Be Cautious When Considering Smarty
After reading through various customer experiences, it's important to approach Smarty with caution. Some customers have expressed concerns about deceptive practices, such as signing up for subscriptions unknowingly. It seems that transparency and clarity in terms and conditions might be areas that need improvement. Before engaging with Smarty, make sure to thoroughly review all terms and conditions to avoid any unexpected surprises.
ONLINE CANCELLING INSTRUCTIONS DON'T WORK
I SIGNED UP FOR THIS SERVICE BUT WAS UNAWARE THAT IT IS A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION. I WENT ON THEIR SITE AND IT SAID i COULD CANCEL VIA TEXT MESSAGE OR BY FOLLOWING A LINK IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. WHEN i TEXTED, THEY REPLIED "THE KEYWORD YOU SPECIFIED WAS NOT RECOGNIZED". I TRIED 3 MORE TIMES AND EACH OF THOSE ATTEMPTS WAS REPLIED WITH "NOT DELIVERED". WHEN I TRIED THE LINK IN THEIR SITE IT DIDN'T WORK EITHER. THEN I SEARCHED FOR AND FOUND THEIR PHONE NUMBER. AND WAS ABLE TO CANCEL VIA PHONE. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE QUIT TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT. CERTAINLY NOT MY WORST EXPERIENCE WITH ONLINE SITES, BUT THEIR ONLINE INFORMATION SHOULD BE CORRECT.

I found that I was charged by Smarty on my credit card $3.00 on February 7 & another $15.00 on my credit card on March 6
I found that I was charged by Smarty on my credit card $3.00 on February 7 & another $15.00 on my credit card on March 6. I was in the midst of ordering a meal online from a restaurant menu when it displayed getting a rebate of $20.00. It seemed that it was the restaurant's direct membership to have easy access in ordering like other food restaurants. Apparently, it is not. That day, I didn't complete my food order online. I walked in the restaurant and ordered inside. I didn't receive any service and membership information confirmation or any rebate from this Smarty company. I feel that this is a SCAM. I wish to have my $18.00 that was charged to my credit card credited back on to my card, NOT be charged for a cancellation fee, have my name and information cancelled & deleted.

The thing I like most about the app is that it gives you several options to save. Their order protection feature also helps me keep on top of my purchases.
No idea what this is but charges just started showing up on my card from this. Called and did a live chat to try and cancel or refund but they couldn't find my account info. Doing chargebacks on the charges but what a pain..
It is an easy and effective technique to save money. I've been using Smarty for a few months, and the cash I've saved makes the monthly fee worthwhile. You should look at their pricing comparison tool. I succeeded in locating the greatest offers.
Money saver! They have different ways of helping me save money from cashback to exclusive store discounts.
This company is such a scam
This company is such a scam. All of the sudden some charge shows up on my account for $19. I call the company and have no idea of who they are. The guy on the phone tells me I had to sign up for membership because they don't do it for me. I told him that when I go to the website I have no login information and he tells me that maybe I forgot the email I signed up with even though I just gave it to him to "cancel" my membership I never signed up for in the first place and demand a refund. He told me well it is a legit charge so he isn't sure he can refund me but he does without a fight. And from the complaints on here I can see I am not alone. However, something should be done because even if I accidentally clicked on a link while on Amazon or target there is no reason I should automatically be signed up for a service! Just awful.

You can't go wrong with this app! Easy to use and good savings all the time. It is definitely worth the membership. Strongly recommended!
Fantastic services! I made a lot of purchases here and saved a ton of money. There is a huge selection of partner stores, so I always find something I like. I'm extremely happy and would suggest it to everyone.
Smart and easy-to-use shopping app. It is the perfect way to shop online if you are looking for ways to save.
It is an easy and effective technique to save money. Every time I shop online, I use Smarty since it is simple to use.
I saw this charge on my checking by chance because I was closing the account
I saw this charge on my checking by chance because I was closing the account. After calling them about it and being told that they would cancel the account and refund that charge, I ended the call...but...I did some searching on google and found that this was a ongoing monthly charge for folks that were getting slammed into it. Sure enough i checked my bank account and had charges since last november to now. I called and they are supposed to refund that back in 3 days. We will see because the first customer rep hung up on me on purpose when I told him I knew what was going on. The second rep didn't seem to helpful at first but told me after I told him I had already contacted my lawyer and had been advised on this situation and what needed to happen legally...then he said he would refund my money. Like I said we will see because the scam alerts are not very positive on them.

