Excellent prompt customer service by Anjali
Excellent prompt customer service by Anjali. I would recommend this company to anyone! Thank you.
Review:
I had a great experience with Square One Insurance Services. Their customer service, especially Anjali, was really good. They were quick to respond and helped me with all my queries. I would totally recommend this company to everyone. Thank you so much!
Square One Insurance Services is the worst!
Square One Insurance Services is the worst! Their customer service is terrible and their advertising is so misleading. They claim to offer "easy online quotes," but that's a total lie. And if you dare to question them about it, the managers will just ignore you.
Square One Insurance Services is absolutely terrible
Square One Insurance Services is absolutely terrible. They promised me coverage and took my payment, but then, just two days later, they changed my coverage and refused to refund my payment. Can you believe it? And to make matters worse, this happened a whole month before my coverage was even supposed to start. I strongly advise you to stay away from these guys. They are a complete disaster!
The company really confuses its customers when it comes to the referral program
The company really confuses its customers when it comes to the referral program. In the online account, there ain't no link to the "Terms and conditions" of the referral program. The terms and conditions they got there actually talk about some contest and not the referral program.
I had condo insurance with Square One, but they denied my claim for no reason
I had condo insurance with Square One, but they denied my claim for no reason. The claim adjuster couldn't give a good enough reason for denying it. It's a terrible feeling to pay for insurance and then when you need to make a claim, they just shrug it off. I'm considering taking them to court for this.
My credit card went missing so I canceled it
My credit card went missing so I canceled it. At the same time, SquareOne went to take their payment. I didn't know, so they canceled it after 7 days. I opened up my email and found a letter that they canceled my insurance without even telling me. Now I have a flag and higher premiums because they couldn't even bother trying to get ahold of me. I have perfect credit and never miss payments on anything. They could've at least let me know the payment was declined before canceling my coverage.
Worst customer service and experience
Worst customer service and experience. I had tenant insurance with Square One Insurance Services. My property got stolen, and because both my sporting goods limit of 5000 and deductible of 5000 on my policy, I wasn't able to replace my stolen property because of my policy. It was an honest mistake on my part filing the policy application through their online automated system. No one reviewed my policy and saw that both my limit and deductible were the same, which means I pay out of my pocket to replace my property. No one, not even the CEO Mr. Daniel M, who apparently has 25 years experience in the insurance industry and is an expert at various insurance expertise, said in a nice way, "Too bad you signed that policy. Can't do anything about my stolen property." Great business you are running, Mr. M. Thank you for your business that cost me to replace my stolen property, and I've been paying every month for nothing. Where is the principle, Mr. M?
So, someone said that Square One Insurance Services is not worth the money, and I have to agree
So, someone said that Square One Insurance Services is not worth the money, and I have to agree. A few years back, this company from British Columbia decided to change their policies. They thought it was a good idea to separate homeowners unit protection and charge an extra $7 per month for it. Can you believe that? It's basically the same insurance as before, but now it's way more expensive. It's a total rip-off!
And guess what? When we had an issue, we found out that we weren't even covered. I was shocked! We were paying a fortune for this insurance, and it didn't even protect anything in our unit. This company is the absolute worst! I warn you, potential buyers, stay away! And when I called to complain, the person on the other end gave me attitude and said, "I just work here." Well, thanks for nothing! You represent the company, so you should care!
Whether you're a renter or an owner, find a more trustworthy company. I've never been so disappointed in my life. Seriously, go with someone else. If you ever need to make a claim, you'll regret choosing Square One Insurance Services. And let me tell you, the premiums keep going up every year, even though we haven't made any claims. It's just ridiculous!
I can't stress enough how terrible this company is. Stay away from them at all costs!
I had a great experience with Square One!
I had a great experience with Square One! I was arguing with my personal insurance company, who I've been insured with for over 5 years, and thought their rates were unrealistic for my new home. My mom sent me a link for this company and at first, I was a bit unsure about dealing with a mostly online insurance company, but I decided to give it a try anyway. The first agent, Nicole, was really nice and responsive. She explained everything in detail and was patient with my many questions. The next day, I called back to finalize my quote and spoke to a very kind, polite, and patient gentleman named David H. He took his time to answer all my questions and even suggested ways I could increase my coverage while keeping my costs down. He explained an important condition on my coverage, which I thought was fair, and told me about the cancellation fee when I asked. I give this company and their agents an A+! The only suggestion would be to explain the cancellation fee upfront, as I see a lot of complaints about that online. Other than that small mistake, I would highly recommend this company because they were responsive, timely, and saved me 30% on my premiums compared to my long-time traditional insurance company!
