Delicious and Convenient Healthy Meals
Sunbasket offers a delightful experience with their healthy meal delivery service. The ingredients are high quality and fresh, making every meal a flavorful delight. The menu options strike a perfect balance between creative new dishes and familiar favorites. What truly sets Sunbasket apart is their exceptional customer service. In the rare event of an issue, their support team is easily accessible and goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. Highly recommended for anyone looking for convenient, nutritious, and delicious meals!
Beautiful food, excellent service
We've been getting Sunbasket for the past five years and I have to say, we've never appreciated it more than we have during the pandemic. Knowing we have healthy, delicious, flavorful AF meals to look forward to at the end of an uncertain day has been a certain comfort.
Sunbasket makes an effort to provide the healthiest, most organic, most delightful, high cuisine options out there. And when you can't get to your favorite restaurant like in 'normal' times, this has been the best alternative we could possibly imagine. Thank you Sunbasket! We love you!
Pleased!
Eating these fresh & ready meals at work has kept me satiated and content while I eat a paleo/Whole30 diet. My personal goal is to lower BP and fasting glucose and regulate my GI system. I don't think I'd be successful without SunBasket.
I've really liked almost all of my paleo fresh and ready meals I've ordered. One was just not my taste I guess but still high quality and very convenient. I did have an issue with accidentally selecting a meal kit instead of fresh and ready which increased my cost significantly and cut into my important bills budget. Customer service went BEYOND my expectations and resolved things!

It looked and tasted like a gourmet dish!
I had to laugh, I am not a cook, I dabble at cooking, but last night I served my husband a meal that looked like it came from a gourmet restaurant... the major difference being that I had prepared it! Amazing. The food was fresh and all organic, it was so easy to follow the directions and was ready in a flash. I am so impressed, I cannot wait to prepare my second meal! It looks like I am going go be a like long customer of Sunbasket! What a wonderful company, the food also arrives in all recylable containers. The recipes looks so good and what a variety. We will be looking forward to our 3 days a week of Sunbasket food every week. They seem very easy to work with, we are going out of town and I had to cancel a week and that was no problem at all, In fact they gave me a chance to change my mind. All very simple.
My new favorite!
Sunbasket Meal Delivery Review: Exceptional Service, Quality Recipes & Delicious Details
I've been exploring different meal delivery services for the past few weeks, and I have to say that Sunbasket has exceeded my expectations and left me feeling satisfied and happy with my choice. I have tried several subscription services in the past, but Sunbasket has by far been the best experience I have had so far, from the quality of the recipes, the customer service I received, and the ease of use of the website.
I must admit, I was not too interested in the "organic" label. I tend to avoid buying organic and non-GMO foods because of concerns about environmental impacts and unsustainability. However, when it comes to Sunbasket's menu, I must say that the recipes are just better than other services I have tried. Even though I do not prioritize organically grown foods, Sunbasket's recipes still manage to stand out because of the thoughtful and refreshing details they add to their meals. During my time with Sunbasket, I have discovered delightful touches such as a refreshing apple and mint salad, exciting spice blends, and the use of flavorings like lemon zest that make everything pop on the palate. I also appreciate that they send a full recipe booklet with my order so I can save and try the other recipes I didn't cook during the week.
However, it is not just the quality of the recipes that impressed me with Sunbasket. I had an unfortunate experience where my first box got lost, and I was unsure of what to do. I contacted customer service and was surprised to find that they went above and beyond to make things right for me. They issued me a credit for the week, and even pushed back my coupons so I could still get a discount on my next two orders. When I eventually found my delivery box, it was still in pretty good condition, and even the meat was well packed on a block of ice, so everything remained in good shape despite sitting in the rain for 10 hours. I contacted Sunbasket to report that I had found the delivery, but they still allowed me to keep the credit, leaving me with a free week of meals.
Overall, Sunbasket has provided me with an exceptional experience that has exceeded my expectations in a meal delivery service. Even though I haven't had to cancel yet, I am impressed with the level of service, care, and attention to detail that Sunbasket provides and would recommend it to my friends.
SunBasket: Hands Down the Best Meal Kit Delivery Service Out There
So, I'm someone who has tried out several meal kit delivery services. I started with Blue Apron, but had to quit because I'm gluten intolerant and couldn't get three meals a week that fit my dietary requirements. Then I tried Hello Fresh, which was pretty good and did offer gluten-free options. But now I've found SunBasket, and let me tell you, it's hands down the best meal kit delivery service out there.