Incredible app! Bought many items here and was able to save a lot. I always find something I like and the selection of partner stores is massive. I am very pleased so far and would recommend this app to anyone.
i got the ad pop up about $25 cash back for paying my att bill. so i go threw everything and set up everything and claim it by choosing gift card and i get a email saying a check will be sent in 6-8 weeks. when i go to customer support they keep saying the same thing. i tell them i didn't want a check they respond with a check will be sent in 6-8 weeks. i am certain this is a scam. stay away from this place.
I've been using Smarty for the past months and it has saved me hundreds of dollars. Shopping is easy and their cash back rewards are some of the highest.
1 STAR only to leave this review...Scammers are continually trying to get $3 off of my card for nothing. I don't have any subscription with them. They are scammers! Every 2 DAYS there is a pending $3 charge from these weirdo foreign scammers. I had a subscription for literally 15 MINUTES and then cancelled when I did not immediately receive a cash back promise after a purchase I did complete with the Fandango app. Fandango and these scammers are supposed to be affiliated I guess. Now I will never purchase from Fandango again either since they are affiliated with scammers. SHAME
If you look at all of the other reviews, and the dismissive responses by this company, you know exactly the type of company that you are dealing
If you look at all of the other reviews, and the dismissive responses by this company, you know exactly the type of company that you are dealing with. I have zero recollection signing up for any remotely associated to this company, yet I have a charge for *** on my account and 2 charges for *** This is obviously a company who has zero morals and uses deception to steal small amounts of money from unsuspecting customers. They may respond to this review with their canned responses that you see attached to all of the other comments regarding this predatory company, but just read how the same complaint over and over again and recognize that this is not us...it is them. And if you are the one who's job it is to write these responses, shame on you for working for a company that makes money off of tricking people. You know who you are and what you are doing. Quit your job and warn others away from this place.

This is a scam. I'm not sure how they tricked me into this but it seemed to be related to a subscription to FloSports. I thought I was entering card info to pay for the subscription and got charged for a coupon service. ...twice!
I have asked this company to quit debiting my account. I don't want their service. It is worthless to me. They told me my account would be canceled but I continue to get debited. In my opinion it is a scam. Going to change my credit card account number. It's the only recourse I have.
Had to give 1 star but it's a scam, they steal your credit/debit info and use it to there advantage
Hassle-free and convenient. Smarty helps me find good deals while giving me discounts on popular items. I am able to easily find essential items I need from popular online stores.
Yesterday (April 4) I made a report to ComplaintsBoard.com about a fraudulent payment from Smartyplus.net against my VISA account
Yesterday (April 4) I made a report to Complaintsboard.com about a fraudulent payment from Smartyplus.net against my VISA account. That charge was for $18. Later that evening, after addirional searching I found a $3 charge from smartyplus.net on March 29. According to other reviews I've read on Complaintsboard.com, that $3 must have been the subscriptin fee, and I must have inadvertently clicked on a smarty pop-up while making an online order. What a racket. Anyway, I called their customer support line this morning and complained and requested cancellation and refund of $18. I was told that my subscription is being cancelled and that the money is being refunded to my VISA card but that it might take 10-15 days to post "depending on my bank". Hopefully, this episiode is over, 10-15 days is a long time for that transaction; I'll post a complaint if it doesn't show up. This operation of theirs is a real racket that should be illegal.