I lost my credit card and needed to update my credit card information with Square One Insurance Services
I lost my credit card and needed to update my credit card information with Square One Insurance Services. I provided them with the new information and thought everything was taken care of. However, when I logged into my online banking on February 28th, I realized that my February payment had not been made. I immediately called Square One to find out what happened, only to discover that my insurance had been cancelled on February 27th. The worst part was that the cancellation letter hadn't even been printed yet.
When I spoke to the first representative, he told me there was nothing he could do and claimed that emails had been sent. I informed him that I hadn't received any emails or phone calls, but he simply blamed it on a glitch in the system and said there was nothing they could do for me. As a result, my premium would almost double. I decided to speak to a manager, hoping for a different outcome. However, the manager told me that it was all up to Square One underwriting and there was nothing they could do, even though I was calling on the day of the cancellation.
It's frustrating because I had been monitoring my accounts and would have never known that my insurance was cancelled if I hadn't checked. We have been with Square One for four years without any issues, so you would think they would at least give their clients a phone call before cancelling. We can't rely on electronic means 24/7 because glitches happen, and in this case, it has cost me a lot. It's clear that they don't care about the little person.
I would not recommend Square One Insurance Services unless you monitor your accounts daily. If glitches occur, they won't take any responsibility. Even when the client calls in on the day of cancellation, willing and trying to pay, they still don't help.
They not honest or polite people
They not honest or polite people. I buy tenant insurance online, and then I realize the amount I agree to was actually a lot more expensive than I think, so I cancel within an hour by calling in. I use Square One before for a different unit, and never contact customer service as I never make any claims. The agent, Nicole, say they keep $50 as it non-refundable. I don't think this right because I buy on May 6 for June 1, and cancel on May 6. They provide no service to me and I get a different insurance provider when I on the phone with Square One. I don't want to fight about the money as I just want to finish arranging for my move in June. I ask via email when to expect my refund as I don't see it. The next agent that email me say it be 5-10 business days. I wait, and receive nothing and the charge on my credit card go from authorized to posted. I email again, and Jas (Director or Sales), say the policy not come into effect until June 1, and they can't cancel until it come in to effect. (I don't want it to come into effect because I don't want it to show I have two insurance providers at the same time, because again I don't want there service). She say normally my refund issue on June 1 and take the 5 - 10 business days after that to reflect on my credit card. So that be a full month they keep my $149, a month where I have to pay interest on a service I never use. She claim she do a manual refund (minus my $50 of course because for some reason they have to retain $50 for provide me with no actual insurance coverage and horrible customer service). Her email come across like I should be grateful she manually do this. But she still not answer my question as to why I have a confirmation email say the coverage cancel for June 1, but I not supposed to expect anything until a month and half after I charge my credit card. She also yet to answer why it not explain to me to expect cancellation for June 1. Not the day I cancel it (May 6). I not recommend using Square One, the team rude and not properly explain anything. I don't even think I get anything back at this point.

I got this home insurance policy with this company, starting from April 1 till March 31, 2022, and they billed my premium to my credit
I got this home insurance policy with this company, starting from April 1 till March 31, 2022, and they billed my premium to my credit card. But here's the thing, my credit card expired on September 30, and I didn't bother updating the new info (like the CCV number) with the company 'cause I wanted to end my policy. But guess what? The company kept charging my credit card, even though they didn't have my new CCV number. They were taking $21.16 from me every month. I only noticed this recently and I quickly canceled my policy, effective March 1, 2022. So now, I want a refund from the company for the time they were charging my credit card, which is from October 21 to February 22. That's like 5 times $21.16, which is $101.80. And I think they should also pay me 20% interest, making the total amount $121.26. I even uploaded a copy of my credit card statement to show them how they charged me.
