over charges for fees, I am switiching to another (many others) and yearly is $265.00 accountig is in house. They can't show a credit on my account but they can show a charge.

I was introduce to them 2017 found out they just opened that year, The past 2 years I questioned if the man Retire on Rent Michael was an investor with them? as I have lost so much money instead of making money with this company fees are based on your assets and then they raised my home value with out discussing it with me and charged the percentage on the higher amount even though I don't have that money in my account?

I luv self-directed investing and gotta say, the peeps at Specialized Trust Company are top-notch. They deserve an A++ rating, no doubt.

Specialized Trust Company is all about marketing and they charge really high fees. They convinced us to go for a plan that was way too big for what we actually needed. They kept our retirement funds in cash for a whole year and slapped us with over $9,000 in fees. You should definitely look for a better custodian.

We chatted with a relative who's a client of Specialized Trust Company and figured we'd give 'em a shout. Let me tell ya, this company is top-notch. They genuinely wanna lend a hand to me and my fam, and their service is outta this world. Every person I've talked to there has been super pro and friendly. I'm stoked to team up with 'em and get my fam on track for an awesome future.

I had a bunch of bad experiences with Specialized Trust Company. The worst part was when I wanted to start a self-directed Roth IRA. The law says I have to have it for 5 years before I can take out any money. So I gave my money to Specialized and set up the Roth IRA. I had to pay $2,000 to set up the Roth IRA and a 401(k). That price included talking to the owner, Edwin Kelly. I would ask some questions every now and then, but I never really got any good answers. I didn't understand how my Roth IRA and 401(k) were supposed to work together. It seemed like there were only two departments: Sales and Paper Processing. If you weren't a client, you talked to sales. If you were already a client, you talked to paper processing. Finally, I got suspicious and pushed harder. Specialized admitted that even though they set up the IRA, they never put any money in it. So the 5-year clock hadn't started yet. What? And this was after 5 years, so I had been paying fees for an unfunded Roth IRA for 5 years. The online statements only showed account numbers, so I couldn't tell what was funded and what wasn't. Plus, their fees are way higher than other companies. They charge around $1,500 or more a year, while other companies charge less than half that. They were taking fees for years for an account that wasn't fully set up. Also, I wanted to set up a brokerage account to invest in stocks or mutual funds. But this self-directed IRA doesn't let you do that. And if you want any advice, there's only one guy, let's call him Ed, who can help you...if you pay $14,000. If you don't pay, you get someone else who says only Ed can help. Remember, there are only two "departments": sales and paper processing. No, I didn't pay $14,000. So, my advice is to stay away from Specialized Trust Company.

I've been trying to close my account with Specialized Trust Company since March. They told me it usually takes 8 weeks, but it's been almost 16 weeks now and my account is still open. I've been calling and requesting to speak with an account manager, but no one ever calls me back. I've also sent emails asking for an update, but I never hear back from them. It's making me question if there's some shady stuff happening at Specialized IRA Services. I'm starting to think they don't even have my money in my account. They're supposed to be taking care of my personal IRA, but they're not doing their job.
