter boxes clean well by putting them in an elongated toilet bowl, and using the bowl scrub brush.

Now Costco is carrying a different product in a box, with 4 ten lb sacks inside. We'll see if this is a good litter product or more of the same junk, as in the white 35 lb bottles.