Sept 21, 2022 - I made arrangements to cancel a new policy
Sept 21, 2022 - I made arrangements to cancel a new policy. The vendor said they would repay the two months of premiums, but they will keep $50.00 as their policy. The policy was supposed to cover a new property for us. We had a few questions and changes before they issued the coverage. Once I paid, they started asking more questions, and each time it was a different person. Eventually, they realized they couldn't provide a policy because I wasn't living in the property right away. If they had done the quote process correctly, they would have known this before giving me the documents. I think it's unprofessional to lure me in and then deny me coverage. It's not fair that I have to lose $50 because of the company's negligence. They should have resolved all the questions before I paid and received the policy information.
My apartment had a water damage from backup water, so I filed a claim with Square One insurance, which is the company I have my home insurance
My apartment had a water damage from backup water, so I filed a claim with Square One insurance, which is the company I have my home insurance policy with. It's been a whole month and I've been having a hard time dealing with the company. The claim adjuster didn't handle my claim properly, so my son and I have been displaced from our apartment for a month now. The company didn't provide the service they were supposed to. I had a contractor to repair my floors, but I lost him because the Road Adjuster never answered any of my questions about how much the insurance company could cover. So, I couldn't get any information about estimates or any other options, except to sign a contract with their contractor. I signed the contract with their provider, but there has been no work done or communication from any party so far. I asked for another Road Adjuster since my claim is still active and I haven't gotten any resolution yet. I received a voicemail from their manager who left me his phone number and promised to help, but when I call that person, he doesn't answer or return my call.

I overpayed on my policy for an entire year before I realized the mistake
I overpayed on my policy for an entire year before I realized the mistake. It was 100% my mistake and I didn't hesitate to admit that. After the correction was made, I realized that I had been overpaying for my policy by over $30/month for 11months. This means I overpayed last years policy by HUNDREDS of dollars. While I understood that I might not get back the full overpayed amount, I was hoping that the company would be able to meet part-way by crediting my account 2-3 months of payments for my new, and lower-priced policy. I called and spoke to multiple company reps who were of no help. If I were to file a claim and it resulted me in being overpayed, I would legally be obligated to pay the over-payment back. It's frustrating when you explain everything and they don't seem to care.
I've been with Square One for about 18 months now, and for the first time, I needed an extension on my policy to ensure my payment went through
I've been with Square One for about 18 months now, and for the first time, I needed an extension on my policy to ensure my payment went through without any issues. I emailed them a week beforehand and spoke to William, explaining the situation. They were nice and reassured me not to worry, as they would push my payment back a week to ensure its success. To my surprise, I received a notification that they had attempted to withdraw the payment from my bank, and no extension had been applied to my account. I emailed them again and spoke with Jas, who apologized and mentioned that the payment was not suspended. However, she went ahead and suspended it to the date of my original request. Thinking everything was fine, I made my payment a day early. But when I came home for lunch today, I discovered that they had canceled my policy! I emailed them to inquire why, and they gave me a short, smug reply, stating that I didn't email them back for confirmation. Wasn't making my payment considered confirmation? I have kept all the emails as proof that the mistake was on their end.
I've had insurance with Square One for over two years now, and back in February, I experienced a loss at my home
I've had insurance with Square One for over two years now, and back in February, I experienced a loss at my home. Dealing with the claim process has been incredibly challenging due to the lack of communication, which is totally unacceptable. My loss occurred in February, and a week later, I was assigned an adjuster to handle my claim. However, my adjuster was fired from their company, and no one bothered to inform me about this change or what I needed to do next. So, I ended up waiting for three weeks without any return calls or updates. Finally, when I managed to get in touch with the adjuster's company, they informed me that he was no longer with them and introduced me to my new adjuster. This was basically a month after my claim had started. Since then, there has been a significant lack of communication. My adjuster rarely returns my calls, and most of my emails go unanswered. It's been over 90 days now, and my claim still hasn't been settled. I've been given the runaround, and I'm really not happy about it. This is not what I paid for in terms of coverage. The adjuster mentioned that he's been extremely busy with other cases, which is why he hasn't been able to fulfill his obligations towards me. If that's the case, shouldn't I be assigned a third adjuster who actually has time for my claim? This whole situation is just dragging on, and I really want to move on with my life and have my valuables replaced. I feel like the insurance company isn't taking things seriously at all. Whenever I reach out to the Square One contact center, no one seems to have any answers for me. It's incredibly difficult for me to get in touch with my adjuster, so I'm left wondering where to go from here.
