This company sent my company a letter stating that we need to pay back an amount due to a billing error
This company sent my company a letter stating that we need to pay back an amount due to a billing error. This amount had already been recouped by Anthem. After reading the reviews about this company, it really makes me question their integrity. In the first place, why would Anthem pay a collection agency when they recoup for free.

This debt collection company should be reported for their fraudulent tactics!
This debt collection company should be reported for their fraudulent tactics! According to this fraudulent company, my father and I owe $817 in debt. I received the letter on 06/27. This doesn't make sense to me as I looked at the previous complaints made towards this company and they told me it was a balance due because of my kid's vehicle. I called both the insurance company (Security National Insurance Company) and the debt collection agency (Lamont, Hanley & Associates) on 06/29. They told me I owe this debt but didn't give me a specific reason why. I asked to be transferred to someone who could explain to me in further detail why I was being charged this money. I held for 45 minutes and no one ever answered. I then called my car insurance company and they told me that a payment was made to another insurance company from a car crash that occurred about 3 years ago where my son got into a fender bender. I then asked if the payment was deferred to another company and they told me the payment was made in full and that I didn't owe a single penny to anything that was tied to the car (2003 Nissan 350Z).
Lamont Hanley sent me a collection letter for an alleged $138 Anthem benefit overpayment that I already repaid (copy of cashed check attached
Lamont Hanley sent me a collection letter for an alleged $138 Anthem benefit overpayment that I already repaid (copy of cashed check attached hereto). Lamont Hanley Account #: *** Patient ID: ***XXXXX Amount Claimed (but already paid on 10/24): $138.90 On October 11, I paid Anthem $138.90 via Chase Bank check # 1056 as payment in full for a claimed overpayment of benefits provided by Anthem. That check for $138.90 was cashed by Anthem on October 24 to Anthem's PNC Bank Account (routing #XXXXXXXXX; account #: XXXXXX). Despite paying the claimed amount, I received multiple letters from Anthem claiming this amount was unpaid. See attached copy of one of several such letters claiming this amount was still unpaid - note the date of the letter attached is after the date of the cleared check where payment was made. I called Anthem several times and was told that Anthem had in fact received the payment. Anthem also stated that they would ensure the payment was properly reflected in their records and that the matter was concluded. However, despite having paid the claimed amount and notifying Anthem several times that the amount had been paid and received confirmation directly from Anthem that they had in fact received the payment, Anthem nonetheless referred this matter to Lamont, Hanley & Associates Inc. ("Lamont") for collections per a letter from Lamont dated February 7. Contemporaneous with this complaint, Lamont was contacted by phone and is receiving a letter placing them on notice that the claimed amount was previously paid to Anthem and is again directed to the attached check cashed by Anthem. This claim is not valid as the amount has been paid and accordingly the undersigned hereby continues to dispute the validity of any such claim for $138.90 as set forth by Anthem and Lamont. The actions of Anthem (and by extension Lamont) in cashing a check for the claimed amount which was timely paid upon receipt of the original request but deliberately refusing to acknowledge receipt of the amount, continuing to send collection letters with false and misleading statements that the claim was still unpaid, and then referring the already as paid claim to a collection agency who, in the form of Lamont, then threatened collection action with the associated damage to my credit record for an amount that is not even a legitimate claim or an outstanding debt of any kind - constitutes harassment and abuse by Anthem and Lamont based upon false and misleading representations and an improper validation of the claimed debt, all in an intentional and willful attempt to intimidate and inflict damage to my person including attempting to extract a duplicate payment of the same amount which was already paid last year - all of this in violation of federal and state laws, most notably - multiple provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (Pub. L. 95-109; 91 Stat. 874, codified as 15 U.S.C. § 1692 -1692p) including but not limited to: Section 806 prohibiting harassment and abuse, Section 807 prohibiting false and misleading representations, Section 808 prohibiting unfair practices, and, Section 809 as to validation of debts; and, multiple similar provisions of Texas Fair Debt Collection Practices Act § 392.201. The alleged claim is not valid and in dispute, as the amount of 138.90 has been paid. I demand Lamont to notify Anthem to stop this collection matter immediately. I demand Lamont immediately provide me with the name, address and contact information of the original creditor and the current creditor (if different from the original). Finally, I demand verification, in writing - via ordinary mail and electronic mail - that Lamont has not reported this matter to any credit reporting agency or bureau and, if it has so reported, to immediately correct this false and damaging (mis)representation. ComplaintsBoard.com, I am also filing a separate complaint against Anthem for pursuing this claim that was already paid. I am particularly concerned their lack of acknowledgement of the claim will damage my credit.