I've had bad experiences with some other services, like Pete's Paleo and Freshly, but SunBasket has consistently delivered delicious meals to my door. The flavors are on point and the ingredients are top-quality because everything is organic. Yes, it's a little pricier than some other services, but the higher cost is worth it for the quality of the ingredients.
One thing I really appreciate about SunBasket is that their recipes are designed to be more user-friendly and quick to put together. They do a lot of the measuring and prep work for you, so you can spend less time fussing over ingredients and more time enjoying your meal. Plus, the packages are so easy to work with and one package does an entire meal. Clean-up is a breeze, too - just a little bit of chopping.
I love that SunBasket's recipes are inspired by cuisines from around the world, so it's a great way to try out new flavors and spice combinations. And since they provide all the necessary ingredients, I don't have to worry about buying a bunch of spices or ingredients that I may only use once. This actually saves me money in the long run!
If you're into organic food and want a simplified dinner plan that still provides tons of flavor, then SunBasket is definitely worth a try. I can't say enough about how delicious our dinners have been. It's something my family and I look forward to every day!
Declining Freshness: A SunBasket Review
So my wife and I have been using SunBasket for more than two years now, and we have to say, we have enjoyed their services quite a bit. We are busy, on-the-go professionals, and even though we love cooking, we don't always have the time or drive to plan out our weekly meals or go grocery shopping. That's why SunBasket has been a real lifesaver for us.
However, it's time for me to express my concern about the declining freshness of the ingredients that have been arriving at our door lately. We're talking produce, specifically. Take radishes, for example. I mean, they have a pretty long shelf life, don't they? So how come the radishes we get from SunBasket tend to be less than fresh? They're often soft, spongy, and we've even had moldy ones show up in our ingredient bags, which is just gross.
We've expressed our concerns privately to SunBasket, and while they have apologized and owned up to the problem, it seems like nothing has really changed in the past two months of ordering three meals a week. I mean, we get it - sometimes mistakes happen. But this lack of freshness seems to be happening more and more frequently, and it's really starting to take a toll on our trust in SunBasket.
It's disappointing, really, because we started out so enamored with their paleo meal options and overall variety. The recipes themselves have never been the issue - it's just the freshness of the ingredients that's been failing us. I mean, wilting kale, soft cucumbers, hairy-moldy sweet potatoes, and un-usable cilantro and parsley? Come on.
And now we have to wonder about the quality of the protein that comes with our meals, too. If the radishes that are supposed to be fresh and crisp are arriving nearly as pliable and soft as marshmallows, what does that say about the rest of the ingredients?
All in all, we're disappointed to say that we're done with SunBasket for now. It's just not worth the hassle of trying to make less than optimal ingredients work in the kitchen. Maybe in the future we'll give them another chance, but for now we'll be exploring other meal kit options.
Sun Basket's App Billing Process is Deceptive and Lacks Customer Service
My significant other and I decided to give Sun Basket a try as we were searching for a convenient home delivery meal service. While browsing through the App, I selected a few meal options to check if they fit our current diet plan. However, my partner reminded me of an unfortunate billing incident that we encountered with Sun Basket previously, which led to us canceling our subscription.
I left the App without pressing any final purchase button or entering any credit card information, but much to my surprise, I received a notification from PayPal informing me that Sun Basket had billed me for my order. This incident instantly reminded me of our previous experience, which led to us discontinuing our subscription.
We suspect that their App's billing process, where pre-selected meal options are already set to check, makes it easy for unsuspecting customers to be automatically billed. Once the payment is processed, it's challenging to alter or revoke your order, which will leave you stuck with unwanted food items. To top it off, our recent payment includes items that are incompatible with our low carb diet. We wanted to discuss this issue with their "Supervisor" to understand why we were charged, but it's been quite challenging to reach them.
Moreover, the company's so-called "Supervisor" messaged us on Yelp but didn't provide us with real assistance. They didn't even call us to help us understand why our account was unexpectedly reactivated just by signing in to the App. They also refused to modify our order to include something edible. The lack of customer service is appalling, and new customers should be cautious. We are not impressed with their customer service and expect better treatment in the future.