I took out renters insurance through SquareOne from around March 17 until recently, when we left Vancouver and moved to Australia
I took out renters insurance through SquareOne from around March 17 until recently, when we left Vancouver and moved to Australia. On November 19th, we flew to Melbourne, Australia on a 1:10pm flight from Vancouver airport. As we were packing our car outside our residence earlier that morning to leave for the airport, we think a bag got taken by someone passing by, because when we got to the airport, the bag was missing from the trunk. After arriving in Australia, we filed a police report and made a claim with SquareOne, since we hadn't left our residence yet and were still officially tenants. We had paid rent until November 30th, and hadn't moved out yet. SquareOne is saying that because we were 'on our way' to moving elsewhere, they won't cover our claim. However, we hadn't left yet and weren't on our way. We still spent hours in and out of our suite, organizing and packing, and we were considered tenants by law since we were still paying rent. Not only won't they cover the loss of our items from in front of our residence, which fits their policy, but they were terrible to deal with. The process dragged on for months, and we tried countless times to contact them and speak with someone, but they always said someone would call us back and then they never did. Over the phone, my partner was told that we needed to keep paying our insurance to make the claim, so we ended up paying for our insurance for several extra months. Later, we found out that wasn't true. I want SquareOne to honor their policy and reimburse us for our lost items. Dealing with them was very unprofessional, and if they don't cover property stolen from in front of our rental, then I don't see the point at all and would advise others to stay away.
I had a claim in 2019 due to wind damage
I had a claim in 2019 due to wind damage. My deductible was $1000, and the cost of the repair, as per the quote that was sent to me, was around $1000. Square One had given me an option to either pay from my pocket or proceed with the claim. Since this is below the deductible, I had decided to close the claim and hire a contractor to complete the job. On the day of the incident, Square One Insurance had sent a contractor to temporarily attach the sidings to avoid further damages and to provide a quote to complete the job, which amounted to $1000 as mentioned. As for my end, I have hired a contractor at a more affordable price and did not proceed with the one recommended by Square One. Fast forward to 2022, I am receiving an email that I have an overdue bill from the contractor. The bill was exactly the same amount they had sent me as a quote. They did not even check on their end if they had completed the work, yet they are chasing me to pay for it. I had informed the adjustor and supervisor about the situation, however, I am not getting anywhere to settle this matter. As part of the claiming process, there has to be full disclosure regarding my financial responsibilities based on the service provided. Nothing was mentioned, and my claim was updated that the job got completed. I am currently communicating with the adjustor, and I offered to lower the bill to $500, which is unrealistic because why would I pay the $1000 quote when the contractor did not complete the job. What I am seeking is for this company to take ownership of their mistake and clear the amount that they are chasing from me after 3 years. I am a full-time mom with a full-time job, and for me to spend time chasing this to get cleared out is extremely painful. I would love to utilize my time for my son and not on something that happened 3 years ago.
On Aug 17, 2022, I called Square One to talk about my policy before it gets renewed
On Aug 17, 2022, I called Square One to talk about my policy before it gets renewed. On Aug 20, I followed up and talked to agent Diego R about the jewelry parts of my policy. I used to have coverage for $65000 and listed 3 pieces that were worth more than the basic coverage value of $6000 per piece. I told Mr. R that I got new appraisals for these 3 pieces and needed to review the value of my jewelry coverage. Mr. R and I talked about the new values and the total amount of coverage for all my jewelry. Mr. R calculated the values and told me that my total jewelry coverage was too high and had been that way for the past few years. I wasn't happy about this because it meant my premiums had been higher for no reason during that time. I told him I needed the appraisals on file to be updated and that I would email the new documents, as he instructed, to make it happen. He said I would get an email response once it was done. I sent the email as told. On Sept 1, I got my policy documents from Square One and noticed some issues with the values. I also noticed that I didn't get an email response about the updated appraisals. On Sept 2, I talked to Eran A at Square One. During the call, we confirmed two issues: 1. The values in the updated appraisals I sent to Square One on Aug 20 were never updated even though Square One received them. 2. Mr. R inaccurately identified the value of my jewelry during our call on Aug 20 because he didn't consider adding PST and GST to the values. These issues meant that my premiums would increase to account for both of these mistakes by Square One. I expressed my unhappiness and asked to speak to a supervisor. On Sept 3, 2022, I talked to Hanson W (team lead) and pointed out another mistake with the number of bathrooms since 2020.