My dad just got a fraudulent charge on his debit card which is only used for his mortgage payment
My dad just got a fraudulent charge on his debit card which is only used for his mortgage payment. Clearly this company is scamming as evidence by this and their bs boilerplate responses to credible accusations on Complaintsboard.com. Its funny to watch you play dumb like you don't have 142 reviews netting you a 1 star Complaintsboard.com rating... any reputable company would look at that and make changes so clearly you're more than comfortable taking money and I'm leaving customers angry. That means you don't really have any intention of providing a service to your customers, it's a turn and burn until you buy a new domain and start over type of business model. One day the FTC or FCC or some White hat will shut you down. The end of the day one of two things is a reality... either 1) you're a disreputable company wit a sign up and registration process that is woefully misleading and in the face of being confronted about that by angry customers your top notch "smarty" customer service reps choose to berate and belittle them rather than FIX WHAT IS BROKEN... you more likely Occum's razor would venture the MUCH simpler explanation, that you're just another scammer that found a fresh way of running a refund scam. You'll get yours in the end. The world is not going to stand the likes of people like you for much longer.

I too learned today of the fraudulent charge to my Wells Fargo checking account on 10/6 in the amount of $19.00
I too learned today of the fraudulent charge to my Wells Fargo checking account on 10/6 in the amount of $19.00. I have phoned their customer support and inquired about the charge(s) and was told that I physically entered my account information into their ad and intentionally clicked the box indicating I understood their terms. I was informed this transaction occurred on August 28th so I will also need to check my September statement. Clearly, the manner in which smartyplus operates their business is unethical; otherwise, there wouldn't be hundreds of one star negative reviews with everyone complaining about the same unapproved charges. IF smartyplus were conducting business ethically THERE would be transparency rather than smoke and mirrors. Not only have I notified Wells Fargo about this transaction, I have asked them to open a "suspicious activity" investigation. Smartyplus response to the negative reviews has been quick so let's see how quickly our charges are reversed! I have NEVER received any emails let alone membership confirmation emails as they indicate in prior replies. I am also filing a complaint with the FTC because merely complaining to the Complaintsboard.com when they are NOT a Complaintsboard.com company member is pointless.
Btw, I also don't give a rat's *** if the POTUS gave a shout out to you during a state of the union address so please refrain from your typical copy and paste reply with mention of NBC and Businesswire and etc..

I tend to agree with this person who wrote a complaint here it is: 01/09/2022 I signed up for this service without realizing it
I tend to agree with this person who wrote a complaint here it is: 01/09/2022 I signed up for this service without realizing it. It's made too easy. Its obviously designed to trick people and trap them into paying. While talking to customer service, they kept indicating that I had agreed to this service on my own. Maybe that's true. I dont know anyone that reads all the terms and conditions to everything. I'd like ***. to read this personally. You know what you're doing here. If you offer a great service that people can benefit from, than more power to you, but when you bank on people making mistakes and signing up for this without realizing it, that is unethical and you deserve all the negative reviews on here. Before you copy and paste the same response you have to the 120 unhappy people before me, dont bother. It only proves how much you dont care. If you want my money, earn it. Quit looking for ways to cheat it out of people. Change. Desired Outcome No settlement requested - for Complaintsboard.com information only I also had an experience when shopping online, I checked out and as soon as I did this other banner came up and said get $5.00 off your order now so Who doesn't want to save as much as they can during these trying times? So, I started to fill out the required info, They asked for my credit card info they said to get the $5. back so I said to myself no I'm not going to do this so I hit the back arrow to go back and a banner came up and said are you sure you want to do that and I clicked yes and what do you think, another banner came up and said get $10.00 off your order now. Well now I really don't want anything to do with this now they're trying very hard to get my information! So I found this site because I not only will I get $5.00 off I would've had overdrafts on my account and everything else!So I'm glad I didn't! It seems like these people at Smarty.com are out to make a buck at our expense. Thank you for this opportunity to add my experience.