Disappointing Sunbasket Delivery: Poor Packaging and Quality Control
I recently tried Sunbasket, after hearing some good things about it from a coworker. However, upon receiving my first basket, I was quite disappointed. Specifically, I had ordered the salmon dish, and was disappointed to find that the cucumbers were both soft and mushy, while the lemon looked old and was also soft. Additionally, one of the flimsy containers of seasoning was cracked. This made me question the packaging of the other dishes as well.
One example of this was with the chia pudding dish. Unfortunately, fruit had leaked into the bag due to the poor packaging, which caused chia seeds to gather at the bottom of the bag and render it unusable. Another issue I had was with the substitution of an ingredient in one of the meals without giving me the option to change my choice. Had I known that cabbage would be the substitute for Bok Choy, I would have ordered differently. Since I don't like cabbage, it was not desirable and looked fresh, but would not be used.
In the end, I felt that the quality of the basket was not worth the price I paid. When I called customer service, I was kept on hold for about 30 minutes, and then informed that they would credit my next order for $20, without giving me the option to cancel. As a result, I immediately went online and skipped the deliveries for the next six weeks so that I would not be charged anything else while trying to sort out how to cancel my subscription.
After a couple of hours of running around, I finally spoke to someone who was very understanding and seemed to genuinely want to help me out. They said that they cancelled my subscription, but not before offering me a $30 credit and free shipping on my next order. However, I felt that this was not a good idea, given that I had to throw away so much of the food from my first order. I wished they had provided some compensation for the items I had to discard.
Overall, I feel that Sunbasket needs to work on improving the packaging and quality control to ensure that their products remain fresh throughout the delivery process. Otherwise, they should compensate their customers for deliveries where the food is not usable. At the same time, it's tough to get a hold of customer service and this should be addressed as well. Based on my experience, I'll likely stick to grocery stores for my food needs instead of Sunbasket.
Unforgettable Desert Adventure: An Epic Journey Through Jordan's Wonders
After joining I received my first delivery as scheduled. The food was okay overall, although the portions are on the small side. The food is not worth the expensive price tag. They have a "default" menu that gets sent unless you make changes. Since I didn't care for any of the selections, I waited two weeks to order again. The next delivery was cancelled "because the box was damaged by the carrier." That week no food arrived from Sunbasket. I gave them one more try, and ordered again two weeks later. I received an email the day before delivery was expected stating they once again cancelled my order due to a "warehouse issue." I got frustrated and totally fed up with them and cancelled my subscription. And yes, their site makes it difficult to find as others said. I received an email confirming the cancellation, but the next day was sent an email stating a delivery was on the way. They sent a default shipment of food I did not want. I then went through the pain of their terrible phone customer service. I called and explained the situation, and the rep hung up on me. I called back and a different rep hung up and called back this time. She stated it was too late to cancel the order, and she could only refund $20. I informed her they had cancelled my order, not me, and I did not agree to being sent a "default" menu. She then proceeded to tell me again, no refund. I could however, dispute the charge with my credit card company. I was so angry by then I could scream. I asked for her to put someone on the phone with the power to refund the full amount. After a few minutes, she said "a supervisor said the full charge would be refunded." I can only imagine how many people they attempt to screw over daily. They are very untrustworthy and unreliable in my opinion, and I would advise people to stay away from this company.
Delicious Delights: A Mouthwatering Review of the Best Eats in Town!
I am a retired Oncology Nurse with a husband who has many health issues. The above "title" of this review only slightly touches my positive thoughts of what the delivery of Sunbasket meals has provided us. You pick the meal plan (Keto, Mediterranean, Vegetarian, Carb-Conscious, just to name a few...), the number of meals per week and you open the door to a world of tasty, step by step creative adventures. PLUS, you can place a hold for any number of weeks for vacation, budget reasons, whatever, and resume when you want by just scheduling "skip" on your calendar.
Portion control has always been an issue in my home and I always make way to much thus, my husband eats a-lot. Sunbasket meals are adequate healthy portions. There are meal selections that my husband would never select from a menu yet when I prepare them he truly enjoys them and tells me to order. Plus, he compliments me on my efforts in preparing, which he has no idea how much I enjoyed the preparation.
If you have not tried this service I highly recommend that you give it a chance.
With the precisely written and pictured list of ingredients and step by step instructions I've expanded my knowledge of cooking methods that I only thought I knew. Proving "you're never too old to learn" at the age of 70+ I've discovered methods and outcomes I'd never imagined. I look forward to the Recipe cards that accompany each meal and have created a tabbed binder so I can go back anytime and recreate these meals or get creative on my own, if I so desire, and make variations of them.
