I purchased a Toyota Venza 2023 on July 24th 2023, with my first payment due September 7th. Enrolled in SETF autopay in August 3rd, and they unexpectedly withdrew the first payment in August 7th, not September 7th.
When I called to complain, I was told not to worry, the August payment would be recognized and applied in September, with no payment taken out of my bank account for September. It "had been my fault for setting up autopay too early" (!) because the computer would take the money out every 7th regardless of month.
Trustingly, I didn't request a refund for the August payment and let them keep the payment. Then, yesterday I find out my checking account is overdrawn because SETF took the September payment out anyway.
Called again, and they can't put the money back in my checking account, but will take 14 business days to issue a paper check and won't, under any circumstance, issue an electronic refund.
Trying to go up the chain of command to complaint is useless. The supervisor I finally spoke with, after being put on hold numerous times by the first rep, told me their "Finance department do not interact with customers" and "me is as far as you will get".
Desired outcome: Immediate electronic refund to my bank account with a month's interest. Explain why I was told that no money would be withdrawn for September because the August payment would be applied.