My credit card company flagged a suspicious transaction from*** on September 21, 2022
My credit card company flagged a suspicious transaction from*** on September 21, 2022. Upon further research, I found that my credit card had been charged $19/month for the past 10 months for a subscription service I had never signed up for. When I contacted SmartyPlus, I was told that they would not refund subscription fees paid from November -February 2022 since those transactions were older than 6 months. They said I had been provided a "welcome" e-mail upon being subscribed to their monthly service, but when I located the welcome email it made absolutely no mention of the fact that I was being enrolled in a paid monthly subscription notice, let alone a dollar amount for the monthly fee (the email simply appeared to look like any other spam advertisement). A copy of the welcome email is attached. I am seeking a full refund of the remaining 4 months x $19 = $76 that is still owed to me.

Charges showed up on credit card from this company. I did not sign up for a subscription. I have no clue how they got my information.
On December 21 2022 *** took $3.00 from my checking account, UNAUTHORIZED! I have made hundreds of online purchases through the years without being scammed. There was absolutely no purchase made here and it sounds like the scam continues monthly.
Beginning in July 2022 an unauthorized charge on my debit card was made for $3.00 and then $19 a month and I did not catch these fraudulent charges until December. I never signed up for this, I never received any emails from SnartyPlus.net, these charges just appeared out of nowhere. There is no way that I can see to recoup my money from them. They give you the option to opt out by logging into your account with them. I never created any account with a username or password. My bank is investigating. But I see I'm not the only one who has been unwittingly scammed by these people. I never authorized anything from this company and I'm not contacting them directly so they can try to get more information from me. I filed fraudulent charges with my bank and they will be disputing the charges at this point. Please put these scammers out of business!
I found four unauthorized transactions on my bank statements, 10/11/22 for $3.00, then 10/17/22, 11/19/22, and 12/19/22 each for $19. At no point did I or any of my family members knowingly authorize these transactions. Each of the transactions is listed as "ShipmentsFree.com" on my statement. However, when calling the company, they answer as "Smarty" and say the product is "Smarty Plus," which they describe as a discount coupon/cash back service. The telephone operator had a very thick Asian accent and was in a very noisy call center. Oddly, they have never deposited a cent in my account, but they do make automatic monthly withdrawals for the "service." Google Maps shows the address is a UPS Store in an unappealing area of Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. I've had to cancel my debit card to avoid recurrent unauthorized withdrawals. This, of course, means I have to wait for a new card to arrive and then update the information on all of my legitimate autopay payments. Scammers suck.

I am not familiar with this company
I am not familiar with this company. I noticed a payment of *** coming out of my checking account from *** It appears it's some sort of coupon business. The only thing that comes to mind is an online purchase I made through target.com and I received an offer for a rebate on my purchase so I signed up for the rebate which I never received and I believe I gave my information to this company. After seeing the charge being processed through my bank account on 3/27 I looked up the company name on the charge and tried to sign in to their website but it wouldn't accept my email address. I called the customer service number on 3/28 and spoke with a man and told him I wanted to cancel whatever service I was receiving and he told me he would email me instructions on canceling service. I haven't received an email. I do not want any more charges going thru my bank account. I believe this to be a fraudulent company.

