We called Southwest Plumbing to fix a leak in our house, leaking downstairs into our laundry room Friday night. They scheduled an appointment for us Sat at 8AM. They arrived around 9:15 AM. We showed them the leak (which we had stopped by turning off the water to the house the evening before) and they deduced that it was probably coming from behind the refrigerator directorly above. They moved the refrigerator, cut a 12 x 12 inch hole in the sheet rock and there was the hole in the pipe caused by a nail. They welded the nail hole and charged us $1200.00 for less than 2 hours of work!AND $577.00 of the fee was for a so-called "leak detection" when in fact, they only looked at the leak from below and guessed where it might be coming from above. There were no additional parts needed or leak detection equipment used, they just "figured" it was coming from above and it was. Unfortunately we paid the fee because we had 3 kids, with no water and were in a rush to have the water turned on so we cld simply flush the toilets, and brush our teeth. I will NEVER use them again and tell everyone I know NEVER to use them ever! They are scam artists and grossly overcharged us for their services.
~Ripped Off customer
right before the holidays, shame on them!
This reminds me of the story of the doctor who had a patient that complained about his prices. His response was to hand the scalpel to the patient and say" OK You go ahead and do it and Ill watch. The repair of the pipe is important, but the knowing where to look and how to fix it is even more impotant. Also, the market dictates the price... The more urgent, the more expensive. Every industry operates on this principal. You want it now ... it's gonna cost more. You need it now.. it's gonna cost even more.
Bottom line is this... We solved the problem quickly and effectively. All of the charges were explained before the work was done, Our diagnosis was correct, and the customer was back in service that same day.