We cancelled our policy on April 2nd
We cancelled our policy on April 2nd. They continued to bill us until September. This is unacceptable. They claim the policy was not cancelled. They fraudulently charged us for a policy we had cancelled then claimed we never cancelled.

Hi, ***. I understand that our Director of Sales, Jas S, spoke with you and resolved the matter. If this is not the case, then please let me know. Thank you, Daniel M, President + CEO.
I am a client from Square One Insurence since December
I am a client from Square One Insurence since December . I am blocked to see my policy and claim history. I contacted Square One Insurance 3 times already and the last time I was told that there is an investigation from their end that could take weeks and they do not allow me to check my policy during this investigation that they do not tell me what is about, they do not give a timeframe. NO EXPLANATION at all. I am paying for insurance that I cannot even see the policy.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Dear Mr.:
Thank you for this feedback. I apologize for the confusion in the information provided to you by the agent. There is no current open claim, nor is any investigation in progress.
When policies approach their annual anniversary date, they are routinely reviewed to determine whether a further year's coverage will be offered. When the underwriters are reviewing the policy for its annual review, they are looking to see if the policy fits within those guidelines. Your policy is approaching its annual anniversary date, and as such is under review.
Due to system limitations, policies under review sometimes cannot be viewed from a customer's online account. Although we do know that it is inconvenient not to be able to view your policy online, please rest assured that your policy remains in force, as per the most recent policy PDF that was supplied to you by email.
We also have processes in place so that, while the policy is not viewable online, you can still request changes to your coverage. And, we are able to send you any copies of your policy document, certificate of insurance, and claims experience letters upon request.
If you require any further information, or if you would like to request changes to your policy or copies of your policy documentation, please contact Kristina Wheeler, our operations manager, at kris.wheeler@squareoneinsurance.com.

Setting up the policy was easy, and communication was great
Setting up the policy was easy, and communication was great. Then I actually needed to rely on these guys when my condo flooded. This was the worst insurance experience I've ever had. Square One's number 1 priority was to close my claim as soon as they could. As the matter unfolded I received vague excuses at every corner. Then I was sent 3-4 prods over a highly stressful 5 month period hoping to close the case as soon as possible. Finally, when I actually needed help - when construction started to move forward due to slow strata bureaucracy - I received an automated message saying my case was closed. Luckily my strata are covering some of the cost of damage, but interior repairs fall on me, and Square One wanted no part of it. No explanation, no investigation. The best I got was *** with a $1000.00 deductible - still less than my repairs. *** Positive reviews are plentiful and never specific. Most of them don't deal with any actual insurance claim issues. Negative reviews you have to search for. But there are many upset customers with similar situations. It seems as if Square One's SOP response is that they have no record of whatever disgruntled client complains. Everything I've experienced as part of this process felt wrong, and after starting to have read negative reviews, I'm noticing some red flags worth investigating. I'm proud to live in a country that promotes fair business ethics, and I won't stand for hard-working folk being taken advantage of. I'll be fine in the fallout of having been associated with this *** company, but someone in tougher circumstances may not be.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Hi,
I'm sorry that you're disappointed with your claims experience. Our team has reviewed your claims file in detail. According to our records, the handling adjuster advised you that the claim resulted from a loss type specifically excluded from your policy. In particular, your policy doesn't cover loss or damage resulting from leakage or seepage. Most insurance providers would deny the claim immediately, but the handling adjuster agreed to keep the claim open as a service so that he could provide assistance with your condo corporation, if required. Moreover, we provide customers with the option of withdrawing claims and denials could affect future applications for home insurance.
It's important to note that we cannot remove or change reviews submitted to independent review platforms or other third-party sites. There are many reviews about Square One because we make it easy for customers to leave feedback for us, and we encourage them to do so. While this does increase the number of negative reviews we receive, they are a small fraction of the total as most reviews are genuinely positive.
If you would like to cancel your policy, then you can do so by calling our customer service to speak with an agent; emailing your request to our support team and referencing your policy number; or visiting our website, logging in to your online account, and visiting the policies and quotes section. There is no penalty to cancel, and you will be refunded any unearned premium. We are not, however, in a position to refund past premiums.
Again, I'm sorry that you're disappointed with your claims experience. If you would like to discuss your claim, our claims manager is available to speak with you. Her name is Rena N and she can be reached through our main customer service line.