On 9/30/2022, i recieved a $ 19.00 charge to my debit card. I have no idea what smartyplus even is and i did not make any kind of purchase. On october 5, 2022 at 1036 am- i talked with a respresenative from the company who canceled the subscription- that i DID NOT purchase. I would like my 19.00 back into my account. I would also suggest that the complaintsboard.com check into this business for fraud. Thank you. -
What a waste of time. Ticketmaster stated I was eligible for a 15 dollar rebate if I signed up for Smarty. I also was told I have one month to cancel my subscription, meaning if it was processed in 10-15 business days, there would be no overlap. Instead, I was immediately charged three dollars on October 12 when I joined, and then today I was charged 19 dollars. I phoned and said my situation. He cancelled my membership and refunded me, but also notified me that I would not be getting a rebate. Why pretend that we are going to get rebates? Why waste peoples time? If you say you're going to charge us in a month, don't charge me immedietely and then again 8 days later! You also avoided my initial emails. I want my initial rebate of 15 dollars to be honoured as I did follow the process accurately.
I did not authorize any amount of money to be debit from my account but this company continues to debit my account for $19.00 each month. This company is listed as a fraud account and I am requesting refunds of all money collected from this company since Sept.2022.Thank you for any assisstance that you can provide and to have my name and account deleted from this company.Thank you ***.
Starting back in august 2022 I try canceling my subscription with this company and was promised to be contacted which I never was. In November 2022 I realized they were still deducting money from my account after stating my subscription was cancelled. On November 14 I threatened to contact my state's attorney general's office and they finally emailed me that my subscription was canceled. I have all emails of my correspondence.
August 30 19.00 taken from account unauthorized
August 30 19.00 taken from account unauthorized. $3.00 Taken from my account on August 16th, I never gave them my card number. I was trying to pay my AT&T bill and there was note at the top of the page that stated if you want to save $20.00 instantly on your AT&T bill click here. I clicked and never got my discount by the apparently took my debit card number from that page. There was never a statement about charging my account or setting anything up. This is fraud in book because they did not disclose that there was a fee. I never got the discount on my phone bill either. This is so misleading. I am a widow and trying to save money not spend it. I just want a refund of all money that took as I have never used there service and never will. AT&T has been alerted as to what happened as well since this was on there payment page that I had to log in with my password which has now been changed. I would appreciate resolve.

I recently discovered recurring charges on my VISA to this company without authorization or explanation of what the charge is for. I have alerted my bank to reverse charges, but this company needs to be shut down.
Clicked on an advertisement after making a purchase as was told I would get $15 refund. Instead they charged my visa $3. It's not a lot but I thought I was still working with Gap inc & it wasn't clear this was another corporation.
There was an account set up under a different name but has my email attached to it. I have never heard of this company and was charged $15.00 for their services. They have a different email attached to my account that has not been active for over a year. When I called to cancel the services they would not transfer me to a manager but claimed they were giving me my money back.
I have had a charge of $15.00 deducted from my bank account each month for May, June and July
I have had a charge of $15.00 deducted from my bank account each month for May, June and July . The latest charge in July caused a insufficient funds charge in the amount of $31.50 from my bank, which is how I realized this unauthorized amount was being taken from my account. I called my bank and they said i would need to contact this company. I called the number they gave me, ***. The call wouldn't even go through. Now I have to make a trip to my bank to get a new card. I want this company to refund the total of $45.00 they've scammed from me and pay the $31.50 insufficient finds charge. I've never authorized a purchase from Smarty LLC, *** I d I give my bank information to them. After seeing the other complaints about this company it seems they are acquiring this information fraudulently. How can so many people have the same exact experience. Now their supposed contact number won't even work. This company needs to be stopped.

i booked a parking spot at phl. airport. somehow i must have signed in to smarty plus now we had to charges for $19. on our credit card on 8/5 and 8/10. I have tried login in to an account and keep being told my email is not valid. all I want is to be deleted from their system and the charges to stop. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thank You
The date of the original transaction was a few days ago, they charged my bank account $19. I had seen a program they had to find people; you paid $1 but all of a sudden there was a $19 charge on my bank statement. I called and got someone who barely speaks english and told him in no uncertain terms as I did on the program that I was not interested in it and it said okay. So I recvd my $19 back, but now there is a $13 charge from them I have no idea what it's for/from I have not used that program. So I need my $13 back please!
The mentioned company has charged my account for services that were not authorized and they do not offer assistance to consumers that are victims of their fraudulent activity.
I am trying to cancel this account which I did not sign up for. I've reported this before and the company verified the charges but refused to refund me based on the email address I used. The email should not matter - they verified it was MY credit card. I finally was able to get into the account and now know they are using the email I use only to log in to Facebook. This means somehow they were able to get my information. I would like to be credited for 5 months of charges of $19.00 on the 18th of each month starting in April and one charge of $3.00 on April 11th. This is my second request to the company. I did try again to contact the company and my online request fails stating it is unable to verify Captcha. If this is a legitimate company, why can't I contact them? Very frustrated.
March 3 ($3.00) March 10 ($15.00) April 10 ($15.00) all 3 transactions taken from my Account without my knowledge or approval
March 3 ($3.00) March 10 ($15.00) April 10 ($15.00) all 3 transactions taken from my Account without my knowledge or approval. My Financial Institution and I had a three-way conference over the phone. Smartyplus rep. Supervisor *** said they would return all 3 amounts and cancel my account with them (***) on April 13. April 14, I received one $15 back. Questioned other two withdrawals ($15 & 3) thru 8 phone calls & 2 supervisors. May 5, told it would be acted upon in 2 hours to 2 days (Sup. Chanel). May 11, conference call ( 3rd time) told SMARTYPLUS would have to return my $ with a signature voucher- due to my having to close my debit card from the FRAUD action they committed on my card. When you call ***, no person you talked to earlier exists. I didn't ask or sign up for their SERVICE. PLEASE RETURN my May 3, $3 and May 10, $15. I did not appreciate the run around, hang ups and rudeness of SMARTYPLUS phone staff