I believe the value of these meals is seen not only on the healthy side, the frustrating time of deciding what to cook and the items necessary to buy, but also the pocketbook. The gas I save running to the store, the time spent (and time IS money) wondering in the store (probably doing some impulsive shopping) AND the less spoiled/unused food thrown out from the refrigerator, alone makes this Service affordable and worth it!
Give yourself a surprising treat and try at least once... Happy Cooking!
Sunbasket Review: Disappointing Meals and Poor Customer Service
When I first came across Sunbasket, I was thrilled at the thought of getting delicious and healthy meals delivered right to my doorstep. However, my enthusiasm quickly dissipated when I ran into a problem with changing my payment method. I attempted to switch to a different credit card before my first order arrived, but it proved to be a difficult task. Despite going through several levels of phone customer service, I was unable to change my billing information. In the end, I had no choice but to cancel, despite still having an outstanding order.
When the day finally came for my first and only delivery from Sunbasket, I was sorely disappointed. The three meals that I received looked unappetizing and did not live up to my expectations. The first was supposed to be a salad, but instead of dressing, it came with a small bottle of plain apple cider vinegar. While some might consider this trendy, I found it unappetizing and insufficient. The amount of protein, pancetta, was woefully inadequate for the volume of vegetables provided, making it a disappointing meal.
The second dish was another salad and once again, there was no dressing. Instead, there was only a tiny triangle of flavored mayonnaise to go with an enormous salad. The protein in this dish was also lacking, as it was made from ground pork, which is not ideal for a salad. The third meal was the best of the three, featuring coconut shrimp, but there was still no dressing to be found, and it came with a huge side salad.
What is it with Sunbasket and their aversion to salad dressing? It's an essential component of any salad, and not providing it is a serious oversight. Furthermore, some of the recipes seemed to be too healthy and didn't provide enough variety and excitement in terms of taste and flavors.
Unfortunately, my experience with Sunbasket left me feeling less than impressed. It was one of the most costly meal delivery services I've tried, but it was also the worst. The raw and somewhat bland vegetables, unappetizing proteins, and lack of flavorings and dressings were disappointing, and I found myself suffering from a stomachache for three days afterwards. Overall, I would not recommend Sunbasket and would advise others to explore alternative meal delivery services.
Shady and Unresponsive: My Nightmare Experience with Sunbasket Customer Service
The thing that really frustrates me is when companies are not transparent, unresponsive to complaints, and don't treat their loyal customers well. With Sunbasket, the meals are decent - some are enjoyable, some are not so great. It's definitely a plus to have a wide range of options to choose from and their recipe magazine is a nice touch. However, as other reviewers have pointed out, it's a bit more expensive than it should be and there are other meal delivery services out there that offer better quality ingredients for a similar price.
My experience with Sunbasket's customer service was an absolute nightmare. My husband and I recently moved and changed our address in the Sun Basket app, expecting our food to be delivered to the new address. However, upon checking the tracking information, I was horrified to see that the delivery was going to our old address. Naturally, I immediately contacted customer service to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the representative I spoke with was not very helpful. Despite being pretty sure that the error was on Sunbasket's end (I distinctly remember updating my address in the app), the representative was unwilling to credit my account in full or issue a full refund. We communicated solely through text messages and I didn't even receive a name or phone call. So now I'm out over $70 for a mistake that I didn't even make.
This experience has made me even more convinced that something shady is going on at Sunbasket. When I tried to permanently unsubscribe from the service, I wasn't able to leave feedback or submit my cancellation when I selected the reason for leaving as "I had problems with my Sunbasket account" (sub-option: issues with delivery). I even tried cancelling on my Mac, PC, and through the app just to check if it was a platform-specific problem. But no, the only way I was able to submit my cancellation was when I gave the reason as "Too busy to cook meals." Come on, Sunbasket - are you seriously not interested in hearing from your customers when there's an issue? Don't you want to improve your model and provide better customer service?
My advice to anyone reading this review is to take your business elsewhere and avoid Sunbasket. There are plenty of great alternatives available - Purple Carrot, Peach Dish, Home Chef, and Bon Appetit box are just a few examples. Unfortunately, I can't provide links to their websites in this review, but I highly recommend checking them out!
