I contacted South West Plumbing to unclog a drain in my home. They told me that the drain pipes all needed to be "repitched" and some of them replaced. This is on a six year old house. They gave me an estimate of $4.787.00. When I questioned that amount I was told that the rate comes from their "rate book" and that any other plumber would charge the same amount. As it turns out, they replaced a section of pipe, total cost for time spent was about $1.600.00 per hour. The topper is that when finished, the drain still didn't work, I had to hire another plumber who charged $150.00 and had the job done in 30 minutes. When I stopped payment on the check, they put a lien on my home. Court case pending. BEWARE, DO NOT use SouthWest Plumbing of Seattle to do any work for you.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I only question why you didn't get other estimates from different plumbers.
What Mr Shoaf did not say is that the heating company that installed the ducts for his home had cut most of the straps that hold the plumbing inplac. We all know that water must run down hill. when the straps were cut, the sagging pipes did not allow the water to flow. We had to replace all of the pipes under his home because they were plastic and had warped. we would simply rehang them if that were possible. As it turns out, the courts agree with us and Mr Shoaf has been ordered to pay.
This case did go to court and Mr Shoaf was found in the wrong and South West was found to have done everything correct.
My Dad recently called Southwest Plumbing to our home to do warranty work on a toilet installation and repair they not only egregiously overcharged us for, it now appears, but didn't install right in the first place!
It doesn't end there, Southwest Plumbing is an absolutely deplorable enterprise who take advantage of the elderly (the elderly are easy prey for an outfit like this, because comfort is very important to someone getting along in age, and money simply doesn't mean as much to them, as it does those with their whole lives ahead of them.
While they were here fixing the toilet they didn't install right, my dad asked them to take a look at a leak under the kitchen sink he was planning on having them fix, as well-this is before we realized how much they had overcharged us on the toilet.
After telling us we needed a new garbage disposal, dad was already to sign another contract until I intervened. I get a substantial discount on any merchandise Lowe's carries, so I knew it would be cheaper to buy the disposal from them, and make arrangements for the installation later. What I didn't know then, was just how shockingly large the discrepancy would be, between the quote we received from Southwest Plumbing, and the much lower price we eventually paid to Lowe's and a plumber they subcontracted out the installation to.
Southwest plumbing's quote for an InSinkErator 3/4 horsepower garbage disposal and installation, not including the sales tax, was $1, 100, after deducting the infamous $50 coupon they lure the unwary in with.
The price Lowe's charged us for pretty much the same disposal, installation and warranty, was about $300, sans the sales tax. After using a couple of insider tricks I know, the entire job including the sales tax, wound up costing us around $240, nearly one-fifth what Southwest tried to put over on us, for the second time!
Steer far and wide of these creeps!