I have been charged a monthly fee from a company that I NEVER authorized permission to my personal information
I have been charged a monthly fee from a company that I NEVER authorized permission to my personal information. I have no idea how this is even remotely legal. But apparently if you are shopping on line and you get a pop up and accidently hit it or hit the x and miss it you are automatically enrolled in some sort of BS shopping coupon scam. They have charged me 15.00 monthly since May and I did not catch it until today. There was no number or information on the transaction from my bank. But I did find the company buy googling the name. I called them to complain and they could CARE LESS that I was upset about being charged for something I NEVER gave the ok to do not to mention get my credit card info from who? i wanted to know. This is obviously a huge scam unscrupulous company who needs to be shut down. I have not idea how this is legal to do when I never signed up or gave the ok to charge anything not to mention a reoccurring monthly deduction to my account. . Lori Pegram

On June 28 I made a purchase on line with Amazon
On June 28 I made a purchase on line with Amazon. I had made numerous purchases before and had no problem. However, this time when I went to check out it prompted me to sign up for "Prime" which I did. Unknowingly a popup window with the name Smarty Plus appeared, I had to click on it to remove it and I was not aware of the SCAM that was taking place at the time. I proceeded to check out and paid for my purchase. On June 29 my bank account had a debit card charge from Smarty LLC and on July 06 I was charged $19.00 for a one year subscription fee from the same company! This is a fraudulent means to get access to your bank information I have had to get a "new" debit card for a $10 fee. I sent an email to Smarty LLC on 7/28 asking them to refund the $22 plus the $10 debit card fee; no answer as of today. I read some reviews and I am not the only one with this same complaint. Any help Complaintsboard.com can provide in resolving this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

On February 10th 2022, I was browsing a sports apparel web site named "fanatics" I seen a discount code to save $10 dollars for my purchase. I assumed it was through fanatics since I was on their website. When I started putting my card info I was under the impression that I was at the check out. Only when I was done putting my card info it routed me to "smarty's". I Immediately tried leaving the browser but it would not let me. Later I checked my account and seen that they charged me $3.00. So I found their contact information and sent an email asking to get my $3.00 back. They responded stating that my membership will be canceled, which I never intended to join in the first place. This morning I saw a email from someone named *** stating that I paid someone named *** $439.99. Which I have no idea who these people are.? I put a hold on my debit card. I feel I have been scammed and would like to know what smartys is and who these people are? Please help. Thank you.

I have a recurring charge on my account I don't know what it's for
I have a recurring charge on my account I don't know what it's for. Somehow I must have clicked a wrong button when trying to purchase a Christmas gift for my wife. I have no idea what this company is, or how they have access to my bank card. I tried to contact them on their website, but they don't respond. They charged my card thrice on different dates in November and December . I contacted my bank and today got letters from them saying I had signed up for a recurring charge from this company. I have no memory of doing this. I never shop online, but I bought my wife something from pajamagram for Christmas and tried to follow all of the directions on the screen. That's the only thing I've used my card for shopping online. I went to the website and looked up how to cancel my account, the only thing they said is that they would email me directions, but nothing is ever sent. The phone number from the invoice my bank sent to me is not reachable. The Card entry method is internet, for the first charge, then card on file for the next two the authorization codes are different each time the card type is not disclosed. The account number is not provided. I would appreciate any help you can give me in cancelling this service. They can even keep the money they've charged me. It's just an expensive reminder to never shop online again.