Terrible Customer Service and Late Deliveries: My Experience with Sunbasket
Customer service is only available through chat, which can be frustrating when you need to make changes to your account. It feels like they randomly lock you out of your account without giving you any notice. For example, I wanted to change my delivery to every other week, but I was still paying for weekly delivery. Unfortunately, the customer service representatives are often teenagers with poor English or writing skills. They don't seem to care when you are locked out of your account and think they've done their job successfully.
My first order with Sunbasket is a day late, and I didn't receive any notification of the change in delivery date. The carrier only provides a window of time for delivery of one date before 8 PM, which means you have to be home waiting for food for 12 hours. It's a major inconvenience if they don't show up that day. I'm worried that most of my $300 order will have thawed/melted and gone bad before it gets to me. It's almost like Sunbasket is a con artist, and there's no way to talk to a live person about the problem.
Though the account locking was eventually sorted, there have been several other issues since then. The delivery carrier for SoCal is terrible, and they're often a day or more late. There's no notification if they're not going to show up, and it's impossible to get in touch with someone, much like with Sunbasket's customer service department. I've wasted many days sitting at home waiting for my food to be delivered. Even worse, when the food finally arrives, it's often spoiled, thawed, or rotting. Sunbasket's customer service doesn't offer refunds or credit my account, and they don't even apologize.
The responses I got from customer service were completely unsatisfactory. They basically said, "Well, sometimes deliveries are late...," which became the norm instead of the exception. One representative, Brittany, was particularly bad. She didn't seem to understand that Sunbasket is a food delivery company. They're supposed to bring food on time and in good condition. Instead, I received spoiled food after waiting for days and dealing with terrible customer service.
I decided to cancel my subscription with Sunbasket and try Home Chef instead. Home Chef sends notifications ahead of time if there are any delays, and they use a professional carrier like Fedex. The carrier lets me know they're on their way through text or email, and I can track the delivery's progress. Home Chef is light years ahead of Sunbasket, which sent a stoned Uber driver to throw my half-destroyed box of food on my porch two days late.
Sunbasket Complaints 11
I'm already pissed off at them & I haven't even received my first order
The customer service is via chat only, so you can't easily get anything on your account corrected. It seems like they randomly lock you out of things in your account, without notice of any sort - such as changing your delivery to every other week, while still paying for weekly account. Customer service is usually terrible from most companies, usually teenagers often with poor english or writing skills, but add onto that unapologetically saying that you are locked out and thinking they have done their job is pretty pathetic.
Currently my first order is a day late, with no notification of the date change. The carrier only gives a window of a date before 8 PM, which means you'll have to be home for a 12 hour period waiting for food - unless they decide to not show up that day. I fully expect most of my $300 order to have thawed/melted and gone bad. This company seems to be con-artists with no way of contacting a real person.
*** The account locking ended up being taken care of, but there have been multiple issues since. All relating to extremely poor delivery & notifications - the delivery carrier for SoCal is awful, and they are regularly a day or more late. With zero notifications that they aren't showing up, and no way to get in contact with anyone (much like Sunbasket customer service dept.). Wasted days sitting at home waiting for food. And when the food is delivered spoiled/thawed/rotting after days late, Sunbasket customer service does not give refunds or credit your account - not even an apology.
The responses that I got were basically "well, sometimes deliveries are late..." (which started to be the norm, not sometimes) One person in particular, named Brittany, was such a terrible Customer Service person that she didn't seem to understand that the company she works for is a food delivery service. Not delivering when promised, food not being edible after days late, and terrible customer service (even just getting an answer whatever method text/email/phone call). None of the three things of FOOD DELIVERY SERVICE were being done.
I canceled my subscription with Sunbasket and am using Home Chef, they give notifications ahead of time if there are delays & use a professional carrier Fedex that gives text/email notifications for when they are showing up, and progress of the delivery - so you can plan around time to receive it. So much better than some stoned Uber kid throwing your half destroyed box of food on your porch two days late.
Disappointed with Sun Basket's Use of "Axelhire" Delivery Service - A Customer's Review
Hey Sun Basket, I gotta say, I'm really disappointed with your choice to use "Axelhire" for your deliveries down here in Southern California. I mean, you guys make such a big deal about being ethical and all that, but then you go and hire a company that pays their workers next to nothing and treats them like trash. I mean, come on, guys, seriously?
