To Whom It May Concern,
I am filing a formal complaint regarding the repeated power shutoffs in our small community while nearby areas remain unaffected. Our weather conditions are identical to larger communities just a few miles away, yet we are disproportionately impacted.
We lost power Jan. 7-10, had it restored briefly, then lost it again on Jan. 11 in the evening, with no estimated restoration until Wednesday. Meanwhile, Crestline, Rim Forest, and areas up and down the mountain still have power. This is becoming an ongoing and unjustifiable pattern.
These outages are not just an inconvenience — they are making daily life unlivable. I have already lost $400 in groceries from the last outage, and now I face further losses. More critically, because I am on a well system, no power means no water. That means no drinking water, no showers, no laundry, and extreme difficulty managing basic needs.
Edison keeps saying to “prepare” for outages. How does one realistically prepare for being without power and water for three days or more? I don’t have the financial means to “prepare” for extended outages, nor should I have to. Larger communities remain unaffected, and it seems we are deprioritized simply because we are smaller and generate fewer complaints.
I demand a clear explanation as to why our power is cut so frequently while others remain unaffected. If this is an infrastructure issue, what is Edison doing to fix it? We deserve the same level of service and reliability as surrounding areas.
I expect a prompt response with a valid explanation and a plan to prevent unnecessary, prolonged outages in our community.
Sincerely,
Melanie Tonkinson

Claimed loss: Over 300.00 in groceries. On a well so if no power I don’t have water either. How prepare for arbitrary multiple day outages? No money to “prepare”
Desired outcome: Reimbursement of grocery money as well as discount on Edison Bill.