On October 11th, I signed up for a 7 day trial for "Smarty Plus" a subscription cash-back program offered by Smarty LLC, of Los Angeles, CA. The trial cost $1.99 I believe for the 7 days. The offer was advertised after completing an eBay purchase. The offer was for a $15 rebate, provided that a purchase was made through the company's website. I met these requirements with a purchase at Walmart the same day I signed up (please see attached PDF). The terms of the rebate were to wait for 6-8 weeks. The rebate form had to completed on the website, and I did this, as required on October 11th. The rebate claim # is: ***. So now, 8 weeks later I go to check the status of the rebate. No response from Smarty. I tried to reach the company by phone (310)***. I sent various emails (attached) to ***@*** and ***@***. They are ignoring me. This is par for the course for ***, unfortunately. This company is engaging in false advertising, and not delivering on their promise to issue said rebate to the customer and then hiding behind "differe100nt departments", and an email address that is not answered (***@***) This is abusive, deceptive behavior and any potential customers of this product should know they're an unscrupulous company that is not worthy of your business. My requested remedy is the $15 as promised, plus a $200 of compensation for my time which I've had to waste on creating this complaint along with others (California State Attorney General, various Los Angeles licensing agencies, etc).

About October 29,2021 we were renewing our subscription to the Bakersfield Californian and a question came up did we want a discount that appeared that was originated from the newspaper-it took us to the Smartyplus site which still appeared as being from the newspaper we started providing them with information when we releised that we was not dealing with the newspaper at which time we closed it down and thought it was over. We contacted the newspaper by phone and they had never heard of Smartyplus and we then renewed our subscription by phone -not using Smarty Plus. A charge of $3 dated October 29 appeared on our Capitol One Card and then a charge of $19 dated December 5,2021 appeared on our Capitol One card We attempted to discuss this with Smatyplus and basically was taken in a circle with them attempting to gather more information. We contacted Capitol one and they reversed the two charges and closed down our credit card and issued a new one. About February 6 2022 another charge appeared on our card and upon investigation found that Smartyplus has managed to charge or card with two more $19 charges so contacted Capitol One and we along with Capitol one attempted to resolve this with Smarty one and again was taken in a circular route requesting more and more information. At this time Capitol One has removed all charges from our account. We have not asked for nor received any discounts from Smartyplus Smartyplus has never sent us any communications or funds. All we are asking for is for Smartyplus to stop billing our accounts and close any accounts that they have with us.

While ordering on a website, a pop-up offering 'instant savings' appeared, misleadingly linked to Target.
While placing an order on a website on 1/14/22, a pop-up offering 'instant savings' appeared. It seemed to be part of the Target.com checkout process. After interacting with it, I didn't need to provide additional information, such as credit card details. Despite the promise of savings, my Target order total remained unchanged. The next day, I noticed a $3.00 charge from the pop-up's service on my credit card, and a week later, another $19.00 charge. Contacting the service's customer support, I learned these were subscription fees, which I hadn't knowingly agreed to. The support agent agreed to refund the charges and cancel the subscription after I expressed my concerns about the deceptive sign-up. I received emails confirming the cancellation and refunds, which also reflected on my credit card account. Although I couldn't file a formal dispute due to the reversal of charges, I reported the incident to my credit card's fraud department and filed a complaint for the deceptive practice.

The want to hide their monthly deductions. Other legit businesses send an email or text that will tell you they're deducting money from your financial account, includes amount and date. From what I recall, I signed up thinking it was part of my Safeway order. I had no idea that it was separate from Safeway.
Just wondering why there is this mysterious $19 charge on my debit card, Aug 5th. when I don't know what smartyplus.net even is. And never signed up or did a subscription for.