Look, I get it - you wanna save a few bucks and all that. But let me tell you, it's just not worth it. I've had some really bad experiences with Axelhire, and I know I'm not the only one. They're just so careless and unreliable, and it's no wonder when you consider how poorly they treat their people.
The worst part is, it's not just about the delivery - it's about the food. I mean, your meals are incredible! I was really enjoying my subscription until I started running into problems with the deliveries. And now, I'm seriously thinking about canceling my subscription altogether. I just can't deal with the hassle and the frustration of dealing with Axelhire anymore.
So please, Sun Basket, please consider using a different delivery service. I know it might cost a little more, but honestly, it's worth it. You don't wanna lose loyal customers like me over something as silly as a cheap delivery service. So please, do what's right.
SunBasket Review: Overpriced, Poor Customer Service and Business Practices
So I thought I'd try out SunBasket again because with this pandemic, the grocery stores are super busy during the holiday season. I decided to order two meals which was estimated to cost around $53. But guess what happened? They charged me $77 instead! I mean what in the world! I only got some beans, an egg, and two pieces of fish. Like seriously, I could have gone to the grocery store myself and make the same meal for less than $25.
So then I tried to contact the customer service through their chat feature. But guess what? It was a complete waste of time. I had the same experience as everyone else who has had a complaint about SunBasket. The chat just ran me around in circles. Come on SunBasket, how long have we been in this pandemic now? Eight to nine months, right? Do you seriously believe that having poor customer service is still related to Covid? Uh, to me, it's just an excuse to not address the issues. Which by the way, were the same issues I had with them the last time I used their service. I always found an inedible something in the box.
It's been two years since I last used SunBasket, and it seems like things haven't gotten any better. I am done with them. I canceled my account and will probably give away the expensive fish and beans. Seriously folks, if you're looking to order from SunBasket, do yourself a favor and think twice. They are not reliable and their business practices are poor. I really wish I could give them negative five stars.

Disappointed with SunBasket's Keta Salmon: A Review of the Meal Delivery Service
I wanted to give SunBasket a go because I heard their ingredients are all organic and their fish is all wild-caught. I've tried Blue Apron and Home Chef before, but they were only so-so. So, I was excited to try a meal delivery service that has the highest ratings - even if it is more expensive than the others. And, bonus points to SunBasket for having more options like vegan, paleo, and carb-conscious meals.
My first meal from SunBasket was last night - seared salmon with panang curried cauliflower rice. The cauliflower rice was the highlight of the meal; it was very flavorful. But then, I looked at the salmon and saw it was labeled "Keta salmon". If you're not familiar with it, Keta salmon is chum salmon - which is bait fish! I tried to have an open mind and taste it, but it was so pale and flavorless. Now, for next week's delivery, I'm stuck with more salmon which will probably be that darn Keta salmon again. I'm so bummed with this company's lack of quality control.
So, I guess I'll be buying wild-caught soho, king, or sockeye salmon from my local grocer, which is an added expense that I wasn't planning on. Seriously, who even eats chum salmon?! I had high hopes for SunBasket, but it looks like I'll have to keep my expectations low and stick to the basics for future meals.
Disappointing Experience with Sunbasket, Switched to Blue Apron
I gotta say, I'm super bummed out by my experience with Sunbasket lately. I was a big fan of their service when I first started using it about a year ago. The food was always so fresh and tasty, and I loved that they were all about that organic life. Plus, the fact that the sauces were already made was a real life-saver when I was short on time. But dang, the past few months have been a real ride. I'm talking spoiled veggies, bags with food all over the place, random substitutions, and even some produce that wasn't marked as organic. What's up with that?
I started to dread the weekly Sunbasket delivery and ended up skipping weeks just to avoid dealing with the hassle. Instead, I turned to Blue Apron, which isn't all organic but still puts out some seriously delicious and fresh meals. And, bonus, it was cheaper than Sunbasket!
Anyway, last week was the last straw for me. The weather's getting hot and I don't trust that the produce would stay fresh for long (spoiled veggies, anyone?). So, I bit the bullet and cancelled Sunbasket (I did it online, in writing, just to make sure). They tried to keep me by offering me $20 off my next order, but honestly, that just made me more convinced that it was time to move on. I want good food and a service that delivers that, simply and without hassle. I'm sticking with Blue Apron for now, and maybe I'll try a new meal kit service later down the line.
