I applied over the phone with Spring Financial for a loan (NOTE: Spring sells loans for other companies, in this instance, easyfinancial). During the closing portion of the call and the beginning of the call that discussed their "Foundation" product, I had second thoughts and brought up the high interest rate. I brought this up a couple of times, and was told if I made all of my payments, I could call back in 90 days to get a better rate (the loan is 39.99%, and the guy told me I could get anywhere between 10-15%).
A couple of weeks later, it dawned on me I didn't get a number or person who I would contact to discuss this. So, I spoke to a rep at easyfinancial (Daina Leeder) to find out this isn't even something easyfinancial offers! I wouldn't have taken the loan if I knew I was stuck with 39.99%.
I had multiple calls to Spring fix this, with a couple of these times having reps from Spring admit I was given improper information, but still refuse to do anything to help. I was asked the first time I was told that the agent made an error if I wanted to escalate the call to management, to which I agreed, only to find out when I called back to find out what was going on, I had to request a call back (a few times! because no one was getting back to me) and found out that the call wasn't even escalated.
I got BBB involved and then this is when Spring claimed that the calls were done with proper protocol, even though they had already admitted twice the agent who handled my file "made an error". To add to this, I had a woman (Aussie accent, I unfortunately didn't catch her name) CALL me and tell me the agent made an error, she understands how disappointing it must be to have someone promise something that can't be delivered, then proceeded to tell me that where they sell the loan on behalf of easyfinancial, there was nothing they could do. She even asked if I wanted her to forward our call directly to easyfinancial, as it may be beneficial for me to discuss a better rate if she started the conversation. I was transferred to find out she didn't even bother to tell them what was going on, but ironically enough, I was transferred to Daina Leeder again, the first rep I spoke to when I called looking for the contact to reach out to after the 90 days.
I've asked Spring for the closing portion and the Foundation portion of the call so I could listen and pinpoint exactly where I was misled, but they won't even respond to this request. The calls are there for quality assurance, so I don't know why they wouldn't want to prove to me that they did, in fact, follow protocol.
Desired outcome: The interest rates I was led to believe I was going to get, or a shorter term w/same amt/biweekly. easyfinancial confirmed that my loan could be reviewed if I was misled, but Spring refused to give them the calls that would prove this.
