I contracted Summit Van Lines to move, store and then return my belongings from my Lauderdale by the Sea home on May 19, 2023. the salesman told me they have been in business for 30 years, they own their own trucks, storage facilities and are fully licensed and insured. He promised me my things would be kept safe. I trusted them. My items were returned to me on August 16, 2023. Kevin the main moving man, arrived with papers in his hand and announced, “Let’s just get this out of the way “ I initialed and signed where he inticated, and the movers quickly moved my belongings back into my home. My items remained in the boxes throughout my apartment. I noticed my bike was not returned with my items. He said he was not part of the initial move, but he was. He said he would be back in 15 minutes with it. I never heard from him again. I had to initiate the phone calls to Summit. As I unpacked, I noticed items missing, a bike, helmet, basket on bike, on loud sneakers, 2 large heavy glass tops for dresser, 2 sets of new queen sheets, 2 sets of king sheets, set of Cornell platters, large box of construction garbage bags, a whole bin of clothes…….. Also damage to my dresser drawers, broken platters…… should I go on. I’ve called Summit Van Lines since August 16, 2023. They say they only are responsible for 60 cents a pound and want me to put in the claim and see what I get and then they will see what they can do. I have called to speak to the owner and have been told he’s out of the office, he’s coming in a few days, now he went out of the country until mid-September. I trusted this company and I’m sorry I did. These items were taken from their facility or their truck that only their workers have access to. They tell you they are insured but truly I was not and there is no reason for them to admit to breaking anything or taking anything because as I read all the complaints and expensive things missing they pay between 75 to 150 dollars total. So tell me what stops them from stealing things from you. At no time was I told I was not insured. This company is disgusting. They don’t care.

Desired outcome: I want to be fully reimbursed for my items. They told me I would get all my items back.