Disappointing First Experience with Sunbasket Meal Delivery Service
I recently received Sunbasket as a gift and unfortunately, my first meal left much to be desired. As someone who works until 5 and doesn't get home until later, I don't appreciate recipes that say they take 20-30 minutes but end up taking closer to 45. I tend to cook using my sense of smell and experience, rather than following recipes closely. Additionally, I find it difficult to understand the words used to describe cutting certain ingredients. While there is one picture provided, if you can't see something clearly in that picture, you might be out of luck. What exactly does "pieces" mean when referring to a round vegetable?
I also found the provided spices and herbs to be underwhelming and not enough to add flavor to the dish. Salt and pepper were the only recommended additions, which resulted in a bland taste. Additionally, I found that the ingredients provided didn't amount to two portions. While there was enough beans for one portion, there was an overwhelming amount of radicchio, which to me was quite repulsive. Balance is important when it comes to ingredients, and there was a lack of balance in this dish.
When attempting to cancel my account, I found that it only suspended my account rather than refunding it. This required additional work on my part, which was frustrating. Overall, this experience has been severely lacking and causing more stress than it was meant to relieve. I'm considering forwarding it back to the gift giver because it was such a disappointing experience. When something that is supposed to bring relief ends up causing more stress, it's clear that there are major issues that need to be addressed.
Unresponsive customer service and food poisoning from Sunbasket meal delivery
So, let me tell you about my experience with Sunbasket. Normally, I love their sustainable approach to meal delivery, but unfortunately, I had a less-than-great experience with them recently. I ordered their Lettuce-wrapped burgers with spicy chraime carrot salad and ended up extremely sick shortly after consuming it. I tried to contact them over the weekend but couldn't get through to anyone. So, I sent them an email, but I never received a response. Frustrated, I decided to call customer service on Monday, and while they promised to call me back, they never did. I even sent them a text message today, and I finally got a response, but only after sending multiple messages.
I'm worried that this issue could be happening to other people, and there's no way to warn them. I'm also frustrated that Sunbasket hasn't even offered to credit me for the bad meal. The ground chicken was the culprit, I suspect. After ingesting it, I became extremely dizzy, had diarrhea and vomited. It was a horrible experience. It took me a while to start feeling like myself again.
I'm really appalled by this experience. If something goes wrong with their meals but you can't get through to customer service, what do you do? Honestly, it's concerning. I'm actually afraid to eat the rest of the meals I received, which is a shame because I usually love their food. However, because of their lack of response, I may have to cancel my account. So, be very careful if you decide to order from Sunbasket. If something goes wrong, there's a chance you won't be able to get the help you need.
Delicious Food, Poor Service: A Review of Sun Basket's Backend Issues
Sun Basket has some great dishes - and by great, I mean delicious. However, this company has a lot of backend issues that they need to address - like actually delivering the products that you ordered. I have received one successful week of deliveries from them. Unfortunately, Sun Basket is unresponsive when things go wrong and deliveries often get missed with little or no explanation. Despite multiple attempts to contact customer service, they never seem to respond. There’s no option to cancel your subscription on their website either! You’re forced to call and wait on hold for hours. They won’t even bother to respond to your emails.
I received an email from them that I’ve been eagerly waiting for that said the following: “Weve been working hard to resolve a warehouse issue. As a result, your Sun Basket box scheduled to arrive today, Tuesday, March 7th, will be delayed by one day. Rest assured that the warehouse issue does not impact the quality of your Sun Basket. Your ingredients will be delivered fresh and ready to cook.” Unfortunately, the food didn’t come even after the email.
Although the food is indeed great, you should be aware of their poor service. Avoid ordering from them for at least the next few years because they have a lot of backend issues that need fixing. There’s another reviewer out there who had similar issues with cancelling their subscription and getting customer service. In summary, while you might be able to get your products delivered occasionally, Sun Basket's dearth of customer service means you’re unlikely to ever get proper assistance when you need it.
Mixed Experience with Sun Basket Delivery and Customer Service
On July 26, 2020, my package from Sunbasket.com left the warehouse for shipping at 2:20 PM. The next day, on July 27 at 1:30 AM, the package was out for delivery, with delivery hours between 8AM-8PM. Typically, the package arrives by 10 AM, but on this particular day, there was no delivery by the usual time.
As a result, I signed up for delivery updates at 4 PM. At 8:00 PM, I attempted to chat with Sun Basket, but the chat system was horrible and not very helpful. I then contacted the shipping company at 9:30 PM, looking for any updates on the delivery time.
Finally, on July 27 at 11:10 PM, the delivery arrived, with no text update or knock at the door. Had my dog not alerted me, the package would have sat outside until the following morning. To make matters worse, when I opened the package, I found a moldy pepper. In an effort to bring this to SunBasket's attention, I sent them a picture, but the only contact I received was a fake email as a follow-up to a "phone conversation" that never took place.
I was really hoping that this would work out, as this was the first delivery service that my family and I have ever used. Unfortunately, due to the issues with delivery and the lack of response from SunBasket, I cancelled all future orders.
However, after leaving this review, Sun Basket reached out to me on August 5, 2020. They agreed that there was a glitch in communication, and my delivery, so far outside of regular delivery hours, was unacceptable. They handled the problem professionally and in good faith.
Overall, Sun Basket has a lot going for it, and the food is fantastic. If they can improve their communication systems and customer service staff, I would be happy to return and use their services again.
Sunbasket Review: Rude Customer Service, Late Delivery, and Overpriced Meals
I gotta say, my experience with Sunbasket was not a good one. I was so excited to order from this meal delivery service for the first time, but it turned out to be a major letdown. To start, my order arrived a whole day late and when I opened it up, the food was warm to the touch. Not good. There was only one small ice pack at the bottom of the box, which clearly wasn't enough to keep everything cool. I felt frustrated, but I decided to call their customer service to let them know what happened and see if they could help me out.
I explained the situation to the representative on the line and told her I had used a promo code on my first order, which brought the total to $51 instead of the usual $100+. Unfortunately, because of the issues with the delivery, I didn't get to try any of the meals I had ordered. So I asked the rep if they could comp my next few meals or credit my account for the total paid and reapply the promo code. Seems like a fair request, right? But the rep told me that because only the meats were ruined, they would only credit me for the cost of the meat. What? That doesn't make any sense.
So I asked to speak to a supervisor, hoping they could help me out. But nope, the supervisor was just as rude and dismissive as the rep. She didn't seem to understand why I wouldn't just pay full price and never get to use the promo code I was promised. I was so upset that I told her to cancel my account and give me a refund. And the worst part? The supervisor didn't seem to care at all. She said it was fine if I left a negative review and didn't try to make things right. Total lack of customer service.
To sum it up, here's what I learned from my experience with Sunbasket:
1. They DO NOT CARE about their customers.
2. The reps and supervisors are SO RUDE and dismissive.
3. The prices are way too high.
4. There are better meal delivery services out there, so don't waste your time with this one. They won't help you if something goes wrong.
Sunbasket's meal delivery service fell short, with missing and spoiled ingredients, inconvenient delivery, and poor customer service
I was really excited to try out Sunbasket's meal delivery service, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. Despite the added cost for organic ingredients, I found that some of the ingredients were missing or already spoiled on a few occasions. However, I didn't want to give up on the idea of having healthy meal options delivered right to my door, especially since I knew Sunbasket was still a relatively new service and could still be working out some kinks.
One thing that did frustrate me was that I wasn't able to receive my deliveries directly at my apartment door. I had to go down to the mail room to retrieve them, which was an inconvenience but not a dealbreaker. However, one night, I never received a notification that my delivery had been made. The next morning, I still hadn't received anything. I searched around and discovered that my delivery had actually been left in the mailroom, but I never received the access code needed to retrieve it. At this point, my food was sitting there getting ruined, but there was nothing I could do about it.
When I reached out to Sunbasket's customer service team, I was shocked to receive an automated message telling me to unsubscribe if I wasn't happy with their service. I also tried contacting the delivery agency with no luck. It was frustrating to have paid $75 for a box of food that was now rotting in the mailroom and would potentially damage other packages. It definitely left a sour taste in my mouth and I would caution others against subscribing to Sunbasket if they value timely and responsive customer service.
On a more positive note, I will say that the meal options offered by Sunbasket were quite appealing and delicious. However, the poor experience I had with their delivery and customer service overshadowed any positives. I tried to reach out for direct assistance, but I never received a response. It's clear to me that Sunbasket only cares about covering their bases on review sites rather than addressing problems directly with their customers. It's disappointing to see a company prioritize their image over their customers' satisfaction.
